Square View Restaurant

Woodburn, Carrickfergus
08/05/2019: Very busy Resturant so advise would be to book in advance but I think they also do bar snacks which is equally as good.
18/04/2019: Visited here for the first time on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was really busy and as we hadn't booked but we're advised we'd have a table in about 20 minutes. On a Wednesday evening on the Specials menu all main are £7 each. We had a drink and whilst waiting ordered our food from the menu. ( On which there is something to suit all tastes)

Ownies Bar

Killycrot, Carrickfergus, <20£
27/05/2019: There were a bunch of us that had completed a rainy hike around the Gobbins, and needed a family friendly place for sustenance. A good range of drinks, a limited menu of bar food but just what we needed, a £6 burger with trimmings and fries, a platter of wings, loaded wedges, onion rings and ribs for two for £12, clean toilets, comfortable seating and Sky Sports News
22/05/2019: I’m the kind of person, who looks into restaurant reviews prior going! I love food! Thus, going to Carrickfergus sailing, on recommendation from marina staff and trip advisor, I finally chose to go to Ownies and wish I’d went elsewhere.

Have tried many different dishes as recommended by Dev and they have all been fantastic. Has made us more adventurous trying new dishes. Well deserved award as No 1 Indian restaurant in Northern Ireland and No 2 on the whole island of Ireland.

11/05/2019: Food beautiful! Garlic king prawn is to die for!! Staff wonderful! Excellent service!! Reasonably priced!! We get takeaways regularly and also sit in occasionally. Never been disappointed!!! Staff go above and beyond to help with dish choices, etc. The most welcoming restaurant we have ever visited. Thanks Alex and team
28/04/2019: Enjoyed a lovely meal with great service as usual. Good understanding of dietary requirements which is great for me as a diagnosed Coeliac. And one of the few places that I can eat poppadoms.

The Bank House Coffee Shop

Whitehead, Carrickfergus
26/05/2019: This was our first stop on our trip to Northern Ireland. The sandwiches were excellent, all freshly made to order with fresh bread and a wide selection of ingredients. Desert selection was of a similar standard, with a good selection of freshly baked cakes & deserts. The coffee comes highly recommended too.
13/04/2019: Really good place for a cup of coffee or a light lunch from their deli, lots of different cheese and meats and things. Great atmosphere, live music some days, bag of plastic animals and books for the kids. I like the coffee, she loves the soups they do.

Sozo

Killycrot, Carrickfergus, <20£
16/04/2019: Sozo's food is excellent and the staff cannot be more helpful. Really great spot for a small function, Christmas party etc. Very accommodating.
08/04/2019: Used to work here, went back a few days ago to have a coffee and scone with my friend and was surprised at how down hill it’s gotten. The soya cappuccino had no flavour and was lumpy??? Either cheap soya milk or it was out of date, I’d rather die wondering which of the two it was. The foam had clearly been spooned out of the jug and onto the cup. No design, but rather a mountain of frothy out of date milk with chocolate powder to try and mask the mess (I’ve attached images). The plain scone was homemade but had been sitting a while so had gone stale, but it was then microwaved so the outside was like a rock and the inside soft and gooey, farrrr too moist. The interior of the shop was dirty and really untidy, not sure when it was last cleaned? Certainly not that week anyway. What was supposed to be a peak time for the shop (12pm-1pm) was dead, there was our table and one other table in the shop. Only complaint about the staff is the new girl? She’s English I think, has no customer service skills and was rude to us the whole time. Maybe a vendetta against me, who knows lol. £9 for, frankly, two coffees I couldn’t drink but rather chew, and a scone which was somehow rock solid and dry yet soggy and soft in the centre. Wish I had went somewhere else lmao.

The Old Tea House Whitehead

Whitehead, Carrickfergus
24/05/2019: I had the Ulster fry, cooked to perfection, no grease nice and dry and crispy organic bacon and egg , lovely soda and potato bread, My wife had the fresh crab and salad on a toasted wheaten with lemon grass dressing . Absolutely delicious. Staff so friendly and efficient. We will be back.
07/05/2019: My partner and I called in on Sunday past for a bit of lunch.Sign outside and inside saying award winning seafood chowder (I don’t know what award they got) but it certainly would not win anything in my book.My partner had the soup of the day which was also poor (she left most of it).On the plus side I have to admit that every other dish that passed by our table looked great.

