Aberystwyth Rheidol, Ceredigion, <20£
16/07/2019: Sehr kleines und nett eingerichtetes Fisch-Bistro, direkt am Meer gelegen inkl. kleiner Terrasse. Kreative und frische Fischgerichte, wunderbarer und besonderer Ort!
15/07/2019: Went with family and sat outside as they were the only seats available. This turned out to be the best option as the view from the tables across to the sea was spectacular. The service was excellent and our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the food. They gave special attention to my mother-in-law with a seafood allergy, which is quite something for a seafood restaurant! The food was incredible and so tasty - you could tell that it was fresh and prepared with care. It’s certainly worth booking way in advance as this place is always full to capacity, but it is so worth it. Highly recommended and looking forward to when we can go back!

Fforest Pizza Tipi

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion, <20£
16/07/2019: In planning a family trip to West Wales for Canada I began following Pizzatipi on Instagram and was keen to have a supper there. The setting is so great. Different to anywhere I've ever eaten. The atmosphere is great, even my 80 year old dad loved it. The pizzas were so imaginative and tasty. I wish we had a pizza tipi at home! Keep up the great work.
11/07/2019: Went with 3 generations of family, aged 2 to 69. All enjoyed the pizzas, lovely place for kids to run around, great atmosphere.

Latte-da Tearoom

Crickhowell,Llangattock, Powys, <20£
09/07/2019: Second visit and the coffee in my cappuccino is still so smooth and tasty. Very busy on arrival but service was still prompt and professional.
08/07/2019: There’s a reason why Latte-Da is No.1 in Crickhowell!

The Three Horseshoes Inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys, <20£
17/07/2019: After seeing a recently published review and the excellent response, it was a no-brainer when we found ourselves within walking distance of 3 Horseshoes to book a meal. We were not disappointed, superb food and great service. By the time they delivered the warm bread with mushroom butter, we were sold. Starters of Ham Hock Terrine and Scallop Ceviche followed by Loin of Lamb and Cod loin and desserts that were delightful. Can’t wait for a revisit.
14/07/2019: Called in for Sunday lunch after reading the excellent reviews i pre booked a table which I would recommend doing .The Sunday lunch was excellent and plenty of it the surroundings where lovely and I will definitely be coming back in the future.

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, 20-30£
14/07/2019: We turned up, hadn't booked. The girl who approached us wasn't welcoming at all. Obvious she didn't want to be there.
13/07/2019: Although tucked away down a side street this delightful, light and airy cafe and restaurant is in a very convenient location and well worth a visit. It was so good we went back again! Great selection of drinks with the option of alternative milks for those with allergies. Fantastic range of freshly made cakes. My daughter tucked away the chocolate mouse cake! Very friendly and efficient staff. Extensive menu of Mediterranean themed food. Going to try that next time.

Gwesty Cymru

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
17/07/2019: We had three courses (scallops, lamb, cheese) and two courses (cod and chocolate mousse) with drinks for £88. Great value for this quality.
17/07/2019: Found this place just using Google maps and had no idea it was so popular or so good. Really lucked out. They were busy and squeezed us in. You can tell the food is made in house. The soup was outstanding. The risotto was a meal in itself and the flavors blended together so nicely. My friend ordered pasta and was delighted with every bite.

09/07/2019: My daughter and I called in for a coffee and snack on the way to visit my parents. We decided to have the Camembert and cheesecake to follow. I can only describe as out of this world. Staff were so lovely and helpful and it’s also dog friendly. We are planning our next visit. Fantastic value for money and well worth a visit.

Food For Thought

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Rhyd-y-Fuwch, Ceredigion
13/07/2019: Apart from the one young lad the rest of the staff were pretty rude. Service was slow. No kids breakfast option, it was 11.30 (breakfast finishing time) so I enquired if I could order a kids meal (ie, fish fingers and chips) to be told no, so my 3yrs old had to have a small breakfast, costing just short of £6, obviously wouldn't drink the tea that comes with it but wasn't allowed to swap for juice. What annoys me even more is the table next to us 5 muns later order of the main menu and are eating chips.... Even worse their food is served before ours! Rude and ridiculous!
11/07/2019: Tends to get busy at lunchtimes. Breakfasts are good value and the cakes are to die for, but I wish they would serve smaller portions and reduce the price a little.

Cosy Corner Restaurant

Builth, Powys, <20£
28/06/2019: Loved our first meal with you. Attentive and friendly service. Lovely food and hubby loved the bobotie said it was really tasty. I loved my tasty homemade fishcake and the salad was imaginative. Good luck with the decorating I know you were closing for a few days to do that. Look forward to returning. I had to share my picture of your happy potatoes. :)
26/06/2019: Stopped off in Builth Wells on our way to North Wales. Came across the Cosy Corner and decided to have lunch here. We both had the bacon. brie and cranberry sandwiches and mocha coffees. Must admit it was the nicest bacon and brie sandwich I had ever had! Loads of bacon and brie, and so filling that I barely had room for an evening meal later. The people were very nice too. Will definitely return if in the area again.

The Lion Hotel and Bistro Berriew

Berriew, Powys
14/07/2019: We had been visiting the fabulous Sculpture Museum and made a decision to have a Sunday lunch.
08/07/2019: This was. oursecond visit here. The first time was a lunchtime sandwich when we found out that the L9on had rooms which were being renovated and one would be available for guests with dogs. We were so taken by how lovely the village itself is we decided to book a 3 night stay.I must say we were not disappointed..The room was lovely. with a huge walk in shower which I loved. The bed was extremely comfortable and very interestingly decorated. All the guest rooms are decorated to an individual theme and colour scheme and the bar area and dining area were decorated to the same high and unique standard. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into the decor. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely go again. A special thank you should go to both Beckys, Mark and Lee for making us feel so welcome, It was also nice to chat with Michael, one of the owners.

Little Italy

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, 20-30£
17/07/2019: Fantastic food and service. Meatball starter and Tiramisu best ever. Pasta and pizzas delicious too. Great service A gem.
29/06/2019: We popped in without a booking on our last night in Aberystwyth. I wanted to treat my partner and treat is certainly the word. The food was superb, the staff friendly and the atmosphere lovely.

The Nags Head Inn

Berriew, Powys, 30-45£
16/07/2019: Dropped in on our way back from Wales on Sunday. The smell of Sunday dinner caught us ( we'd only stopped for a drink ) ! After looking through a great menu , offering every traditional meat with all the trimmings , we decided on the Beef . Wow it was fabulous, I actually couldn't eat all the meat and took 4 slices home . Plenty of choice , delicious food , excellent wine ( reasonably priced ) Well worth a visit , or stop off as it's right on the main road .
13/07/2019: We visited as a family group for Sunday lunch. There is very limited vegetarian selection at this time/ day. However the food was good, tasty and well presented. We have a picky eater in the party and they were very good talking adapt a dish to her liking.the Nags is wheelchair accessible and has disabled toilet facilities but high chairs were kept in here and I had to empty the room before it could be used. Personally I don't think it's hygienic to store high chairs in a toilet, they are put in there clean but are they cleaned again before use? If you are using one I would ask.
