The Cider Barn

Pembridge and Lyonshall with Titley, Herefordshire, County of, 30-45£
19/10/2019: We visited the Cider Barn for a family lunch.
14/10/2019: Friends had celebrated a special birthday by having their food catered by The Cider Barn, but had not had an opportunity to eat there, so we treated them to a Saturday evening meal and were all extremely impressed by the quality of the food and service in a lovely old barn. Scallops and hazelnuts were rated delicious; the other starter was an onion tarte tatin with an inventive blue cheese mousse, also thoroughly enjoyed. Two of us had a generous portion of sirloin and beef cheeks with charred cabbage and outstanding chips, the other two had an excellent hake with samphire and Parmentier potatoes. We were very sad that we had no room for any dessert. There was also a varied and reasonable choice of wines. I just wish we lived nearer!

The Olive Tree

Cheadle West, Staffordshire Moorlands, <20£
20/10/2019: After doing some walking in the area we only needed a light lunch so we popped into the new olive on the off chance and we were found a seat. Glad we did, a lovely restaurant very friendly and the food was delicious beautifully presented. I had a fish finger pannini just because I'd never had one before and it was great. My partner had a jacket potato which was also very good. We both had side salads served with the meals which were a very nice addition. We would definitely go back if we're visiting the area again.
20/10/2019: Excellent foods with fantastic tastes. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Lou goes out of her way to make visitors old and new feel very welcome. Well worth a visit you will not be disappointed (unless you forget to book) Will definitely be returning

Etzio

Whitchurch North, Shropshire
19/10/2019: Managed to get a booking for my wife's Birthday despite having tried and failed previously. Many thanks to Jo for getting us in.I had only ever heard good things about this restaurant and we weren't disappointed.
12/10/2019: So much to choose from, so many menus. We decided to have pasta off the £5 menu, which came with a drink. Amazing pasta, just delicious. We also had buns, freshly made and baked in house. We had dessert to, generous portion, and delicious. We should’ve gone for the two course £9.95 menu, ah well. With the number of menus and dishes, the quality was certainly not affected. It was busy (fully booked), yet we were still accommodated, brilliant, and thank you Wonderful service, decor and atmosphere. Would love to visit again and try even more of the menu.

La Dolce Vita

Quarry and Coton Hill, Shropshire, 30-45£
19/10/2019: Chris and I discovered this wonderful Italian restaurant on our 4 day visit to Shrewsbury and it was so good we went twice. We had the 4 course tasting menu each evening, different on both occasions , every course sensational. This is a family enterprise and in true Italian style they care passionately about the food they serve and the whole customer experience. Gennaro the young chef has real talent and creates wonderful dishes for his customers to savour and enjoy. Thank you Luigi and family for two lovely evenings in your restaurant, it won't be long before we return to Shrewsbury to sample your food again. For those people lucky enough to live in and around Shrewsbury, you have a gem on your doorsteps!
09/10/2019: Every thing was very nice and the staff very attentive but for the price it just wasn’t amazing. The portions were fine for me but my other half still felt hungry after 3 courses.

The Malthouse

Three Elms, Herefordshire, County of
17/10/2019: My partner and I love coming here when in Ledbury. Always good service, the coffee is splendid and the range of cakes and pastries are scrumptious and provide some great choice. Breakfast and lunch options are inviting and taste good. It's our number one destination for coffee, lunch or tea in Ledbury.
09/10/2019: Excellent food, served in hearty portions. The staff are attentive and polite. The outdoor seating area now has the additional benefit of a clear plastic roof, making the quaint courtyard area more comfortable. The indoor area looked equally comfortable, but we didn't personally experience it. Loved the craft gallery upstairs!

Ju Ju's Cafe

Ladywood, Birmingham, 20-30£

19/10/2019: When I come to Shrewsbury for business, I always stop at Casa Naranjo for dinner. I’ve vacationed in Sevilla, Granada, and Marbella Spain and the food here puts me right back there. The tapas are incredible and the Tinto de Verano is exactly as I had it in Spain.
18/10/2019: Called in - wonderful welcome. Shown to a comfortable table drinks order taken and menus presented and explained. NO rush! to order. Choice is excellent and the variety is almost overwhelming .

Viceroy Tandoori

Ladywood, Birmingham, <20£
21/10/2019: Booked a table for a Friday night but waiter said that it was unusually quiet. My wife and I shared a starter of mackerel samosa along with another of chicken livers. My wife went for tandoori jumbo prawn while I went for a seafood bhuna. We accompanied these with chickpeas, cabbage bhaji and sag aloo. I’d never had a cabbage bhaji before and only ordered it as recommended by a fellow dinner. Having had it, I will look out for it elsewhere and would likewise recommend trying it.
18/10/2019: My husband and I visited this restaurant on a recent trip to Birmingham. First impressions... The restaurant is very modern and clean and the staff were very welcoming. There was a good classic selection of dishes on the menu and some I'd never tried before. The food was served quickly and it was delicious and well presented. The wine is very reasonably priced and we'd definitely visit again.

The Red Lion Inn

Llangarron, Herefordshire, County of, <20£
09/10/2019: We had to take our massive dogs to Ross-on-Wye for hydrotherapy treatment and on the way back home decided to ask whether we could bring our dogs in whilst we had lunch. The owners made us very welcome and gave us a large table to accomodate the dogs(under the table !).We both had the steak, stilton and guiness pie.It was delicious, packed with steak and really light pastry. We visited again the following week on the way back from hydro.I had the pulled lamb curry, which, once again, was delicious. My wife had a duck dish, needless to say, delicious. The menu has a lot more things that we would like to try on the way back from hydro(great excuse for a great meal!).All this and they welcome dogs as big as pit ponies.
02/10/2019: Such a friendly welcome, we had the steak, guiness and stilton pie, the pastry was shortcrust and a proper pie with crisp pastry all round, served with lots of interesting veg and extra gravy, It was delicious, perfect.

Royal Oak

Caverswall, Staffordshire Moorlands
20/10/2019: The Royal Oak is clearly popular and they seem to have maximised the cover numbers within this extended village pub. Fine dining it isnt, but, that apart, it does what it sets out to do very well. We experienced some poetic licence with regard to "Steak weight" and with the degree of 'rarity' requested. However, nothing was un-enjoyable and given the price structurte no reason for us to complain. Service was prompt and courteous albeit sometimes 'curt'. Would we visit again?....probably not but dont let that deter you.
15/10/2019: Visited The Royal Oak For a family meal. We had a mixture of food from their extensive menu. All cooked to perfection fantastic quick service. Can’t recommend this place enough. The cheesecakes and homemade chips are a must.
