Etzio

Whitchurch North, Shropshire
18/08/2017: Walked in just as they had finished last orders for lunch (Didn't think to check on opening times) now most places would have turfed us out and not wanted the hassle or the business. But not at Etzio, we were warmly greeted by the waitresses and chefs (who probably wished they'd cleaned and scarpered a bit earlier!) and our needs amply met with the trade mark great service. The owners weren't around so it's a testament to them and their staff that there was no drop in service. As it was lunch I went for the lunch special that was beautifully cooked and came with fresh bread and a small glass of house wine. TRICKED! My wife had a main meal and a large glass of wine, humph! I was paying! And now driving! Both meals were up to Etzios' usual high standard and our gluten free and FODmap diet was well catered for. Having to follow a tricky diet is often like trying to tightrope but at Etzio we are always completely confident in out ordering, long may it continue. We've booked for their Sunday night music and will introduce others to the delight of Etzio, but everyone else, stay away, I want them all to myself!

The Tram Inn

Castle, Herefordshire, County of
21/08/2017: We came for lunch and loved it so much came back a few days later for dinner. Superb from start to finish- very attentive people, dog friendly in the bar and incredibly helpful, happy to substitute items on the menu with other items. The steaks and burgers were delicious and we had a trio of pork with dauphinois potatoes which was mouthwatering delicious. Puddings equally good- can recommend treacle tart and sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend.
20/08/2017: I have visited the Tram several times before ; it is an excellent place to take visitors to the area. Last Thursday we had a warm welcome, and the specials on the board were detailed for us. I chose the vegetable lasagne from the everyday menu. It was probably the most delicious lasagne I have ever enjoyed : full of flavour, utterly gorgeous. I followed this with the lemon posset. This was something I have only read about in old cook books. What an absolute treat. It was just fabulous. Highly recommended!

La Dolce Vita

Quarry and Coton Hill, Shropshire, 30-45£
17/08/2017: We were staying in Shrewsbury for the night and after visiting Sorrento in May wanted to try this restaurant as I love Italian food. We booked a few days before we arrived. When we got into the town centre we got lost and had 5 minutes until our table was booked for. I rang the restaurant and spoke to a lovely lady who guided us to the restaurant. When we got there it was like stepping into a restaurant in Italy. It's beautiful inside and very 'Italian' We ordered cannelloni each with garlic bread. It was lovely and very filling. We received complimentary olives and nuts. I had a glass of red wine which was lovely. The staff was very friendly and the food was beautiful. Would highly recommend this restaurant
17/08/2017: Booked a table for my wife & myself. Had read reviews prior to booking, was very keen to dine here. We arrived at 1830, greeted & welcomed to the restaurant more like family members. We opted for the taster menu, there's no description, more a surprise. Each dish served (6 in total) matched standards from a michelin star restaurant. The restaurant servers approximately 40, definitely book early to avoid disappointment. One minor point, the restaurant feels dated with their interior, more like a cafe, no real reason to dress up , which is a shame when offering an impressive taster menu. Don't let this deter you, overall very impressive restaurant with great staff & food.

Tasca Dali

Warwick West, Warwick, 30-45£
20/08/2017: An amazing discovery right in the heart of Warwick. The staff hosted us well. Food was excellent and authentic, and the wine choices were great. The ambience was cosy. I will definitely return for another round of Spanish delight.
20/08/2017: From first speaking to Alex on the phone I had the sense that Tasca Dali would be something special but it really exceeded all my expectations. Warm hospitality, delicious food and wonderful wines - all round wonderful experience. The quality of the food and wines for the price is awesome.

