Finley Brown's Cafe

Teignmouth East, Teignbridge
25/06/2020: Had a beautiful birthday cake made there for my daughters 40 birthday. It was absolutely amazing would recommend anyone the cake was so moist. Staff so very helpful.
15/03/2020: Can not fault the customer service here. Best hit chocolate and cake around - I drive from Exeter just to come to Finley Brown’s. A gentleman on the other table had a fresh egg brought out because the team weren’t happy with how the cooked the egg they had given him, lovely surprise for the gentleman and just shows how much the staff care about their customers

The Gateway Tearooms

Moorland, Teignbridge
19/04/2020: Indian dishes. The best takeaway I've ever had. Sensational. Lots of different dishes. All great. Very neatly presented.
17/11/2019: On our way to a birthday party we arrived in Morton Hampstead to let the dog stretch his paws & kill a bit of time before we arrived at our event. It was a cold wet day so we looked for refuge in a cafe. We stepped inside this delightful little cafe with real linen tablecloths & china crockery. We sadly only had tea & coffee as we were due to have a sit down meal at the party. The cakes & food that the other people were eating looked really nice so if we are ever back down that way we would want to drop in. The cafe is dog friendly & provided a bowl of water for our dog. Need to check as think may close for a bit over winter as think the lovely friendly people who run it need to have a bit of a break.

Mr Biscuits

Bushell, Teignbridge
08/06/2020: took my niece the food was ok but too many noisy children would come again when its less busy maybe the summer time or school holidays
01/03/2020: Heard great things about Mr Biscuits so thought I would go for a Saturday lunch with hubby and our 5yr old and 11 month old. From the outside it didn't look anything special but never judge a book by its cover. Very cool retro gaming theme inside (hubby was definitely amazed by this) and the little play area was great for the young ones. 5yr old had the kids packed lunch, great fresh cheese sandwich which was happily gobbled up (even the crusts). We had the full English breakfast which was perfect, couldn't fault one thing about it and definitely the right sized portion. Staff are very warm, welcoming and friendly, has a real family feel. Will definitely be returning, especially for the lovely brownies.

The Seven Stars

Kenn Valley, Teignbridge, <20£
12/02/2020: My wife and I visited with two friends who had been before and suggested that we wouldn't be disappointed - we weren't. It is a pub restaurant which is a lot bigger than it appears from the street. There is a good sized bar, so even though they are known for their good food, locals/customers can still pop in for a drink at the bar which is a little way from the tables and doesn't 'interfere ' with those just having a meal. As we were eating our drinks orders were taken and served at the table. The premises are comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome with nothing being too much trouble. The menu is in my opinion reasonably priced and although not extensive, should have something for all tastes. The meals utilised local produce and were all really well cooked and delicious. We will all definitely be returning to sample alternative options. There is no car park only on street parking which wasn't a problem and all available spaces are in any event close to the premises. I would assume that if you are wanting to go for a meal on a Friday night, Saturday or Sunday it would be advisable to phone ahead and book. Enjoy.
08/02/2020: Amazing food. Lovely quaint little pub. Had several meals there now, including a Sunday roast, and it never disappoints. Always incredible!

The Union Inn

Moorland, Teignbridge
16/02/2020: We are regular mid week customers of The Union Inn. We love it here. We were told that the Sunday carvery was really good. So our friends and us thought let's give it a go. Well it was better than good it was fantastic. We all agreed the best carvery around. The meat was amazing and loads of vegetables all cooked perfectly. It was very busy so I'd advise booking. We will be going once a month from now on.
13/02/2020: We visited the Union Inn for the first time last year and have returned on several occasions since. The food is great quality. There is a warm welcome in a traditional rural pub setting. Great finish to a day on Dartmoor.

Trade Winds

Teignmouth East, Teignbridge
28/06/2020: My first time and had a takeaway due to circumstances in place now and I just have to say that it was absolutely delicious. Had Garlic Mushroom as a starter... large portions and so tasty. Main course had Tender Pork Belly ribs without the bone which was out of this world. Also had Lamb Shank Kleftiko which was amazing with side dishes. The taste buds went into overdrive. Plenty to eat and so many more to try another time. I think next time I will find it difficult to make a choice as so many to chose from but I will just have to work my way through the menu. Thank you Dave Jade for the recommendation.
08/06/2020: We got a take out due to the lockdown. It was very easy to order by phone and get a collection slot. It was all set up for socially distant collection when we arrived, and the staff were wearing full PPE which was re-assuring. The food was absolutely superb, clearly all freshly cooked and the portion sizes were massive. We found a lovely spot on the seafront nearby to sit and eat it. All in all it was a lovely treat - thank you for staying open!

