Wild Thyme Restaurant and Rooms

Chipping Norton, West Oxfordshire
19/06/2018: Went with another couple and stayed the night. Simply delicious food. Lamb and Turbot stood out. The bread was varied and home made. Kept clear of the puddings!! BUT the cheese board of local cheeses was spectacular. Very pleasant staff - attentive without be too...
19/06/2018: We visited Chipping Norton today and having read that the Wild Thyme was rated number one decided to research it for tonight’s meal. Having looked at the restaurant door and facade we decided not to proceed any further. This is the first thing that the...

The Plough Inn

Alvescot and Filkins, West Oxfordshire
05/06/2018: After doing lots of trip advisor searches we decided on going here. So glad we did warm welcome fantastic food very well presented but not over fancy and plenty of it . The only down point is having to pay more for a non alcoholic drink than an alcoholic one but I guess that’s the governments fault for bringing in sugar tax . If your passing pay this pub a visit you won’t be disappointed
28/05/2018: We have a boat moored nearby and are trying some of the local restaurants as an alternative to a perpetual BBQ. This place is simply first class.

Spice Lounge

Burford, West Oxfordshire
20/06/2018: We enjoyed our food here - especially the popadoms. The various curries we tried (all vegetarian based this time) were good, though somewhat bland. Friendly service.
19/06/2018: My small group of old schoolmates visit this curry house every couple of months. The service is excellent. The food arrives quickly (but not too quickly!) and the standard is excellent. One of the group is married to an Indian girl, so he knows his stuff. The fish curries are excellent and they have a wide range of vegetarian options. The staff remember us each time, as well. It’s right on the high street opposite a couple of pubs. I just wish I lived closer!

The Swan Inn

Brize Norton and Shilton, West Oxfordshire
19/06/2018: We stopped at The Swan for lunch, having been there many times before but not for quite a while. I had the ‘Goats Cheese and Roasted Squash Tart and my husband had the Fish and Chips. Both meals were very nice and we really enjoyed the food although there really wasn’t much atmosphere. Staff were nice and polite but nothing exceptional I’m afraid. Will definitely visit again as the food is good and location lovely.
15/06/2018: Excellent food, excellent service, lovely location, very peaceful right by the river, we sat in the garden with the chickens and enjoyed it immensely

The Royal Oak at Burford

Burford, West Oxfordshire
16/06/2018: The food served here is very good especially their famous pies and the beer is good too! Excellent value for money. What more can you ask for??
13/06/2018: As soon as we walked in it was obvious that The Royal Oak is a 'watertight ship'.

The Red Lion

Standlake, Aston and Stanton Harcourt, West Oxfordshire
14/06/2018: We really enjoyed our visit to the Red Lion the other evening. We received a friendly welcome and efficient service. The beer was well kept, the wine list well chosen (and our rose delicious!) while our food (sourced locally) was impressive. The attention paid to my lactose intolerance was excellent. Thanks for that, it was much appreciated.
29/05/2018: Sadly this was probably our last trip to the Red Lion, but only because we are moving - the Red Lion remains the same, lovely service, lovely food and ales.

Sandwich de wItney

Witney South, West Oxfordshire
18/06/2018: A queue as always but we'll worth the wait...certainly lives up to it expectations. A real gem in Witney...
25/05/2018: Very good sandwiches, very good value! We have been quite often to pick up a baguette for lunch and it is consistently good, lots of choice, well filled baguettes and quick, friendly service.

The Old Mill Coffee Shop

Chipping Norton, West Oxfordshire
18/06/2018: Huge menu and good choices. Staff super friendly. Food nice and well priced. Often busy and nice atmosphere.
15/05/2018: You know you are in a good place when you are greeted with such a warm smile. Even when it is busy, the tables are cleared and cleaned as soon as they become free. Lots of attentive waiting staff. Food doesn't take too long to arrive and always looks good and fresh and tastes great. I'm particularly keen on the vegetarian breakfast - but some of the paninis and wraps are worth exploring particularly the halloumi and avocado in pitta. We will be back for sure

Whistlers

Chipping Norton, West Oxfordshire
19/06/2018: Always a treat to visit Whistlers !
17/06/2018: When all three of us rush for a bucket after our first mouthful you know there's a problem. What the hell has happened? The coffee is suddenly undrinkable after 15 years...made worse by the youngsters in charge that day saying, "We've been making the coffee wrong all this time and now we've had training. It will take a while to get used to it". This isn't my auntie Jean's darling...I won't be giving it a few months.

The Tite Inn

Chadlington and Churchill, West Oxfordshire
20/06/2018: Called here when camping at Chipping Norton. Best pub garden we've been in and the pub was full of atmosphere. Seemed to be very popular with locals and visitors. Food very good.
15/06/2018: Having just returned from a week in the Cotswolds, I simply had to add a review for The Tite Inn at Chadlington, which is very dog friendly. We ate here for 6 days and had 6 different traditional pub meals at this wonderful country pub. 10 out of 10 every time. Excellent food at a good price. Wonderful hosts and hospitality. Beautiful beer garden. Spotlessly clean. We will be going back. Well done to Anne and David who have captured a niche market instead of all the Gastro and Al A Carte pubs in the area.

The Orangery

Woodstock and Bladon, West Oxfordshire
21/06/2018: We have been to Blenheim Palace and Gardens many times enjoying the many cafe-type eateries but opted for a first visit to The Orangery to celebrate a very special wedding anniversary. What a wonderful experience. In beautiful surroundings were greeted and served by very friendly and respectful staff. Our waitress was Chiara (originally from Sicily) and we enjoyed her company as much as we did the top quality cuisine. Chiara was very friendly with genuinely interesting conversation and a deep knowledge of the menu which facilitated my sometimes tricky dietary requirements. An excellent afternoon was topped off by totally unexpected complimentary drinks to help celebrate our special occasion with an amateur photographer on hand! Thank you so much for a wonderful day.
21/06/2018: Can’t be more pleased with the very kind, attentive service led by Luis. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. The fish cake was delicious.

The Black Prince

Woodstock and Bladon, West Oxfordshire
20/06/2018: How could this happen.... Four adults, 4 different meals. All were fine except the fish and chips. Somehow I got fish with literally no fish inside? Maybe the thinest layer. It was strange. As it took awhile to get our food it wasn't worth making a fuss and holding everyone else up. Not sure I will go back. There is not way the cook could have missed this unless he wasn't paying attention to what he served. That opens other questions.
20/06/2018: We did visit this pub / restaurant but were disconcerted by the sheer width of the menu on offer - out thinking goes ' how can any chef cook all of that range of food' and it be excellent.

The Horseshoes

Witney South, West Oxfordshire, 30-45£
19/06/2018: We asked the horseshoes to provide ‘finger food’ for a business event. They completely exceeded our expectations, went above and beyond what we had asked for. They catered for vegans and meat lovers. Every single dish was absolutely beautiful and everyone commented on how delicious it was. Thank you so much Beth and Pinky, will definitely be using you over and over again xxxx
18/06/2018: Went with friends for an evening meal and had a superb meal, also the beers were varied and well kept. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

19/06/2018: Been away for 3 years travelling, but was pleasantly Surprised to see The menus & specials up on the blackboard! Even happier with the excellent food ! Service very pleasant too !
15/06/2018: We had lunch of black pudding starter followed by bubble. and squeak, and steak pie. All very good. Service was good and the Argentinean white wine was very pleasant. A little expensive but reliable quality based on several visits.
