The Scenic Inn

Stranocum, Ballymoney
18/08/2018: I enjoyed the best meal of the summer on Thursday last. The family ate 3 adult and 2 children’s meals, with drinks, and desserts for the kids. £64... amazing value. My steak was flavoursome, tender, huge and cooked to perfection, hidden beneath a mountain of crispy onions and accompanied by proper chips, salad and pepper sauce. I will be reliving this meal during the coming months as I embark on a serious diet. Thursday and Friday are ‘steak night’ in the Scenic, by the way. Service with a smile and a ‘can-do’ attitude. Recommended without any reservations. It might be worth making a reservation though as we had tried to eat there earlier in the summer and couldn’t get a table. Ate elsewhere locally on that occasion, and although the food there was fine, the Scenic is head and shoulders above it.
13/08/2018: First visit on Monday afternoon to The Scenic Inn and it was exceptional. The lady was very welcoming and friendly. Excellent menu was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back....service, menu and food were all worthy of five stars!

Tartine Restaurant at The Distillers Arms

Bushmills, Moyle, 30-45£
04/09/2018: Fabulous from the moment we walked in. Such a warm welcome. Great service. Everything was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was excellent
03/09/2018: Quaint and different. Fully booked and we saw at least three parties turned away as we waited to be seated. The service was warm and friendly. The food superb! The boxed Camembert starter was amazing - and very filling! My steak was just perfect!!

Square View Restaurant

Woodburn, Carrickfergus
10/08/2018: Such a lovely evening, we decided to go down to the coast for a meal... Checked on here for your recommendation, I thank you fellow Trips... We had a fantastic meal, with such genuine hospitality from the Staff... I would thoroughly recommend this Gem of place. We felt so relaxed, with a wonderful view and a great atmosphere. Steak, Medium Rare, cooked to perfection. Roasted Chicken, was 'the best'.
06/08/2018: Great value, great food and excellent hospitality. This is a great find and a wonderful venue for food and drinks. Very child friendly aswell. The restaurant manager is super helpful and always attentive. Love the place, highly recommended.

Harbour bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
19/08/2018: Went for sunday lunch, unable to book a table but we were there for 2pm and harbour bistro opening..staff are so so friendly and they have a great menu! Lovely deserts also 😀
19/08/2018: This is a great homey local pub with great employees and patrons alike. A great plus is that it’s attached to a great restaurant !!

Sleepy Hollow Restaurant

Mallusk, Newtownabbey
28/08/2018: Just left this place... We had the choice of 2 course or 3 courses for 16.50 or 18.50. Opted for 3 courses. I ordered chicken liver parfait and when it came it was so salty it was inedible. Shared my partners scampi started which was just, ok. When the girl came to clear the plates away i told her the parfait was extremely salty and I couldn't eat it. She looked shocked and said ok. Then another girl comes over and asks what was wrong and I explained, she went away and came back to explain it had been wrapped in ham and I explained I understood this but she must taste it to see that it was still too salty. At this point i was starting to feel uncomfortable even though the girl was nice enough. She went off and came back and said I've just tasted yours and i agree its awful so thats off your bill. Happy days lets move on to mains. I ordered the chowder... It was a bowl of roasted baby boils with mussles surrounding it with piece of cod and smoked haddock. There was a drizzle of sauce at the bottom of the bowl, like literally a smear of sauce to cover the plate at the bottom. This is not how chowder is made. Chowder to me is a hearty healthy soup with fish and some veg in it. My partner had the lamb which while tasted ok it was dry! I didn't bother to say anything to staff as I didn't want to seem like i was being a pest after the starter episode. We didn't stay for the 3rd course although those who ordered desserts looked like they were lovely. I won't be back here again. Well written menu and would be lovely if it was cooked properly. Waste of money for us, sorry. Am back home now about to have some
27/08/2018: Our Bank holiday lunch meal out, pre-book before hand as it is always busy on bank holidays.

ocho tapas bistro

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
19/08/2018: Our family ate a tasty brunch here in June. The service was good and the menu was good. Some unusual and very tasty dishes. We might visit again.
19/08/2018: My wife and I were so impressed on our first visit to Ocho Tapas that we returned within the same week. We were not disappointed. The food is superb; full of flavours and the portions are just right. With great ambience and lovely helpful staff, what more could you want? If I lived closer to this restaurant (and if I could afford to), I would eat here seven days a week.

