Square bistro

Hilden, Lisburn
16/08/2017: Nothing to fault with this restaurant. Food is delicious, reasonably priced, service friendly and efficient, and a great atmosphere. We've been several times and have always had a great meal.
14/08/2017: This was our third visit to the Square and still we are impressed! The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and accommodating even when the restaurant is busy, and the restaurant itself is clean and tidy- albeit a bit small, although this makes the atmosphere even better. I would personally recommend the Tempura Chicken and Noodles or the Seafood Pasta, although others at my table got the steak special that was on that day, which was, in their words, like nothing else on the planet! Additionally, this restaurant is very close to Lisburn town centre and one of the main car parks in Lisburn, so offers easy access for shoppers!Congrats on such a wonderful restaurant, will be back personally and will recommend this place to people in the future!

Blue Bay Cafe

Dundrum, Down, <20£
12/08/2017: Went into the cafe only to find it busy. That's fine. The waitress looked at me like I was dirt. I did not appreciate it so left.
12/08/2017: The warmest welcome you could ever expect. Breakfast today was top notch. Homemade soup earlier in the week was very tasty (we tried both tomato and basil and Leek and potato). Such a variety of home baked cakes and scones ......difficult to choose! Attentive and friendly service. We love it. No wonder it's award winning!

Vanilla Restaurant

Shimna, Down
20/08/2017: We booked the early bird menu. Unfortunately we got stuck in traffic and phoned the restaurant to tell them we would be late. The manager very kindly held our table. The starters were varied and excellent. The main course offered a catch of the day which was cod. Very good friendly service. I highly recommend this restaurant. The 2 dish early bird menu costs about 23€.
20/08/2017: We booked the early bird menu about 2 weeks ago. This was our 4/5 visit and like the previous times we had a lovely evening. Food is very well presented and has taste. The service was excellent from all the staff. Will be back.

The Guillemot

Harbour, North Down, <20£
18/08/2017: I've only ever been in for breakfast and coffee, but its a cracking place and the Captain Ahab fry is definitely the best in the area.
17/08/2017: This is a popular coffee shop with a decent selection of accompanying cakes and baked goods. The service is pleasant and the atmosphere is welcoming. They do a good breakfast too so, while the prices are slightly high, a visit here is always worthwhile.

Villa Vinci

Shimna, Down
21/08/2017: Sunday afternoon had and early tea place was busy so we thought it looked promising .Friends ordered pasta dishes as did my wife and i. Looked good when it arrived but on inspection it didn't look freshly made , this was confirmed after tasting it there was no taste ! not from the ravioli or the tomato sauce, very disappointing, service was good though, would i go back? I don't think we will.
20/08/2017: We had dinner at Villa Vinci last Sunday evening and it was fantastic. The service was superb, the meals were served fairly quickly and all 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed the food. We have been before a number of times and will definitely be back!

Niki's Kitchen Cafe

Donard, Down
20/08/2017: First time in Nikki's cafe and definitely not the last. Had lunch with a friend and we both had the wraps, her the goat's cheese one and me the steak. We did a swap and had half each and they were both delicious. We shared a portion of the garlic and parmesan fries which weren't really necessary as there was plenty on the plate already with a handful of chips and a side salad. We had coffee and a tray bake to follow and it came to £22 for both of us...a bargain! By the way service was excellent also.
04/08/2017: Back again in Newcastle this time for festival of flight. Lovely breakfast, non greasy and very very filling. Reasonably priced. Served by a young girl with blonde hair, beautiful young girl, fabulous personality and such a great wee girl to have behind any counter. Keep this up guys, food and service fantastic.

Coast

Holywood Priory, North Down, 30-45£
13/08/2017: I went to this place with a group of work colleagues and was extremely disappointed with everything. The food was second grade and actually upset my stomach, as it did to one of my chums. The doors throughout struck me as in need of a good wipe down and possibly would have been grateful to have been treated to a new coat of paint. The staff were, to be fair, very pleasant. Next day all of my work colleagues agreed that we will not return. It was not enjoyable.
09/08/2017: I have now dined here twice. Both times the quality of the food has been fantastic. The waiting staff have been friendly and helpful.I would definitely recommend.

Harbour and Company

Donaghadee North, Ards
17/08/2017: Right on the harbour front: make sure you go upstairs for the view. Food very good indeed, great people.
16/08/2017: My wife, son and I had heard about Harbour & Co from friends who had eaten there previously, so we decided to take a run out to try it. I'm delighted we did!  We had a truly wonderful meal. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, and the sides, specifically the chorizo potato cubes, were incredibly tasty!  The staff were very attentive and friendly, making us feel very welcome indeed. In my experience, a great meal can either be made or broken by the staff; I'm delighted to say that the staff really helped make our evening a thoroughly enjoyable one. We will definitely be back to see you all again in the not-too-distant future, and we will definitely be recommending Harbour & Co to our friends.

