Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland, 60-100£
08/12/2018: Saturday night in Waternish was spent at the Loch Bay and what a night! The setting is stunning - next to the shore overlooking the hills across the bay. The interior is cosy but at the same time you do not feel cramped or close to other diners.
30/11/2018: We came all the way from Denmark to try out this little hidden gem - and we could not be more happy. Wonderful nature gem - small little town and harbour area - the restaurant is small but very very cosy. And the staff is so friendly and makes you feel right at home. We choose the 3 course dinner and had a wonderful shell-fish soup - the duck for main course and off course we had to try the 3 times cooked chrisps - for dessert we had the clothie dumplings and the dessert assiete - and every little bite was delicious - and off course we had the best wine paired for the meal .Cannot recommend this little place enough - you will have to try it out for yourself :-)

Skoon Art Cafe

Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch, Eilean Siar
28/11/2018: great location with spectacular views - food tasty and fresh - ideal for a light lunch limited menu which is fine for lunch
24/10/2018: We visited for lunch on a horrible wet day. We managed to get the last table as the place was so busy, despite it being a bit off the beaten track. The food was lovely- delicious soup and the best carrot cake I’ve ever had! The paintings were all so beautiful I could have spent a fortune! We would definitely go back if visiting Harris again- it’s a shame the cafe is not going to run in 2019 but I’d still recommend a visit to the gallery.

Glen Rowan Cafe

Aird and Loch Ness, Highland, <20£
29/11/2018: I visited this place three times during my travels - just kept going back as the hot chocolate and atmosphere were great. This cafe is off the side of the road. They have excellent Belgian chocolate hot chocolate. Friends had coffee and they said it was excellent. Others in the cafe were having food - didn't have time for this. Washrooms are nice and they sell nice photos and Harris tweed products. Excellent service.
08/11/2018: We were in Glenmoriston early and were looking for a light snack while waiting for our B&B; to open. This cafe was just a short walk and well worth the effort. The service was friendly, fast, and efficient.. The cake was memorable and the tea was good. We wished that they were open for dinner, but were not.

Glenfinnan Station Museum Dining Car

Caol and Mallaig, Highland
30/10/2018: We came across this place by accident when looking for somewhere for lunch. What a friendly pleasant experience. We had soup and a sandwich which was served quickly and a lovely place to have it. Great.
28/10/2018: Estabamos en ruta desde Skye a Oban y buscabamos un sitio donde comer, por casualidad nos encontramos un cartel hacia este Dining y fue maravilloso.

Cafe Eighty 2

Aird and Loch Ness, Highland
12/12/2018: We were looking for somewhere to eat around noon while biking the GGW. Spotted this place and really licked out. The food was amazing and surprising. Standard lunch stuff but with great ingredients and so well made. The coffee was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.
06/12/2018: We stayed in Drumnadrochit & visited this cafe both days we were there. Their interior is so cute & quirky, with their old tea sets to their modern log burner, it was a really cosy place to sit & relax! Their menu was really good considering it’s a little cafe in a small town. I live in Edinburgh & some cafes here wouldn’t do as wide a menu as they did. My nephew adored the French toast with bacon, maple syrup & fruit! So much so we waited around until they opened at 11am on Sunday when we were leaving. Lovely place & really friendly staff x

Fortrose Cafe

Black Isle, Highland, <20£
21/11/2018: This is a cosy quaint café that cannot be missed on the way through Fortrose. Staff were really friendly and accommodating.
12/11/2018: We popped in for a quick coffee and breakfast roll after getting up early to do some dolphin spotting at Chanonry Point.

Croft 36

Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch, Eilean Siar
27/11/2018: My first time on Harris and I’m so glad I found this bakery! Wow the food was amazing....

Anderson's Restaurant

Badenoch and Strathspey, Highland, 20-30£
18/12/2018: This guy can cook...for anyone who has never tried Andersons...well you are missing out big style. Every time we stay at Aviemore we always take a trip to is the highlight of our week...definitely the best food in the area. A wonderful meal last night...along with fantastic service. It is just simply a great experience from booking to paying the bill. Well done to all the staff at Andersons....till we are back again. Merry Christmas Guys...have a great well earned break. From The Brown Family From Stirling
14/12/2018: An excellent meal from start to finish. Waiters were very welcoming and quick to seat us and get drinks. Food was second to none and good portions with beautiful presentation. I’m so glad I’ve finally found somewhere up here that has that extra bit of quality in their food. When the bill came we were very surprised by just how good value it was for the satisfaction. Go here.

