Wescott, Wokingham
25/10/2018: I went into this cafe for the first time today and was very pleasantly surprised, I had beauful jacket potato with chilli and salad and a cup of decaf tea (surprised they had this- most cafes don't). I can't recommend this enough, very good value, pleasant surroundings and very helpful staff THANKYOU x
30/08/2018: Come here for the really great brie and onion panini. And in the heatwave we had this summer we took advantage of their seating area of 3 tables outside in the little courtyard area to the left of the shop which we didn't know they had!

The Bull at Barkham

Barkham, Wokingham, <20£
06/11/2018: Had a lovely dinner here. Good is always fantastic. The menu has changed since the summer and seems bigger, not sure it’s for the best but will visit again and see. Short staffed on our visit but hopefully more staff will be found.
05/11/2018: Really interesting place, I’ve been a few times now and am always in 2 minds about it but always come back because the food is that good. This is very much a pub that does food and as you walk in it has the feel of an old pub lounge. The decor is dated and always plenty of people stood by the bar. The staff here are always friendly but often slow or I attentive giving the impression they are very young or new. However all that said, the food is excellent. They offer traditional pub grub as well as a Thai/oriental menu which is what keeps us coming back.

Oslar Coffee

Wescott, Wokingham
20/10/2018: Called in today after reading great reviews and to avoid the chains.
17/10/2018: Warm welcome and friendly service. Knowledge of coffees was excellent and staff were prepared to help me select coffee that would suit me. Delicious granola traybake. Great to be able to support a local, independent coffee shop.

Shinfield South, Wokingham, >100£
11/11/2018: We visited L’ortolan for our 10 year anniversary and it did not disappoint. The food, the cocktails and the service were all amazing as expected. It is pricey but it has a Michelin star so you wouldn’t expect any different. Definitely worth it for special occasions. If we could afford to visit regularly we definitely would (especially as I live in walking distance!)!
07/11/2018: Excellent food and service and could not complain about the size of the bill for the quality provided.

Shinfield South, Wokingham, 30-45£
26/10/2018: Once again the food and service was first class at Zest. The presentation could not be faulted and the dishes were delicious. Looking forward to our next visit already!
22/10/2018: My husband and I have visited twice now and on both occasions have been made to feel unwelcome. We thought maybe the first time was a one off so gave it another a go. However, when we walked in the second time the barman almost looked disappointed there were customers and he just wanted to go home. It was 2.5 hours before it was closing, the barman asked what we wanted to drink and I suggested a bottle of wine to my husband, to which the barman said by the way we are closing early tonight, I asked what time and he said in half hour. We then ordered a small glass of wine and beer as we got the impression he wanted us to hurry up. We then drank them quickly as we felt like we were being watched to leave so he could go home. Not the relaxing Friday evening drink we were expecting. In addition you are paying premium prices over £12 for 2 drinks, so you would expect better customer service. It’s a shame as we live on Green Park and would like to have visited here more often but we have been put off now.

The Ship Inn

Wescott, Wokingham
02/10/2018: Still one of the best pubs in Wokingham. Pleasant staff and well looked after decor and garden. The beer range could change more often and keg guests could be more adventurous, I have seen this in other Fullers pubs. The Ship isn't the cheapest pub in Wokingham but it is one of the most consistent, this also applies to the food.
18/09/2018: Been here a few times now (not through choice) and feel compelled to add review. Drinks well over priced for the area (£5.40 for pint of Peroni) and even the bar staff were apologetic. If unfortunate to go in when there is a football match on, you will be subjected to it in every facet of the "pub" (including the garden) at a volume that makes normal conversation nigh on impossible, whilst plastic supporters do their pathetic best to out whoop each other whenever they look up from their mobile phones during the game. Not there on my most recent visit, so hopefully changed, but landlord rude and ignorant as well on previous ones. Don't give two hoots about the food. If I wanted to eat, I'd go to a restaurant or if they were available, which they're not, I'd buy a bag of nuts. Nice historic building so shame this is now such an abhorrence and antipathy of the traditional inn. Money is king and it's always busy but not for me thanks. Plenty of other far nicer establishments in the vicinity

