Square bistro

Hilden, Lisburn
10/08/2018: I have been coming to the restaurant for a few years now, however I am only getting round to writing a review now. The square is my favourite restaurant and no matter what meal I decide to order it always tastes amazing. However the steak pitta bread has to be my favourite. The staff are extremely helpful especially Leah, she always manages to find a space for us to sit in the restaurant if we have not booked a table. She is so friendly and just a lovely member of staff.
09/08/2018: Went here with friends. Excellent range, really nice quality food for the same price of an average meal elsewhere.

Villa Vinci

Shimna, Down
28/08/2018: This place is great. I visited in 2017 w wife and just recently took 8 guys on a golf trip there for dinner. Villa Vinci is not only the best restaurant we visited in NIRL, but one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to and moderately priced! Be sure to call days ahead for a reservation, as it fills up fast! This was the highliht of eating out for 8 days in Scoltand & N Ireland. Don't miss
27/08/2018: Lovely tasty food and friendly staff. Book ahead if you want a table. They have a kids menu with colouring in sheet which is great but we didn’t have to wait long for the food anyway which was appreciated on our behalf!

Blue Bay Cafe

Dundrum, Down, <20£
16/08/2018: Visited here after a brill day a mount panther. Wow the food is delicious!! I ordered my 1 year old a ham and cheese sandwich - the ingredients are first class! No wafer thin ham here proper thick cut “boiling ham” the ham you would get with your Sunday dinner!! I had a chicken bacon Brie and cranberry toastie and a few other had the specials on for the day and all raved about it! They also have delicious cakes and Home made scones and the staff are so friendly can not recommend highly enough and will definitely be back when in the area! FIRST CLASS
12/07/2018: Friendly welcome. Freshest sandwiches. Scrumptious cakes and scones. And the best chocolate milkshakes ever....according to our boys.

The Boathouse Restaurant

Harbour, North Down
21/07/2018: Booked the Boat House for some friends of mine and they were utterly amazing! They couldn’t have done enough for me or my friends and made the whole experience so special. Spectacular value for money when you compare that level of service with what you get elsewhere. The menu was amazing - and they were so accommodating with special / dietary requests! I couldn’t recommend more highly!
10/07/2018: We spotted this place whilst strolling by, & so glad that we stopped to check out the menu & then book ourselves in for the evening dinner.

Robert Stewarts

Drumbo, Lisburn, 20-30£
21/08/2018: went last night on recommendation of a friend. Very busy and nice atmosphere when we arrived so went to bar to have a drink whilst we waited for 4th person to join us. There is a lovely buzz about this characterful Inn. We were shown to our table in a room nextto the bar, quieter and brighter. Staff very friendly. Between us we had 1 steak, 1 chicken fahitas, 1 chicken burger and 1 special, cod and baby boiled spuds. All delicious. clean plates all round. 2 raspberry ruffle cheesecakes and 1 lemon meringue, again all scoffed and general conclusion was great grub. The (I think owner) appeared at our table several times to discharge a few wee jokes in our direction.
05/08/2018: I was here last Friday with my partner as a last minute date night. We only found this place on trip-advisor and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I found this place!! Was that good I returned the next night with my mother. With my partner being vegetarian the options he had were better than most places. He gave the veggie fajitas a try and I don’t think there was anything left on his plate. The first night I got the wings for start and the sirloin for main and it was perfect. Second night I ordered fish and chips. The fish was so big I thought free willy was on my plate, but it didn’t stop me scoffing the lot! The owner or head of house is hilarious, he gave us full attention on both nights never having an empty drink in front of me with a side of humour. He is amazing at his job and I can see why this place is doing so well. Can’t wait for the next date night so I can come back.

26/06/2018: I tried this restaurant for the first time on Saturday and was so pleasantly surprised. Honestly I had put off trying this place for the longest time because I hadn't really heard much mentioned about it and now I can't wait to bring my husband.

