Blue Strawberry Bistrot

Hatfield Peverel, Braintree
05/05/2019: Despite the impressive limoncello cocktail (limoncello, lemonade and prosecco served in a balloon glass with ice and a slice, should you fancy one!) I was left completely underwhelmed by my recent visit to the aptly named 'Blue Strawberry'.
02/05/2019: The Restaurant is Tudor with lots of character and style.

Pasta Pia

Chalkwell, Southend-on-Sea
01/05/2019: By far one if not the best Italian locally, homely feel with a simple menu yet excellent food. The staff and owners are wonderful, pasta and desserts are divine! More of quick eat but lovely for a date or with friends too! Bravo!
Complimenti!

The Waterfront

Alexandra, Ipswich
05/05/2019: A sadly disappointing experience. My 3rd visit and it will be my last. Not enough staff so service very poor, sold out of two main course choices (there are just 8), sold out of triple cooked chips (how on earth?, just peel some more potatoes and cook them!) & when we asked for butter to go with a bread starter that was served with a dessert spoonful of oil & no balsamic vinegar, we were told there was no butter left (wtf! Send someone to the nearby food shop then or borrow from one of the many other outlets within 10 yards!) At 7pm on a Bank Holiday Sunday we expected much better. When our food did come the portions were tiny for such high prices, even for a supposedly high end Bistro. The whole evening was marred by the unbearable noise from the crowd of drunk people in the bar downstairs (who had clearly been on lash all afternoon) no one wants to hear this when you are paying between £15 & £30 for a main course in the restaurant upstairs. Decide whether you want to be a busy drinker's bar or a high quality Bistro and focus on that because at present you are failing at both.
23/04/2019: We had a team lunch down at the Waterfront and were lucky enough to make it on an extremely warm day. We got the table on the quay side and it was wonderful! The food was really good also but I must say the experience of dining on the quay's edge in this way on this particularly warm day was a real delight! A great use of the space. The whole team loved their choices and a great lunch was had.

Les Amandines Vegetarian Restaurants

Diss, South Norfolk
08/04/2019: My friend and I like to meet here at least once a month... and it never disappoints.. The food is amazing. Beautifully presented and so tasty. Lovely friendly staff and lovely decor. There is no where else like it....highly recommended
24/03/2019: I’ve visited this fabulous cafe many times over the years and it never disappoints! An ever-changing and creative menu, all served with their brilliant signature salads. A true marvel! Special mention for their lovely home made ice creams - it’s rare to find flavours that taste exactly as they should. The coconut and pistachio are particularly scrumptious! As always, we’ll be back!

The Red Dog Cafe

Birch and Winstree, Colchester
28/04/2019: Been here a couple of times before and not been disappointed. The choice of burgers with interesting ingredients is different and they are always tasty as are the sides.
21/04/2019: Stopped at the Red Dig for a quick unplanned lunch; first time. Great service, good hot dogs and perfect chicken pop corn. Will go back.

Wild Thyme

Mancroft, Norwich
20/04/2019: I have recently had lunch at Wild Thyme with a friend. The food was so good I returned later in the week with my cousin. The restaurant is not easy to find but well worth it. Nice, arty setting, good service and first class vegetarian food. One of my favourite places in Norwich

Rios Brazil Churrascaria

Alexandra, Ipswich
28/04/2019: I booked this venue as we had been before and it was one of my partners favourites.
20/04/2019: Visited 13.30 today (Saturday afternoon). We were advised to allow 2 hours, and I can now see why - help yourself to salad then they keep serving meat at your table until you change the “sign” to red (need a breather). When you change it back to green they bring more until you give in and roll out of the restaurant, completely full!

Olivier's Restaurant

Aspley and Woburn, Central Bedfordshire, >100£
18/04/2019: We visited here one Friday for afternoon tea and left satisfied. There’s plenty of parking around the rear of the hotel as well as being within easy walking distance of the main public carpark on Park Street. As soon as we entered the staff behind the reception desk showed us to the reserved table in a lounge area off the main dining room. This was nice and was a good mix between being traditional and modern, with the other groups of people providing a nice relaxing atmosphere. Once all the drinks and plates had been served the table felt a little small but at least everything was clean.
17/04/2019: we had breakfast, lunch and dinner at this restaurant attached to the hotel. The food was well presented and prepared. The service was excellent and all meals were to a high standard.

The Bell in Benington

Walkern, East Hertfordshire
29/04/2019: Our 3rd time there. Fanatastic food - really excellent Trinidadian food cooked by the Ladylady, Both the landlord and landlady are super, warm helpful. GO THERE. Excellent food. Not expensive. proper pub. Good ale. Soem of my party of 12 had the Calypso roast dinner. I tasted a bit and it was wonderful. Dint know you could do a roast like that!
31/03/2019: went with friends for dinner on a sat night. For someone of Jamcian heritage I was a little unsure of what to expect from a pub offering Caribbean food in Stevenage. 1st impressions were great, we were greeted by the owner and given a warm welcome. He’s knowledge of the menu and different dishes was great making sure we ordered enough, but not too much. Starters of bbq wings, salt fish and tomatoes and aloo pie were all amazing and left us eager for our main, which were all amazing and authentic. Goat and lamb curry’s fab, creole daughter cleaned her plate, sums up the evening. Desserts left us very happy. Thank you so much for a lovely evening. I will be back with the extended family.

