Bistro Este

Ballyhackamore, Belfast, <20£
11/11/2018: My partner and I decided we wanted a traditional Sunday roast dinner and made the big 10 minute walk to Bistro Este. What a good idea!
07/11/2018: The restaurant is nice to sit in and has a pleasant atmosphere. The menu had a good selection with something for everyone and the food didn’t disappoint when it arrived. The service was polite, professional and attentive and I was really pleased to see that the straw with my drink wasn’t a single use plastic one. Credit is deserved for a local business trying to make a difference to the environment while also impressing on all the usual expected areas too.

Neills Hill Brasserie

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
02/12/2018: What can I say? From the succulent pork, the moist turkey to the melt in the mouth roast beef I enjoyed every mouthful. I have been here a couple of times and never had a bad meal. I would recommend this place but do get a reservation. 100% well worth the the trip.
01/12/2018: Had the most amazing meal in Neil’s last night. The Turkey dinner was delicious followed by their Christmas Pudding with cream and Butter brandy sauce which was the tastiest pudding I have ever had ( and I love pudding) . Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in Belfast .

Acapulco Restaurant

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
09/12/2018: We need more stars! Family meal tonight - gorgeous food, plenty of it, wonderful staff and service. Relaxed atmosphere. Love it. A gem of Belfast.
28/11/2018: Went tonight on a whim, restaurant was very quiet, greeted like long lost friends. Had chilli sizzlers and loaded nachos as starters, as usual, brilliant, mains of flautas and burrito, enough to feed an elephant! Again, outstanding, slight delay because someone had not turned up for work. I was presented with a beer on the house, our waitress was so attentive and pleasant, she made our visit!

Horatio Todd's Bar & Restaurant

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
18/12/2018: Went on Sunday for early family Christmas lunch. Although I had booked weeks ago they seemed to have no record. Not to worry place was empty although I had only been given choice of 12:30 or 3:30 sitting! We were offered 2 menus. The3 course Christmas lunch menu which I had booked price £25 or normal Sunday menu which include soup and turkey ham for only £15. My wife having just been place on list for surgery doesn’t have big appetite decided to go just for this 2 course special. My son ordered same starter and main which when they came were exactly same size portions. This meant we were being charged an extra £10 for a desert and soft drink! Felt ripped off.
14/12/2018: As a regular visitor to Horatio Todd’s with my husband we had no hesitation in booking a party of 11 friends to celebrate the Christmas season.

Rajput

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
08/12/2018: We have been customers of the Rajput for a few years and it has always been good quality food. However our last meal was disappointing to say the least. We ordered a Chicken Tikka Korma and the first thing we noticed was that the sauce was extremely thin, almost the consistency of water. A good Korma should have a thick, creamy sauce with a very slight sweetness. This Korma was just like eating sugary water, almost as if someone had poured a cup of sugar into a sauce without any cream or other ingredients.
05/12/2018: I went here at the weekend with a friend - we wanted to share a starter, main course, rice and naan (all served at the same time). I've done this every single time I've been to this restaurant with one other person - without a problem). This time after selecting what we wanted, the waiter abruptly told us that we could not share food and that we each had to order a main course. He said it "didn't pay them" to let people do what we were requesting - this was the 6.30pm sitting - the place was full - and he had told me on the phone earlier in the week that the later sitting was also full - so I can't see what doesn't pay them. My friend has a tiny appetite and is at times very unwell - in the end we struggled to manage two full mains / rice bread and there was food left over. It certainly didn't "pay" us to order two mains - we lost out on that one - but then it seems it's not about the customer. Nowhere on the menu or website do they say that you have to order a main course each - and legally they have to so hopefully someone will read this and pass that on to them, given that they don't appear to have an email address. You simply cannot introduce a new rule and not have it displayed in your restaurant or on a website - You need to make it very very clear to people at the outset. I have never encountered this before in the type of restaurant where sharing food is quite a common thing, so that everyone can try different dishes. In addition the staff are arrogant - they really do believe that they are the best in town - I have news for you - you are not! The young guy (Manager?) is one of the most arrogant, self-assured, patronising people I have ever encountered. The food is quite good - it is not by any means fabulous. It is over-priced (around £15 for most dishes excluding rice). Rajput was really quite good when it first opened but it has gone rapidly down hill both in standards and attitude. You certainly have lost a customer in me, and trust me, in time you will lose other customers too if you continue to treat them in this unacceptable manner. My advice to anyone reading this, try Cinnamon in Dundonald - much much better food / cheaper and genuinely nice staff! I'm not sure if the Rajput have ever heard of the saying "every dog has its day" - someone explain it to them please! Stiff competition is just around the corner. Goodbye Rajput!

