Bosun's Locker

New Quay, Ceredigion
09/12/2018: We visit this little hidden gem once a year. The Sunday lunch is delicious and huge ! Good value for money. You’ll need to leave room for the lovely puddings and cakes they do too. The Staff are all lovely, very attentive.
03/12/2018: We visited this place to late for a Sunday meal. However we had a cream tea & a very interesting talk with the owner who likes to talk & be friendly with his customers. The place was very clean & welcoming & the staff were very friendly. Our Cream tea was lovely & tea to boo,. the local information helped us plan our holiday for the week.

Aberystwyth Rheidol, Ceredigion, <20£
13/12/2018: When our friends from France visited recently, we knew straight away that they'd enjoy Pysgoty - they are both foodies, and as Bretons, also very keen on fish! We, and they, were not disappointed... the fish soup was excellent - our friends have attempted to re-create it at home, and were very pleased with the result!
08/12/2018: Two words of warning. Firstly, book in advance. This is a small place and very popular. Secondly, the entrance is on the side. Force your way through the front door and the chefs will be surprised...

Creme Pen Cei

New Quay, Ceredigion, <20£
07/11/2018: We visited here on two occasions during our lovely break at New Quay during the October half-term break. When we visited plenty of choice was available bearing in mind it was coming to the end of the season.
24/10/2018: What a fantasitc place!! really enjoyed the variety on offer. We return every summer to new quay and this is now on the list. Lovely family run buisness

The Three Horseshoes Inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys, <20£
17/12/2018: The food was outstanding. This restaurant and pub is not on many people's radar with most people heading to better known destinations, but if you can stop and get off the A40 to find The Three Horseshoes, then you will not be disappointed. Each course was delicious and beautifully presented. The young chefs are already award winners and I think that we will be seeing more of them soon. Every dish was full of flavour whether simple or complex. The wine list was really economical, but each one chosen with care and the wines well kept. The service was very efficient, attentive, and not pompous. It is an honest well run restaurant and pub, comfortable and welcoming with food that is out of the top draw. Well done to the owner, staff and chefs. I know that you will be successful and that we will be back.
17/12/2018: All the courses were beautifully presented and very tasty with lovely flavours. There was a great 'amuse guelle' to start and there was no disappointment with the following courses. All were worth returning for but we didn't have time.

Fforest Pizza Tipi

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion, <20£
11/12/2018: Love this place! Yummy pizzas, garlic bread, leaves & brownies. Order & pay, give your mobile number and they text you when it’s ready. Overlooks the river Teifi. Large fire pit for when it’s cooler. Quirky & bohemian.
06/11/2018: Staff were SO friendly, food was fresh and deiscious, great for kids to have space outdoors to run about a bit - home made gin was lovely, as were the views of the setting sun over the river banks. Highly recommend.

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, 20-30£
08/12/2018: Amazing food, friendly service and a beautiful place to be. My favourite restaurant in Aber for lunch or dinner. ❤️
19/11/2018: Was recommended this place by a local, not sure it was obvious from the street that it was an evening meal venue. Really good veggie options, and lovely cocktails. Wish we'd had time to come back for afternoon tea, as there were some tempting cakes on display.

The Old White Horse Inn

Tawe-Uchaf, Powys
18/12/2018: We booked the Old White Horse for a Scout Leader's Christmas meal last night, Monday December 17th at 7:00pm.. It was very busy so our table for eight was in the bar. This was fine as it is a lovely room with log fire etc. The table hadn't been laid for a Christmas meal and we had to ask for more cuttery which was placed in a glass. We had pre-booked our meals and so were very disappointed when at eight o'clock we hadn't received our starters. The table next to ours had their starters and so I asked how long food would be. The waitress said they were sorry but they were really busy. The table next to us then had their mains and by now I was just thinking it might be better to just leave. Our starters arrived after eight but were lovely. We then had to wait over an hour for our mains. The meat was cold and tough and the roast potatoes were cold and soggy. One of our party had ordered from the main menu and his food didn't arrive until most of us had finished our mains. I did complain to the waitress about the wait and was told it was because they were so busy. I replied that they shouldn't have taken so many bookings.
17/12/2018: I was given the responsibility of arranging a meal for my Fiancée and her parents. I was given the daunting task of looking at lots of different places that we hadn’t been to but decided upon booking at the Old White Horse Inn because from the first point of contact the staff were very helpful.

