Annaya's Grillhouse

Helensburgh Central, Argyll & Bute
03/11/2018: Took 2 hours to arrive and when we called up to ask for the order the man on the phone was extremely rude and telling us that me along with my pals were lying and saying that we were wrong and wasn't ready to admit the fact that they were in the wrong worst experience I've ever had with a restaurant, ignoring the fact that we were paying about £50 for a take out no not recommend extremely unexpected and unexceptable
15/10/2018: I first came across Annaya’s when friends took us for dinner there in 2017. In turn we took other friends there as we were so impressed by the food and the staff. Thus on our return to Scotland this year it was at the top of my list for a revisit and within a week my wife and I had been there twice for dinner. The food is very authentic and oh so tasty. There is a blackboard with specials, which I think changes on a weekly, or so basis. The delight of the evening is to ask Rocky, one of the Managers, to describe what is on the dish. Now when I say that Rocky waxes lyrical describing the dishes I am in no way exaggerating. He verbally ‘cooks’ the dish at your table with his description of every spice, vegetable and protein that goes into the dish. How it is all bought together and cooked for hours on end to get the depth of flavor, which is fabulous. I had the Rajasthani Lamb which was to die for although I think that I would prefer it off of the bone. My wife had the ‘Trucker’s boti, which was an awesome lentil based dish with a rich, thick tomatoey gravy and boneless lamb. It was called the Trucker’s boti because it was a dish that Rocky came across at a trucker’s stop somewhere in Pakistan. Having enjoyed it so much he persuaded the chef to give him a copy of the recipe. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed a ‘Railway, boti with chicken. According to Rocky this is the dish that is served in first class on Indian railways.

Kingarroch Inn

Cupar, Fife, 20-30£
16/12/2018: A truly wonderful experience from a quick call to book a table to the moment we left the building. Four weather beaten walkers and a couple of damp doggies were warmly welcomed for a late lunch. Great 3 course menu with ample choice to suit all. Our lunch was completely faultless with special mention going to the chicken liver parfait and the fish chowder. And the desserts of which we tried three....just do it. The garden looked like it would be lovely in the summer. Our next visit will be soon, very soon.
10/11/2018: We went along tonight after a recommendation from a friend and reading the reviews on TA. Once we managed to negotiate the website and waited a few days on confirmation of our table (just a little irritating) we weren’t disappointed. Excellent food, relaxed atomosphere, reasonably priced. We will definitely visit again.

Oban Seafood Hut

Oban South and the Isles, Argyll & Bute
14/11/2018: What a great wee place. Nothing fancy to look at but the seafood is fresh every day and the choice is amazing. You can watch as they cook your order. Great buzz about the place.
07/11/2018: Klasse direkt am Haafen gelegen. Sehr nette Bedienung und tolles Esssen. Große Auswahl und Seefood..

Arbroath East and Lunan, Angus
14/12/2018: Amazing place near to the nice beach walks down by the cliffs. On a clear day you can see right out over the sea.

The Cotton House

Denny and Banknock, Falkirk, >100£
13/12/2018: Normally indifferent about prawn crackers, but the ones here are a cut above (and complimentary). Would especially recommend the Malaysian Curry Mussels starter.
24/11/2018: Been going to Cotton House for 16 years now and this is the first time I’ve left a review.I just take it for granted when we go that the staff will be nothing but pleasant and the food is great but it’s time to say to something is place could not look after you any better all the staff and every manager or male or female have done everything in there power to help, the staff don’t have all been great past and present.we have taken many people and advised many to go and never got a bad reaction my son loves it that much We went from Glasgow to the Cotton House for his wedding dinner then back to Glasgow.Christmas Dinner there is first class and my son comes from Glasgow for a carry out and back and it’s brill some hope a can still go for the next 16 years so to Kathine and her staff thanks p.s my granddaughter won’t go anywhere else

Oban Chocolate Company

Oban North and Lorn, Argyll & Bute
03/12/2018: Okay, so based on the food, it was absolutely a 5 star! It was delicious! We all enjoyed it, especially the children. However, the service was pretty poor, all young girls on who looked like they’d rather be anywhere but there. No welcome no nothing. When ordering I walked up to the till and the young lady looked at me as if I had horns coming from my head when I expected more of “hello, what can I get you?” You’ve got the chocolate to a fine art, now it would be nice if customer service was them same :).
02/12/2018: It was one of those cold, wind lashed November days, nearly dark and when I turned onto the Esplanade this place was like a haven. It was full of families and others, with bright decorations and a huge range of hand made chocolates. The coffee bar is excellent and served really good coffee, as well as a few ‘signature’ hot chocolates and cakes. Oban has constantly surprised me during this visit as there so many places that have strived to be above the norm and succeeded.

