Matties Meeting House

Carncastle, Larne
29/10/2018: Over the last couple of weeks myself and friends dined here. I have been meaning to do this from my first visit. But this place just keeps getting better. The food is great, with a good menu and very reasonably priced.
26/10/2018: Coming to Matties when I’m back in NI always makes me feel like I’m at home! Great place, great atmosphere, Great food!

Wee Cottage

Garvagh, Coleraine
20/10/2018: We had lunch here after visiting Dunluce Castle. While this is definitely not a 5*restaurant it deserves a 5 circle rating for doing well what it is supposed to. We had a great lunch of homemade soup and bread. We didn't partake but the scones and pastries looked fabulous and people were ordering coffees that were nice sounding. The tables were comfortable and the space was immaculate. If you want a quick, cozy, delicious lunch this is the place.
11/10/2018: We have eaten scones and tea all over the earth at this point and nothing can beat the experience at the Wee Cottage with its view of Dunluce Castle, the warm welcome at the counter, asking my husband "Shall you be Mother?" on delivering our tea....this is the most unforgettable place and experience. My husband and I had the scones and it was all wee needed for lunch with tea.....our daughter had a bite of them and then a great sandwhich on homemade bread. We bought a few cards, our daughter bought a print, and we left with wonderful shortbread that we enjoyed back home in the US!! Only sad part was that I left behind my beautiful large shawl that I knitted just to wear in Ireland....

The Bushmills Inn Restaurant

Bushmills, Moyle
11/12/2018: Not to be missed after braving the sometimes inclement weather on a bracing walk. Warm, friendly, authentic local ambiance, and wonderful food and a good selection of beverages enjoyed in front of an open fire you could easily settle in here and soak up the atmosphere.
28/11/2018: We stayed at the Bushmills Inn for 2 nights in September 2018 and ate all of our meals in the restaurant. Even though we were staying steps away, I would have traveled to eat here! Both Dinners were excellent, and the waiters made us laugh! The Sticky Toffee Pudding (my favorite) was to die for. Breakfast were excellent as well.

Anzac Bistro

Glentaisie, Moyle, <20£
05/12/2018: The second time we have visited. From the service to the starter to the main course the food was superb a definite recommendation for anyone.
28/11/2018: Was over in Ballycastle with some friends who were visiting Northern Ireland for the first time. Had some drinks in the bar on the Friday night and then some food afterwards. We selected from the dinner menu and bar menu and ate at a table beside the bar. Everything was absolutely fantastic, my Philly Cheese Steak was the best ever and with garlic fries and onions etc only a tenner. Everyone else was more than satisfied with theirs, so much so that we decided to eat there again on the Saturday night. One of my friends tried the hake, which he had never tried before and wouldn't have done so had he not had such a lovely meal the night before (chicken parmigiana). He was not disappointed, it was delicious as was the rest of our meals. Very reasonably priced, and very good and friendly service. Will definitely be back

Rumours Coffee House

Killycrot, Carrickfergus
22/09/2018: This little coffee/pastry shop is across the street from the Carrickfergus Castle and serves good coffee. Didn't try the pastries. He even put some whipped cream on the top of my coffee for me in lieu of skim milk.
27/08/2018: 3 rd visit - the best scrambled eggs and bacon anyway. Staff very friendly and efficient and relaxed atmosphere.

The Bank House Coffee Shop

Whitehead, Carrickfergus
07/11/2018: This is my favourite place to meet friends for coffee or lunch . Lovely staff gorgeous food and a warm genuine atmosphere .
03/11/2018: They don't really do cooked food here (I assume due to apparent lack of kitchen facilities), but instead concentrate mostly on sandwiches & soup (there are sweet things and excellent coffee too).

Mary McBride's Pub

Glendun, Moyle
01/12/2018: Just by chance...OMG..perfect chowder and yummy. Cushendun northwest Ireland on the scenic coastal route. A little gem north side of the bridge.
10/11/2018: Stopped off here for lunch having seen the many positive reviews and wasn’t disappointed. We received a warm welcome and great service from the friendly staff. First excellent Guinness(es) of our trip to NI and fantastic Chowder to eat. All next to a roaring fire in the cosy bar adorned with vintage Guinness posters. A memorable visit, hopefully to be repeated one day.

The Bay Cafe

Dalriada, Moyle
09/11/2018: Very friendly helpful staff, great food and great value for money. And open on a Sunday morning, when many others were closed. Highly recommended
08/11/2018: Stopped here on way along the coast from Giants causeway back to Belfast for a late lunch. Food was fantastic and excellent value for money. Staff excellent also

Roark's Kitchen

Kinbane, Moyle
12/11/2018: Very cozy place to visit. Lovely cakes and coffee. The boys just love the little shop always talk about the honeycomb they get there and the delicious sausage rolls. Situated in one of the most gorgeous places to visit on our wee island. Staff are very nice too.
12/11/2018: This is a tiny little café in the most beautiful location. We visited on a cold morning. The coffee was great - but the display of the most beautiful home baked cakes on offer was spectacular! We sampled the fresh cream and jam sponge and the carrot cake. Both delicious. We were not long after breakfast so couldn't do justice to the huge array of home cooked produce. Would highly recommend this little place to visitors. Thank you for a delicious morning coffee break!