The French Rooms

Bushmills, Moyle, 20-30£
04/09/2018: The front of this restaurant is a spice, tea, and gift shop. We walked past it twice before realizing they also served meals, but only Thursday thru Sunday. Reservations are a must. The meals are somewhat unique, and no single cuisine type would identify it. Very good, a bit pricey, but a definite location for a romantic, quiet, or special occasion.
28/08/2018: We visited on 4th Aug 2018 and were surprised to find this relatively up-market restaurant in Bushmills. The setting inside is of a good quality, as is the food as is the service. Enjoyed our time in there and if in Bushmills we will definitely return.

Glenaan, Moyle
18/08/2018: We visited on Friday 17th August for a meal at tea time. I ordered the fish trio off the special at £15.00 when the dish arrived the assortment of veg was extremely poor as there was one small piece of carrot one piece of broccoli and parsnip The meal itself was tasty. We have been visiting Harry’s for a number of years now and it was always a treat to go there. There was a takeover about a year or so and I have to say that lately we have noticed the portions are getting smaller ( I used to struggle to finish the meal as there was soo much) but now there is a huge difference in size!!! Also there is a marked difference in price as the average price was around £11.00 for a main where as now the average is around £15.00 at that time you would have got a main and desert for £15-16!!!
15/08/2018: Hemos cenado aquí dos de nuestras cuatro noches en Cushendall. Raciones muy grandes. Mucha variedad de platos y cocina de calidad.

Kiwi's Brew Bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
17/08/2018: The craft beer selection in Kiwis is one of, if not THE best anywhere on the north coast. Local Lacada Brewery bottles brewed in Portrush. Also, the burgers are superb. Our only problem was which one to choose.
16/08/2018: Nice bar but very awkward when trying to navigate through it.

Cafe Revive

Glenaan, Moyle, <20£
28/08/2018: great cafe very friendly and helpful staff all cakes and pies are homebaked and very fresh Steven the owner is very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area and willing to guide tourists
21/08/2018: Touring about today and passing through Cushendall. Stopped here for a bite after reading reviews and so glad I did. I had poached eggs, the best ever! My little who is a really fussy eater ordered soda bread and beans and loved every mouthful and my son ordered the lite fry. He enjoyed every bit as did I. Very much a vintage theme going on. The lady was so friendly taking our order as was the chef when o went to pay. Kids - 8 years - could not believe the price or date of the Beamon magazines. Definitely worth a visit and I would certainly be stopping again if I was passing through. Many thanks cafe revive!

The Red Door Tea Room

Kinbane, Moyle
19/08/2018: Came in with another couple for some food after a walk along the shore. Staff were lovely and accomodating even though it was very busy.
18/08/2018: We'd recommend this for its good tea and food, served in a charming room. Also suitable as a place to avoid the crowds in high season down at the harbour.

Mayur Indian Restaurant

Killycrot, Carrickfergus
07/08/2018: We bought takeaway here for our family. We were very disappointed with quality of food.
06/08/2018: Excellent food and pleasant staff. A restaurant I would rate as one of the best in Carrickfergus. I rate it in a wider area for Indian food. None to match!

Ardtara Country House Hotel Restaurant

Upperlands, Magherafelt
05/08/2018: Booked in for my mum's 60th birthday, large group of all ages, and the place was fantastic. Great attention to detail, attentive staff, lovely touch's throughout the meal. We felt like we'd been going there for years even though we've never been through the door. First class.
29/07/2018: Not having stayed at the lovely Ardtara House for a few years, we reserved 2 places for Chef Patron Ian Orr's Italian cookery demo and dinner, staying overnight B'n'B. Nicola was very helpful in the booking process and Valerie gave us a warm welcome and introduction to our fine room on arrival. Ian's cookery demo, to a packed restaurant, was fascinating and the accompanying meal first class. Manager Sean kept a friendly watchful eye throughout a most enjoyable stay in this grand house offering the best of friendly hospitality. Well recommended !

The Side Door Bistro Restaurant

Hightown, Newtownabbey
24/08/2018: Had dinner in The Side Door tonight and the food is excellent - cooked to order. Good menu and plenty of options. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. A really nice place and great food.
19/08/2018: Well, what can I say about this little gem of a restaurant.

Mermaid Kitchen and Bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
18/08/2018: First time at the Mermaid and definitely won’t be the last. Very enjoyable evening for both of us. Service was second to none from Hannah & Lilly, they’re a credit for this place. The food was to die for.
15/08/2018: We enjoyed our dinner at the Mermaid. Friendly staff, great food, attractive atmosphere and great harbour view!
