Tomatitos Tapas Bar

Hay, Powys
07/10/2020: This tapas bar makes a nice change from the British focused menus of most restaurants in Hay. It does not take reservations but I got a table straight away. It has a wide selection of tapas and good wine. Staff are helpful and food arrived quickly.
06/10/2020: Really good tapas (especially the aubergine with honey - 'fell in love' with this in Spain and not seen it in the UK before!). Fast and professional service, Good value

The Three Horseshoes Inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys, <20£
24/11/2020: Another superb, gourmet feast on a Saturday lunchtime. As well travelled folk we can honestly say the Three Horseshoes is as good as it gets for a gastropub. Covid measures are very well thought out so we felt completely safe while we worked our way through another memorable meal. Thanks, again to all who work so hard there.
21/11/2020: An excellent lunch from the mouth-watering menu. I would strongly recommend a visit. Service was attentive, welcoming knowledgeable.

The Cellar

Aberaeron, Ceredigion
10/12/2020: I honestly cannot recommend The Celler in Aberaeron enough! Food is completely out of this world...every course so so tasty...this chef certainly knows about flavours-DELICIOUS!!Service is also fantastic, our waitress Michelle couldn’t do enough-excellent people skills! Love love love this place and can’t wait to return after refurb! Bwyty arbennig a bwyd blasud tu hwnt! Diolch!
22/11/2020: Cannot praise this place enough. The food was fantastic and the staff (especially Michelle) were amazing. Can’t wait to go again for another meal.

Mama Fay's

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
13/10/2020: We hadn’t booked but the staff were happy to find us a socially-distanced table. The food was affordable and delicious, lovely jerk sauce. I had the plantain burrito which was a great and unique vegan option I’d never seen before.
04/10/2020: Relaxed restaurant with incredible food and quick friendly service.... We had a lovely evening and will definitely be returning soon.

Latte-da Tearoom

Crickhowell,Llangattock, Powys, <20£
14/10/2020: A popular venue. Very Covid aware with good precautions taken by staff and required of customers. Hot and cold food and drink available with seating both indoors and outside in the garden. Staff very friendly and helpful. Portion size is generous and everything we had was delicious.
02/10/2020: Fabulous rear garden, great food, a warm welcome and a cute gallery too, despite the pandemic!Incredible staff and food in a tough time, we were met with great service from the start and they spaced all guests safely. I recommend the beautiful garden area and most crucially the food!Even with a limited menu due to Covid-19, they provided 2 options of Brioche bun and trimmings... I had the pulled pork and my friend had the halloumi but we inevitably shared, as they were both delicious.A proper Welsh welcome, perfect!Ask richardoQ6670TN about Latte-da Coff

The Plwmp Tart

Penbryn, Ceredigion, >100£
30/11/2020: Gorgeous, truly gorgeous food and coffee. However the car park is run by The National Trust. £4.00 just to park, OK it's a good cause. Facility to scan your NT membership but not your debit card. OK you can use your phone to pay but there's no internet in this beautiful but remote place. The Plwmp Tart must lose an awful lot of business and get negative reviews left by people who have nothing negative to say about the quality of the truly scrumptious food.
23/10/2020: A lovely cafe with very friendly staff. It’s quite scary to go out at the moment so I don’t often go to cafes, but here I felt safe they were following the Covid regulations really well and cleaning the tables and chairs very well which you don’t always see cafes doing outside. Very good food!

Brecon Tap

St. Mary, Powys
23/10/2020: Our second visit in a month and again the food and drink were amazing. A different selection of pies and local beers from a couple of weeks ago didn’t disappoint and the staff were friendly, knowledgable and enthusiastic as before. Despite being famous for the pie menu the starters and deserts were also great. Would definitely recommend and will visit again when in the area.
19/10/2020: True gem of a place. We came to the Brecon tap twice last week whilst staying in Brecon. The beer here is excellent. We sampled nearly all the beers available on 2 visits and all were superb. Fresh, well kept, nice head retention. The place has a great atmosphere. The 3 members of staff we met were all really friendly and helpful and have great knowledge of the beers they’re selling despite the fact they are constantly rotating the beers. We didn’t eat but we had food envy of the people who were. The Sunday roast in a Yorkshire pudding looked amazing and we overheard the table nearby saying how good it was. If we get back to Brecon we will certainly be paying the tap another (several) visits. They also have a cracking range of bottled beers to buy and take home. Well priced too. Faultless.

Restaurant at Caer Beris Manor Hotel

Llanafanfawr, Powys
30/11/2020: This was one of the best meals I have had for a long time and compares well to some of the best fine dining restaurants I have visited. Made even better by the beautiful dining room and the wonderful service. Fabulous.
23/10/2020: Excellent choice. Menu could have been more extensive but we all enjoyed our choices. Staff pleasantly efficient, and all masked. Impressive birthday dessert presented on the house! A lovely evening with family in beautiful surroundings.

