The Aldwark Arms

Tollerton, Hambleton
16/12/2018: Had our annual Christmas meal for the village of Aldwark last night. The service and food was excellent. Our booking was for 62 people and the whole evening was faultless. Would recommend the Aldwark Arms for any and every special occasion. We are so lucky to have such a special pub in our village. Thank you to all the staff who worked last night.
11/12/2018: An absolutely stunning meal and the staff could not have been more polite or helpful. It was my mum's birthday and they did her a wonderful birthday dessert and joined in singing happy birthday to her. The pub itself is stunning and could not be cleaner. Could not recommend this place more!!

Bliss Cafe, Thirsk

Thirsk, Hambleton
12/12/2018: Keep on coming back to this super friendly cafe for coffee, the amazing freshly baked scones or a sandwich at lunchtime. The best thing about this place is the staff. They are so friendly and helpful, greeting you like a friend rather than a customer. They go out of their way to make your visit good which is great!!
11/12/2018: I have visited this place quite a few times over the last year or so since it moved up the road from where it was originally. Service is good, the food served is good and it is clearly used by a very regular clientèle which sort of tells the tale. Dogs are allowed in so long as they are under control and well behaved. I am not bothered by that at all but on more than one occasion I was concerned by the number of 'wet' hounds in the small place. I didn't like the stink so I left. Not been back since but to be fair it is definitely one of the best in town. Certainly in the top three in my book.

The Old Oak Tree

Whitestonecliffe, Hambleton
17/12/2018: We arrived on a Friday afternoon, we didn’t have a booking, and were promptly shown to a lovely table.
17/12/2018: Had a fantastic meal here. The menu was vast and difficult to choose what to have! The meals were lovely and plentiful. We had to share a dessert! The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to be helpful. The prices were very reasonable too. Would definitely return.

The Bruce Arms

Tanfield, Hambleton, <20£
01/01/2019: Fantastic night at the Bruce for New Year’s Eve. 7 course taster menu which was amazing, as a coeliac sometimes these nights can be a nightmare, often you get completely different dish or sometimes no replacement at all. The Bruce did an amazing job every single dish was replicated for my dietary requirements, they probably have no idea how amazing that was.The staff were all superb and very on the ball, nothing was too much. Thankyou all for the best New Year’s Eve in ages
27/12/2018: I organised an evening meal for eleven family members at the Bruce and everything was absolutely first class. Maggie and Dave and all the staff were highly professional but in a relaxed warm manner: the meal was enjoyed by everyone thoroughly and Dave provided sausages, fries and icecream for a 4 year old as well as an extremely varied choice of menu for the adults. It was such a relaxed fun evening of a very high quality. Thank you so much - you made my husband's birthday!

The Curious Table

Easingwold, Hambleton
07/12/2018: Great little cafe in Easingwold, would highly recommend.
26/11/2018: Wow what a great place. We met friends for coffee and cake this weekend and they suggested The Curious Table would be a good place to chat. They were not wrong. This little gem of a place in the small country town of Easingwold is wonderful. The cakes were delicious and the hot chocolates and coffees perfect.

Coppice Cafe

Romanby, Hambleton
03/12/2018: A quick weekend break in the Dales and I just have to visit my favourite cafe. Always a warm welcome from this award winning team. From just a coffee a slice of some of the most excellent tasty home made cake, to full freshly made sandwiches and jacket potatoes, oh and the homemade soup.
02/12/2018: This place is such a treat! We visited today and had high hopes, having seen some of the reviews. It definitely lived up to expectations! The staff were so friendly and helpful - true Yorkshire hospitality. My mum and I shared one of the homemade soups (expecting to just have a spoon each and dig in!)...but the staff were so amazing they actually split the portion and served on separate plates/bowls for us! I fear we’ll never be able to have normal soup again though...we were spoilt with a jug of cream, a healthy portion of Wensleydale cheese and a huge chunk of fresh, warm bread and butter each! My dad’s filter coffee was topped up for free throughout our visit. And the cakes...oh the cakes! Again the staff split our shared portion of homemade Lemon Drizzle cake and gave us each another portion of cream. Better yet, our Spaniel was not only allowed inside with us...but they were also more than happy to provide a water bowl, and cooked up a couple of hotdogs for her (plus gave her lots of fuss!) I believe dogs are only allowed inside during the winter period - but this seems more than reasonable bearing in mind it’s a relatively small, very popular cafe particularly during peak summer season! I can see why this Cafe has won lots of awards - including a People’s Choice one! An absolute must - we’ll be back!