The Lamb Inn

Teignbridge North, Teignbridge
03/05/2020: Had a chicken dinner it was very nice be back when all this out the way stay safe people see you all at the lamb soon Dave and Bev
22/03/2020: The current climate meant that we had to cancel our reservation here for Mother’s Day. They called to cancel but said they were doing takeaway. We decided to do this and I have to say the roast was amazing! It was still hot when we got it home and the meat was lovely! Even though it was “takeaway” the care taken to cook this roast was apparent and we all cleaned our plates. At times like these we need to support our local businesses but this is one business that deserves trying out just for their takeaway roast. Thank you :)

London Inn

Shaldon and Stokeinteignhead, Teignbridge
14/03/2020: Four of us had lunch here one quiet Saturday afternoon. The pub is in a great location and I have often enjoyed a drink in the bar. It has an outside area overlooking the quaint village green and inside is very clean and pleasant. Both of the young ladies behind the bar who have served me are always friendly and smiling. After a drink in the bar, we went into the restaurant side of the pub and we were seated at a delightful window table. We were surprised to find that there appeared to be no starters on the lunch menu, except for soup. Two of us decided to have the “Kate & Sidney” (aka Steak and Kidney Pudding). We both agreed that the pudding was absolutely wonderful – the suet was cooked to perfection (not soggy) and the contents were succulent, with suitably thick gravy inside the pie. A nice surprise was that the top of the pudding had what we think were silver-skinned onions, adding a savoury sweetness. Because of this, the accompanying red cabbage was unnecessary – it added extra sweetness and there was a side dish of vegetables included with the meal anyway. My wife had duck in a crispy pancake. The main part of the meal was excellent but the sauce was a little too sweet. Our other friend had squid, which she really enjoyed. For dessert, she had a Chocolate Bombe, which she raved about. My wife had a chocolate brownie which was nice but slightly overcooked. The other two of us, not being of a sweet nature (in any way), wondered if the kitchen could rustle up some cheese and biscuits. We were told they could not. Surely a slice of cheddar and a few Jacob’s biscuits could be obtained from the shop across the road, especially if the mark-up was right? We decided to just have a couple of glasses of port instead.I will still visit again and a good time was had by all.
09/03/2020: We like to thank everyone at the London Inn we came down from Bristol for my husband 60th birthday Great food and a great time thank you

Rugglestone Inn

Moorland, Teignbridge, <20£
27/03/2020: We decided to order from the new takeaway menu this place has started offering. We’ve used this place many times before and don’t get me wrong, it has always been adequate but it has now hit new heights. We were welcomed by an affable chap called Richard who sported a lovely pair of blue latex gloves and a face mask. This evoked memories of my regular and eagerly anticipated visits to the proctologist. His bedtime manner left nothing wanting. He was eager to impress and I believe he is a very accomplished member of the Widecombe tennis ladder league (although sadly it appears this has been postponed until 2022)The new regime has certainly helped the ambiance of the place as it now has the feel of a very exclusive venue. There are certainly no crowds here, it is almost a salon privee with your latex gloved host at your beck and call. They can even meet you in the car park and handover the gear there.Nothing was too much trouble and even the Lady in the kitchen shouted at Richard in a very polite way while she watched reruns of Cash in the Attic.Would recommend to those self-isolating and wishing for a slightly above adequate experience.
24/02/2020: We visited on Sunday following the Hameldown Hammer race, lovely warming food for the runners and a fantastic selection of Ale and ciders as a winter warmer. Will be returning in the summer!!

27/02/2020: Good coffee, food and service. Best garlic mushrooms anywhere. Unusual combinations in the menu, such as croissant with poached egg, bacon and avacado.

Crab Shack on the beach

Teignmouth East, Teignbridge
19/03/2020: Was very dubious about going to the crabshack as last couple of meals were disappointing but I'm so glad we did. It was my birthday we hadn't booked anywhere so I decided to ring to see if they had a table. Luckily they did so we decided to give it one last chance. On entering the atmosphere seemed different with Billy and Maddie showing us to our table and getting our drinks order. There was none of the 'oh we need the table back in 2 hrs' rubbish before we had even sat down. Anyway after my complimentary glass of champagne our food came out and I can honestly say it was superb. One of the best birthday meals I had ever had. There was a little confusion over orders ( which was my fault as I changed my mind) but there was no hassle or bother and it was dealt with by smiling happy staff ( which made a change since our last visit) and it was just a pleasure to eat there. I had the seafood platter off the specials and although being a bit pricey it was amazing. Langoustine, crevettes, tiger prawns, scallops, crab claws, shell on prawns and much more. My wife had the usual bucket of crab claws and the whole meal was just amazing. Thanks crabshack for making it my best birthday meals ever. Can't wait to go back when we're next on holiday.
15/03/2020: Had a lovely birthday meal here for my husband on a quiet Sunday evening. The mussels were excellent in a delicious broth. Staff and service welcoming and attentive. Far better value than Rockfish in Torquay
