Aberystwyth Rheidol, Ceredigion, <20£
04/01/2018: I really do not intend to say too much about this fish Café, because whatever is cooked, it is cooked to absolute perfection by Paven and his team. The service is delightful, especially Carys whom serves everything in the correct way, knows her rules of etiquette. This restaurant deserves five out of five every time, and I must have been a dozen times, never disappointed, always a major treat and always leave with a smile on my face.Hope you maintain number one restaurant rating throughout 2018.See you all on the 24th.
23/12/2017: Family celebration and we were absolutely delighted Service friendly and efficient Great Champagne on the list Food was as good as anywhere in the U.K. wonderful seafood!Absolutely delightful.

Creme Pen Cei

New Quay, Ceredigion, <20£
20/12/2017: This ice cream shop is fantastic! They have so many flavours, all looking scrumptious it is a MUST during your visit.
10/12/2017: The only downside is it's not cheap, but you can't knock its value for money as its that good! Visited 3 times in a week long stay in New Quay. Awesome flavours. A must if in the area.

The Three Horseshoes Inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys, <20£
17/01/2018: Started the evening with a G&T Lots of attention paid to the botanicals that the lovely barman added to it. We had warm welcome on a very nasty night, the food was outstanding, I had the sea bass, it came with sprouts, I'm not a fan normally. The whole dish was perfect, and any chef that can make me eat sprouts must be good. My husband had the lamb, and yet again another clean plate went back. The flavors on our plates were second to none. Desserts were also well worth eating, we polished those off too.
16/01/2018: Enjoyed a three course meal at the Three Horseshoes and was pleasantly surprised by how well conceived and presented all of the dishes were. The flavour combinations were inspired and the presentation artful, everything was cooked to perfection, the lamb being a particular highlight! Great service in a relaxed yet tasteful dining room and for the quality of food served and the craftsmanship which went into each plate, it was very reasonably priced. Would not hesitate to return!

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
18/01/2018: It's a real pleasure to visit Casablanca, a small, friendly restaurant with a unique character, twinkly lights, evocative wall-paintings and delicious food. It's great to be able to bring your own wine and drinks - everyone gets what they want, no restaurant prices, and no corkage ! I had a lovely hummus starter, strategically decorated with olives and accompanied by plenty of warm pitta, then the delicious brochettes of local lamb, served with rice, fresh crispy salad ( no wilt there !) and sauces. Ashamed to say I still had room for baklava and ice-cream. My pals enjoyed a seafood Provencale and a fish tagine ( both served in real Moroccan tagines ). Great value and a brilliant venue for a atmospheric dinner for two, or three - or more !
17/01/2018: 15/01/2018Heard about this resturant from friends , we popped in on the spur of the moment. So pleased we did , made very welcome by the lovely waitress and owner , delicious meal , lovely atmosphere would recommend this resturant , very personable and different

We chose carvery and it was delicious, as much as you’d like. All the serving staff were kind and attentive, the dessert was also delicious. Very pleasant experience! Would recommend.
11/12/2017: Sunday lunch is always excellent and such good value. Great Chef and food is excellent every time. Certainly worth the long drive to get there and we are always happy to pass lots of other eating places just to get to Castle Green, no one can beat it! Mavis and her team certainly know how to feed a Lord!!!! Thanks very much. See you again very soon!

Restaurant at The White Swan

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys
31/12/2017: Visited for dinner two nights. Excellent both times, with a warm atmosphere and great food! Sadly we understand it is now closed for renovation. Hopefully when it reopens it will have the same great feeling and food as before.
24/09/2017: Visited the white swan on a charity bike ride in July and decided to try out the Sunday dinner . A party of 30 of us arrived today on what was also my husbands birthday. The welcome was amazing when finding out it was his birthday they put balloons out and music to sing to him . The atmosphere was great and the dinner even better . We all have caravans near by and next season we shall definitely be making more visits here . Thank you all so much for making today so special . Well worth a trip to x

Fforest Pizza Tipi

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion, <20£
07/01/2018: The pizza takes ages to get to you, but everything else about the place more than makes up for it.Local alesOven baked homemade pizzasRiver side viewOpen fire under the tipi in the eveningSometimes live musicIt gets very busy and can be difficult to find a table.
17/11/2017: Very interesting venue. This is an outdoor courtyard although you can move under the "tipi" to shelter you from any rain. However, it does not provide protection from any cold breeze. It is a nice place to sit on a warm sunny day, but you would be advised to wrap up well, even on summer evenings - just in case. As it overlooks the river Tivy, it can be an idyllic place to spend a sunny day or balmy evening, although you will need to control young children in case they stray too close to the waterside. My group enjoyed the food, although, personally, the paper-thin pizzas, sometimes partially burned, were not best-suited to my hearty appetite. On the other hand, I very much enjoyed a pint of pale coloured beer (pale ale or lager - I know not which) drawn from a barrel. It was reminiscent of the strong, flavourful beer served up in the beer gardens of Germany. Although referred to as Fforest beer (the owners of the restaurant) the barman confided in me that it is brewed in a micro brewery elsewhere ( possibly the West country?) This place is worth a visit just for the excellent beer!!

