Aberystwyth Rheidol, Ceredigion, <20£
17/08/2018: We had booked this before our holiday as it looked such a lovely place, and definitely wasn’t disappointed, great setting, fantastic food & great service.
12/08/2018: My partner and I visited Pysgoty for the first time last night. We were originally in the reserve booking list for Saturday evening and thankfully, due to a cancellation, they were able to accommodate us. We weren’t disappointed. Starters of fish soup and fish cake were ordered. Both were excellent but the fish soup was exquisite.

Creme Pen Cei

New Quay, Ceredigion, <20£
17/08/2018: Always a first stop when in new quay plenty of selection very reasonable in price and always helpful.
15/08/2018: This really is ice cream heaven! There really is every possible flavour on offer from your ordinary vanilla to the more obscure Jaffa cake, Rolo or Kinder Bueno... they also have gluten/ dairy free choices.. Small or large cones available (plain/chocolate/honeycomb/sprinkle covered) and the scoop sizes are really very generous... come with an empty stomach!! We travel 20 mins to get here and it’s totally worth it every time..

The Old Barn Tea Room

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys
17/08/2018: Just what we wanted after completing the four waterfalls walk. Kids had the special - half a sandwich, small piece of cake and a welsh cake and a hot chocolate. A ctusl special is for scone and tea but the owners kindly let the children swap for no extra money. I had soup and a massive piece of cake and beautiful tea. A real highlight- seek it out.
09/08/2018: We discover the Old Barn by chance whilst driving around the Beacons, intended to just have a cup of tea. The menu looked so inviting that we decided to have lunch. My wife had the "special" which consists of a half sandwich round, a scone with jam and cream, a welshcake and tea. I had the cheese sandwich which came with salad and tortilla chips. Both were very good and filling.

Gwesty Cymru

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
07/08/2018: The restaurant is very small and generally noisey. The food is excellent but over priced as is the wine list. Lovely service.
06/08/2018: My sister and I had a delicious meal here for one of our special occasion nights out during a week long trip around Wales. My sister really loves veggies and the chef was so accommodating in meeting her requests for lots of veggies with her fish. The staff went above and beyond to may our visit special. The only negative aspect to the evening was the sound inside. I think it's likely due to the shape of the room, but it was extremely loud despite only a few other people inside. They were laughing and having a good time, which I can't fault them for, but I don't think they realized how loud they were. It was difficult for my sister and I to have a conversation. I think in the future I would sit outside if possible.

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, 20-30£
13/08/2018: A delightful family meal on our first evening in Aberystwyth. It serves good range of Mediterranean influenced food including dips, mezze, meat platter, grills, meals and salads. You can eat "tapas" style or have a full meal. There is a good wine list and unobtrusive service. Recommended.
07/08/2018: My wife and I often pop in weekly for Flat bread and dip.

The Three Horseshoes Inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys, <20£
04/09/2018: Booked a table for two at 6.45pm on a Friday evening and made the cardinal mistake of arriving 25 Minuites early. We were assertively told by the female bar attendant (owner) that we were too early and that we would not be offered the menu until our allotted time. I was tempted to ask the lady if she would like us to leave and return at a time that best suited her! What had happened to good old fashioned Welsh hospitality and the common courtesy of welcoming you and asking how we can help you! This was non existent at this place.
03/09/2018: Booked our table weeks ago for Sunday lunch at 2.30pm. At the time of booking we also gave our food orders. We were sat by our tables by 2.30pm but food never arrived until 3.55pm. Some of our guests were told after they were seated that they had run out of some starters despite these being ordered some weeks ago. After complaining all I was told was ‘it’s all cooked fresh hence the delay’.

Restaurant at Ynyshir Hall

Ceulanamaesmawr, Ceredigion, 60-100£
15/08/2018: His was the first foodie stop in a quick dash around Wales.
24/07/2018: Apart from the mind blowing food, everything was amazing, the location with stunning views, the quirky cutlery, platters and bowls, the wonderful knowledgeable and efficient staff and the charming chef patron, Gareth with his groundbreaking cooking.