Whitehead Golf Club Restaurant

Blackhead, Carrickfergus
02/06/2019: Ate here as a family. Two children in tow were made welcome. Ordered a steak done rare and it was cooked perfectly. The staff had no problem splitting an adult fish and chips between our two children. Best coffee I had in the whole town! My wife had the hake special which she loved.
20/05/2019: We have eaten many times at golf club and the food is excellent. The carvery is great value and such a great choice of different meats. All very tender and good choice of veg. The desserts are wonderful. Too good actually. Have had lunch and evening meals also and never been disappointed. The staff are really friendly and nothing is to much trouble. We intend to go back as often as possible. Well done!

Coastal Coffee

Whitehead, Carrickfergus
09/05/2019: I have been twice last week. It is very child friendly, clean, there is a toilet. Very good food for a good price. The kids love that there is ice cream. The decor looks good. My friends and family like it too, because there is always something to eat for the vegetarians or gluten free eaters. The owner is very friendly. I drive up from Carrickfergus just to go to this cafe.
02/04/2019: My friend and I called into Coastal Coffee today for some lunch. We both decided on the Ulster Fry with tea. We both were particularly impressed with the freshness of the food, and not a drip of grease in sight! Delicious and very filling. The tea was also brought out in a large pot, this was great as we both had multiple cups out of it. The lady who served us was very warm and welcoming, not to mention very kind and friendly. Nothing was too much hassle for her. If you are ever in the Whitehead area and are looking for somewhere for lunch, I would highly recommend this spot!!

Bentra Grill

Whitehead, Carrickfergus
11/05/2019: They have a new menu; I’m happy Salted Chilli Chicken starter. Very succulent chicken, crunchy salad and vegetables, the sauce in a container so you can choose how much you prefer. A great combination. I had the Pork Medallions for my main course. I’d never tried this dish. Plenty of meat, loads of mushrooms. Their side orders come in deep bowls, and stay very hot for a very long time, which is good. With the pork you might fancy two side orders, but I was with someone, so we were able to share each other’s. The music was pleasant and not intrusive, tracks from people like Ed Sheeran. For dessert we shared a kiwi and strawberry pavlova. It’s a big dessert. We come here irregularly; the previous meal included their Hawaiian Burger for £10.95, followed by a Sticky Chocolate and Orange Cake (Heated) dessert for £5.25. I come back because the food is very good, plus the view, plus the service. Free car park, luxuriously big dining area.

Espresso at ETC

Killycrot, Carrickfergus
07/05/2019: My husband and I had afternoon tea and thoroughly enjoyed it so when my family arrived on holiday we booked another afternoon for the four of us.
05/02/2019: I had a challenge for them. I was teaching a class in 25 minutes’ time, several streets away. Did they have food I could have and eat quickly enough? “Yes,” was the cheerful answer, in fact they had lots of choices that could be heated in a minute, and more things I could choose to take away. I went for some microwaved bacon and mushroom quiche, plus side salad, plus a free glass of water. £4.99. I liked it, it was with me quickly, and I was away in good time. The salad had lots of ingredients: lettuce, sweetcorn, red onion, a cherry tomato, diced peppers, and cucumber. Plus coleslaw. Plus bread. The dining area is large, with space between tables. Good light, some colourful photos of Carrick Castle on the walls. They’re at the back of a shop on the main street. Staff were very helpful, and well able to cope with my lack of time. Well done.

Rumours Coffee House

Killycrot, Carrickfergus
03/04/2019: Great little cafe with excellent food and great service. All their dishes are excellent and they have a fantastic variety of cakes and scones. Overall a very good place and the service is exceptional, only one issue that I do not like is there is sometimes people sitting at the back using bad language or talking about subjects that are not appropriate for a place like this.
22/03/2019: was told that this cafe was,dog friendly went along with my shih tzu dog coco was told dogs arnt allowed very disappointed wont ve sack in a hurry.