Turnip House

Ballyward, Banbridge, >100£
16/08/2018: This quirky coffee shop and craft centre is really welcoming, the food is all homemade and you can even see the bread being made if you are there at the right time. The soups are lovely and varied on each visit. Great coffee too. Lovely setting in a beautiful landscape but fairly difficult to find if you don't know it is there.
03/07/2018: Friendly, homely, excellent food and beverages. Back to nature. Organic. Local crafts on sale. Friendly owners and dog.

Tandoori Night

Tonagh, Lisburn
26/06/2018: Getting take always from here for years -always good. Love the smokey flavour of the tikka & chicken done in tandoori oven
18/06/2018: We found this little gem about 10 years ago by chance. Wouldn't get a takeaway indian meal from anywhere else now. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. The delivery is normally within 30 - 45 minutes but staff advise you if there will be a delay. I order the chicken tikka usually and it is amazing!

Katch 27

Kircubbin, Ards
07/08/2018: Always Great Food Great welcoming and friendly staff Amazing Sea food choices always my favourites Will definitely be returning again
04/08/2018: It’s so tough when you have to make a choice from a menu that has loads of things that you want to try. This place deserves all the fab reviews it gets, the food is soooo good. The service is friendly but a little rushed, it was really busy but you didn’t wait long. That said everything was delightful to look at as well as to eat, just look at my photos, it really did look that beautiful. My standout dish was the cod with chive butter sauce and hens egg, it was so fresh and flavourful. I’m defo coming back!

Olive Bizarre

Donard, Down
27/08/2018: Situated right near the picturesque harbour in Newcastle, Olive bizarre is a fantastic café which offers a selection of daily specials, along with good quality coffee and snacks.
20/08/2018: Possibly the only vegetarian place in Newcastle. It's a bit of a walk from the town but worth it. Good choice of food includes gorgeous tarts, pudding and cake.

Great jones Craft & Kitchen

Shimna, Down
30/08/2018: Great bistro in the centre of Newcastle. They easily accommodated our party of nine, we waited an hour for a table but they were very clear it was no bother. Unlike in some busy places that want an advanced booking for a party bigger than six! The menu has many seafood options, the burgers were fab and the seafood linguine delicious. It is a little pretentious, but only slightly, for example one of the options was monkfish curry. I am sure it was very good but seemed a strange choice for such an expensive fish, with a delicate flavour. But a very good meal regardless.
24/08/2018: Buona varietà di cibo. Il sapore buono. Troppo chiasso ma non é colpa loro. Uno dei migliori di questo tour dell'ulster

The Head o The Road

Saintfield, Down, <20£
14/08/2018: Out and about today with my better half who suggested trying The Head o' The Road-recommended by several friends. Knew it was in the townland of Tartaraghan, Portadown. Let down by Satellite Sally! Eventually found the place. Now for the good stuff. It is a typical country pub from the outside, good character and well maintained. First impressions excellent. Inside, cosy bar to the right and the main dining area to the left. Led in by John who we later found out was the owner. He gave us the menus and took drink orders without undue hesitation. When waiting, we took the opportunity to meander around the establishment - urged on by John. More dining areas downstairs and upstairs all decorated to the highest degree in a modern and tasteful manner. NOW - the food. My wife ordered cod goujons and I ordered a chicken dish. Both came out like a work of art. Both cooked and presented to perfection. Still found room, just about, for desserts. Lemon Meringue and Apple Crumble with custard. Unbelievable! We had chosen off the £14 two course menu and with drinks, our bill came to around £32- excellent value for exceptional food. As a bonus, we enjoyed our conversation with John who took great pride in relating the story of the business which had been in his family since the 30's. An excellent choice for us and as described in the title - Serendipity!
12/08/2018: Went for a meal on Saturday night. Place was quite busy but plenty of staff working. Good menu choices to suit all tastes one starter off brie and we both had the chicken stack with champ and lattice fries. Both had desserts, the salted caramel roullade and apple crumble. All food was very tasty and well presented. Staff were very friendly our only complaint would be that it was all too fast. We were in and out in an hour, one dish was no sooner removed before the next was in front of us. We would have relaxed and enjoyed it better if there had been a little more time between courses. Not a major complaint and we will be back again
