The Lodge

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
21/01/2020: Thanks so much Calum, John and the entire crew! A truly lovely, memorable meal- friendly welcome, impeccable service, standout food showing such respect for the fresh, local produce you source.... what more can we say except we will be back!
20/01/2020: This was a sensational Tasting menu!! Service was impeccable, the wine flight was perfection but the star was the food!!! Just faultless!! Chef Callum Montgomery came to chat after our meal, he is one to watch. If you’re in Skye this restaurant is unmisssble.

Nannys Shop

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, >100£
06/11/2019: Lovely little cafe with great views across the Loch. Great selection of local produce and freshly baked cakes, I would heartily recommend the Apple & Blackcurrant cake drizzled with cream. This cafe seems to be the hub of village life with plenty of locals calling in for coffee, cake and a blether.
17/10/2019: What a great cafe. What FANTASTIC hot smoked salmon chowder. We had the soup sandwich combo...wish I’d had a large bowl of the chowder. Nice friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland, 60-100£
02/01/2020: A truly memorable meal, comfortable and friendly with excellent service in a friendly and efficient environment. The seafood speciality was the best we have ever eaten!
01/01/2020: Some say that to travel hopefully is better than to arrive. Our journey to the restaurant involved a 90-minute drive in soggy, windy weather; for those not used to driving on single-track roads, this may prove a shock. The car park just beyond the restaurant has adequate space. Stepping into the restaurant was akin to stepping into someone's front room: the restaurant could seat, I estimated, no more than twenty-two diners. The welcome was warm and service prompt.

The Foveran Restaurant

Kirkwall West and Orphir, Orkney Islands, 30-45£
07/01/2020: Great food and staff well worth a visit good atmosphere very clean and tidy nice lounge for a drink and pre-order, plenty of room to back car.
24/12/2019: The Foveran might be down a small road but don't expect it to be a small restuarant, it is actually quite large with seating in one big room albeit with excellent views across the bay.

The Cabin

Caol and Mallaig, Highland
26/10/2019: Lovely little place to eat whilst stopping in Mallaig on the Jacobite route. We had lentil broth and fish and chips. Absolutely brilliant.
22/10/2019: We visited on a day trip, straight off the train from Fort William. The Cabin, is compact and rustic, with a limited menu, but boy the food is good... particularly the Cullen Skink, warm and hearty ... grilled haddock was delicious as were the New Potatoes in Butter and Herbs ... not much open in Mallaig in late October, but The cabin was worth the journey!

Cafe Eighty 2

Aird and Loch Ness, Highland
16/11/2019: Very welcoming and very clean , staff very very polite also . Great looking menu but only had cakes on this visit . I will certainly be back next time i am passing .
08/11/2019: Lovely selection of cakes including vegan and gluten-free. Welcome sanctuary on a wet November afternoon!

Sutor Creek

Black Isle, Highland
06/01/2020: When in the Highlands we always make the effort to drive to Cromarty and have lunch here. The food is fantastic and the staff local and thoroughly excellent.
16/12/2019: I would highly avoid this place as they use cheap bases for their pizzas and foremost they charge quite a bit for the pleasure.

Crannag Bistro

North, West and Central Sutherland, Highland, 30-45£
24/11/2019: ...a theme night at Crannag last night and a experience at best... great food - the 3-course dinner was superb - and nice atmosphere.
13/10/2019: We went to the Crannag last night, 12/10/2019. The food was great especially the lamb rump, it was so tender and melt in the mouth. I had the Vietnamese caramelized pork which was absolutely to die for. As a starter I had the venison kebabs which were lovely and full of flavour with the different combined spices. The dip that went with them was also lovely. The portions are extremely generous and we left unable to eat another thing. The owner is very attentive of all the customers and even though busy serving was always there asking if we were satisfied - which we definately were!!! We will definately be back.