The Tay

Highland, Perth & Kinross
17/12/2018: On holiday in the area and dropped in for a bite of lunch. Food tasted great, portions were very generous and the staff were very attentive and friendly. It was so good we went back the next day for the breakfast, which was even better. Thoroughly recommend The Tay for a bite to eat in Aberfeldy. Also allows you to take in your dogs and they even bring them a bowl of water.
15/12/2018: we were slightly dubious about the 5 star rating before we went here but it really was very, very good indeed. delightful wait staff and fab food with generous portions too. we'll definitely return.

Peat Inn

East Neuk and Land Ward, Fife, 60-100£
03/12/2018: Second visit to the Peat Inn for dinner was just as fantastic as the first. We went a la carte, with partner having starter, both having mains, sharing an incredible cheese board (choosing from the cheese trolley is an experience in itself!) and both having dessert. Every course was wonderful and expertly prepared. Added touches of canapes, amuse bouche and petite fours, all of which were delicious. Service is attentive and the gentleman who seated us,got us drinks and took our food order gave some terrific recommendations on both food and drink. A wonderful experience in a gorgeous restaurant; can't wait for our next excuse to return.
02/12/2018: Exquisite lunch at The Peat Inn. Beautiful relaxing ambience, very Christmassy with their tree and festive decorations.

Crail Fish Bar & Cafe

East Neuk and Land Ward, Fife
18/10/2018: Consistantly Excellent, best in Scotland. I can't recommend this highly enough you must try it next time you're in fife.
04/10/2018: Lived up to our expectations 100%. Beautiful haddock and chips, and battered king prawns, along with delicious home made tartar sauce. The service was first class. Plenty of alternative menu choices made it difficult to choose. Highly recommend.

Chatni Fine Indian Dining

Almond and Earn, Perth & Kinross
15/12/2018: I use chatni every 2nd week almost. great tasting currys. best in the area by a long way. if you like your currys then this is place to go. p.mcguire.
26/11/2018: Baca boss and the team. We cannot fault the food or the service. Best quality ingredients. Just ashame its not slightly closer by as someone has to stay sober and not stay away from the zinfandel'i'

East Pier

East Neuk and Land Ward, Fife, <20£
28/10/2018: Cullen skink wonderful as was fish curry and the crab cakes. Not only brilliant food but real ale as well. I can thoroughly recommend this place - unfortunately now closed until Easter.
25/10/2018: After a lovely blustery walk. Popped in to get chips.... the menu for a meal was incredible and we wished we had done this as the food brought out to other customers looked amazing. Daughter had Cullen skink- best ever was her description and she is a bit of an expert!

Castle, Stirling
18/12/2018: went here with a group of 16, all work colleagues enjoyed there meal, we were served efficiently in an already busy restaurant. Definitely the best curry house by far. Fantastic all round

Wee Blether Tea Room

Forth and Endrick, Stirling
13/12/2018: Signs outside day open 8 days a week! It is shut. Should at least change the signs.Appreciate things are quiet, could be on holiday, whatever! Change the signs, gives a better message to someone visiting.
23/11/2018: One of my friends had raved about this lovely tucked away tea room in Kinlochard and my friend and I were not disappointed. A great find on a damp, drizzly day after a 5 mile walk around a nearby forestry walk. Our welcome from the 2 staff could not have been warmer and we were soon settled with drinks, and cake - lovely frothy coffee and the cake was apparently divine!! Definitely a return visit will be required, hopefully before winter closure but now that I know where it is, I am sure that I will become a regular. Loved the chunky wooden furniture, beautiful views on the loch even on a misty day and the possibility of sitting out on the decking in better weather. Staff were just wonderful - warm and welcoming, enticing with the choices available and lovely to chat to. Thank you so much :-)

The Cruin restaurant loch lomond

Helensburgh and Lomond South, Argyll & Bute, 20-30£
10/11/2018: Got married at the cruin on Thursday and couldn’t be happier with the service and venue! All the staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us! The day went so smoothly and was completely what we wanted. Would highly recommend for a wedding venue, also the meal and buffet where also amazing!! Fantastic place!
07/11/2018: Everything was amazing and they could not do enough. The whole family had an amazing time. Beautiful views and we have brilliant weather.

South Kintyre, Argyll & Bute, <20£
10/10/2018: This is a tearoom of absolute excellence. Home from home, traditional and sweets and cakes to die for. The various flavour meringues are a sight and taste to behold. The experience is enhanced by the wonderfully friendly and attentive staff. This is a must to make a special journey to enjoy this special experience. The meals are also exceptional.
26/09/2018: Nearly drove past as its the shop too, but we had lunch were stuffed but eyed up the cakes, meringues. We took the second beach for dog walk returned about hour later for cake. We were not disappointed this is a lovely local family run old fashioned business the type so hard to find. I had also found it hard to find Scottish gifts and fortunately a small amount if genuine Scottish made gifts were on sale. It was well worth the drive we also saw seals. Thank you this made our day.
