The Lodge

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
10/10/2020: We had a few nights in Skye for our Scotland staycation this year and decided to treat ourselves to the tasting menu at the Edinbane Lodge. What a fabulous experience! The service, food and matched wines were impeccable. I would definitely recommend a visit here if you happen to be in Skye. (My photos won't do it justice!!)
10/10/2020: This is our honeymoon and we decided to treat ourselves to some fine dining. We weren't disappointed it was 8 courses of stunning flavours no wonder the chef has won awards. It was accompanied by excellent service very friendly and knowledgeable waiters. And to top it off because of covid everything was set up perfectly felt safe from start to finish

The Seafood Shack

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland
15/10/2020: Tried here through word of mouth and online reviews. The Shack runs like a well oiled machine. Had the wraps which took around half an hour as it was quite busy. The fish itself was delicious and fresh but I must say the batter was a little soggy and oily through to the fillet considering it was freshly cooked. It was as though the oil needed to be a bit hotter. The lemon mayo was lovely as was the salad. It was a tasty snack but I wouldn't rush back in a hurry to have it again.
14/10/2020: We were camping at Ardmair and popped into Ullapool to get food for our evening meal. Just fabulous!!! I had the fish wrap...it is a full size fish in a wrap, lovely flavours and not messy to eat. My husband had the take in cream sauce with rice and he loved it. Can't recommend this enough

River House Restaurant

Inverness Central, Highland, 30-45£
01/10/2020: Stayed at the Premier Inn so this restaurant is in easy waking distance along the R. Ness. Welcomed at the door ad covid precautions explained. A lovely atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. The staff & patron were very friendly and explained the dishes. Enjoyed a super fish dinner and vowed to return the next day for 'Buck a Shuck' oysters. This we did and enjoyed 18 oysters - not something we do ever day
29/09/2020: We visited here on our last night in Inverness and definitely saved the best till last. Greeted at the door by the owner who was very friendly and made the occasion special when we told him we were on honeymoon. We had the tapas and enjoyed every mouthful: garlic prawns, crostinis, fritto Misto, crab arancini and a lovely bowl of bread with seaweed butter. Would definitely recommend and return whenever we’re back in the area.

Ben Nevis Inn

Fort William and Ardnamurchan, Highland
21/10/2020: Popped in here for lunch and what a delight. Superb setting looking out onto the Ben. I ordered the brie and beetroot tart and my husband had the chickpea and spinach curry and our daughter had the kids pasta. The food came quickly and the portions were a good size. The tart was as you would expect very cheesy and creamy and tasted great. The curry was spicy and again tasted really good. Chips were good too. All in all great meal and good value. The only down side was not being able to have a pint with my meal due to covid restrictions. The covid rules were well managed. I would definitely go back and advise others to visit.
19/10/2020: Stopped in past today for lunch all the food came quickly and was very tasty. No complaints here would return if I was in the area.

Cheese and Tomatin

Inverness Central, Highland
18/08/2020: Amazing artisan pizzas. Freshly baked in a traditional wood fired oven. Great service, great food, great range of local beers as well as your standard Italian ‘brews’ can’t really fault it.
16/08/2020: Best pizza in Inverness. Lovely authentic stone baked napoleon style pizza. Great range of options. Sourdough pizza base. Delicious local vegan ‘left coast’ cheese available as an alternative to dairy. Also great options for meat eaters including a Stornaway black pudding topped pizza.

Mustard Seed Restaurant

Inverness Central, Highland, 30-45£
01/10/2020: We chose this restaurant on recommendation after finishing the Great Glen Walk. It could not have been a better finish. The staff were very accommodating, nothing too much trouble. Our host Andras was attentive and helpful. The food was superb (smoked sea trout, venison haunch). The wine of the month was good, and a good selection of malts for afters!I would highly recommend this restaurant.
01/10/2020: Excellent menu choices: starter main and dessert selections made it difficult to decide. Nice atmosphere. Helpful and friendly staff, especially Sophia. We had a pram and 6 month baby with us and they were very helpful and made sure we had space to put the pram. Not the first time we have been and certainly won’t be the last! Highly recommend.

Sea Breezes

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
13/10/2020: We had a lovely sea food platter for our first visit. We will definitely recommend it to other's and will go back.
12/10/2020: Return visit for dinner on 3rd Oct having had a superb meal here 6 years ago on our last trip to Skye.Read a fairly recent review on here before visiting, about someone who had the mussels and likened the sauce to dishwater. I though he was just a hard to please diner. Guess what! Had the mussels, the ‘sauce’/bouillon was like dishwater!! Thin, watery, really not at all pleasant!!This was also by some margin the most expensive of 10 or so meals we had out on our 11 day Scottish tour, the majority of which were great.Come on Sea Breezes! Cooking what must be some of the best local mussels available in the UK and serving in a delicious (or even tasty) simple liquor is not brain surgery. You need to sort this out. If you need help, just ask!My partner’s scallop risotto was fine, our waitress was great. But please .... keep the dishwater for the dishes!!