Dog and Gun Knayton

Whitestonecliffe, Hambleton
14/12/2018: This pub is an absolute Gem, the food is always amazing (eaten here numerous times in small and big groups and the food is always 1st class!) everybody is so welcoming and can't do enough for you (being a family of vegetarians we can sometimes be a bit of a pain to cater for but the Dog & Gun always make sure are needs are met). We will certainly be back!! Oh and the build a Burger is out of this world.....I've been veggie for over 25 years and never ever have I had a veggie burger like this...its making my mouth water just thinking about it!
13/12/2018: Having been recommended the dog and gun we thought we would try their Christmas menu, and were very dissapointed the food was over priced and certain from a freeer packet! Meat was dry we got a small portion of vege to shear! But the biggest sting in tale was the drink prices! A bottle of Prosecco that you can purchase from a well known supermarket for £7 they sell for £21

The Kings Arms

Thorntons, Hambleton, >100£
17/12/2018: Without doubt one of the nicest meals we had while we were away on our pre Christmas break! Fabulous and very plentiful meals and extremely well priced, three courses and drinks for just £52! We wouldn’t find that where we live! The staff were lovely and friendly and we were made to feel so welcome and like old friends. Without doubt we will return here when we go back to Thirsk and can thoroughly recommend it.
14/12/2018: Not been here before but it came up trumps. Good food, atmosphere, nice staff, good seating for groups out of the busy main bar area. Service was fast and efficient. All the dishes were presented nicely, portions perfect. The food was good value and would recommend, especially for another work evening meal out.

The Buck Inn

Thorntons, Hambleton, 20-30£
16/12/2018: First of many visits with our daughter who recently moved to the area we called Sunday afternoon the pub was full of families dining we found a quiet corner to sit with our dog who’s not used to dining out unfortunately we hadn’t booked a table but the friendly staff had no problem offering fresh sandwiches to go with our drinks, they soon arrived with a side of hot chips and salad went down very well after a long cold walk.
20/11/2018: First visit as wanted to try somewhere different in the area. Glad we did, a lovely place, proper pub feel to it and very good lunch. Nice pint of Theakstons as well which always helps. Roast beef very tender and I’m told deserts were fantastic by kids and wife.

The White Bear Inn

Stillington, Hambleton
15/12/2018: Went here for the Christmas menu and as always didn’t disappoint. Lovely food lovely place lovely service and very reasonable price. What more can I say. Give it a try you will love it.
02/12/2018: Always eat at The White Bear whenever we are in the area. Good traditional pub grub with plenty of choice. Friendly staff and good prices.

The Dawnay Arms

Shipton, Hambleton
30/12/2018: Popped in without reservation despite being busy they managed to squeeze us in. There is a quite extensive gluten free menu and several items on the main menu can be adapted, I had chicken pie, gravy, chips and veg it was lush! Prices for the meals and drinks very reasonable and everyone we dealt with were great. Can highly recommend.
05/12/2018: Called in on the way home from a shopping trip to York. We are so pleased that we stopped by. I had the most delicious steak and ale pie I think I've ever had. The food was delicious and plentiful. The service was excellent and staff friendly. I would definitely recommend this pub and will call in next time we are passing. Little gem

The Milbank Arms

Tanfield, Hambleton
11/12/2018: Visited for evening meal it was lovely would recommend saving space for the crunchie sundae for dessert it's devine
03/12/2018: Such a friendly warm pub with a great menu . We kept changing our minds as everything sounded so good . We were not disappointed with our choices . The smoked haddock with welsh rarebit was a triumph . Steak was cooked to perfection . Happy friendly staff who could not have been more helpful .

The Royal Oak

Great Ayton, Hambleton
30/12/2018: Went today with my family. 2adults and 2 kids. Thought it was really lovely the food and not badly priced either. Used to go years ago and was a little apprehensive going as changed hands but thought the food was actually better
29/12/2018: Ordered the Turkey dinner, it was beautiful, generous servings of meat and vegetables. The chocolate orange torte was stunning, I would definitely recommend visiting this charming pub.

The Jet Miners Inn

Broughton and Greenhow, Hambleton
12/12/2018: A friend recommended this restaurant, where I had not been for many years. It was very busy, with 4 different groups of various sizes, but we were well looked-after and the food was excellent. Will be going again!
12/12/2018: Visited the Jet Miners as a group of 14 on a busy Saturday lunchtime when there were other large groups dining and nearly every seat was taken. I could not fault it. We received a warm welcome and the service was efficient, very polite and nothing was a problem, with all dietary preferences catered for . The food was very good and hot with generous portions. Despite being very busy the staff came to check we were OK and we were given a warm send off. I like the secret envelope we all received where you are promised a discount or even a free meal if you return in January - which we will

Durham Ox

Stillington, Hambleton
21/11/2018: After reading some good reviews was looking forward to a good experience. We were disappointed , food was average. They have a small selection of ales.
15/11/2018: We were 6 from two families for lunch celebrating an engagement.