Ferry Inn Hotel

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
31/12/2019: Gordon was a most gracious host for this fantastic and comfortable B&B.; To make the place even more fabulous, it has an awesome restaurant. We ate there every night of our stay - the food was out of this world, lamb, venison and local fish.
18/12/2019: My husband and I visited here for our last meal on Skye and so pleased we did! This was walking distance from our cottage in Uig. The staff were really welcoming, not to mention the roaring fire. Our dinner was delicious. The interior design is so nice - I took several pictures as inspiration!! My only suggestion would be turn the music down a little bit (or maybe I'm just getting old haha!). Next time we visit Skye we'd like to book a room for the night. Highly recommended!

Croft 36

Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch, Eilean Siar
21/12/2019: We were lucky enough to be staying in self-catering accommodation opposite the Croft 36 hut so we’re able to visit daily. Tried most things on offer during our two week stay and found that there was always something we fancied or could eat - a lot of dietary needs were catered for. The fresh bread was great and reminded us of village bread that we used to have in Turkey. However........the frangipane tarts were immense!! I am getting hunger pangs just writing about them!!
19/10/2019: Visited your little shop this morning and bought a beautiful homemade loaf that was still hot from the oven. We drove back to Tarbert and our self-catering cottage and made ourselves some lovely tuna and cucumber sandwiches using your loaf. They were delicious. The best bread I’ve tasted for a very long time. Thank you. If we lived on Harris we would be buying a lot of your tasty bread!

Rocpool Restaurant

Inverness Central, Highland
19/01/2020: Dinner for four to celebrate a few birthdays all around the festive period. Rocpool is the main place for fine dining in Inverness. Food was immense, staff was attentive and cheerful and beer/wine chilled - what more do you need.
14/01/2020: I’m fortunate to dine at Rocpool frequently and I have never had a negative experience, my visit last night with friends was excellent, one in particular had not been before but he can’t wait to return. The food is wonderful and so flavoursome. The early evening menu and lunch menu is varied and delicious, A la Carte a complete delight - such a choice – my favourite being the Linguini with Scallops and King Prawns. It is such a boost for Inverness to have such an amazing restaurant, my friends who are well travelled and are privileged enough to eat in some of the most prestigious restaurants have said that Rocpool is by far one of the best places they have every dined.

The Pier Cafe

North, West and Central Sutherland, Highland
19/01/2020: Stopped in for a lunch and the place was very busy mostly tourists enjoying themselves in one of the limited places to eat. Ordered a pot of tea and a toasty. Clean place good toilets and lovely views over the water. A wee bit expensive but no problem with the food or service. Plenty of parking outside and a welcome stop off if traveling.
23/12/2019: From the road this is nothing to look at, in fact you would wonder if its an eating place at all except for the name. It's a plain white building in a car park.

The Wee Puffin

Badenoch and Strathspey, Highland, <20£
02/01/2020: A great find as where where we were heading was closed. Very friendly team and plenty of choice on the menu. Food was very well cooked and tasty. Super selection of whiskey also! Well done to all involved.
28/12/2019: Great friendly restaurant. Food freshly cooked and delicious. The owners have good knowledge of whisky and spare the time to talk..

Lochcarron Bistro

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, 20-30£
23/11/2019: We got a lovely welcome last night at the Lochcarron Bistro, and the food was delicious too, very tasty Rosti with Strathdon Blue cheese salad, and a lovely rich onion tart. Highly recommended!
22/10/2019: I popped in for something to eat and was seated and served quickly. I chose a starter (Cullen Skink) and a desert (toasted banana bread and sauce). The soup was pretty disappointing as the fish was overdone and the bread was stale! I am surprised they even served it.

Fortrose Cafe

Black Isle, Highland, <20£
02/12/2019: After early walk with dogs on beach went for Brunch. Enjoyed Full Scottish Breakfast with great cappuccino. Great value, lovely staff also enjoyed Fleetwood Mac playing in background. I highly recommend
13/11/2019: Wow just wow. Stopped here for a quick cup of tea and a cake. Just a random stop but so glad we did. Had a coconut tart and malteser tray bake, both were delicious and obviously homemade. We were sorry we weren’t hungry enough for lunch as the food around us looked amazing. Would definitely go back if we were in the area.
