Pangbourne, West Berkshire
25/11/2018: It was a great place to eat. Food and wine were great, and the service was excellent. You will need to book as there are not that many tables, and it is very popular. It is a noisy atmosphere which some will not like but we loved it. We shall be returning again soon.
23/11/2018: The food is great - simple, tasty, authentic. It is a cosy, family-run restaurant where we always feel welcome. Consistently fabulous!

The Fox

Downlands, West Berkshire, <20£
08/01/2019: A lovely pub in a great location. There is something about a family run pub that cannot be beaten! The food and Service were both first class and the welcome was as warm as the sun beaming through the windows. We will definitely be back!
07/01/2019: Very busy on a Sunday prior to New Year. Service and food both excellent.

The Woodspeen

Speen, West Berkshire
07/01/2019: 14 of us went to The Woodspeen last Saturday. The food was delicious as was the wine! Staff were attentive and good with the recommendations. We all had a lovely time. Highly recommend.
06/01/2019: Great lunch today thoroughly recommended - A bit pricey but nailed on as a great destination for birthday surprises etc

Spotted Dog

Cold Ash, West Berkshire
08/01/2019: Came here for dinner with a friend on a busy Friday night in December. Although there were Christmas parties going on, it didn’t interfere with the superb service. Food came out piping hot and delicious, and staff were friendly and couldn’t be more helpful! It’s so nice to have a lovely pub as your local pub! Will definitely be coming back!
08/01/2019: The restaurant was packed when we arrived on Boxing Day. We were a table of x15 which we assumed would mean a long wait. We were attended to straight away and looked after as if we were the only table requiring Service: The food was superb, the attention to each and every one of us was so impressive. I have rarely felt more welcome in a pub on my first ( but certainly not my last) visit!

The Bell Inn Aldworth

Basildon, West Berkshire
15/12/2018: As per usual, when we visit the Reading area, I was able to persuade (very easily it has to be said) my wife and our friend to visit this quintessentially English country inn. Most of the real ales are brewed locally and varied in flavour and type, some being brewed within a few miles. The rolls, whilst smaller than they used to be, are some of the best you'll ever taste. When we lived in the area we used to visit this beautifully quirky place on quite a regular basis, which is why I still love it now that I can't visit it so often.
22/11/2018: Visited on a Thursday lunchtime after a very frosty start to the day. The pub was really busy even though it is a very small village. We sat on a bench that was heated underneath, lovely! Men's toilets are interesting!

The Elm Tree Inn

Mortimer, West Berkshire, 20-30£
14/12/2018: We spent a very nice evening here. The food was the best in all my experience. The service is very professional and friendly. Definitely coming back more.
07/12/2018: Went here lunchtime on a Friday and it was very quiet.

The Sushi Maki

Victoria, West Berkshire
22/12/2018: Have been coming here regularly for over a year now, and it never fails to disappoint. The food is always amazing; with the presentation being a work of art, to the variety of taste being truly superb.
13/12/2018: Really amazing experience, sushi is absolutely delicious and fresh, made right in front of you! We visited as a couple with our flatmates as we are huge sushi lovers and did not disappoint!!

The Blade Bone Inn

Bucklebury, West Berkshire
17/12/2018: We went to the Bladebone for our works Christmas supper (8 people) - the food was fantastic and the service second to none. Many thanks.
16/12/2018: Eighteen of us, including young children, gathered here for Christmas Lunch. In the run up to the day the Bladebone Inn was very accommodating of a number of changes to our reservation and menu selections. They were happy to offer allergy advice and have the largest selection of vegetarian options on a Christmas menu that I've ever seen. The staff cheerfully, and without fuss, dealt with over an hours delay to the start of our meal (caused by a couple of people being held up in traffic). The setting was cosy, festive, relaxed and unique. The food was well presented and very tasty: in particular the Sticky Toffee pudding is melt in the mouth deliciousness. Highly recommended.

The Eastbury Plough

Lambourn Valley, West Berkshire
26/12/2018: Met up with family for pre-Christmas lunch and catchup. Food was as good as on our previous visit. We all opted for the main menu, choosing Berkshire venison, Dirty burger, Fowey mussels and roast chicken. We all agreed our choices were good and couldn't satisfactory enjoy a dessert as we had had starters. Service was good, prices reasonable. Overall a good meal with good atmosphere.
24/12/2018: We had a great Christmas Eve here, big family gathering, 15 people. Very friendly staff and superb food. Huge selection of Gins and good beers. We ordered in advance and most dishes were tried and appreciated by all.

Fox and Hounds Donnington

Speen, West Berkshire, 20-30£
05/01/2019: Pleasant pub, good location, good quality food typical pub prices with separate restaurant. Friendly atmosphere.
30/12/2018: Stopped with Daughter 21 and Son 18 coming back from sales shopping in reading, the place for a Friday was rammed, we asked for a table for 3, and the team found us the first available table after about 10 minute wait, staff great and helpful.

The Pantry

Compton, West Berkshire, <20£
27/11/2018: Smallish cafe set in a quaint little village. About 8 tables inside, parking very close by. Order from friendly staff. Very professional. Lattes £3.00, bacon sandwich approx £6.00. Lovely decor. Limited menu, but good value.
10/11/2018: The Pantry is great for daytime visits - breakfast, lunch, cake or just tea/coffee. Really friendly service and good food as well as a wide variety of cakes and menu choices. Highly recommended!

The Pot Kiln

Bucklebury, West Berkshire, >100£
18/12/2018: We visited The Pot Kiln for a pre-Christmas treat – and a treat it was! We started with the griddled wood pigeon, dry cured crispy bacon, black pudding, balsamic glaze and frisee which was excellent. For main the Pave Steak of Fallow, creamy mash, greens, crispy shallots, game stuffing and game gravy – I couldn’t finish it quick enough but disappointed it ended! Every mouthful was absolutely heaven. The whole visit was superb start to finish. We came here 7 years ago but will not leave it so long and look forward to return once the refurbishment has finished – Thank you
10/12/2018: My 3rd visit to The Pot Kiln over the past decade or so, ever since I watched Mike Robinson on TV setting this place up, and it is still as magical as ever with absolutely delicious food. The location is spectacular, the drive is lovely and you can't fault it. 4 adults plus a 2yr old visiting from London had a great day.

Tiy Tea Bar

Victoria, West Berkshire
17/12/2018: I love everything about this place, the food, the tea and the hosts. I visit this place when I am happy/ hungry/ sad, and I always feel better after. Food is all homemade, and I just love places like this much more than chain restaurants. This place is definitely worth a try at least!
06/11/2018: Little tea cafe in newbury, could add more highchair. Yummy noodles. I always a fan of chinese tea, so im happy there is lot of herbal chinese tea to enjoy amd healthy noodle

The Flower Pot Cafe

Victoria, West Berkshire
22/12/2018: Cute little cafe but very small inside - not many tables. The coffee is great and the breakfast is delicious and filling. The price is reasonable too just wish it was a bit bigger.
10/12/2018: This is a tiny quaint cafe in the town. Like sitting in a small front room of the 1950’s but with a iniquity touch to it.

Cote Brasserie - Newbury

Victoria, West Berkshire, >100£
08/01/2019: We were away in Newbury for weekend stay. We selected Cote Brasserie as having eaten with them before, were happy with the food.
06/01/2019: Our 3rd visit in two weeks and its amazing. This restaurant has been sorted and it is amazing for food and service. If I had one complaint is the speed in which they can serve 3 courses, please slow up a bit.