Fforest Pizza Tipi

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion, <20£
29/08/2018: Very pleased with the quality of food. Beautiful setting on the teifi river. Excellent atmosphere. Friendly staff. Long wait for food but I did highly enjoy my evening Highly recommend
29/08/2018: We had been told by friends that a visit here was a must.Next to the river in Cardigan we found this restaurants lunchtime, after checking we could bring our dogs in we found a large table next to the river. Fantastic views and the sun came out. We ordered a vegetable

Castle Green

Lampeter, Ceredigion
02/09/2018: Great food great people and very relaxing experience, we will be back again but next time less meat and veg so there’s space for desert, the portions were plentiful which is unlike a lot of places these days with there tiny portions. Brilliant
30/08/2018: We had this place recommended to us and were not disappointed. The quality and quantity of food was amazing and we were delighted with all the food selections we made.

Bosun's Locker

New Quay, Ceredigion
19/08/2018: We had Sunday lunch on a busy Sunday. It arrived within 10 minutes. There was plenty of food on the plate. The roast potatoes were over done as were the vegetables, which I have to say was disappointing. The was a varied selection of veg just a shame they were soft.
18/08/2018: Came in for a latte and a slice of cake of which theres lots to choose from . Lovely friendly staff , delicious cake and plenty of time to sit and enjoy

Little Italy

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, 20-30£
16/08/2018: My wife and I ate here on the evening of the 24th July during a short stay in Aberystwyth and cannot sing the praises of this place high enough.
15/08/2018: Recommended but sadly would not revisit as the food was bland and portions small- we choose pasta and this isn't expensive is it yet the portion was very small and pretty tasteless- with tomato sauce and garlic - the service was excellent and staff were attentive and went out of their way to be helpful so if they could get the food right it would be a great venue - some italian music would have added to the atmosphere

Pen y Cae Inn

Tawe-Uchaf, Powys, <20£
19/08/2018: This was my second visit but my first for Sunday lunch. It won't be my last. Everything was delicious. We were a party of 12 and everyone loved every mouthful. Starters, mains and deserts were home made, nothing processed, and beautifuly presented. The chef had picked the blackberries that morning and made the most delicious tart I have ever tasted. It is a very busy place but it's no wonder with food of this quality. The staff were smartly dressed and very courteous. I can't wait to return.
19/08/2018: Nice location, characteristic building, excellent food quality although the menu is limited and not cheap, excellent service by warm and friendly staff , ample parking and a mini zoo area at the rear to be enjoyed by adults and children alike. Worth a visit.

Fabian's Kitchen

Llangunllo, Powys
28/08/2018: We booked this and it was excellent food, drinks and friendly welcoming staff. Range of food, although not extensive, has something for everyone. Fish curry, leek soup, pumpkin tagine, and bread and butter pudding all very tasty. Good wine and beers. Fish curry especially good - perfectly cooked and choice of hot or medium. Friday night very busy so best to book.
28/08/2018: We returned here after a couple of years absence and were very pleased to find that the food and service was as excellent as before. The fish curry and sea bass were cooked to perfection and no problems in accommodating my food allergies. A very enjoyable meal.

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
13/08/2018: What a delightful evening! This little restaurant truly is an oasis of calm and mediterranean atmosphere. The owner and staff were wonderfully friendly, attentive and clearly took enormous pride in everything they did. This alone makes a visit worthwhile! The menu provided an excellent selection of traditional mediterranean dishes and all of the food we chose was served in good time, cooked to perfection and tasted heavenly. Even my stepson, who initially insisted that he was not a fan of the menu, is now desperate to visit again. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We will definitely visit again.
07/08/2018: Spending a couple of nights in Aberystwyth so we looked round for somewhere to eat. We found this little gem. No inflated drinks prices because you take your own. The host was very welcoming and he also did the cooking, All the food was excellent, clean plates from both of us. This is a cash only restaurant but was not a problem.

St John's Place

Hay, Powys
12/08/2018: Julia’s cooking goes from strength to strength. The menu has lost some of its ‘fine dining’ appeal, but has broadened its accessibility without compromising on quality in the slightest. A tremendous meal last night with great service too. Thank you!
06/08/2018: Just a bit different. Wonderful atmosphere in a plain furnished chapel. Although not a huge choice of menu, due to only seasonal, the food was perfect. Service excellent.