Pen y Cae Inn

Tawe-Uchaf, Powys, <20£
12/12/2018: Had a fabulous meal at the Pen Y Cae, as did the rest of our party, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were very attentive, didn't have to wait long for the food, which was devine. Can't say enough good things about the Pen Y Cae, just wishes I lived nearer.
05/12/2018: Went on Monday night for our anniversary. Food was OK but the service was appalling.

St John's Place

Hay, Powys
04/11/2018: Really lovely meal. Incredible food. We shared small tapas style plates. Service was very good, welcoming.
30/10/2018: We ate here with friends. The restaurant has changed its booking policy, and reservations are only available for groups of 6 or more. We arrived at 5 for drinks and small plates and were told we needed to vacate by 7 for a reserved table. For those who don't want to feel pressurized this wasn't great (even though 2 hours is plenty of time).

Cosy Corner Restaurant

Builth, Powys, <20£
03/12/2018: Booked in advance on a recommendation and couldn’t have been happier. Plenty to choose from on a delicious menu. Very good indeed!
24/11/2018: Lovely food. Best steak my other half has had. Lovely friendly service. Had a great night. Would recommend and will definitely go again. Quirky and cosy.

Fabian's Kitchen

Llangunllo, Powys
03/11/2018: Been several times, as a ‘retired’couple, then with friends and recently with family members, including their young children, including a new born. Attitude of owners and staff, excellent. Quality and presentation of meals superb. Value for money, none better. Nothing was too much trouble. Made to really feel welcome, On each occasion we were treated like friends rather than customers. Impressed with the ‘genuineness of the place, you really do get MORE than you can see. Well done.........’We’ll be back”!!
13/10/2018: Went to Fabians Kitchen this evening with my family. We had an extremely warm welcome from the whole family...and throughout the entire meal we were very well looked after. The food was fantastic, portions are huge, freshly cooked by Fabian who even tailored the fish curry to my taste! The atmosphere is relaxed, and the customer service was above and beyond, even when the restaurant was full. We will be back again very soon. One last point.... we hope Fabian had a good birthday!

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
30/11/2018: I have been to sophie's many times over the past few years and I still think its the best place to go for breakfast especially after a night out. The vegetarian breakfast is brilliant and I often come in for one of the sandwiches, I would highly recommend the Med sandwich if you visit here for lunch. And there is a great selection of drinks available, the luxury milkshakes are the best around especially the oreo milkshake.
25/11/2018: Me and my mrs decided to go for breakfast whilst in the area and it was the best choice we made... the monster American breakfast was the best thing I’ve ever tasted...whenever we come to visit from now on this is the place we will be coming to..the staff were very friendly and welcoming...but I cannot stop talking about how nice the breakfast was...I definitely recommend going here...

Backyard BBQ

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
19/11/2018: This was my third visit to backyard bbq and I can't praise the staff there enough.
11/11/2018: Cannot rate this place highly enough. Food was fantastic and plentiful, staff super friendly and made you fell like a part of the family from start to finish.

The Old Barn Tea Room

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys
11/12/2018: Lovely countryside formerly named grannery cottage now the old tea barn rooms is a lovely quaint place in the beacons with fresh Good, which is delicious and we recommend this for tea and scones or Sunday meals plus lots more.

Gwesty Cymru

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion
27/11/2018: This was a real find. Great place to stay (see my other review) and an amazing place to eat. The food was exceptional. All scores out of 10: Scotch Egg 9.5 Risotto 9 Lamb 11! Crumble 10 Sticky Toffee Pudding 15!! Service was excellent too.
08/11/2018: A wonderful stay at the Gwesty Cymru, a 50th birthday treat from my wife. We stayed in the white room, which is at the top of the hotel with a great view of the sea, many stairs to climb! But well worth the climb.