20/08/2017: Myself and my partner had roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and all I can say is it was so good. The beef was slow cooked and so tender and the mash was lovely. The portion size is generous and the staff are very nice. It is a quaint place with lots of antiquities of a bygone era. Lovely for tourists or anyone wanting really good heartsome food.

Katch 27

Kircubbin, Ards
18/08/2017: After attending the wedding of the year at Orange Tree House on the Friday I had organised a group booking at Katch27 for the Saturday evening. As there was 14 in the group we had to pre order from the extensive set menu. There was a great choice and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. There was a lot more on the full menu which I had previosly enjoyed but was very satisfied with the quality of both the food and service. Marko also threw in a surprise sorbet on the house between courses. Hope to go there again soon. Highly recommended.
18/08/2017: My husband & I visited tonight & enjoyed 2 course early bird menu for £12.95 pp. (5 - 6.30pm) he had fish goujons & I had chicken goujons for starter followed by chicken ham & leek pie with champ & cod with pea puree & garlic chips - the food was clearly cooked from fresh with crisp batter & the pie was filled with meat & delicious creamy sauce. Generous portions with complimentary champagne sorbet served between courses. We will definitely recommend & will return. Well done Katch 27!!

The Boathouse Restaurant

Harbour, North Down
15/08/2017: My cousin and I visited the Boat House on Saturday for lunch and it was excellent. We were given advice, space and great hospitality by the manager who made us fell very welcome. The amuse bouche was amazing, the butters for the homemade breads beautiful, the best being their own with grated black truffle! Every course was stunning and we were also given complimentary baklava so what started out as a 3 course meal ended up in a 6 course. Absolutely a must. Thank you so much to all the staff for a beautiful meal (My cousin had just been for a 7 course tasting meal in Castle Leslie the week previous and she said it wouldn't hold a candle to our meal in the Boat House)
08/08/2017: Friday evening dinner for 2 was very enjoyable. Food was very tasty, and more than expected, and location was a surprise - it looks small from the outside, but there are different " decks", and the dining area has plenty of room.We went for the Veggie option, and for Lobster for our mains, and both were very good.Location was good, and handy for parking - we were there around 6.45, and service was good, and food was very enjoyable

Hugh McCann's

Donard, Down, <20£
15/08/2017: So glad we booked the Loft suite at Hugh McCann's for our wedding venue in July 2017. Absolutely perfect, everything was done to an excellent standard by the staff at Hugh McCann's - from the food, to looking after my new husband and myself, to our stay at the guesthouse next door. The views are magnificent of the sea and mountains, the wedding meal and evening food were outstanding, and the private bar area was a real asset. We felt so looked after in the run up to the day by Janet and on the day itself, Donna looked after us and was most helpful. All the staff were fantastic and left a great impression on our guests. Thank you!
15/08/2017: Attended a family wedding recently and found Hugh McCanns to be a lovely venue that catered for all. The food hit the spot, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the venue was spacious and well proportioned with plenty of space for all the guests.

Olive Bizarre

Donard, Down
18/08/2017: Lovely cafe located in the quiet harbour area (away from the main tourist crowds). This place is always my main stop on my regular visits to Newcastle for both coffee and lunches. The former is great and the food is tasty and clearly made from decent, locally sourced ingredients. The cafe is very popular with locals, cyclists, swimmers etc which means it can, on occasion get busy, but this is only a reflection of how nice it is. It's really heartening to see such a unique establishment in terms of decor and menu thrive in a resort town so heavily populated with the usual coffee chains and greasy spoons etc
17/08/2017: This is an unexpected pleasure at the South end of Newcastle, Co. Down. There is plenty of choice in the town for all sorts of cuisine, but this is different and a welcome change. You have to be prepared to seek it out and look for parking nearby. There really is plenty of parking around, but you might have to walk a few yard. A good variety of vegetarian meals. Daily specials and continental dishes...all simple, but appetising. I recommend their soups and afternoon teas with scones and traybake. Whilst there, don't leave without going to the toilet. A little bit of fun.

Haptik

Central, Ards
21/08/2017: I've never been a fan of porridge - but on a clean eating diet, I decided to try the porridge on the menu. Wow! What a delicious bowl of goodness!! It was topped with fresh fruit with a side helping of maple syrup. Yum! Highly recommended. Washed down with Americano.
08/08/2017: I can't understand why this coffee shop is so popular, it's not handy and I find it very dear and not much on the menu.
