The Scenic Inn

Stranocum, Ballymoney
18/08/2018: I enjoyed the best meal of the summer on Thursday last. The family ate 3 adult and 2 children’s meals, with drinks, and desserts for the kids. £64... amazing value. My steak was flavoursome, tender, huge and cooked to perfection, hidden beneath a mountain of crispy onions and accompanied by proper chips, salad and pepper sauce. I will be reliving this meal during the coming months as I embark on a serious diet. Thursday and Friday are ‘steak night’ in the Scenic, by the way. Service with a smile and a ‘can-do’ attitude. Recommended without any reservations. It might be worth making a reservation though as we had tried to eat there earlier in the summer and couldn’t get a table. Ate elsewhere locally on that occasion, and although the food there was fine, the Scenic is head and shoulders above it.
13/08/2018: First visit on Monday afternoon to The Scenic Inn and it was exceptional. The lady was very welcoming and friendly. Excellent menu was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back....service, menu and food were all worthy of five stars!

Square View Restaurant

Woodburn, Carrickfergus
06/11/2018: Have been several times now and food is excellent, staff very friendly and value for money. Well worth a visit can recommend the chicken with mash and peppered sauce called SquareView Chicken. My husband likes the steaks he says they are cooked to perfection.

Sleepy Hollow Restaurant

Mallusk, Newtownabbey
11/11/2018: Been here a few times, but the first time for Sunday dinner. Starter was abit disappointing with the homemade sausage ok but roll very small. However, the main course was excellent with plenty of meat and vegetables. Too full to have dessert.
10/11/2018: Have not visited here for over 20 years. What a change. Place looked a bit rundown. Lighting was poor outside and pointing upwards shining in ones eyes so you couldn’t see the uneven path. Inside looked as if it needed money spent on it. First impression in the foyer was it looked like a storeroom dim and gloomy with the laundry piles stacked high up.

Harbour bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
07/11/2018: Lovely little restaurant and bar. As always lovely food and very well presented. Desserts are delightful and super tasty! Can be busy during summer months, if you have the time, it’s worth the wait.
06/11/2018: You must try this pub. It is a great Irish Pub. The staff welcoming and the customers very friendly and welcoming. The beer is excellent. Didn’t try the the restaurant but from the reports I heard the food was very good indeed.

Cafe Revive

Glenaan, Moyle, <20£
09/11/2018: I went in for breakfast again yesterday and had my usual toasted soda bread with poached eggs - complemented with two delicious americanos! This is a small cafe, very comfortable, warm and cosy, home-made food/cakes/scones, always fresh and delicious. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Try it!
27/10/2018: Came here for breakfast, tea and scone! Was lovely, food was good and the staff where friendly and accommodating. It’s a gorgeous we hidden gem and is like going out for a high tea party!

The Rinka

Island Magee, Larne
24/10/2018: We were doing the Gobbins cliff walk with some folks there were local and told us to stop here for ice cream! Worth the stop and the ice cream was outstanding! Stop here!!
14/10/2018: My wife & I make regular 60 mile round trips just to visit the Rinkha. Their ice creams are flavoursome and delicious and there is a decent variety available at any given time. If you're in the area, look it up and try it for yourself. You won't regret it!

The Red Door Tea Room

Kinbane, Moyle
26/10/2018: We found this place by chance as we were heading to Giant’s Causeway, so glad we stopped here. Cosy and warm inside, great service and delicious food. My family ate fish chowder with weaten bread and beef & Guinness pie. It was busy inside as the weather was blustery and cold, plenty of seating outside in better weather.
24/10/2018: We were looking for a nice traditional restaurant to experience some delicious local Irish food.

Ownies Bar

Killycrot, Carrickfergus, <20£
07/11/2018: We ate here in October, as soon as we stepped into the pub we were made welcome. The pub is a traditiona Irish pub with great atmosphere, the food was excellent, well priced with great service.

ocho tapas bistro

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
11/11/2018: We visited with friends on Friday night. Food was fresh, imaginative and delicious. The staff were charming. Not surprised in the least that this little gem is No1 restaurant in the town. A truly brilliant lovely evening. Will be back very soon 😊
10/11/2018: I along with family viaited this wonderful restaurant in Portrush this evening Too long since we last visited- it is one special restaurant.

Glenaan, Moyle
29/10/2018: can't help myself , but keep going back , different menu but the quality never lets it down , all tried something different and none of us disappointed
28/10/2018: We had lunch here one day and dinner another and both times we were so pleased. I loved the mussels and the fish stew and I would recommend them highly. Pair them with a lovely Guinness and you have the perfect meal. My husband enjoyed a great bowl of veggie soup one day (lunch) and roast beef dinner the second day. The service was great and the food makes it worth a return trip.

Billy Andy's

Glynn, Larne
28/10/2018: Food as usual was excellence but dining experience was not good. Starters arrived promptly but we waited 40 minutes for main course. We had to ask for a dessert menu and had to wait another 30 minutes for dessert to be served. Coffee was ordered but did not arrive. Waitresses were lovely and trying their best but it was obvious that the restaurant needed to be better organised and managed.
28/10/2018: Not for the first time and on this occasion along with five other family members, I visited for dinner yesterday evening. Unfortunately there had been a mix-up with the booking - don't know why or whose fault - but the staff pulled the situation round and we had a really enjoyable evening, really first class! The food was excellent and the service very attentive. What a fabulous place and highly recommended. 5-star! Thank you very much.

Ardtara Country House Hotel Restaurant

Upperlands, Magherafelt
05/08/2018: Booked in for my mum's 60th birthday, large group of all ages, and the place was fantastic. Great attention to detail, attentive staff, lovely touch's throughout the meal. We felt like we'd been going there for years even though we've never been through the door. First class.
29/07/2018: Not having stayed at the lovely Ardtara House for a few years, we reserved 2 places for Chef Patron Ian Orr's Italian cookery demo and dinner, staying overnight B'n'B. Nicola was very helpful in the booking process and Valerie gave us a warm welcome and introduction to our fine room on arrival. Ian's cookery demo, to a packed restaurant, was fascinating and the accompanying meal first class. Manager Sean kept a friendly watchful eye throughout a most enjoyable stay in this grand house offering the best of friendly hospitality. Well recommended !

Crosskeys Inn

Grange, Ballymena
04/11/2018: Stopped in here on our way to the Giants Causeway from Dublin, was later on a Sunday night so not much going on... fire to ourselves and the bartender showing us the pub and hearing about the history, ghost stories included (perfect for Halloween). Just by chance we met the actual thatcher for the roof and he told us stories about Ireland, the pub, his experiences... for an improvised stop and looking back on our trip, it was one of the most genuine and amazing experiences. Wonderful spot and wonderful people.
12/10/2018: Everything was excellent from the authentic thatch roof to the warm peet fire and the “trad” music performed by local musicians.

Mayur Indian Restaurant

Killycrot, Carrickfergus
27/10/2018: Called in on a Monday evening for a meal for 2. Such a warm welcome from the owner, we loved the ambiance and felt very comfortable & relaxed within the first 2 minutes.
25/10/2018: We happened to be passing Carrickfergus Castle at lunch time. Ordered two meals. Mirchi korma to die for and the owner Dev recommended Chicken Chettinad a variation on Madras. Both meals absolutely delicious. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks Dev
