The Checkers

Montgomery, Powys
17/11/2018: Went for a light lunch today. We have not enjoyed food as much as we did here for ages. Simple things we take for granted but just perfect in every way. Little wonder given the chefs worked in Bray in a 3 star kitchen for years. We drove a long way and it really was worth it. Kind and attentive staff.
12/10/2018: The welcome, the service and the staff are so friendly and efficient!!

Y Long Room

Tregaron, Ceredigion, >100£
17/11/2018: Look, this is a nice pub and does nice beer but we’ve just paid £24 for two soft drinks two sandwiches and a small bowl of chips. My ham and mustard was two tiny pieces of bread with one slice of ham and some mustard and a few lettuce leaves - I had to buy crisps to bulk it up! See photo. Very poor.
28/10/2018: Had issues with WiFi where we were staying (which we needed for work) so had to make use of the excellent facilities at Ytalbot. Good food, drinks and a warm welcome from staff really helped in an emergency. Thanks and would definitely recommend.

Spencer s Bar & Brasserie

Llandrindod South, Powys
31/08/2018: Had an overnight stay at Llandrindod Wells and decided to have our family meal at the brasserie the staff were pleasant the French onion soup was the nicest that was had in a long time. All the main meals were different and all were delicious we would definitely eat there again very pleasant evening
02/08/2018: Went back to visit Llandrindod Wells in Wales again after few years to see old friends and for my wife to get hair done by her favourite hair-dresser (Lynne of Simply Cuts). The town has not changed. The familiar will never disappoint because it brings many good memories. But the most I was looking forward to was having lunch again at the Metropole Hotel after many years had passed. We really didn't know what to expect but from what we can remember, the best meals were always at the Spencer Bar & Brasserie. And so we stepped in and took our chances even we thought it might be too late for lunch. Luckily it was Royal Welsh show week and lunch service was extended.

Bengal Brasserie

Llanidloes, Powys
28/09/2018: We was going to come in for a meal a few days back but it was empty so we decided we'd have a takeaway instead. We had to wait a long time for the takeaway. It was cold, bland and tasteless. It was more like a aldi 99p curry. The person who took our order was a young girl, who spent most of her time on the HER phone which we found was very rude. She didn't even apologise when the food was late.
24/09/2018: Op een regenachtige woensdagavond gaan eten. Het was rustig in de zaak. Heel vriendelijk geholpen.
