Couper's Creek

Black Isle, Highland
25/11/2018: A hot bowl of Cullen skunk was my introduction to this lovely restaurant. Friendly folk and really fabulous food. Cakes that will make you want to move to Cromarty permanently. Only 90 minutes by plane and a 40 minute drive from most anywhere in the UK...and well worth the effort. Don't let the shipping forecast deter you.
01/11/2018: Purely on spec stopped off for well deserved refreshments. Excellent drinks, service, and coffee and walnut cake provided by very friendly staff. The cafe is spacious and welcoming with a selection of paintings by local artists for sale. Thank you.

10/12/2018: I do not know how they do it. Turkey fabulous, all the homemade sauces were amazing, veg perfect and the a Christmas pudding to die for. Truly wonderful.

Steòrnabhagh a Deas, Eilean Siar
11/09/2018: Wir tranken hier einen Kaffee und aßen Scones und die schmeckten sehr gut. Ansonsten gab es verschiedenes Gebäck.

Red Pepper Restaurant

Thurso, Highland
26/10/2018: We have eaten here many times and enjoyed it immensely, however I must say something about our last meal, the prosseco came in an ice bucket with no ice, upon asking for English mustard we were brought SACHETS on a plate, we would have expected that in a cafe or roadside burger bar, the sachets of mustard were not even branded and after biting it open with my teeth and squeezing it, we likened it to a splat of imagine for yourself, also the steak was not up to standard either, the waiter was attentative to our needs and brought my 82 mother exactly what she asked for, I must say unless the sachets are ditched we wont be coming back.
22/10/2018: We enjoyed our first dinner at the Red Pepper so much, we came back again the next night. All meals were great - we tried the duck, venison and monkfish. The accommodated my wife's gluten allergy. The sticky toffee pudding may be the best in Scotland!

Storehouse Cafe

Land Caithness Ward, Highland
31/10/2018: We had high hopes for our breakfast at the storehouse but we’re dissapointed. The menu was very limited. I ordered porridge which came out not quite cooked and the staff couldn’t provide me with any honey. Husband’s bacon roll was pretty standard. And it was expensive. Radio was blaring latest pop tunes, which to be honest was quite annoying and not what you expected given the decor. All in all felt like an overly commercial operation. Wouldn’t go back. Go to stacks instead.
27/10/2018: Came hear years ago and the cafes were dire - now the Storehouse is modern and bright and a pleasure to have a coffee break on a cold wet day at the end of the world.

The Creel Restaurant with Rooms

East Mainland, South Ronaldsay and Burray, Orkney Islands
10/10/2017: The owner does not always serve food! We asked and he created a menu especially for us! The scallops with a homemade sauce were superb as was the lamb tagine. I thought the dessert of marrons with creme fraiche would be terrible but the combination worked! Really good choice of wines but very different. We had one from Georgia! Just the four of us ate, a bit like being in a supper club, a truly fantastic evening.
30/06/2017: This is situated at water's edge with free parking in front. Good view from room and restaurant. Room not luxurious but fine and roomy. Breakfasts good and evening meal very good although only available now and again. Hosts very friendly and helpful.

Tannochbrae Restaurant

Speyside Glenlivet, Moray
26/09/2018: Tannochbrae is a must in your stay in Dufftown. James and Louis run a top notch B&B; and restaurant. Make reservations. Come a tad early and have a drink and a dram in their cozy sitting room. Order from the sitting room and will be seated when your food is ready. The food is fresh, local, and very very good. Take your time and enjoy this elegant Scottish experience. Save room for dessert!
23/06/2018: Fantastic meal including locally made (made by the Tannochbrae owners in fact) Balvenie St Ice Cream in various whisky flavours. I highly recommend. Note that at present this restaurant is only open on Mondays.