The Good Companions

Loddon, Wokingham
30/09/2018: Went here today to watch the Ryder cup and decided to have lunch. Both hubby and I ordered the roast beef. The lunch was excellent. Massive portion of beautifully cooked beef accompanied by mash toasties, 4 different vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and stuffing ball. The only thing I didn't like was the stuffing ball as it was grainy and too herby, but then again I experience this everywhere I go as regards stuffing balls. The food was piping hot and delicious. We were absolutely stuffed! The pub was heaving as there was an 80th birthday party in, but service was still swift and friendly. This is a great friendly local pub with great food and where everyone talks to everyone. A gem in Woodley.
10/09/2018: We have been to this pub / restaurant before but stopped when they changed the menu, luckily they have now changed it again! We have never been when they are showing football but, as they advertise drink "specials" for these nights I imagine it is far from peaceful, so choose the day and time to meet you preferences! The pub was busy but we found a table easily and the menu selection was huge, something to suit any taste.

Cozze Ristorante

Bulmershe and Whitegates, Wokingham
07/11/2018: Food was great! Had a few fussy eaters and even they were surprised at how much they liked the food!
07/11/2018: Lovely lively restaurent . Clan and friendly. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Very good quality food plenty of choice and tasty.

Bull & Chequers

Coronation, Wokingham, <20£
12/11/2018: Decided to walk there for lunch one Sunday as we were too busy to cook. Sunday lunch was average at best and although the place was very busy the atmosphere wasn't great s the football was on in all rooms. Not likely to go back to eat there, although inexpensive, you get way you pay for.
26/10/2018: Having forgotten to get anything out of the freezer for dinner and really not wanting to visit a supermarket, I suggested a meal at the pub. Everyone agreed it was a good idea and none of us were disappointed.

Wescott, Wokingham, 20-30£
03/11/2018: First time here, as a group of five. Lovely atmosphere, staff friendly, food really good. We had pasta with prawns, chicken in white wine sauce and a couple of steaks. All enjoyed the meal.
01/11/2018: Amazing customer service, fantastic proper Italian food. I hope people continue to eat here to support the local independent business instead of the big food chains. I have even asked in the past for Italian cakes to be made for dinner parties which are always amazing and so accommodating. I won’t go anywhere else!

Jackson's California Lake

Finchampstead South, Wokingham
11/11/2018: Quality cafe, with quality food that is cooked on site from premium ingredients.
07/11/2018: I recommend, to walk around and see the ducks and swans, great place to see wildlife Come on yout own or with a friend, just wander around Alan

Piccolo Arco

Wescott, Wokingham
04/11/2018: Was in a party of 6 last night that really enjoyed our dinner here last . Authentic Italian - we had varied dishes - Lasagne, Steak, risotto and Veal - all cooked and served to perfection - Wine was also tip top ( Primitivo ) at a good price . Finally a special thanks to the owner who took time to come over and chat about Italy / Food / Football- seemed a very nice guy - will deffo return .
01/11/2018: I have dined at Piccolo Arco many times and will always return for the excellent food, service and friendly waiting staff. If you're looking for wonderful authentic Italian food then you could do no better than to come here.

The Black Boy

Shinfield North, Wokingham
11/11/2018: As a family we ate here yesterday, for the second time. The first was in the summer and the atmosphere outside was great, along with the food and service. Yesterday was just as good. All 5 of us had completely different starters, main meals and desserts and we were all pleased, and full! The service is pleasant and friendly too. We will definitely be visiting again when visiting my son at uni.
10/11/2018: My husband and I have been going to the Black Boy more or less regularly for about a year. Food has always been excellent and staff helpful and attentive. They are open to special requests like space for a pram. They are very family oriented. My husband also tells me ale is good. Today we had James and Charlotte taking care of us and they were lovely.

Wescott, Wokingham
11/11/2018: Very good menu choices good and resonably priced enjoyed the wine will come back with my wife thanks
10/11/2018: Poor and slow service, nice quality food by drinks way overpriced ad service already included in bill, would not have paid 10% for the service if not already included.

Wescott, Wokingham
06/11/2018: Five of us did the usual Anglo-Indian routine of ordering a selection of dishes and having a free-for-all. The staff were attentive and didn't push us to order too much food or more wine than we wanted.
03/11/2018: We regularly eat at this restaurant for an all round good experience. The food is delicious and well presented, great value for money, and the staff are so welcoming. The restaurant caters for all size groups or couples. Great atmosphere.
