The Lodge

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
18/10/2019: My husband I enjoyed a delightful dinner recently. We were surprised and impressed with the quality of the food. Our young waitress did an excellent job serving us. It was a very pleasant meal. Too bad, it is too far for us to return anytime soon.
10/10/2019: I was staying at the edinbane lodge for my sisters wedding. It couldn’t have been more perfect! They think of everything, little details like homemade shortbread in the room, locally made soap in bathrooms, comfortable bed, bathrobes, local artist’s work on the walls and visually on the eye a very well thought out room with lots of love and care put in it.

Glen Rowan Cafe

Aird and Loch Ness, Highland, <20£
13/10/2019: My husband and I have been traveling Europe for the last four weeks and this cafe gave us the best cappuccino we have had since leaving Port Macquarie, NSW Australia. Their food was outstanding as well.
11/10/2019: This cafe is really really good. Very cozy, clean neat and tidy. The staffs are friendly and nice. the Food are absolutely good. Highly recommend come here and take a break=]

Nannys Shop

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, >100£
17/10/2019: What a great cafe. What FANTASTIC hot smoked salmon chowder. We had the soup sandwich combo...wish I’d had a large bowl of the chowder. Nice friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed.
16/10/2019: During our stay in Shieldaig we had three times breakfast at Nanny's. I'm especially fond of their Scottish pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, but the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs stacked on toast (white or brown, as you prefer) are worth tasting. My personal advice: order the filter coffee, it is really excellent (and includes free refill).

Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland, 60-100£
20/10/2019: We were based in the Glendale area about 40 minutes away. Booked here as always wanted to go . We came for lunch 2 courses at about £30 or 3 courses for £34. We had the 3 courses and each course has 3 options- 1 which was vegetarian for me. Some bread and scones came with a butter and a mackerel pate to nibble on with tap, still or sparkling water. The water glasses are etched by a local artist and worth an extra look. We had a glass of white wine each at about £8 a chardonnay and a Sauvignon blanc. We had for hubby the Smokey bree a thick rich fish soup, the Loch Bay Bourride (hake and squid) and the Chocolate & amaretti Delice with berries and ginger and lemon ice cream. I had Safron & Rosemary Panisse with shaved fennel and citrus fruit ( so light and tasty), Roast cauliflower with spiced pulses, grains, seeds and tahini dressing ( a orchestra in the mouth) and the Clootie dumpling with whisky cream and custard ( like a cloud and I so want to try the souffle now!). Coffee with shortbread rounded off a superb meal.Highly recommend a trip here and worth the long drive.
19/10/2019: It’s always scary taking foodie friends to our favourite restaurant. We needn’t have worried. We opted for the taster menu, which we definitely prefer. Every course was made and prepared with love but without being overcomplicated or pretentious. Difficult to choose a favourite course but the scallops were much discussed. Obviously, the location is amazing but when you step into this restaurant you are entering a place that is incredibly special. Not at all surprised that Michael and his team retained the Michelin star.

The Cabin

Caol and Mallaig, Highland
20/10/2019: Visited recently whilst travelling in the area. The restaurant is tiny and has about 8 tables. The staff were very friendly and I enjoyed a Skye Bottled Beer whilst I waited for my food - velvet crab soup with crusty bread - fabulous. I then had Cod and chips - freshly caught and delicious too!
11/10/2019: We spent our lunch break at this lovely place. Very nice staff and amazing seafood. Especially the mussels in white wine cream sauce were to die for - soft and tasty with the creamiest of sauces and some of the best bread I’ve had in a while! Fish’n’chips was fluffy and delicious as well! If you come into town on the train, go there directly as it fills up fast!!

The Foveran Restaurant

Kirkwall West and Orphir, Orkney Islands, 30-45£
10/10/2019: Ottima location per una cena da leccarsi i baffi
09/10/2019: Excellent service and great food made a welcome respite from the usual fare up this way. The wine list was adequate.

Sutor Creek

Black Isle, Highland
16/10/2019: There on Sunday night with family. Pizza was the best!! Lovely cosy friendly atmosphere, the waiter and waitress couldnt have done more without being overbearing. Definitely be back!
14/10/2019: The food was bloody delicious and the staff where very friendly and efficient. I had the wood pigeon to start. And then a pizza which was very tasty. The desserts where the highlight though. We had chocolate delice and ginger panna cotta. They were sooo good!