Fjara Cafe Bar

Lerwick South, Shetland Islands, <20£
22/09/2020: Lovely place serving good food. Great views over the sea. Good menu of drinks. Food was really great. Shetland Seafood and Corn Chowder with the scallops was AWESOME! Nice staff. Looking forward to the next visit!!
22/09/2020: We found this place last year and went several times. First class food and service. First place on the list for lunch this year and it did not disappoint. A bonus is that from the window you get to see terns and gannets diving for fish. No doubt others will have seen whales and Orcas but we weren’t so lucky.

The Kitchen Brasserie

Inverness Central, Highland
18/10/2020: Food was amazing and gorgeous setting overlooking the river. Service was fantastic and felt very safe in current climate with Covid. The oatcakes with the cheese were to die for - recipe please?? Would definitely return if we visit Inverness again. Keep up the great work
18/10/2020: Took my mum for lunch, her first time out since lockdown and we both felt very safe and well looked after. Connor and Evan were very professional, friendly and reassuring. All expected guidelines were followed. The lunch menu had a great choice and the food was delicious. We were even invited to take the leftovers home in a box as it was too big a portion for my mum. I had a mocktail given that we couldn’t have alcohol and it was delicious! A brilliant job for a local restaurant and we will definitely be back soon, keep up the great work.

28/09/2020: Ate here on a recent holiday to Nairn. The food was superb & the staff very friendly & welcoming. I had the haggis starter which was delicious, followed by the Thai curry which was also very tasty. Managed to squeeze in a pudding & had some fab cocktails after too. Would recommend

Portknockie Fish and Chip Shop

Keith and Cullen, Moray
18/10/2020: Best fish and chips in a long time. Excellent idea booking a time for collection during Covid restrictions.
16/10/2020: This place has to be vying for best fish n chips in Scotland this year. Absolutely spot on and that’s during restrictions. Spot on for perfect fish n chips and the service is good but also the wee shop in a wee out the way village adds to it. Great value for money and also an easy to use phone system that allows you to dial in for the treat of the week.

Station Road Restaurant

Aird and Loch Ness, Highland, 45-60£
03/10/2020: Really superb restaurant. Welcome cocktails were great. Some unique choices served by friendly and funny bar staff. Atmosphere and setting lovely and the food outstanding. All three courses were excellent and we wished we’d have booked the full tasting menu. Have eaten in lots of high end and Michelin Star places and this matched all. Will definitely be back!
02/10/2020: Coming towards the end of our Scottish staycations, my wife and I thought we would try this restaurant as a wee treat to go along with the stunning beauty that our country has to offer and boy were we not disappointed. From the minute we walked in the door the hospitality and service was exceptional. We had pre dinner drinks in one of the lounges and our host lit the real fire for us and we relaxed before eating. The bar has a great selection of drinks and local draught beer (from Spean Bridge). When our table was ready we were taken through and the Tasting Menu (7 courses) was explained to us and we started to get excited about what was to come.My goodness - the menu is a real treat in fresh, local produce and the flavour combinations and the presentation is absolutely stunning. Each course was adequately explained by the server and we savoured each and every one. The appetisers were so well prepared and the detailed presentation was great - and the taste was divine. The scallop dish was amazing and the grouse main was unbelievable. Finishing with 3 varying desserts just topped off an experience we will not forget and ended our break on a real high. The restaurant was busy and although they are running with a reduced staff - the team on hand were working their socks off to deliver such a high standard of dining and are a true credit to the hospitality sector during these times. Thank you all at The Lovat and a place I will be recommending to friends without a doubt.

Uig Sands Restaurant

Sgir'Uige agus Ceann a Tuath nan Loch, Eilean Siar
08/10/2020: Our second time at the Uig Sands, having eaten there last summer. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the menu and specials on offer were great, really showcasing the best local produce and presenting them in the best possible way. The langoustine from the specials board were delicious and the light dressing on the accompanying salad was perfect. The local lamb was perfectly cooked and well presented, and my wife enjoyed the halibut immensely. This Little gem of a restaurant deserves all the praise I can give it. We will be back next time we are on Lewis for sure.
07/10/2020: What a dinning experience !! Stunning views over Uig bay, friendly excellent service and food to die for. Three course meal with specials of langoustines and scallops. Excellent. Highly recommend
