Penceunant Isaf Tea Rooms

Llanberis, Gwynedd
11/09/2019: This place is rightly number 1 on Tripadvisor because of Stephan, don't get me wrong its a lovely homely little pub with the most delicious hot chocolate I have ever tasted and the other bar staff are lovely but Stephan is a gem, he really is and you should not take my word for it, go there and see for yourself! We were a group of 8 calling in to rest our weary legs after walking up Snowdon via the Miners path and walking back down via the Llanberis path. The pub is at the bottom of the Llanberis path. Stephan was very accommodating bringing out bowls of warm water with seaweed in to soak our feet in, without us asking for them, we were gobsmacked, back in South Wales you can barely get a smile out of the bar staff in many pubs! He took time to ask us where we were from and he seemed genuinely interested in us. He rallied around to try and get us a mini bus back to our hostel and just went above and beyond to help in any way he could. He even gave my friend a bag of tomatoes he had picked from his greenhouse! lolol Such a character! We all agreed that we would come back to North Wales just to come back to this lovely pub to see Stephan. Believe all the good reviews because they are all true, i just wish we could have stayed longer.
11/09/2019: When in Llanberis I look forward to visiting Penceunant Isaf the staff are so friendly it's a pleasure to sit and enjoy a helping of their lovely bara brith and take in the views and it's a must that I buy a loaf to take home for my granddaughter, she loves it.

No. 46 Coffee Shop

Criccieth, Gwynedd
12/09/2019: We visited No. 46 after looking at the positive reviews.
10/09/2019: An excellent find, by chance. Lovely cheese scone with onion chutney. Quite friendly service. Very affordable

Bistro Bermo

Abermaw, Gwynedd, 20-30£
14/09/2019: We visit Barmouth for the walking festival each year. As it is our wedding anniversaries we usually celebrate with a nice meal. We were not disappointed with any of our 12 choices. I had salmon 3 ways for a starter with asparagus and truffle oil. The poached salmon was warm and it had a tasty sauce with it. The smoked salmon was excellent and the salmon caviar added another flavour and texture. My husband cleared his chicken parfait very quickly. My friend pronounced her mussel starter as wonderful and loved the sauce. Her husband agreed as he helped finish the sauce!! The restaurant served my friend the salmon starter without the truffle oil at her request. My mains rack of lamb was so tasty with a gravy sauce it just melted in my mouth. The chips looked quite pale but they didn’t need to be brown to be perfectly cooked and crispy!! We did not have room for dessert. We will be back next year to celebrate our wedding anniversaries!
07/09/2019: Recent visit and was looking forward to it, advised to book in advance with a mate, starter of Mussels was generally ok, tasty, the main, Pork, Black pudding and Scallops was very average, l left a considerable amount, the staff were lovely, very polite and attentive, l was the visitor with the reviewer who had an Ill patron next to us, completely spoilt the night, not the Restaurants fault, but not handled the way it should have been, l cant see us going back, very average and underwhelming.

Y Sgwar

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
14/09/2019: We came to Y Sgwar on a recent family holiday to Wales. It is a very spacious restaurant and beautifully decorated, with a warm, homely feel. We were attracted to it as my fiancé has a number of vegan family members and this was pretty much the only restaurant in the area that offered a vegan menu. It was a very good menu with plenty of choice, so it was great that they made this much effort to cater for all diets.
11/09/2019: Just got back from a meal at y sgwar, I could spend a while describing the place and the staff etc (they were great by the way) , no none of that matters because the food, oh my, absolutely fantastic, all 3 courses were magnificent. Coming from Cardiff where all the trendy food places seems to be, this little gem knocks spots off them all, veggie Wellington was outstanding and the sticky toffee pudding - I've never experienced anything so tasty in my life, unfortunately it's 200 miles or so away from home or I would be back on a regular basis. Da iawn, arbennig a diolch yn fawr.

On the Hill

Ruthin, Denbighshire
10/09/2019: Turned up early to get a table, and glad I did, as within 15 minutes people were being turned away (this was a Tuesday night).
09/09/2019: I booked this restaurant for my husband's surprise birthday weekend as we were staying within walking distance at Ruthin Castle Hotel. The food was lovely, staff attentive but the service was very slow. Allow plenty of time for your meal.