The Moody Cow

Old Gore, Herefordshire, County of, >100£
22/08/2017: Yes, it is true...gourmet vegetarian food. This was the best vegetarian meal I have eaten out in a very long time. Usually the vegetarian option seems like an after thought - I am so fed up with pasta or risotto!! The curry at the Moody Cow was an explosion of flavour - butternut squash, wild mushrooms and other vegetables seated on a lentil base, individual flavours not over-run by the curry spices...... simply delicious. We ate here on a Saturday night and thought about returning Monday only to find they are not open on a Monday or Tuesday. My partner who is not a vegetarian had the fillet of Herefordshire beef that was tender and cooked to perfection. Chris and Dawn were affable hosts and it was clear this place takes great pride in every detail. The Moody Cow was a chance find on an internet search which turned out to be a lucky find indeed.
20/08/2017: Although we live, for most of the year, in Cyprus we always come home for the summer?? We have a property in Birmingham and my brother lives in South Wales. So when we get together for a sunday lunch its easier to meet half way, so that means somewhere near Ross on Wye. This year we went to the Moody Cow in Upton Bishop. What a find! From the moment we entered the place we knew we were in for a treat. The welcome from the owners was just fantastic, so friendly and informative about their busines, their food and the place was full (good sign). When my brother finally turned up we were shown to our table in the barn type dining room and the delight began. The home made caulifower soup was splendid with just a hint of spice, the roast beef was cooked to perfection and the accompanying vegetables were different and delicious. After that I couldn't resist a dessert; so a gorgeous lemon torte followed. What a delightful meal and the rest of the party agreed. The serving staff were extremely attentive and nothing but nothing seemed too much trouble. As another reviewer commented, the owners were very friendly and seemed to make a point of saying hello to all tables and customers at the bar. This was such a nice touch and goes a long way, in our view, if you want people to return .The atmosphere was perfect, in fact all British pubs should be like this. Well done team. We shall return.

Pundits Fusion

Upton and Hanley, Malvern Hills, 30-45£
22/08/2017: This tiny restaurant produces the most delicious food I have ever eaten and offers exemplary service. I am vegetarian but my partner is not - we both had plenty of choice. Want a bit more garlic, a little less chilli - no problem for Adnan - want a salt lassi (not on the menu) easy we will just make you one. Sultan is a gracious host and nothing is too much trouble - he made us feel like family. The food is made to order and the flavours are complex and multi layered, simply a dining delight. We ate early and had not booked but if you really want to eat at this bijou restaurant, book your table in advance.
21/08/2017: The title says it all - staff very welcoming, efficient and helpful. Food an absolute delight. Locals friendly too. Place was packed on a Sunday night and no wonder with food so good! Can't recommend enough.

La Petite Gare

Greenhill, Wyre Forest
21/08/2017: I only popped in as I missed my train and had half an hour to kill – and I'm so glad I did. Their flat white was perfect – in contrast to one of the comments below, I get really grumpy if my coffee isn't piping hot! (Which just goes to prove you can't please all of the people all of the time...) However, the woman who served us was so lovely that I'm sure if you're particular about your coffee she'd do her best to meet your requirements.I did plan to go back for lunch on the Saturday – there's a great choice of veggie and vegan food and everything on the menu looked delicious – but disappointingly it was closed. (Although I think it's normally open at weekends.) It'll definitely be my first choice next time I'm in the area though.
19/08/2017: I stopped here for a quick lunch in between working, very quick service, fabulous soup and cheese on toast! Love the quirky cafe, small and personal, there's a downstairs place to eat, but not tried this.....very friendly staff, good value for money

The Green Cafe

Ludlow North, Shropshire
17/08/2017: Unfortunately, we were unable to verify the reviews. Despite there being two tables available - one for 3 and one for 6 people, the couple in front of us were shown to the table for 6. We were told there was not enough room for 4 (our party) although there quite clearly was. I had the feeling that they were regulars!! We didn't stay thanks to their rude manner.
14/08/2017: My family and I holiday in this area every year, we think this is fifth year in a row we have come here for lunch, a much looked forward to family tradition! This year three of us had the beef brisket in a roll and my daughter (age 11) had pasta with a tomato sauce. I have a sneaking suspicion we had the same thing last year, and the year before, but why change if the dish is so utterly gorgeous. Portions exactly the right size, left just enough room for pudding. Husband and I shared the British cheeseboard, daughter had a chocolate brownie and son had chocolate boca negra. Sighs of delight all round. Perfect cooking, fabulous staff, just wish they would open a branch in Sevenoaks!See you again next summer!!

Pascal at the Old Vicarage

Branston, East Staffordshire, 20-30£
17/08/2017: I was treated to a Birthday Lunch here by a friend. And it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The building was impressive both inside and out; the rooms were large and airy; the staff polite and attentive; and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. We had two courses - mains and desserts - I had the Salmon and my friend the roast chicken, and for dessert we both had the Bread and Butter Pudding - exquisite! As it was a bright, sunny day we decided to have our coffee in splendid garden - a haven of tranquillity; very relaxing. I would recommend Pascal's without hesitation, and I will visit again on special occasions.
16/08/2017: Wonderful food, wonderful staff, excellent ambience. Always love to eat here.Of course we will be returning!Thank you.

