The Jews House Restaurant

Carholme, Lincoln, 30-45£
06/01/2019: Having had a wonderful meal here in August my partner and I booked ourselves a special treat, the ‘tasting menu’ on 21st December. We were terribly disappointed. Service was incredibly slow, we were there for over 3 hours as service ground to a halt. At very nearly £100 a head we didn’t feel the food was as good as our previous meal and the steak course was so tough as to be inedible. The table next to us sent theirs back uneaten too and then abandoned their meal before the last 2 courses. Even though the proprietor cleared our plates of uneaten food there was no acknowledgement of our complaint, nor apology made. I e mailed the Jews House directly about our experience but found their reply condescending, the implication was that any fault with their food was our problem as it was generally well received. The internet had gone down that evening which was their excuse for delays but surely, again, an explanation and apology would have been appropriate. I’m sorry but the offer of a free bottle of wine ‘when we return’ won’t bring us back and has resulted in this sad review.
03/01/2019: Been several times to this restaurant bit this by far was the best. Food was 1st class, flavours amazing. Wine choices were amazing. Yes it's high end budget but for me well worth it. Would rather go out less and have this quality. Service is about as good as it gets all staff could answer any question about the food. Can't wait to go again.

Bar Castillejar Louth

Priory, East Lindsey, <20£
24/12/2018: Had lunch in this cosy small restaurant.Food was excellent quality and service too.
25/11/2018: Nice restaurant but tapas to use was average. I appreciate a lot of tapas is fried, accentuated by use of cured meats, but we found every dish to be very greasy. Not shocking but busy enough so must be doing something right

Trent Bridge, Rushcliffe
10/12/2018: really enjoyed the food here, and their lunch menu is excellent value for money. Chicken wings and chorizo dishes were delicious. Will return
02/12/2018: We regularly dine at Escabeche but really rate their roast options on a Sunday. I am a very fussy eater and whilst I always ask for the beef without the shallots, they are able to deliver a plate of rare and succulent beef with crunchy fresh vegetables and crispy roast potatoes on every visit, regardless of time. So it must be that they cook to demand which is so refreshing. Staff have now supplied a steak knife for me which is very much appreciated. If I had to make one last request, it would be to add a little Yorkshire pud but even if this doesn’t transpire, we will continue to be enthusiastic and loyal regulars. I was a little reluctant to post this review as we don’t want the place to be so packed we can’t just get in on spec but the staff there really do deserve this positive feedback on such a little gem of a place on WB.

Sol y Luna

Phippsville, Northampton
03/03/2018: We ate here for a friend's birthday. It was quite cozy inside but I think that adds to the restaurants ambience. The menu has a good range of dishes to choose from and the food was delicious. We were all really impressed with the quality of food. The only negatives for us, was the prices of the tapas, we felt that they were slightly over priced. But apart from that we felt that the restaurant offered a good dining experience.
25/02/2018: Scratching my head this morning at how we managed to pay £53 for 4 average tasting tapas dishes, 1 soft drink and 1 beer served up in a cold tent! Had we been told we’d be eating outside we’d have gone somewhere else but even that aside, ridiculously overpriced. If you want tapas and you’re undecided whether to eat here, I’d suggest not to but go Les Olives instead - if nothing else, it’s indoors and warm! Won’t be going back.

White Lion Bar & Kitchen

Beeston Central, Broxtowe
14/09/2018: Met up with a small group of friends and had a lovely relaxed evening. Two of the group ordered food and it looked lovely. They really enjoyed the meals. I have tried pastie de nata on a previous visit and it was glorious.
19/06/2018: Unfortunately we went to eat in this pigsty, owner or manager dirty and rude, no one to assist you and possibly no one in the kitchen, food burned and in poor condition, I do not advise anyone, prevent from entering such a pigsty.