The Green Kitchen

Ashley, St Albans
06/02/2019: Plenty of choice, 100% vegan, delicious, relaxed and friendly! We loved this chilled out place, met up with old friends for several hours of cuppas, lovely lunch and chatting..
04/02/2019: I really loved the relaxed, informal atmosphere at The Green Kitchen. It was very much like visiting a friend for lunch as you can see exactly where the food is made - nothing is hidden from view.

Avenue Bistro

Frinton, Tendring
04/05/2019: I went to Frinton for a long bank holiday weekend and for my birthday. After checking out all the restaurants before I went, I settled on Avenue Bistro and booked a table for myself and my family. You do need to book as the restaurant is extremely popular and the reason for this is simple. It is the best in town ! Firstly it is spotlessly clean and immaculately presented. Secondly the service and attention to detail is first rate. Efficient and simple without being overbearing as some venues can be. Thirdly and most importantly the food is amazing. A great choice of Mediterranean cuisine coupled with a fine selection of accompaniments without the dishes being overly confused. We had a varied selection ranging from a Rack of Lamb ( for me ) to Prawn Linguine ( for my better half). My daughters were also suitably impressed with my eldest ( who had liver and bacon) stating it was the best meal she had in years ! So much for family cooking then !!
29/04/2019: The service we had was excellent with our waitress being very friendly, helpful and attentive. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food .It is a little bit expensive .The parking is very awkward though as we went round the back thinking we could park there but had to move down the road which was not ideal as we were with my 89 years old mother .

Las Iguanas - Norwich

Thorpe Hamlet, Norwich
05/05/2019: There was a party of 7 of us for dinner last night. We had great service from all, amazing cocktails and food. Would highly recommend Las Iguanas, special mention for Jake and his exceptional customer service. P.s thanks for the jumper 😅
04/05/2019: Being from California my wife and I had a craving for authentic Mexican food as we generally have it 3-4 times a week at home. This restaurant identifies as a Latin American restaurant that has various menu items from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Peru. We started off with a 2 for 1 drink offer of one of their signature specialty drinks. As a starter, we ordered the Peruvian Fondue with potatoes which was delicious. My wife ordered the Chicken Fajitas and I had the beef burrito bowl. Both meals were spicy, flavorful and filling. The service was very friendly and attentive. Alcoholic drinks were a little pricy but the food prices seemed reasonable. Free WiFi.

River Green Cafe

Stoke Holy Cross, South Norfolk
28/04/2019: Excellent choice of starters, lighter options and main courses. Fresh, tasty and colourful. Comfortable seating. Clean toilets. Friendly staff and good service.
20/04/2019: First of all, let me say, I am not a vegetarian. Having said that, I really enjoyed the food in this restaurant, I cannot recommend it highly enough. My wife and I went for Easter Saturday lunch, the second time that we have been there, and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, flavours to die for, and a lovely choice. The food was wonderfully cooked and very nicely presented. The staff are very friendly and polite. The ambience and decor are very comfortable. Cleanliness is spot on. Good choice of beers and wines. We will definitely be back

Queens head

Sawbridgeworth, East Hertfordshire
24/01/2019: Cosy pub in Sawbridgeworth village which me and 4 friends visited for lunch. The food, we all thought, was outstanding - I can’t wait to return and starting making my way through the menu!! Warning: portions are generous, go when v hungry!!
03/01/2019: A disappointing visit to this pub after popping in whilst visiting friends in the area. It's quite a clique-y local pub vibe, stared at by locals when you walk in etc. Meal was alright, nothing special. The thing that really ruined the visit for us though was the mob like reaction from the locals when a mother with a young child (2ish) freaked out when our dog barked at her child who ran past for about the third time. After a bad experience with children as a puppy, our small dog is very scared of kids and will bark when approached by them. It's worth noting he was on a lead at all times, I held him whenever he barked and we were seated near no children, with only another table of adults nearby. There isn't much I can do to control someone else's child pottering round a pubt and coming near my dog, that should be the mother's responsibility. After apologising for him barking (although the child was unphased, as it was the previous two times) the "mother" let out a mouthful of abuse, before the drunk old men at the bar in the early afternoon gave their two pence too. It was quite intimidating for a group of people, including comments from the previously friendly waitress, to suddenly be shouting things over to our table. We asked for the bill and left shortly after feeling a bit shook up tbh. Wouldn't be visiting again anyway but wouldn't recommend to anyone who has a dog that may bark as you will be mobbed by locals.

The King's Arms

Waterside, North Norfolk
01/01/2019: The food absolutely stunning - every single course was filled with amazing flavours which tantalised all our tastebuds - flight of wines had been expertly picked to accentuate all the different courses from the lobster to the 36 day aged beef
17/11/2018: Always plenty of choice. You name a veg and its available. Choice if several meats too. Nice restaurant and there is a childrens playground outside and a heated outside area for those that need a cIgarette. The pub is good too and they have regular music nights
