Chez Roux

Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, Stirling
17/12/2018: We come here every year at about this time. The front of house staff are really friendly and efficient. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, so everything is visible as it is being prepared.
16/12/2018: Enjoyed a couple of cocktails in the bar before dinner. Dinner was good. Nice to be able to see chefs cooking in the open kitchen. Nice touch of a Happy Anniversary message on our petit fours written in chocolate.

Lion & Unicorn

Trossachs and Teith, Stirling
13/12/2018: Nice village location, this old hotel restaurant is a popular place to eat. The menu covers all the main needs, and the food is quite good, although when it is busy, there is a bit of a wait.
20/11/2018: We are Australian and were after a traditional Scottish pub dinner. We did not book and the place was very full, however the staff found a way to seat our party of 6. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was exactly what I had imagined. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Wee Blether Tea Room

Forth and Endrick, Stirling
13/12/2018: Signs outside day open 8 days a week! It is shut. Should at least change the signs.Appreciate things are quiet, could be on holiday, whatever! Change the signs, gives a better message to someone visiting.
23/11/2018: One of my friends had raved about this lovely tucked away tea room in Kinlochard and my friend and I were not disappointed. A great find on a damp, drizzly day after a 5 mile walk around a nearby forestry walk. Our welcome from the 2 staff could not have been warmer and we were soon settled with drinks, and cake - lovely frothy coffee and the cake was apparently divine!! Definitely a return visit will be required, hopefully before winter closure but now that I know where it is, I am sure that I will become a regular. Loved the chunky wooden furniture, beautiful views on the loch even on a misty day and the possibility of sitting out on the decking in better weather. Staff were just wonderful - warm and welcoming, enticing with the choices available and lovely to chat to. Thank you so much :-)

Maharaja

Castle, Stirling, <20£
16/12/2018: Been multiple times for the lunch menu; food is delicious and the staff are really friendly. When they say something’s spicy they absolutely mean it - wouldn’t go anywhere else in Stirling for lunch as you can’t beat the value for money.
16/12/2018: Had their two course lunch. The restaurant came highly recommended but I was a bit disappointed. The chili chicken should come with a fire extinguisher (or at least a warning on the menu). It was so hot, the flavours were lost. I don't mind some chili heat in a dish but only when you can still get the flavours of any herbs or other spices. The main course was a paneer dish but, ironically, it seemed a bit bland. Maybe the starter had temporarirly numbed my taste buds. To be fair when I spoke to the waiter he was very receptive and said he would make sure the main wasn't too hot.. But the starter really spoiled the meal. The restaurant was very busy so it's obviously popular. So maybe I was unlucky. Dessert was an uninspired vanilla ice cream.

The Gallery Restaurant

Castle, Stirling, <20£
07/12/2018: Before I complain this is an excellent place with really good food and served by pleasant young staff. My recent issue is that 4 of us visited for a Christmas dinner. Starters were good, the goats cheese was brilliant. The turkey main course was indifferent, too much brown meat, and a little fatty, stuffing was not good but where it was a let down was lack of veg. Three very small roasties, a slice of carrot and two sprouts are a bit on the stingy side. Having said that we will continue to support this enterprise.
19/11/2018: After many unsuccessful attempts we finally managed to book a table (restaurant is getting rave reviews deservedly). Can't add anymore to previous reviews thoroughly enjoyable and a huge credit to everyone involved. Highly recommended

The Pier Cafe

Trossachs and Teith, Stirling
09/12/2018: Had a late lunch at the Pier Cafe today. The weather was stunning so the cafe was full of cyclists, walkers and Sunday day trippers. Although they were busy, Brian and Ciaran took time to have a chat and remembered my intolerances from a visit months ago!
13/11/2018: We were staying nearby and the cafe is a lovely surprise. Breathtaking views, friendly staff, very good food and drinks, dog friendly, reasonably priced. I could go on.

The Clachan Inn

Forth and Endrick, Stirling
12/12/2018: Walking up the street towards the inn it looked welcoming. Upon entry it turned out to be so. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good selection of gins and whisky's to tempt us. All four had different dishes, the steak was very tender with a great taste, fish salad delicious. Staff were constantly ready to help/serve without being overbearing. A nice meal out.
26/11/2018: The pizza is authentic, I worked in some of the best Italian establishments in Glasgow over many years I know a thing or two about pizza making, if you like and know what an Italian pizza should look and taste like then come here . The staff were excellent very professional and friendly .

Callander Meadows

Trossachs and Teith, Stirling

Brea

Castle, Stirling, 30-45£
18/12/2018: We were directed to Brea by another restaurant in the area that only serves on the weekends. Needless to say, we are grateful for the recommendation. It was a relatively quiet weekday night and even though there was only one server on duty we never felt neglected or that service was delayed. We were nearing the end of our trip in Scotland and wanted to eat Scottish fare - we were not disappointed! As is common in the UK at this time of year, the restaurant had a standing menu and a Festive Menu for the holiday season. On the Festive Menu was a cocktail they called the Christmas Pudding made with dark rum and cinnamon - it was delicious (I had two!)!
13/12/2018: Cibo molto buono e abbiamo bevuto una birra fantastica su suggerimento del cameriere. Personale gentile e simpatico.

Hermann's

Castle, Stirling
07/12/2018: Visited Herrman's on the 1st Dec 2018 with family to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. There were eight of us, 2 children and 6 adults, so I was a tiny bit anxious that everyone would enjoy their meal. I did not have to worry. The table was perfectly placed for us and the staff were attentive without being overly so. As for the meal, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choice. Five had fillet steaks and every steak was cooked to perfection, including hubbys, who is extremely fussy! Other dishes chosen were equally delicious. Starters and dessert dishes were also to everyones tastes. We chose the house red and white wines, once again, perfect!
04/12/2018: I have wanted to visit Hermann's for ages but have never got around to it. It was certainly worth the wait. It has a lovely location at the top of the town in an old town house. It has a warm atmosphere. The staff are very attentive without being overbearing - they know exactly when to approach you. There is a good mixture of Austrian and Scottish items on the menu. Portion sizes are good and you do not feel if you have overeaten. The meals were well presented. There is an a la carte menu and a set menu for two or three courses. The latter is exceptional value for a city centre restaurant. Would recommend to anyone in Stirling
