Cross Foxes

Marchwiel, Wrexham, <20£
31/05/2019: Good food, good value. Great ambience. Friendly and helpful staff - nothing seems to be too much trouble. If I were being pernickety, I would suggest that service could be a little quicker, but it's not too much of a problem. Happy to return and to recommend
29/05/2019: Very friendly staff. Our reserved table was ready & waiting for us & we were quickly served. Main meals were excellent & well presented but ooh the Puddings were the best ever.

Prospect Garden Tea Rooms

Llangollen Rural, Wrexham
28/05/2019: Found this little gem when staying in a nearby cottage and Wow what a find! a definite must when visiting Llangollen, the views are just spectacular, we visited during the Easter Break and enjoyed fabulous weather whilst we had our lunch, we will definitely return.
25/04/2019: Whilst on a trek with Explorers, stumbled across this gem of a cafe! Beautiful Scones that are TOP CLASS! The Flat White Coffee is also brilliant and a good size also (not like the small size flat whites you get in commercial cafes).

Old No. 7 Bar & Grill

Offa, Wrexham
27/04/2019: Can’t believe it’s 6 months since our last visit, but this time we invited friends along. They weren’t disappointed. A selection of starters, steaks all round and a couple of bottles of red wine. All delicious. Attentive service too. A gem in the heart of Wrexham
11/11/2018: Myself and my friend went to Old No 7 a year ago for a girls night, the food was delicious the service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. A candlelit table surrounded with exposed wooden beams, rustic looking decor and lots of quirky little touches. We were suitable impressed, I recently returned with my Fiancé to find the food was equally as nice, the service just as good and the atomosphere even better and they have added live music downstairs which was a nice surprise once we’d finished our meals. The cocktails are good I wish we’d had more time to try them all.

The Priory Cafe

12/05/2019: OMG!! 04/05/2019: Have called at the Nags Head a couple of times over the last few weeks for afternoon lunch. Both times we were warmly greeted and shown to a table. Service was quick and friendly and menu had a wide variety of offerings. We sat outside in the Easter sunshine on our first visit but this time it was a little chilly so opted for the dining area. Food was well presented, hot and reasonably priced.

Les's Fish Bar

Grosvenor, Wrexham
20/05/2019: Had lunch here and judging by the fact it was so busy was testament itself. Had a very tasty meal. Was served very quickly and efficiently by some lovely young women. Will definitely visit again. X
13/05/2019: Really excellent fish and chips both cooked freshly and were really tasty. Very reasonable prices and a special fish chips mushy peas bread and butter and a cuppa well under £10. Would go again, also staff very helpful and pleasant.

The Hanmer Arms

Overton, Wrexham
28/05/2019: Ventured here on Bank Holiday Monday. We phoned at lunchtime to see if they could accommodate 7 of us, they said yes so off we popped! When we arrived the place was very quiet. I ordered the steak pie and was told it was made fresh so there would be a bit of a wait (fine by us we had plenty to catch up on!) well when it arrived WOW! Huge chunks of beef, no fat in sight, gorgeous rich gravy and amazing chips. We also decided to go all out and order some pud! I went for the sticky toffee pudding and it was also amazing. This will be our new local for food. Proper home cooked grub with a friendly landlord who couldn’t do enough for us. Very happy with our visit and we will definitely be back!!
23/04/2019: Table booked but not available at arrival, but became available some 40 minutes later. Dinner ordered for 4 and arrived about 80 minutes later.

Griffin Inn Pub

Rossett, Wrexham, <20£
19/05/2019: Menu isn't the widest range but the items on it are well priced (below £10 per main) and are good sized portions even for a big water like myself.
04/05/2019: Amazing food, great value and great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the food and drinks. Free WiFi and dog friendly.

Caffi Wylfa

Chirk South, Wrexham
10/06/2019: Called in for afternoon tea. Somewhat disappointed with items available. Ice creams advertised and choice was one and one sorbet! Cakes were limited and slices on the small size
03/05/2019: On our way to Chirk Castle decided to stop here for lunch very varied menu friendly staff and quick service. We had savoury pancakes very good and the bara brith was very good we will return

Machine House Restaurant

Marford and Hoseley, Wrexham
28/04/2019: Although the website implies there is a six course tasting menu, we were a little surprised to be told that only the eight course was available.
27/04/2019: Booked for anniversary and was so disappointed. On arrival was on given the offer of a 8 course taster menu for £75 per head (although website had 6 course for £55). I wouldn’t have minded but the food was poor, the cold beef dripping on bread, barley with unhydrated mushrooms (which were tough and chewy) and egg, and cold Welsh rarebit. There were very nice bits - the lamb and halibut were lovely- but I like some carbs as well (that’s probably me but I like potatoes with lamb) - but overall for £200 for two people this was very poor and now of far better restaurants in Chester for half the price (I recommend the yard - fantastic food). We did come to the machine house when it first opened and weren’t that impressed, but thought that might be them finding their feet, but definitely won’t be going back again!