Fullerton Arms Restaurant

Kinbane, Moyle, <20£
03/12/2018: I wish I could have had something more exciting from the menu, but unfortunately I came in with a bus tour group so we had to choose from a limited number of dishes that I supposed are quicker to make and even order a head of our arrival. Mind that I'm still rating on just the food I had, not this rushed experience. I got the Chicken Goujons which were good, tender and crispy as I would hoped they'd be. Nothing special, but they did fill me without leaving me filling heavy. If you're ever in same situation as me, I would recommend the Chicken Goujons so you'll stay light on your feet for the rest of the tour—unless you came ready with a mighty hunger, then go for the Beef and Guinness Stew.
28/11/2018: I called in here recently as part of a Game of Thrones tour. We pre-ordered the food and it was ready within 5 minutes of us arriving me and my wife had the burger with chips are they were very tasty.

The Anchor Bar Complex

Portstewart, Coleraine
03/12/2018: We stopped off here for an early dinner and it was a pleasurable experience. I opted for the chicken chorizo pasta and my wife the cod and chips. Very good quality food, served piping hot in generous portions. The wait-staff were pro-active and warm. This is a good choice for quick pub food in a pleasant ambiance. Well done to the staff - thank you for the great service and warm welcome
19/11/2018: My preference for drinking establishments is an old fashioned quaint pub with atmosphere. The Anchor lacks this because it's not that kind of pub, but it's location helps to exude the marine vibe. Dark wood, great staff, and a good pint, go a long way to making this a worthwhile visit.

Upstairs @ Joe's

Glenaan, Moyle
09/11/2018: Tout était parfait. L'accueil qui a bien honoré la réservation faite par téléphone. Le service impeccable et la nourriture parfaite. Les crevettes (prawns) à la tomate, c'est juste une tuerie !
07/11/2018: We had the pleasure of having dinner here on Saturday night. It was busy but not packed and there was a lovely atmosphere. From the minute we arrived the staff were very attentive. Our food was delicious. I had the salmon and my husband had the gambas dish. Both were beautifully presented and both were delicious. We are local to the area and eat out quite often and we both agreed that this food is tops any competition on the North Coast. Highly recommend!

The Harbour Bistro

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
05/11/2018: Not worth the long wait for a table. Terrible service, staff are over worked and seem miserable. Waiter dropped bread from our starter and said he would bring more but never appeared again. The place was chaos and everyone around us was equally disappointed and couldn’t wait to leave. Steaks were tough. No idea what the hype is all about.
03/11/2018: This used to be one of our favourite restaurants and would have visited 4 or 5 times a year. However a year ago we had a couple of not great experiences and thought the quality of food had dipped so were trying other restaurants. We were up last week for half term and children really wanted to go so thought we would try it. Well so glad we did. Great to see it’s all table service now so no more trying to remember everyone’s order. We had the breads to share and there were 6 pieces all with different toppings. Yum. I went for steak and it was cooked as asked medium. Steak was lovely and def improvement on last visit. Mum had chicken goujons and chicken was lovely. Children’s meals were good size and great choice of menu for them. Staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. All in all a great meal and I can’t wait to go back with hubby

Galgorm, Ballymena
12/12/2018: As per previous review, cold by the window and thought the chips, table water were over priced. A steak knife for my steak I feel was essential, but not available
12/12/2018: Visited here after A Spa Visit at Galgorm Hotel . As you would expect of a restaurant in this top class establishment this is an excellent restaurant serving great food and drink with genuine Italian staff who could not do enough to help you enjoy your experience. We were with a visitor from Italy who endorsed our opinion and spent much of the time chatting to the very attentive staff who were happy to assist him in ordering our food from the comprehensive menu. As with most good Italian restaurants there was a feeling and ambiance of friendliness, family and enjoyment of the food on offer.

Marys Bar

Glebe, Magherafelt
17/12/2018: Was at Mary’s yesterday for a booked group dinner. It wasn’t busy. 3 of our group sent dinner back to be reheated, they all should have been sent back. Dinner was mean & disappointing - one person had 2 Brussel Sprouts on their plate & there was no cocktail sausages on any plate. The highlight of the dinner was the extra roast potatoes we asked for because they were hot unlike the rest of the dinner! Very disappointed - won’t be in any hurry back!!
14/11/2018: Lovely place, helpful friendly staff. Delicious food. Generous portions. Caesar salad is the best I’ve ever tasted and I can’t wait to visit the area again so I can have more!