Libanus 1877

Borth, Ceredigion
14/12/2020: We had the most beautiful food - went in October and had a lovely three course meal. And went yesterday for a Sunday dinner and the food was absolutely delicious, the meat melted in my mouth! I would 100% recommend to everyone 🤩
21/10/2020: Luckily our son had visited the restaurant and told us about it. We could easily have driven past without noticing it. It is an old chapel which has been converted to a cinema (downstairs) and a restaurant upstairs. We experienced excellent service and the staff and owners were exceptionally pleasant. The food was not bad either! The standard of the food was very good with plenty of choice. If one can't make ones mind up it is possible to order several light bites. My steak was cooked to perfection and my wife's fish special was stunning.

The Lion Hotel and Bistro Berriew

Berriew, Powys
18/10/2020: Best Sunday lunch we'd had in a long time. Thank you to Leigh and the team for the wonderful hospitality
10/10/2020: Wow, amazingly relaxing and fantastic service. The food was wonderful and bursting with flavour. Adapted so well to the current times and despite the masks the staff were wearing we were able to forget the situation and totally enjoy the food! Certainly a place to eat. Amazing food cooked to perfection. Thankyou.

The Banc Knighton

Knighton, Powys
01/12/2020: Just moved to Knighton and The Banc has become, without doubt, my local. The food is divine and I’ve enjoyed a Sunday lunch and a couple of ploughman’s lunches. The ale is well kept and the service way and above what I have experienced in many other pubs including those in West London that really know their stuff. It’s the detail that really stands out like the personal service and small things like the butter being warmed up so it’s spreadable in December. Can’t fault the place and just sad that, as is the case with so many other businesses, the powers that be seem to be doing their best to make the lives of such hard working people an uphill battle.
28/11/2020: Brilliant varied menu - lovely food for 4 on a Saturday lunchtime. Staff friendly and helpful. Grandson ate his bodyweight in burger and thoroughly enjoyed

Express Cafe

Newtown East, Powys
22/10/2020: Everything is good about this place. You can eat inside or out. The staff have always been friendly and wear PPE. The cafe is very clean. Service is speedy but you don’t feel hurried. A nice relaxing time. Food is good honest food and cooked well. A lot of choice on the menu.
17/09/2020: I have been a few times now and as always excellent food, lovely helpful staff and a great atmosphere. Love the new decor and the local pictures. As an elderly lady I am very fussy about COVID requirements and will walk out if I am not 100% happy. Express cafe meets all measures perfectly. Thanks Andy and team.

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion
04/12/2020: My wife and I visited Crowes at the start of December. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. There was a selection of vegetarian options and a couple of vegan, all available with lovely fresh salad and potatoes. There were also lots of options with extras; Hummus, Harissa, Olives, Dressing etc. Lovely! The only down side - which is completely not the owners fault - is that during these Covid times there is limited seating inside the cafe as it is quite small and she is having to adhere to social distancing. We were made to feel very welcome, and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!
29/10/2020: My wife and I just stumbled on this little place back in 2016 while we were on holiday. We had some salad and pie with lemonade and loved every mouthful. We're meat eaters but didn't miss it at all. Food was lovely and we still talk about it to this day. - Which is what motivated me to Google the establishment juts now, to make sure it was still going strong a few years later. The owner greeted us with one word "Hungry?" and we explained to her that we were drawn by the lovely smell of the food. The place is rather tucked away, but is a real treat and we're so thankful we found it by accident. (had to put 2019)

Cat Soup Kitchen

St. Mary, Powys
22/11/2020: My first time to try , but the rest of the family have on numerous occasions. We had a takeaway of various veg, meat dishes, and I had the Japanese fish and chips. It was excellent, fresh and light, with lovely spices. The burgers the kids had, would give another burger joint in town a run for its money imo. The vegetarians amongst us also loved the different dishes they had. I will definitely be a future customer, along with the rest of the clan.
07/10/2020: On the promenade overlooking the River Usk. Nice, slightly different menu. I had the Japanese Fish & Chips, and my wife Katsu Chicken, both of which were really nice, and very reasonably priced at around £7.50 each. Service as good given the COVID challenges.

The Dutchess

St. Mary, Powys
28/11/2020: Very welcoming staff, superbly decorated cafe, good Covid precautions. thoroughly good visit. Recommended.
17/11/2020: Brecon Breakfast Roll - the best black pudding ever. Nice Egg and Bacon was plenfitul in a lovely hot roll. Lovely
