Cafe Meon

Wickham, Winchester, <20£
21/06/2018: Thank you for an amazing culinary experience, we were high on expectation after reading some of the reviews, and I am glad to say,our expectations we're exceeded. So hard to find an establishment who take such care to balance texture and taste.every part of the visit was 10/10.
18/06/2018: All I can say is it's the best vegan food I've had in a while, not much room so book in advance, go for the kfc chips, cakes were ok too. Quirky venue

Kyoto Kitchen

St Bartholomew, Winchester, 45-60£
18/06/2018: Always delicious, always reliably fresh and beautifully presented. Our preferred option is to ask the owner to choose for us!
10/06/2018: We were only in Winchester for three days but we ate here twice so that should tell you we liked the food a lot! We had a takeaway the first night as we were tired and not very hungry and the fried squid and another...

Clos du Marquis

Wonston and Micheldever, Winchester
03/06/2018: I was taken as a surpise by dear friends. Never been before. From the moment I walked through the door I was in love. Delicious champagne and amuse bouche to start. Then time to make the incredibly difficult decision of what to eat. From beginning to end the service, the food, the atmosphere, the wine, the cheese, the everything was sublime. My only complaint was that the evening did not go on long enough. Thank you Garth, your lovely waitress and your awesome chef. Trust Garth to make your wine choices - he really knows what he is doing and was sweet enough to make me think I knew a little bit too! Fabulous, glorious meal and evening. Thank you.
29/05/2018: As we left the taxi, the proprietor opened the door for me and greeted me in French with a soft South African accent. We were offered appetitive, of course Champagne before we were shown to our table. The tables were comfortable separated from each other, so you didn't feel on top of other dinners.

The Barleycorn Inn

Bishops Waltham, Winchester
02/06/2018: We visited on a sunny Saturday lunchtime and were really impressed with the staff, the garden and the standard of the food. A lovely meal out together.
26/05/2018: On a sunny Saturday in May we visited Bishop's Waltham for the first time.....having had a very pleasant time wandering around the town we wanted a pub lunch. This was the third place we served no food (really? In this day and age?) and one had a somewhat "over the top" menu for a pub lunch.

Forte Kitchen

St Bartholomew, Winchester, <20£
19/06/2018: Took my grown up kids there at the weekend, having been recommended to go - it is great. Food and service are very good.
17/06/2018: If you want a casual place for a bite, this is a great place. You have to walk a flight of stairs to get there, but otherwise it is a quaint and warm cafe style restaurant. Sandwiches are good. Definitely casual dining.

Gurkha's Inn

St Bartholomew, Winchester
21/06/2018: Nice place, friendly and professional service and one of the best curry I’ve ever had in the UK. Definetly worth a visit!
01/06/2018: In the same way that Indian restaurants aren't (mostly) quite Indian. That is they need to cater to their customers, in this case mostly white, English so food is adapted to suit.

The Bugle Inn

Colden Common and Twyford, Winchester
21/06/2018: I was taken here by my family to celebrate my 80th The service & food were very good as is the venue which is situated in an attractive village. My only criticism was the cost of the meal but that seems to be the norm...
21/06/2018: We've eaten here on numerous occasions and always found the food and service excellent. Lovely venue whether visiting in the summer to sit outside or cosy inside for the winter. Has a great menu that caters for all, a little on the high price but...

Tom's Deli

St Bartholomew, Winchester, >100£
16/06/2018: Tom and his Italian team offer a true Italian experience in Winchester. Excellent daily specials, fantastic pizza's and friendly helpful staff. Recommend booking a table.
10/06/2018: Sat outside in the sunshine to eat our Italian lunch and vey nice it was too. Tasty pizza for my other half, garlic prawns and a large salad for me. Delicious food, freshly prepared and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend you try this place...

The Bakers Arms

Droxford, Soberton and Hambledon, Winchester
12/06/2018: I’m probably not saying what loads of others haven’t already said but.... this pub is fantastic! Great food, friendly staff and all in a lovely old fashioned pub. None of these pubs that are trying to look old that now all look the same (grey brick walls, cream wooden panelling) you know the ones! We will go back again and again!
04/06/2018: nice food my burger was very good nothing to complain about for any of us. Was surprised that the specials board was not written till after we had ordered and the flowers on our table should have been replaced others looked ok

The Shoe Inn

Upper Meon Valley, Winchester
20/06/2018: Make sure you book a table in advance (at least the day before!)
20/06/2018: I was struggling to find a restaurant nearby that was attractive enough for a special meal, had an appealing menu without ridiculous prices and had overall good reviews. Discovered The Shoe Inn on Tripadvisor, seemed to tick all the boxes so phoned and booked a table. We arrived a bit early but still got seated without any fuss, we had a nice table tucked away from the bar and were served drinks and food swiftly by friendly staff. Food was very tasty and piping hot. I didnt stop to think about taking a picture but the starter was one of the best I have had, freshly cooked black pudding with an egg on top, delicious!

Pulpo Negro

The Alresfords, Winchester
18/06/2018: Quite simply the best tapas we’ve ever had. Great service, atmosphere - everything just brilliant - love it, love it!!!
17/06/2018: Visited on a Saturday lunch time to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a lovely meal. This was my first visit, but I would definitely go again. Service was friendly and efficient, and food delicious. Quite pricey but they clearly use quality ingredients. Menu is in Spanish so had to ask the waitress about a few dishes, so only improvement I would have liked would have been a brief description in English under each dish.

Chesil Rectory

St John and All Saints, Winchester
19/06/2018: we were 2 couples visiting Winchester and booked this for a Saturday night. the food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and very good portion sizes. we were undecided on wine as we weren't familiar with some of them. we asked for advice and the bar man/manager gave us tasters of different wines to help us choose. he couldn't be more helpful. we have eaten in quite a few Michelin star restaurants and this restaurant could definitely compete. cant wait to come back
12/06/2018: We stumbled upon Chesil Rectory when looking for a place to have lunch. The location and interesting architecture drew our interest. The history and character of the place is very charming. The food was very good and we enjoyed our visit very much. Would recommend to anyone.

Tichborne Arms

Cheriton and Bishops Sutton, Winchester, >100£
19/06/2018: Pubs as good as this are getting harder to find, nestled comfortably in the lovely village of Tichborne, the Tichborne arms is as charming inside as it is outside. They offer a really good range of well kept ales and a nice varied menu that is neither too pricey or too pretentious. Our food was excellent, but beware of the puddings as the portion size is massive, if you find yourself struggling there are a couple of very willing helpers with waggy tails only too pleased to be your friend.
01/06/2018: “What a Gem, located in lovely chocolate box countryside.

St John and All Saints, Winchester
17/06/2018: Great friendly welcome fantastic hosts this pub is very well run. We had great service and very tasty well presented food. Would recommend and will visit again for sure . Thanks
11/06/2018: We arrived to find that our booking had been incorrectly recorded - quickly remedied and we were led to a delightful table in the conservatory. We were a party of four, one diner in a wheelchair, and one small dog.

Lilly's Tea And Coffee House

Wickham, Winchester
20/06/2018: Popped in here for lunch on Saturday as wandering round the shops.
20/05/2018: Excellent service, lovely food. We sat on the little terrace, in the sunshine, and watched the world go by. Lovely place to visit!
