Katch 27

Kircubbin, Ards
14/07/2019: From the outside it looks quite and ordinary little cafe. Step inside and your in for a wonderful feast. An extensive menu caters for every taste. Our party of 4 had a wonderful meal which included crab claws duck salad fish cakes whole lobsters sea bass and seared salmon. We finished with bread and butter pudding. While we had mainly fish we were very tempted by the meat dishes but maybe next time. This was our first visit but won’t be our last
14/07/2019: As a prologue to this review. I would ask anyone from Portaferry who eats in the "restaurants" in that town to please drive ,catch a bus walk redirect the ferry to katch 27

Villa Vinci

Shimna, Down
17/07/2019: Place was packed for a Tuesday evening but it was worth the wait. Food was excellent, we bought the bottle of wine over the glass as it worked out better value. Staff was excellent!
13/07/2019: We only stayed in Newcastle for 4 days and for 3 of those we ate at Villa Vinci...pretty much says it all really. Outstanding food, great wine, friendly welcoming staff, busy vibrant buzz, great service, lovely background music and all at a reasonable price. If you are going on a Friday or weekend evening then I'd advise booking, we did, but others were turned away as they were so busy.

The Boathouse Restaurant

Harbour, North Down
01/07/2019: Superb food.Great attention to us as guests. Very knowledgeable about the finer details of the food and alcohol. Such a great experience. We felt very special. It was a lovely evening.
12/06/2019: Not sure where to start the food, service atmosphere where all outstanding. Can't find a fault. The dining area is relatively small so you may need to book before you go.

The Lobster Pot

Strangford, Down, 30-45£
18/07/2019: Popped in after long day on the beach our way back to Castle Ward. Ordered couple of drinks and asked if it's possible to eat, but friendly barman checked with the kitchen and seated us in the bar area. We had local mussels and scampi..fresh and delicious.
15/07/2019: Hadn’t been to the Lobster Pot for a long long time until this evening, great and very friendly staff, decor is fabulous and the food even better. Terrific value, we both chose the ribeye, perfectly cooked and oozing flavour, we’re just back from Juan Les Pins on the Cote D,Azur where we had eaten in a lot of fabulous restaurants and the Lobster Pot has the equal of any one of them but easier on the pocket. An absolute gem in this beautiful village. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone

The Cuan

Strangford, Down, <20£
18/07/2019: I used to love this place. The food is always great, and it wasn't unusual to receive a welcome that made you feel like a long-lost-friend or even family member! But the last couple of visits have been a major disappointment. On the most recent visit, even on a quiet weekday lunchtime with the place half-empty, the service was so slow that we started to feel invisible. Drinks (tonic water) were brought without ice or lemon (Usually we would be asked).
13/07/2019: Visited The Cuan during the lunch break of out GoT tour. It was a warm and friendly place to visit which boasts the 1st commissioned door from the fallen 'dark hedges'. For lunch I had the roasted chicken with champ and pepper sauce which was delicious. There was plenty to choose from menu wise and the price was reasonable

Pimento

Moira, Lisburn
24/02/2019: I collected some customers from the airport and stopped off to introduce them to their first Irish breakfast, I was very impressed that I could order a mini version, perfectly cooked, grease free. Coffee was a lovely blend and we will definitely be back.
11/02/2019: Called in on our way to Portadown. We ere welcomed in by staff who even had a bit of character and light banter. We sat down - loved the stone decor. We ordered two small fry’s - they were spot on! The perfect size and let the missus swop a fried egg for a poached egg. Topped up our coffees free of charge when the meal came. Took a couple of scones for my friends o. portadown and they loved them. Defo be back.

Square bistro

Hilden, Lisburn
03/07/2019: Probably the best restaurant in central Lisburn. The food is mid to high end dining so not ideal for kids in my view.
02/07/2019: I have been to square bistro a couple of times and it is one of the nicest restaurants I have ever been to. I absolutely love it and I would definitely recommend it. I have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner and every meal was amazing. So if you are in Lisburn call in and have a drink or a quick bite to eat or even a proper meal. It is amazing.

Haptik

Central, Ards
13/07/2019: Haptik is the Go To place for my wife and I. The Mexican breakfast and the Bagdad Eggs are amazing. Throw in great service and a bit of craic with the Big lad Chris serving at the tables and result. Never disappointed - Oh and the coffee is well good! :)
09/07/2019: Dropped in for a coffee and cake for afternoon tea, we sat down at a table for two and a couple off minutes passed and we where asked by the waiter to move to a different table, the cafe/coffee shop was nearly empty. The choice of Cakes or Tray bakes was nothing special . Decided to order coffee and leave . I ordered a Cappuccino my partner ordered an Americano. Well his came down and I watched coffee heading to other tables yet no Cappuccino for me . 10 minutes passed only to be told by the waitress "sorry I give your coffee to another customer" .

Clenaghans

Moira, Lisburn, 30-45£
13/06/2019: Unbeknown to me, my Sister's visited here today for lunch. They both chòose the three course lunch at £20 per head. The younger sibling went for the Scotch eggs whilst the the Elder Stateswoman went for the soup, both dishes were applauded for there quality. As Phil Collins sang"Two hearts beating as one mind",both decided on the Sole in a bed of champ, with broccoli in a balsamic vinegar dressing, nectar except that the older Stateswoman mentioned that there was bones,no need for sole searching there.Sticky toffee puddings was the order of the day.Satisfaction is very subjective,a glass of wine £7 and a bottle of beer with Sprite £5.Now who's taking the Michael, Mr and Mrs Higginson???
31/05/2019: This was a return visit to this charming restaurant and it was even better than our previous visit. Service, food and atmosphere were all wonderful. Our appetisers were truly great especially the little cones filled with steak tartare. I could not recommend the restaurant more highly, either as a couple or as a party. We are thinking of returning for the 'ladies who lunch' on a Saturday. Thanks to all the staff

The Poacher's Pocket

Killinchy, Ards
18/07/2019: On Saturday 13th July myself and two friends arrived for a 6pm booking in the restaurant, when we checked in we were taken through a very crowded and noisy public bar which we had to push our way through to a part of the complex that I would class as a dining area for the public bar. It was bright and airy, however the table that we were seated at had bench seats, which made it difficult to get in and out of and also my side of the table was extremely tight, with my stomach right up against the edge of the table which was extremely uncomfortable. Also, during the our time at the table we could hear the noise and the occasional burst of singing coming from the bar area. I am practically deaf in one ear and the other one is not 100% and I could hear the noise loud and clear. When the booking was made we were not told that our table was going to be in this part of the complex. This did not add to the fine dining experience I have had here before and as I thought we in part of the public bar we were still charged restaurant prices for our meal. We paid £120 for a not so good dining experience.
16/07/2019: A great dog friendly pub eatery. Enjoyed the daily special and real ale. An accomodating menu yet lacking fish choices as many of this type of place seem to be guilty of. We shall return.
