Pysgoty

Aberystwyth Rheidol, Ceredigion, <20£
22/12/2019: Tempura prawns were disappointing but the sauce was nice. Pork cheeks were ok but the sprouts were soggy and bitter. However the biggest surprise was having to go outside to the public disabled toilet further along the seafront in the dark ... not a venture I would have liked to have done alone!
05/12/2019: This must still be the best place to eat in town..... bit pricey but well worth the money..you must book to be guaranteed a table....just Love it... cant wait to return....

Tomatitos Tapas Bar

Hay, Powys
11/01/2020: Visited here with my partner in December. As mentioned previously, its our "go to place" when in Haye. Rustic, friendly and Olde Worldly, with a good range of staple and special dishes. As a vegan its easy to eat here and the choice is good. Five dishes and bread and olives fills two people up nicely. Olives the best I have ever tasted. All washed down with local ale, oh and there is a real fire to!
11/01/2020: Lovely place, great decor and good fresh food. Great salad with Manchego cheese. Great gambas, would have preferred fresh bread to toasted pieces and overall bread could be given more generously, like in Spain. But let that not withhold you.

Fforest Pizza Tipi

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion, <20£
11/12/2019: Try to get there early so you can be near the fire-pit to stay warm. There is a good choice of pizzas and they are cooked promptly and deliciously. You have to listen for your name to be called so you can get your food from the counter before it goes cold
26/11/2019: Lovely pizza and dog friendly. Funky set up and seems to work well. Relaxed atmosphere right on the river. We stayed in st dogmaels and the locals recommend it.

The Lion Hotel and Bistro Berriew

Berriew, Powys
25/11/2019: We stayed at this recently renovated amazing hotel and restaurant. On the outside it's a classic old black and white hotel/pub however the inside is an extraordinary combination of old and amazing art from Andrew Logan. Has to be seen to be believed. Food and service excellent. A real place to remember. Have a look at the rooms on their website, you will never have seen anything like it !!
23/11/2019: This is a special place to stay, and I suspect one Sunday supplement review away from being impossible to be able to book in - so BOOK NOW! The Lion is a lovely old pub and the rooms are not only hugely comfortable but also unique having been designed and fitted out by Andrew Logan. When you see a glass mosaic number on your door and find a throne in your room you know it's worth the effort getting here. I say worth the effort because this was a weekend of massive floods with the Welshpool to Newtown road blocked and everyone having to rearrange their accommodation and travel plans. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the restaurant itself is worth the visit on it's own. Really glad to see that their is still a bar which was full of both residents and locals with live music. The service was excellent too.

14/01/2020: I attended on a wet and soggy Saturday evening with my family in January. One of the party was a vegetarian and the menu catered for all. The room layout is pleasant and lighted accordingly the two large tables catered for parties.

Pen y Cae Inn

Tawe-Uchaf, Powys, <20£
07/01/2020: My hubby and myself love this little gem of pub/restaurant, we try to go there when it’s possible as the food is fabulous and the staff are excellent, we booked a table there for Xmas day and we were greeted with a glass of kir royal and it was delicious, we were then taken to our table which was upstairs (there is a lift also available) we had canapés to tickle our tastebuds first and a salmon and crab roulade for starter, then the turkey lunch was served and the presentation of it was gorgeous, it was as delicious as it looked there was also lots of meats to choose as well, the desert was Christmas pudding served with either custard, cream or brandy cream, it was so nice I could have asked for more, the staff are all fabulous, their all so friendly that you feel like you’ve known them forever, I hope their going to do lunch again this coming Christmas because we will be at the top of the list, an excellent place to have proper good food
06/01/2020: We visited the Pen Y Cae on the Sunday after Christmas for lunch with another family.

The Triangle Inn

Rhayader, Powys
09/01/2020: Tiny little pub which serves more as a restaurant than a pub . Food was fresh and home cooked we really enjoyed it. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. It’s quirky too as the pubs toilets are opposite the pub across a little road
07/11/2019: This pub is a fabulously cosy and friendly place! I took my two children for dinner and the food was amazing 😊 so tasty and plenty of it! The homemade onion rings were great! We highly recommend this wonderful little pub

New Quay, Ceredigion, <20£
19/11/2019: I was so looking forward to ice cream and we have been leaving in Pontgarreg for over 3 month when I finally manage to get one the last week before they shut for the season. Well the staff must have the patience of a saint with so many choice the crow of four us could not make up our minds. Lucky it was getting late so there were no other customers. The Nags Head Inn

Berriew, Powys, 30-45£
12/01/2020: We were holidaying nearby and this was the nearest pub- visited for a drink then went back for lunch the next day. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely. Pub has a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommend
04/01/2020: We came on a sunday and ordered off the sunday main menu. I had scallops to start and hake for main. Presentation and taste of food were excellent. Really enjoyed my first time sampling scallops. My hake was cooked perfectly and served with gorgeous roast potatoes. We all had greens and cauliflower cheese to accompany our mains. Desserts were really nice too. Overall a really pleasent meal in a nice atmosphere of a restaurant. All staff were attentive and friendly. Can honestly say the best meal i have had in a while and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Very reasonably priced at 22.95 for three courses. We will definitely be

Castle Green

Lampeter, Ceredigion
29/12/2019: A trip to Wales cannot be complete without a visit to our favourite Carvery ever. Best in UK. Always made to feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. Great food, fantastic service. Made to feel like one of the family. They remember us and our dietry requirements. Highly recommended
08/12/2019: My first time at Castle Green and it certainly will not be the last. The Sunday lunch is absolutely fantastic. The Castle Cafe Cellar Bar

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion
06/01/2020: Travelling between West Wales and North Wales on a wet December Sunday we wanted to stop for lunch. We had not had opportunity to book anywhere so we were pleased to find this establishment. More café than restaurant, the place was empty when we arrived but started filling soon afterwards. The food was very good basic fare, service was laid back, friendly, but efficient. Our dog was greeted with a treat, and the prices were very reasonable. For relaxed refuelling we recommend this, a very short detour from the A487.
11/12/2019: A great place to eat, drink coffee and relax. The place often has live music in the cellar underneath the cafe, where you can enjoy some great performances by artists with exceptional skill.