Digby Chick

Steòrnabhagh a Deas, Eilean Siar
02/12/2018: No complaints here. The early evening menu was excellent. We both agreed that we could have had anything on the menu. Pleasant surroundings and staff
29/11/2018: A flying visit to Stornoway and the wind and sea had beaten even the hardiest Ferry captain. We came across this little restaurant in Stornoway near the harbour. Simple but good quality fresh produce never fails. Caramelised scallops and salty mussels followed by a fish platter and Minch cod with fluffy coriander rice. Great cooked fish always impresses me and my palate. Soft flakes of gorgeous fish who can ask for more. Simple done well ticks all my boxes. Nice wines and Mai Tais always go down easy. Friendly efficient staff and not forsilly money. A warm and friendly atmosphere. Will come again just wanting some of the famous local crayfish and of course more scallops, never enough scallops.

Rocpool Restaurant

Inverness Central, Highland
16/12/2018: We ate here and found the food very good , faultless . The noise level was high , no atmosphere and so very clostrafobic . The seating is far far too close together .It would seem that the tables are packed in for as many services possible . To this end I would not recommend it . The drinks are extortionate at nearly £10 for a glass of wine , no not in any sense of the word value for money .
16/12/2018: Had lunch there and was outstanding. I had the scallops and venison and couldn't fault either. The staff was great and restaurant had a lovely feel to it.

Plockton Shores Restaurant

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, 30-45£
30/11/2018: Have eaten here in the evening once before a few years ago - I remember it being excellent then and was not disappointed today. It being low season there are fewer places open but you wouldn't tell here - lovely little place. We both had soup (Cullen skink which was great and a curried sweet potato and coconut which my partner said was lovely) which came with fresh, warm bread. I then had fish cakes with lime and coriander which were partially scoffed by a toddler (ours, not a random one) - delicious.
11/11/2018: Reservations are required during high season. We came with reservations made through Rabbie's Tours.

Scorrybreac Restaurant

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
17/11/2018: Last night we had an absolutely excellent meal at the Scorrybraec. The food was of high quality, cooked and presented with flair and imagination. The service was superb as was the ambience. We are lucky to have some great places to eat here on Skye and last night’s meal stood out as one of the best.
05/11/2018: Very disappointing with Scorrybreac. Had a fantastic meal here last summer and had booked a trip to Skye again for my 30th birthday treat. I reserved a table online a while back as I was so keen to visit the restaurant again. Got a text this afternoon saying my table for this Sunday evening has been cancelled as the restaurant isn’t open, but it is from next weekend onwards. Very poor planning on the restaurant’s part - why bother taking online bookings? Gutted that a big birthday treat and trip from London is marred by the restaurant not being able to manage it’s diary properly, when I had such an amazing time there last summer.

The Whitehouse

Fort William and Ardnamurchan, Highland, 60-100£
04/11/2018: From the front of the restaurant it looks like a greasy spoon but once inside it is lovely . Fresh fish and lovely food . Very attentive. Waitress happy and jolly . Enjoyed our meal immensely and glad we took the chance and went in
31/10/2018: I am not a fan of taster menus but the choices I made were all superb and the balance of flavors and tastes were perfect. The mussels to start with smoked fish served with seaweed in what was almost a cullen skink type broth was to die for. Next up salmon with a perfectly crisped and salty skin served with a scallop and smoked mussels was devine. loin of lamb followed again perfectly cooked and the fresh mint leaves just complimented it perfectly and I finished with a sweet of locally picked brambles made into various items. I loved every mouthful of this meal..... Nearly every ingredient sourced locally or grown in the garden. This is as good as it gets...

Skye Pie Cafe

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
17/12/2018: food was ok just seemed a bit more style over substance, from the reviews I had seen before I was expecting more.
12/12/2018: I have so much about the Pie Shop that I was looking forward to our visit. By the time we visited Skye we found the Pie Shop for the winter.

Gille Brighde

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland
17/12/2018: 9 hour walk over Being Alligin in scorching temperature we retreated to this fabulous
25/10/2018: We managed to get the last table and booked for dinner after a tough walk around the area. It is a really cosy restaurant with stove fire and nice selection of beers. The food was excellent and covered our vegan needs. The hosts are wonderful. Just check opening times and call ahead as there are limited tables.