Royal Watan

Selly Oak, Birmingham
19/08/2017: My family and I have been coming to the Royal Watan for many years (23 years to be exact). The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food is always of the best quality. Even in the busiest periods the service and standard of food is outstanding. Would definately recommend.
19/08/2017: Booked to go on Saturday after our Anniversary trip to see Miss Saigon at the Birmingham Hippodrome. We arrived a little later than anticipated and the place was absolutely rammed with people that had been to watch the Day/Night cricket at Edgbaston. We had to wait a little while for our table and Imran kept apologising as if it was his fault we were late, this man is a true gent. When we sat down we were immediately greeted with poppadums and literally minutes later had our starter. What amazes me about this place is that no matter how busy it is the food is always top notch, hot and delicious.I have been coming here since it was open and always have the same dish, the popular Chicken Tikka Massala, now don't associate this with the creamy curry most places serve this is made with fresh tomatoes and then all herbs and spices with massive pieces of chicken breast. Simply delicious. If you're ever in Birmingham for whatever reason, make this place a place to go.Imran and team, I take my hat off to you all.

Casa Naranjo

Quarry and Coton Hill, Shropshire, 20-30£
18/08/2017: Sought this place out for lunch following a visit to trip advisor. So we travelled with high expectation and I am pleased to say that the whole family including the picky eaters were delighted. Great authentic food served at a pace that suited, by enthusiastic staff who just seemed to sense what we wanted and when. One of the most interesting and tasty meals we have had, not cheap, but exceptional value and qualityToilets need some work but that kind of made it more authentic
09/08/2017: We've been here a couple of times now. The welcome, service and food are all pretty authentic to what you'd get in a great Spanish tapas bar or restaurant. Would recommend- the food was delicious and the wine was superb. The staff are themselves Spanish, very attentive, polite and pleasant. The only thing which let it down slightly was the dessert, hence the four.

16/08/2017: Just a perfect place to celebrate birthday. 25 members of my family went here for my mums 90 birthday, November 2016. It was wonderful we went for Sunday lunch. The care that they showed was wonderful, they decorated our table, and made such a fuss of mum she loved it. The meal, Sunday lunch, was fantastic, we weren't rushed at all.... and the bill? Well for 25 with drinks and wine it was a really pleasant surprise. I really hope his restaurant goes from strength to strength they really deserve success. It was like being served by friends. Thank you Baby Russetts x

21/08/2017: If you want a great meal in Ross-on-Wye - this is your restaurant. We were visiting here to see friends who live here - so they took us to their favourite restaurant - and I know why it is so.We were 30 minutes late - no problem. Sat down and had drinks within no time - also the ability to order with no pressure. We took our time - no problem.Orders taken - more drinks - table water - everything perfect.Food quickly delivered and asked if everything ok - do we need anything?Delicious.Coffee and Sweets - also excellent. If every restaurant was run like this you wouldn't need Trip Advisor to help you make a decision - you could just go to the nearest restaurant.5 stars!

Smokehouse Deli and Cicchetti Bar

Ludlow North, Shropshire
21/08/2017: This is a tremendous, funky little cafe restaurant. It opens early for breakfast and boy, is it good! We went 2 days in a row. It has a classic Italian vibe - Vespa Ferrari and Alfa signage, Chianti bottles, Italian produce lining the shelves. But the food is influenced from all over - mainly the Mediterranean - you'll find such delights as smoked haddock kedgeree or smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, along with tomato bruschetta, avocado on toast, Turkish eggs, Spanish black pudding thingies etc etc. Staff are lovely. Coffee is good. Didn't try the canolies but they looked damn good. A fantastic alternative to the same old, same old Full English. And I bet the lunch and dinner menus are just as good. Excellent place people.
19/08/2017: Chanced upon this place whilst strolling through Ludlow. A really lovely place. Small but perfectly formed! I had the smashed avacado on ciabatta with confit tomatoes. Very good. Hubby had mixed plate of olives breads and Italian meats, all delicious. It's an unpretentious little place, with tons of character. Will return.

Viceroy Tandoori

Ladywood, Birmingham, <20£
20/08/2017: A bit out of the way from where we were staying, so our walk worked up our appetite. However, the menu was so interesting that we had difficulty choosing and restraining ourselves to not over order.Great service, with friendly advice on selections to suit our tastes. The food was all beautifully spiced, and well presented, with great portion sizes. So full, that a taxi was the only way back. This is a place not to be missed, if you are looking for this cuisine in Birmingham.I hope to be back sometime too.
19/08/2017: I walked for quite a long distance to try this place so luckily it was worth it. Although I wouldn't call the food ground breaking, what I had was about as tasty as I've experienced. The restaurant itself had a nice airy quality too it and the staff were very attentive.