Graze

Ballyhackamore, Belfast, >100£
03/11/2018: I've been here several times before , and the food has always been good. Last night was terrible. the starter described as sizzling prawns in garlic and chilli looked like something out of the Quatermass Experiment and was a sort of curdled tomato consistency. Into this goop had been dumped some beautifully cooked fresh prawns.
07/10/2018: Went to Graze with a family group of adults, fount the wine and drinks list to be superb.

Bennett's Bistro

Ballyhackamore, Belfast, 20-30£
18/11/2018: Excellent place for all types of visit. Like a French bistro it has all day dining or just a coffee. Food always excellent and the specials board is fantastic and well balanced.
09/11/2018: A few weeks ago I was having coffee with a friend of mine who lives in the East. We went through the usual catch up and as per usual we end up taking about meals we've had and our favourite places to eat.

Mandarin City

Ballyhackamore, Belfast

Little Wing

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
25/10/2018: Nice Fresh Pizza with fresh ingredients - so many places in Ballyhackamore and this would be nicer in my opinion than Pizza Express and also better value for money

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
15/12/2018: This is my favourite place to eat. I have never had a bad meal here and the service is always great. The staff are lovely and the food is great. I have never had dessert because I always have a cocktail. Or six. Seriously, they are so good. The Christmas decorations make it especially cosy. Go. You will not be disappointed. If you are, there is no pleasing you and you need to live by yourself on an island. By yourself.
14/12/2018: Honestly the best food I’ve eaten all year!! Was in last night with a group of 10 for a staff do. We’re all food people so are generally hard to please yet Il Pirata did more than just please. Truly astounded with the food. Flavours, textures and variety-all sublime. Excellent cava and wine accompanied. The staff are at the pinnacle of hospitality excellence. Friendly, timely and knowledgeable team. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

No. 36

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
28/11/2018: Ate here for the first time last week. Broad breakfast menu. Enjoyed the breakfast open sandwich.....thick wheaten bread, ballymahoe relish, bacon, sausage and a egg X2. Very filling. Very tasty. Good coffee. Will return!!
25/11/2018: Ordered of the specials menu a filled soda. What I was presented with was 2 tiny triangles of soda. Left very disappointed. Thankfully there are other eateries on the Belmont Rd. I will be sticking to them from now on.

Greens Pizzeria

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
01/12/2018: Went at 2.45, still did not have our pizza at 4.15 after being told the order had been out in, instead of being honest, well not be back here anytime soon .

Cafe Smart

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
10/12/2018: Great Saturday morning breakfast ,relaxing quiet environment upstairs reading the papers. We both had a cooked breakfast with very good portions and great coffee , all served by efficient pleasant young staff. The prices very competetive.

Hungry Monk

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
14/10/2018: There's just something about their honey chilli chicken meal that's head and shoulders above the rest. Even just thinking about it , i want to eat it again right now!

Spoon Street

Ballyhackamore, Belfast
24/08/2018: Had another great ice cream in Spoon street. 20+ flavours of ice cream to put on yourself with hundreds of different toppings. Not the cheapest ice cream out there but great fun none the less.
07/08/2018: Spoon Street usually has two sorbets which are vegan but they aren't changed as regularly as the froyo. There are good options in the toppings too but they aren't labelled with allergens. Staff are friendly and are always very quick to help.
