The Green Almond
Meads, Eastbourne, 20-30£
21/11/2022: I have recently decided to try Veganism but like most Vegans I don't like to talk about it ;-) Looking for Vegan food of high quality in Eastbourne, is fairly difficult. A few restaurants offer "vegan options" but that usually means taking the ham or chicken out of something and hoping that will do. Not acceptable these days.
So we tried Green Bros. It's hidden away from the centre of town but not really that far, behind the Grand Hotel.
The guys here are very passionate about their food and also friendly and knowledgeable. They will even tell you how they make things if they have time. The food was great and the wine, reasonable.
If you are unsure about the Vegan thing...have the Doner Kebab. It's epic! (And fully Vegan...tell everyone!)
12/11/2022: Visited last night with my family to celebrate my birthday and must congratulate you on your excellent menu choices and ambience! Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we thought the food was delicious and so well presented. It was really nice to be able to choose anything off a menu without having to check if it was vegan or not. Well done and will definitely return... thank you

Quince & Medlar
All Saints, Allerdale, >100£
11/06/2021: My second visit to The Quince and Medlar. It felt even better than before. The owner was again tentative and nothing was too much trouble. As I'm gluten free, I felt very relaxed in their confident hands.I genuinely think this was one of the best meals I've ever had. And I'm fussy! You won't be disappointed. Neither of us are vegetarian, although I'm trying to eat a lot less meat. You don't miss meat in this menu. The flavours are amazing and very clever.Would be happy to recommend this restaurant to anyone. This was our first meal out after lockdown and we felt very safe with the spacing of tables as well as the ventilation.Thank you so much again for a fabulous evening.
02/06/2021: So nice to be eating out again, particularly at our favourite restaurant. We really enjoyed the tasting menu - it's always a dilemna choosing what to pick so having that decided for us was great. Loved it all. Such a nice place for all the right reasons veggie or not.

Feast
Ilminster, South Somerset
29/02/2020: Unfortunately, we waited nearly an hour for lunch, not that this place was exactly buzzing at 12.30pm when we arrived, being a party of 4. We had travelled from London and was really looking forward to lunch and having a new experience. The Thai-style noodle dish that I ordered off the menu was truly awful, just an amalgamation of ingredients which neither complimented one another or was particularly well thought out. Sadly, it was not particularly hot. The mange tout was sadly over-cooked and the noodles just a stringy horrible tangled mess at the bottom of the soup bowl which were somehow, difficult to access from the other 'forced in' ingredients, the small side salad on the plate was neither seasoned nor had any vinaigrette dressing to counter-balance the dryness of the quinoa. Perhaps, I was hoping for a more elegant dish. A re-think on this particularly dish is most certainly needed. Suffice to say my fellow diners found their choices more satisfactory.
28/02/2020: Had lunch here today; what a wonderful experience. The place is a bit quirky, in a good way, staff were really friendly and the food was outstanding. I had the quesadillas and they really were fantastic. I'm not vegetarian but if all vegetarian food tasted this good, I soon would be. I will definitely be back....possibly tomorrow!

The HiVe Cafe
Melcombe Regis, Weymouth and Portland
08/09/2020: We came to the Hive Cafe after it was recommended to us by a family member before lockdown. When walked to the cafe it seemed very busy. Advised it was outdoor seating but what we actually found was a handful of outdoor seats and a lot of marquee/enclosed gazebo seating. The cafe had placed seating/picnic bench outside the main door one way system and people sat there with no masks on. They were unavoidable because this was the only way in! So couldn’t socially distance. The staff did not wear masks!! They were going from table to table serving customers and not washing their hands between them. It was shocking! The cafe said they were adhering to COVID precaution guidelines but this seemed to be a tick box exercise. We decided to go for take away to avoid this awful situation.Their menu is massively over priced - £18 for a large fish and chips which was no bigger than the kids portion of fish and chips and this was greatly over priced too!! The food was tasty but not worth the money or the risk.Never eat here again!
03/04/2020: This was our last eatery to visit before we sadly left the area for home. Friendly, accomodating staff. Good range of food choices. Left happy with full tummies before the long drive home.

The Nest
Northwood Hills, Hillingdon
23/03/2015: Can't fault the food or service, both were excellent. Good portion sizes meant we had more food than we could eat, so the waiter kindly put our leftovers in takeaway pots.
30/01/2015: If you are missing authentic food from India please do visit The Nest . Fantastic service as well . Really really good .....!!