Cafe Eighty 2

Aird and Loch Ness, Highland
11/10/2019: The 5 star rating on trip advisor is totally deserved as the coffee and cake was outstanding as was the service. Added to this was the interesting and quirky decor.
09/10/2019: Popped in for a bite to eat after visiting Drumnadrochit, slightly out of the town but well worth it. A warm and friendly welcome in to the quiet and tastefully decorated cafe, lots of lovely looking cakes on display and a small but interesting menu on offer. I opted for the highland breakfast and can honestly say that it was the tastiest cooked breakfast I think I have ever had. All freshly cooked and piping hot food, made for just the perfect size meal, outstanding.

Crannag Bistro

North, West and Central Sutherland, Highland, 30-45£
13/10/2019: We went to the Crannag last night, 12/10/2019. The food was great especially the lamb rump, it was so tender and melt in the mouth. I had the Vietnamese caramelized pork which was absolutely to die for. As a starter I had the venison kebabs which were lovely and full of flavour with the different combined spices. The dip that went with them was also lovely. The portions are extremely generous and we left unable to eat another thing. The owner is very attentive of all the customers and even though busy serving was always there asking if we were satisfied - which we definately were!!! We will definately be back.
05/10/2019: We stopped by thinking we’d only have a main, and ended up having three courses each! This is a really lovely restaurant, nicely appointed, with a genuinely excellent, sophisticated menu. You choose from the blackboard up by the bar which means the owner Ian is right on hand to offer suggestions or talk you through it. I also had a spot right by the fire which was just what I needed after a long day walking. I had a beautiful crab masala to start - and the lamb for main was a real treat. Just when I thought I’d finished I went for a Bakewell tart - which was glorious. Would absolutely recommend if you want some brilliant food with very attentive and kind service. The owner Ian was a joy!

Croft 36

Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch, Eilean Siar
19/10/2019: Visited your little shop this morning and bought a beautiful homemade loaf that was still hot from the oven. We drove back to Tarbert and our self-catering cottage and made ourselves some lovely tuna and cucumber sandwiches using your loaf. They were delicious. The best bread I’ve tasted for a very long time. Thank you. If we lived on Harris we would be buying a lot of your tasty bread!
16/10/2019: Thanks for letting us taste the lovely local cuisine today and allowing us to post a cheque as we had no cash with us. That's honesty! Veg curry pasties and home made bread were delightful.

The Wee Puffin

Badenoch and Strathspey, Highland, <20£
19/10/2019: Visited The Wee Puffin restaurant whilst staying overnight in Grantown. It was so cosy with really lovely staff who were so kind to my 4 yr old nephew, giving him and his teddys puffin stickers and a lolly. Our meals were delicious and very reasonably priced with big portions. A good variety of drinks and dishes on the menu with a specials board. A lovely evening.
07/10/2019: Das Nachtessen war ausgezeichnet. So ein richtiger Schotten-Pub. Man müsste aber vielleicht auch 1/2-Portionen anbieten. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Liverpool-Fan!

Rocpool Restaurant

Inverness Central, Highland
18/10/2019: Went for a celebratory meal with family from abroad. Food was lovely, really good, however we felt let down by the service. Owner was strutting about but not once did he, or any other staff ask if we were enjoying our meal. As locals it is still our first choice for eating out in Inverness but we were brought the wrong drinks and then the afagato was cold - I think they forgot the espresso but by that point it was a case of its time to go. Its always busy and buzzing but maybe a little more attention to detail is required. We will still go back hopefully this was a one off.

Glenfinnan Station Museum Dining Car

Caol and Mallaig, Highland

River House Restaurant

Inverness Central, Highland, 30-45£
21/10/2019: My husband and I visited here for dinner at the weekend - best restaurant food we've had in a long time. My sea bass was delicious, husband Fish stew looked amazing he tells me it tasted amazing too. The Oysters were fresh and delivered in such a funky way with shots. The cheeseboard was presented so well and the dessert cocktail was divine. The staff were lovely - friendly, courteous and attentive. The Chef came out to speak to everyone. The ambience was so good -small place but it's nice and lively. All in all just a wonderful experience.
18/10/2019: 我跟朋友傍晚去的,服務生人很好,跟我們說現在只有共享型的小盤餐點,但分量非常足,價格也很棒!超級推薦

Lochcarron Bistro

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, 20-30£
15/10/2019: Was on a family, mini break and finally got the chance to try the bistro. Received a lovely welcome and shown to our table. After sitting a little while I felt rather cold in the area I was in but couldn’t move as it was busy. There was a heater but not on.
10/10/2019: Certainly not bad, but neither was it a positive surprise. Perhaps a bit too pricey. Seemed over-staffed too
