La Anchor Bar & Pizzeria Limited

Whitley, Selby, 20-30£
01/01/2019: Booked a meal for my mum's birthday as we've been here several times. As usual food portions huge and quality was excellent. The owner, chef and waitresses were all really friendly and we will be returning. They also gave mum a lovely dessert to celebrate her birthday. Thank you for making it special
31/12/2018: This Italian restaurant is in the village of Hensall about 3 - 4 miles from exit 34 (Eggborough) of the M62.

Selby South, Selby
24/12/2018: There were four of us and we all enjoyed the food, the friendly atmosphere and the great service. We had charcuterie starters then two of us had the mixed fish special main course. It was excellent - fresh monkfish, sea bass, prawns and scallops beautifully presented and cooked perfectly. One person had venison stroganoff & the other had crab linguine, both of which were equally good. Desserts, wine etc were all great too. We couldn’t fault anything so we’ll
18/12/2018: On arrival we were seated quickly, was given free bread, olives and dips. Ordered quickly and the food was brilliant. Great price for the quality and quantity of food. Will be going back very soon!!

02/01/2019: Just moved into the area and went exploring gastro pubs local to our new place. Found this and zipped in for lunch just now -not dressed up, just in the middle of doing new house things. Welcome was fab and an already stylish interior looked amazing dressed for Christmas. They really made an effort with this!

The Little Coffee House

Selby West, Selby
22/12/2018: Visited for a winter warmer but waited 30 mins for a bowl of soup.Outer door was wedged open and our tea cooled well before arrival of soup, Surprised as have visited before .Mentioned it on paying but staff disinterested. Will go home and open a can of Heinz next time.
20/12/2018: First visit since the new owners took over. New owners were keen to introduce themselves to us and tell us of their plans for a bit of a refurbishment. Little changed from previous visits but will be interested to see the new look premises when the work is done.

The Lemon Tree

Tadcaster East, Selby
08/12/2018: The staff and food was great. Dan the waiter made sure that breakfast was just what was needed. We had the disadvantage of a wheelchair but staff made sure we were accommodated
03/12/2018: Even at 3 o'clock on a cold, damp Sunday afternoon, still managed an excellent Sunday Lunch. Dropped in on the off-chance of lunch, could not have been better, great service, really good meal. Worth getting of the A64 for!

The Three Hares

Appleton Roebuck, Selby, 20-30£
08/12/2018: After 250 miles on the road a lunch break was needed, and a google to Tripadvisor led us to The Three hares just off the A64 near York, a very worthwhile 1m detour..... This is a really cosy pub run by Maureen and her family who made us very welcome and clearly nothing was too much trouble. One of us four has gluten free needs and at times this can be tricky, but not at The Three Hares, they're very well versed on GF needs and made it really easy for great GF meal to be cooked alongside our other main courses. The food really is exceptional, and the family were really a lot of fun and made it a superb lunchtime stop. We need more pubs like this! Can't recommend it too highly, if you're passing, get off the A64 by just a couple of minutes and eat here....
04/12/2018: On a cold winters morning we found ourselves waiting outside for opening time. Once the land lady was aware of us waiting, she welcomed us in and sat us by the warm open log fire.

Cumin Lounge

Monk Fryston and South Milford, Selby, <20£
02/12/2018: Adult family visit for 2 birthdays. Booked in advance as it was a sat evening. Although I booked 4 we were sat at a 4 table and 2 more turned up and they did their very best to cater for us, only a 10/15 min wait and were sat at another table which was great. I can see why this place is popular and we'd travelled from Doncaster on someone's recommendation. Food and drink all reasonably priced. Plenty to choose from on menu, we all had a starter and main and I've visited quite a few indian restaurants across the country and this is up there with the best. The food was gorgeous for all 6 of us. The service was great from all the lads. Looks like they do a good trade in take aways too with good discounts. Only 20 odd minutes drive for us to get here and will definitely be coming back here sooner rather than later.
27/11/2018: is the first thing they always say when I pick up the food. I have three sons to feed and this is always the first choice of take away. That said never eaten in but to be fair don't think I would ever get a table. FOOD IS GREAT ALWAYS... not back for a converted pub in South Milford and 17th place in LEEDS on this date is a true reflection of the establishment. Try this it doesn't dissapoint..

Capri Italian Restaurant

Selby South, Selby
13/12/2018: Met up with sister and husband at Capri for lunch. Very busy with a great atmosphere and the choice of food made it difficult to decide. All four of us made a different choice and all thoroughly enjoyed their meal. A particular thank you for the gluten free chicken a la crème - made her day.
24/11/2018: Lovely little restaurant but on our visit the food was mediocre. The starter of Salumi we were told was enough for two, it wasn't, it was a bit of ham stacked on top of a pile of leaves with four tiny bits of cheese and a bowl of olives - no Italian pickles and no pane carasou as per the menu description, also no explanation as to why they were missing. Calzone was nice, carbonara bland, gloopy and mostly uneaten. Dessert of tiramisu was OK, bottle of wine was nice and the bill reasonable. I've been to this restaurant before and the food was much better, left me wondering if their usual chef had the night off.

Camblesforth, Selby, <20£
24/12/2018: Went last week one evening with a friend. The pub has a real cosy feel to it, the owners give you a very warm welcome.
11/12/2018: Went to The Huntsman to meet friends and to have a meal.

Ye Old Sun Inn

Appleton Roebuck, Selby, 30-45£
02/01/2019: Booked a table at the Sun Inn for Christmas Day Lunch, so very pleased we did! Everything about the meal was excellent, superb food, efficient and attentive service, great choice of wine and a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Even had a gift from Santa! Altogether a very impressive and enjoyable day, looking forward to next Christmas. Well done and thank you all.
28/12/2018: First time visit for my wife and I, when brought here by relatives. Have to say the food was amazing from start to finish.... breadsticks, starters and mains.

Abbey Fisheries

Selby North, Selby, <20£
02/12/2018: Popped in at teatime and wasn’t disappointed. Great staff & lovely food at a reasonable price. I’d recommend this chippy to anyone.

Sunar Bangla

Cawood with Wistow, Selby, <20£
10/11/2018: Fantastic meal, great service, lovely food, cheap. I would definitely recommend and will be back. A really quirky place and one of the best Indians I’ve had.
08/11/2018: An unusual location as a former station ticket. Office but nothing unusual about the food. One if the nices curries I can remember having.

The Rythre Arms

Cawood with Wistow, Selby, 30-45£
08/12/2018: We showed up without a reservation, and although the restaurant was fully booked, the lady manager welcomed us with a smile and found for five people a nice table. Excellent food, service, and decor. We are definitely coming back again.
03/12/2018: We used the online booking form as this meal wasn't a planned meal. Very easy to use, arrived early as we know parking can be challenging at times, greated on arrival and ordered drinks for wife and myself, great selection of beers and largers, amazing choice on the menu, I ordered the steak and ale pie, wife ordered beef wellington, the portions are amazing, cooked to perfection finished with desserts. Must say as a last minute idea it turned out to be an excellent afternoon of food with the staff being very helpful and afficiant. Would recommend this place all day long

Bridge View Tea Room

Selby South, Selby
10/11/2018: We had the afternoon tea. It's like stepping back into the 1930's. Tea in a china cup. Traditional cakes, scones and sandwiches. A really charming experience. You will be well looked after by staff and volunteers
24/10/2018: It's been a few months since I visited the tearooms, so when my best friend came to see me recently I took her to the tearooms for coffee & cake.