The Mayor's Cafe
Poplar, Nuneaton and Bedworth
04/08/2023: Delicious homemade tomato soup followed b a generous portion of tasty vegetable stir fry.
Efficient, friendly service.
25/07/2023: Absolutely fantastic service, couldn’t have been better. The best salad I have ever eaten. So good I had to have a pot of coleslaw to take home! Children were very happy with their cheese toasties. Most of the produce is grown on-site and the coffee was good too. Would have given more stars if I could!

Bijou Deli Cafe
St. Mary, Powys
26/04/2018: We loved the way this café promotes local products. The barabrith and apple polenta cake were delicious, as was the coffee. Great layout as well, making full use of the small, intimate setting. We'll be back!
17/04/2018: This little place doesn't look much from the outside but the quality of the food is outstanding. It's great to see a short menu of relatively simple dishes done really well. I had an egg sandwich, which doesn't sound that exciting, but it was superb because of the delicious bread and the wonderfully judged addition of a light curry mayonnaise and grated carrot.

The Sitting Room
Cheddar and Shipham, Sedgemoor, <20£
Peculiar, encantador e imaginativa. No te lo puedes perder.
19/04/2015: Went to check this place out and unfortunately has ceased trading on the 20th March. Shame, looked nice! Hopefully they will open up again soon!

29/08/2020: Just had Afternoon Tea, really really nice, in fact you need to be really hungry to get through it!! Doggie box required by mere mortals.

The Black Cat Cafe
Berry Head-with-Furzeham, Torbay
07/07/2015: This was an excellent café serving delicious vegetarian/vegan food. Unfortunately when I went to Brixham at the end of last year I found it had changed hands and was no longer vegetarian, and shortly after that it closed down.
04/10/2014: good food and warm welcome, we love the Black Cat cafe. Beetroot cake is gorgeous, wish you opened more in the evening as Brixham restaurants just can't cook imaginatively without fish or meat it seems.

Hub Cafe
Liskeard South and Dobwalls, Cornwall,Isles of Scilly
22/08/2023: Excellent, tasty, fresh food. Servings were more than ample. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Decor was beautiful. Will visit again regularly as local.
08/08/2023: What a pleasure it was to return to this cafe a year after we last came. Words are not enough to underline to the reader how impressive the food, service, welcome and value for money are at this wonderful vegetarian cafe. The magic worked on your taste buds alone will bring you back here again and again. The quality of the food, its variety of ingredients and the talent, presentation and taste of the food Cathy cooks here is beyond excellent. We have reviewed this venue on Happy Cow last year and said then 'why is this woman not famous' the same rings true today. The passion Cathy brings to her food shows in every dish and we've now tried much of the very wide variety on the menu. Every dish is bursting with flavour, texture and visual perfection. The ingredients Cathy uses, the seeds, vegetables, salads, cheeses all contribute to a rich and enlightening experience, even for those, like us, who have been cooking vegetarian food for decades. The picture attached is of the toasted ciabatta with caramelised onions, a rich creamy sauce and delicious mushrooms topping the bread. It was out of this world and accompanied by an equally incredible salad. The service, venue, relaxed music and the spotless hygiene all contribute to the overall regret that this lovely, lovely lady doesn't run a famous restaurant with Michelin accreditation and the recognition of what she is doing here every single day. This location is not to be missed. If you are in Liskeard and you don't come here to eat, you will have missed the culinary experience of a lifetime. Sit, eat, enjoy and be thankful. This lady works tirelessly to make Vegetarian food that warms the soul.

Tina's Kitchen
Lewes Priory, Lewes
11/08/2019: Locale super accogliente dove vengono cucinati cibi biologici, vegani, senza glutine di altissima qualità a prezzi veramente contenuti.
20/02/2019: Tina welcomed us in to her restaurant and gave us wonderful suggestions on what to eat and combine for lunch. We had a bit if almost everything from her ever changing healthy, nutritious and wonderfully tasty menu! I even bought her cook book, as I wanted to recreate the recipes at home. It was lovely chatting to her and it felt like sitting at a friends house having lunch. I would recommend this restaurant to EVERYONE!
