Eat on the Green

Mid Formartine, Aberdeenshire
08/03/2020: Ten of us attended our First Ladies day at EOTG, hopefully it will not be our last. The whole experience was amazing from beginning to end, the food and drink fabulous, service very good, staff very friendly and entertainment brilliant - totally recommend. Well done Craig & Staff we WILL be back
29/02/2020: This was our first visit here, having heard nothing but great reviews. From the minute we walked through the door, we could see why. A warm friendly atmosphere from attentive and friendly staff. The choice of drinks was extensive with a little bit of everything, including quality alcohol free beers for the unfortunate driver. From the canapés through to the desserts, everything was top notch. The Taste of Eat on the Green starter was delicious. Our chicken and Beef dishes were cooked to perfection. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted such melt in the mouth Beef before. The head chef Craig, also made the effort to pop out occasionally and talk to and welcome some of the guests which I thought was a very nice touch. A 1st Class dining experience, we will most definitely be back.

Rothesay Rooms

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Aberdeenshire
16/03/2020: We booked in to the Rothesay for a special occasion during our holidays & we were touched by the lengths the Head Chef Ross & the other Staff went to on the night. From the service & atmosphere to the exceptional food & wine we truely had one of the best meals we have ever. Thanks again :-) we will certainly highly recommend to Family & Friends.
07/03/2020: We had dinner here on 6th March and whilst the restaurant was relatively quiet (7 or 8 tables of two) the ambience and front of house service was first class - neither rushed nor intrusive, getting the balance just right. We were served an appetiser of white bait with alioli accompaniment - very tasty. My “pig” filled ravioli starter was perfect, the ravioli was so thin and light, perfect for showcasing the depth of flavour in the meat. My guinea fowl main was an absolute winner too, it was melt in the mouth perfection. My husband had steak tartare followed by the venison and both dishes were outstanding (I sampled both!) We didn’t think we’d room for desserts but given the quality and delicious-ness of our previous courses, we had a wee break before I ordered poached pear, with white chocolate ice cream and a nut brittle, whilst my husband had cranachan with panacotta. What can I say? Both desserts were deliciously yummy and light, so a piece of advice, don’t pass on the desserts thinking you’re too full up, you’ll miss the perfect end to a perfect meal.

Fennel

Inverurie and District, Aberdeenshire, <20£
18/07/2020: Our first visit since lockdown and we were not disappointed! Lots of additional precautions put in place to make us feel safe without it feeling clinical or industrial. The staff were extremely attentive and professional and had clearly had training on the new Covid procedures. The restaurant was busy but plenty of space for distancing and at no point did we feel concerned about people being close to us. Loved the new menu, the food was delicious and expertly presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone not sure about going in these uncertain times! Thank you to the lovely people at Fennel for making things feel a bit more 'normal' again. Can't wait to go back!

nazma tandoori

Torry / Ferryhill, Aberdeen City
25/02/2020: Visited Nazma Tandoori on a very cold Saturday evening. Having not been there for a number of years I was a bit apprehensive about it being as good as I had remembered. The restaurant was lovely, warm and inviting. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, without being over the top. There were four of us and all are meals were really nice with just the right amount of spice. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening there and definably won't be long until we are back.

Angus & Ale

George St / Harbour, Aberdeen City
14/03/2020: We went in for lunch using the ITISON deal and we were not disappointed. From the alleyway street outside I was a bit hesitant but the inside is lovely. Service was very friendly however the food was definitely the star of the show. We had the Big Jock Burger and Schoolhill Special, both came with rosemary fries and we shared a coleslaw. Both were freshly made and huge!! We will definitely be back
07/03/2020: What a nice snug wee place this is! A wee gem of a place, guy on phone to book and greeted us very welcoming, nice hot food, full plates were empty plates, rosemary fries were different but so good!! Confusing the offer as 2 main meals and sides of onion rings or coleslaw, was to share so I couldn’t have the coleslaw, my guest had the onion rings which my stomach can’t cope with I asked if could have half and half so next time I’m back definitely my turn for coleslaw, this place is so nice!! 100% recommend, photo for sole purpose of proof I was there today!!

Cafe Boheme

Torry / Ferryhill, Aberdeen City, 20-30£
28/07/2020: I have eaten in many places here in the uk and around the world in many Michelin star restaurants this restaurant is amongst the top three. fantastic in every way. Being a vegetarian married to a carnivore is always difficult and normally the only option on the menu is salad, gnocchi or mushroom risotto not at Cafe Bohème the chef takes as much effort in producing beautiful vegetarian meals along with the rest on offer. Along with the wonderful waiting staff an evening to remember Do not miss this gem if you are in Aberdeen should have a Michelin star.
24/07/2020: Wife and I had an early dinner here this evening after house hunting all day. We are out of town so had no idea what to really expect. Dining room well spaced out for social distancing etc and the staff we’re very attentive to hygiene, whilst continuing to be professional and polite. Chef provided an amuse-bouche which was lovely. We had the bouillabaisse and the duck confit. Both were delicious. The creme brûlée topped off a very nice meal. Next time we are in Aberdeen, we will definitely be visiting this place.

The Bothy

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Aberdeenshire
16/03/2020: Solid homey food with good coffee to match! Very much enjoyed our breakfasts we had here when staying the area. The dining room also has a lovely view over the river - and we even spotted a red squirrel while there!
10/03/2020: We both had soup and toasties. Nothing wrong at all except the soup didn’t have much flavour, but otherwise great. What’s not to like.
