Bua Thai

St Peters, St Albans
30/03/2020: I've given only 2 stars as the service was not in the least bit friendly. We popped in to book a table for 5 which included a toddler and explained that there would be a pushchair. The manager immediately/rudely exclaimed there wouldn't be room (this was for 6pm), but eventually back tracked and accepted our booking. The food was average but staff generally rude. We won't be going back.
15/03/2020: At Lunch time they have special prices for the Lunch Menu. The Food is always very Tasty and great value for money . They have a special 2 course Lunch, starters and Mains. The Service cannot be faulted and is very friendly. If you like Thai Food this Restaurant is the best.

Bangkok Lounge

Harpenden West, St Albans
15/02/2020: We have been to this Thai restaurant a few times now, once on our own and at other times with family and friends. We've taken my elderly mother and her sensitive digestive system with us and she has not only thoroughly enjoyed her dish but suffered no ill effects! She now prefers Thai food over Chinese.
15/02/2020: Nicely decorated, warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the lady serving us never managed a smile, which must be nearly unique in a Thai restaurant - Thailand itself being called 'The Land of Smiles.' Starters of chicken satay and a coconut soup were enjoyable, but were followed by gaeng keow wan (Thai green curry) which bore little resemblance in flavour to those in Thailand or those at other Thai restaurants in the UK or those that my Thai wife prepared for me.

Thai Rack

Verulam, St Albans, >100£
23/04/2020: We decided last night that for my birthday it would be a good idea to try the Thai Rack take away for lunch. Although we rang to delay our meal the food was delivered by the restaurant at the right time absolutely hot and ample delicious portions. We did enjoy our first experience and will order again soon. Also very reasonable price.
18/04/2020: What a shame, thought we would treat ourselves to a Thai meal to raise spirits in our house at this difficult time. However, we were sorely disappointed, £50 got us cold starters, uncooked chicken satay and the smallest portion of duck ever (paid for half a duck). I called to complain and was told they didn't know who the owner was and the manager Sue was busy!! Definitely do not order your takeaway from here.

Thai Square St Albans

Verulam, St Albans, >100£
22/02/2020: We stopped for lunch on Saturday.
15/02/2020: Ordered three mains, two sides and rice via Deliveroo, so six items. At £60 this seemed expensive, but we went for it anyway.

St Peters, St Albans
31/10/2019: Don’t go there go too Thai King across the road you get what you pay for staff were rude horrible service completely rubbish
15/09/2019: Came across this restaurant in the narrow roadway leading down from the town centre towards the Cathedral. Bright contemporary simple interior. The menu was straightforward with plenty of choice and competitively priced. The food itself came in decent sized portions and was both fresh and tasty. The young lady serving was both friendly and efficient.

Rice & Spice

Harpenden South, St Albans
30/03/2020: Monday Madness deal is excellent, 2 curries and 2 rice for £10. I upped the vibe by adding veg baji' and prawn puri. A lot of food. Been an intermittent regular here for 2.5 yrs, always decent quality and good sized portions.
09/09/2019: Ordered from this place this evening, food was cold when it arrived, taste was poor, rude delivery man. Easy to order online and can pay cash and card. The onion bhaji’s however were lovely. The best part of the order was the coke cola to wash the taste away. Wouldn’t order from here again.

The Goat

St Peters, St Albans
14/08/2019: The staff are friendly. The food is plentiful. There are lots of different veg. It is all good value. The only thing which I think needs sorting is, that with it being a traditional old pub with dark little corners and areas it doesn't help that there often don't seem to be light bulbs installed and its hard to get anyone to put them in especially while people are eating. It would be great if there were little tea lights in jars or something. We have returned here often as we know what to expect and feel the prices are fair. I have often joked though that if I had the gumption I would just bring my own tea light and a lighter. Not a real problem though. Look about you should easily find a table next to a window.
08/02/2019: Great pub with excellent choice of beers , shows Sky Sports, has a nice beer garden. Does not open in the day during the week sadly.

Paya Oriental

Harpenden West, St Albans
24/04/2020: As the most expensive restaurant around you'd expect the quality to reflect. The food was actually the worst I've ever had. Also tiny potions - we had 3 spare pancakes as we ran out of duck, which means an 8th of duck cost us £10. If you're looking to spend this kind of money on duck I'd recommend going to the King's Head in Ivinghoe - it's probably cheaper. This was the first takeaway evening that ended in a packet of crisps.
19/04/2020: We have lived in Harpenden for 5 years and have only just had our first Chinese TA from Paya Oriental. We ordered Vegetable Sweet and Sour, Egg Fried Rice and Prawn Toast with a bag of prawn crackers. Oh my goodness. Never had such delicious Sesame Prawn Toast. The sweet and sour was not as sugary as other take aways but this is good, is was lovely. Delivery said 45 minutes and was 20 minutes early. Food was hot. Will order again, Thank you!

Soht Aroy

St Peters, St Albans