Salt Marsh Kitchen

Tywyn, Gwynedd
10/09/2019: Staying in Tywyn on holiday and went to Salt Marsh kitchen for meal. I had Cajun whitebait for a starter which was delicious and a first for me, followed by paella which was amazing. Beautiful flavours. Had to be crime brûlée for dessert which was heavenly. All in all an excellent meal and we would visit again.
05/09/2019: Phoned on Monday for copy of Menu and was told they would email me great as the online menu apparently isn’t up to date. Phoned yesterday as they hadn’t sent it and felt optimistic as the person who answered phone admitted they had forgotten, how refreshing honesty only to be let down a second time and still no info. I don’t think you want my business or even care which is a shame . Thanks

Wavecrest Cafe

Llanfaethlu, Isle of Anglesey, >100£
08/09/2019: We were on a walk and noticed that the cafe was still open....15 mine to go, so we had cold drinks and one of those wonderful scones.......I was going to throw it down my throat as I don't like to keep staff working when they are trying to close....but I was told "not to hurry, take your time"......what a lovely the event, we were finished on time anyway....but what lovely people.
06/09/2019: This is a must visit. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The menu looks lush although we only sampled a scone and coffee. The scones are huge. And they taste as good as they look. It was served up on a small china plate which is something rare these days. If we were staying longer in Anglesey I am sure we would have returned.

Seiont, Gwynedd
10/09/2019: I had a gluten free pancake and it was delicious the best ever! Yummy. My son had dutch syrup and he said it was gorgeous. Really great service too! Will definitely be going back.
09/09/2019: About the 5th time I have been there. 3 people all had different types and all were slightly changed from the menu. All very tasty. Staff very helpful and friendly, as always. Will be back.

The Looking Glass Ice Cream Parlour

Gogarth, Conwy
04/09/2019: On a cold miserable day in September my wife and I entered the ice cream parlour and took one of the two table remaining. The place was buzzing which is not surprising when you taste their ice cream. That said we also had a cup of excellent tea served in a very hot tea pot. The ice cream is all made by the owner and is therefore unique. There are all sorts of dishes on offer but I went for the large (3 scoops) Knickerbocker Glory. You have a good variety of ice creams to choose from and also several toppings and sauces all topped with home made cream. I was in heaven. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
02/09/2019: A delightful oasis on a rainy Monday afternoon. We entered to a sea of happy faces. It was clear that this was a well known venue to lift the spirits. The choice of ice creams is a nightmare for the indecisive as they all look delicious. We visited on 2 September and the young staff were very professional, friendly and courteous. Our orders were delivered quickly and did not disappoint. As we sat enjoying our ice cream, they could have filled another half a dozen tables as many people were unable to get a table. Having said that, had it not been raining, they would no doubt have filled the several tables outside. We will be back!

Coastal Cafe

Moelfre, Isle of Anglesey
09/09/2019: Absolutely amazing extremely busy place! The chef just kept going thought we would not get our requirements due to the amount off custom. We did and absolutely scrumptious! I suffer with cooked food in oil and I must say I didnt react so yes great
06/09/2019: The fish & chips here are faultless. Called when camping nearby having passed it several times. The first thing the lady frier did was to replace all the chips and she fresh ones. That is not something I’ve ever seen in any chippy. Lovely crispy batter ample portion sizes. Can’t wait to visit again when next on Anglesey

Watsons Bistro

2 offers
Conwy, Conwy, 30-45£
13/09/2019: Popped in for the “Earlybird” menu as we had just visited the beautiful castle and walked the town walls. We saw the Watson’s Bistro sign on the roof of the building from our position high on the town wall. We were just in time for the bistro’s “Earlybird” menu and chose the two course option which is superb value at £20.50. The menu is varied and interesting and the ingredients are beautifully fresh local produce. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and is simply a perfect choice for a delicious meal. I have no hesitation in recommending this bistro as I know you won’t be disappointed when you visit Watson’s Bistro, if you are lucky enough to be in Conwy.
09/09/2019: We enjoyed lunch here on a Saturday and the special lunch menu was a great value. The food was very good and service was good. It took a little while to get our food so be prepared for a leisurely meal.

Amelies Cafe Restaurant

Conwy, Conwy
14/09/2019: Short review but very easy. We stopped here for lunch and were so glad we did. Home cooked food (cooked by the owner who even bakes all his own cakes!) and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff are a super team that work well together to ensure happy, efficient and friendly service. With vegan and vegetarian options, the food is delicious whether you want a healthy meal or
08/09/2019: We popped in for cream tea last week which was excellent - homemade scone with jam and cream went down a treat after a morning of sightseeing.