The Old Barn Tea Room

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys
12/11/2017: love this place...try to get up there at least once a week....great staff and food !!.....but last couple of times it was signs up and no one around to ask why x...hope it's just a blip !!!...x
28/10/2017: Lovely location, great service and good food. What’s more to like! Will definitely be back! Don’t accept cards so make sure you have cash!

St John's Place

Hay, Powys
10/01/2018: Had such a brilliant evening at this fantastic little restaurant The food was outstanding will definitely be returning well done to all the staff and what a Lovely place Hay on Wye is to spend the New Year
02/01/2018: Our B&B hosts enthusiastically recommended this place for dinner and they were not wrong. It was a great dining experience. Although just three of us -- me and hubby and brother -- we selected every item on the menu. It is a small, well-curated menu, but not that small! We just couldn't resist wanting to taste every single thing! The restaurant is small and nicely decorated. Service is casual but professional and the food is just delicious. Creative, beautifully served -- a real experience. I think we were lucky to get a place to dine on short notice. Definitely make advance reservations and do not miss this if you are in Hay.

Dyffryn Cafe & Restaurant

Welshpool Llanerchyddol, Powys
12/11/2017: Stopped off for breakfast which was so good it made us want to visit again for lunch on the way home from the coast. We had my lactose intolerant friend and the staff couldn't of been more helpful checking ingredients and offering alternatives or to substitute for dairy free where possible. We all had the beef casserole which was home cooked, tasty and huge portion (mine fed myself and my daughter). The ice cream sundae was out of this world and all eyes was on it when they brought it over. The dairy free option looked really tasty as well as the choc cake. My only small downside is there isn't changing facilities and the toilets are only small but i managed and hasn't put me off.
07/11/2017: The Dyffryn Cafe saved the day after a very disappointing visit to Cwpan Pinc down the road where we were roundly ignored by the rude staff... Not the case here, where the staff were professional, everything was clean and tidy, and the food was just the ticket. Thanks for an excellent hearty breakfast.

Gwesty Cymru

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
24/12/2017: I've eaten in many places around the world and this has to be the worse, bad service, rude staff and vile tasting food.
22/12/2017: Stayed in October, rooms of a good standard, food in restaurant fantastic, locally sourced produce cooked to perfection not a massive menu but something for most tastes, a good wine selection and a nice sea facing garden to sit and have a drink weather permitting

Llanfair Caereinion, Powys, 30-45£
15/10/2017: I can't really think of a more fitting way to describe Just3Drops other than perfect. We were greeted by Ruth on arrival, only to discover that she cooks, hosts and serves the food/drinks. As me and the girlfriend were the only two in on the night, it was the most intimate meal I've ever had. You can literally hear Ruth working away in the background while you're having drinks, it's amazing! The food was cooked perfectly and so tasty. The portions were huge and it definitely felt like the menu was underpriced for how good it was and how much you get on your plate!Ruth even took the time to chat to us for half an hour after the meal. Really friendly, affectionate and her passion is clearly reflected in the restaurant. Words can't describe how good Just3Drops is!
23/09/2017: My boyfriend and I have dined all over at some really top notch restaurants but nothing has ever come close to Ruth's Just3Drops, which is on our doorstep in Llanfair. Ruth is so welcoming and makes your experience so special. I always drool over the menu and the food is just stunning, as well as her great selection of drinks - from excellent wine to homemade cocktails. I can't stop raving about this little gem, it's absolute heaven!

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
09/01/2018: Found this restaurant by chance and we are so glad we did. We were looking for a quick brunch and this was the perfect spot. We had poached eggs on roasted veg with potatas bravas. Fantastic. Great coffee as well. The deli is second to none. We could not resist a selection of salami. Highly recommend Ultracomida either here in Aberystwyth or in Narberth. Great food and fantastic service.
04/01/2018: This was our first visit having passed it on previous visits. The staff are friendly and efficient. The menu is extensive with a good selection of meat, fish and other dishes. Although it is tapas style the dishes are quite big, so you won’t want too many. The food is excellent and good value for money. They have a good wine selection, but it is worth trying the house wine as this is extremely good - especially for the price. We had a very enjoyable meal and did not feel rushed.
