The Fox

Downlands, West Berkshire, <20£
15/03/2019: Called in for lunch for 2. Steak spot on and fish likewise. Service great. Pub is lovely. There was nothing at all to dislike.
15/03/2019: Cheeky mid week dine out for high end pub grub in this wonderfully relaxed pub serving great food and wines. Perhaps it's a good thing that it's not even closer.

Spotted Dog

Cold Ash, West Berkshire
16/03/2019: Had an amazing fillet steak that I would expect to pay 3 times the price for. Great service as well, highly recommended.
15/03/2019: We booked a table with friends for Friaday evening meal and had a lovely evening. Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and fabulous reasonably priced food. Fish and Chips were amazing as were our other choices. Good sized portions and an excellent variety on offer..only wish we'd had room for dessert!

Fox and Hounds Donnington

Speen, West Berkshire, 20-30£
15/03/2019: 5 star Food and service Given a loyalty card on departure and guess what I'll be using it . Faultless
14/03/2019: Fox and Hounds is a true British pub, owned by a local Butcher's family so if you like meat/steak, definitely try it and if you don't, still try it as they cater for everybody. Young family team running it and providing cheerful, swift service. Great selection of drinks and snacks too - particularly like that they serve Prosecco by the mini bottle! We go there every time we go to a gig at Arlington Arts, just over the road. Can't recommend it highly enough!

The Sushi Maki

19/03/2019: I’ve been here 4 times in the last 6 weeks by myself and with friends. Says it all...I totally love it. Both the ambience, and the food are great. The food is interesting, sumptuous, phenomenal..dragon roll to die for..try it out! Remember to book if you don’t want to be disappointed...
18/03/2019: Superb food and service in the heart of Newbury. I have visited Newbury recently and found this little gem, which I absolutely adored. The food here is top quality and the service is very friendly and attentive. As a tourist I highly recommend.

Lina Tandoori

Pangbourne, West Berkshire
15/03/2019: Having known Ali and his family for the last 25 years we knew we would get excellent food and great service as always ,would recommend to anyone and am looking forward to going back with mates on Monday.
13/03/2019: After an afternoon spent with 4 work mates playing darts, pool and general chatting in the Pangbourne Working Mans Club, we went to Lina Tandoori where we had booked a table and enjoyed of very good meal. The food was delicious and plenty of it, too much to eat there so a doggie bag was needed! Ali, the owner, was as friendly as ever and his daughter who served us was very pleasant and efficient.

The Elm Tree Inn

Mortimer, West Berkshire, 20-30£
15/03/2019: Food was tasty enough but the vegetarian pie and then mash was a bit too similar - I got sick of potato. Would have been better to have different flavours or more selection in the menu... more vegetarian or chicken options. Service was also slow. I think it could have been really good otherwise and also more speedy service as we were kept waiting a very long time.
11/03/2019: Nice pub, restaurant a bit claustrophobic, but food was ok and good value. Although the Elm Tree is only a couple of miles outside Reading, the locals were a bit like something out of a 'Deliverance' carrot crunching timewarp. . . There was no straw hanging from mouths, or banjos, but the stink of cow muck was certainly a little pervasive, mostly emanating from fouled footwear. Ok if you're in the "I'm a Herdsman" posse. But not really our bag. The only highlight was a funny drunk loud woman who sounded like Mrs. Bouquet from 'Keeping up appearances'. . I'd book her for a birthday novelty turn in two minutes. . .

The Eastbury Plough

Lambourn Valley, West Berkshire
17/02/2019: Please don't bother looking at the 'sample' menu they show online, it bears no resemblance to the menu there at all, just as well be for another place! Most annoying, as it was because of their online menu we booked a table here. I can understand if meals change frequently, but it doesn't take much effort to show items you have available on your website rather than trying to lure customers in.
15/02/2019: Dropped in for a Friday lunch. Pub was reassuringly busy and we could see why. We got a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Menu was varied and interesting with some stock favourites too. We had fish and chips and Korean ribs - both delicious! Would definitely recommend.

Nino's

Pangbourne, West Berkshire
18/03/2019: After discovering Nino’s when we moved to the area a few months ago, we now can’t stay away for longer than a week at a time! Not only is the food first class but the staff are always friendly & attentive, especially Nino. How anyone could leave a bad review for this amazing restaurant is beyond me! Nino is the most fantastic host and works so hard. Thank you for a lovely birthday. Keep up the good work Nino, Claire, Flo & the rest of the staff. We will be back again soon. Claire and Chris x
17/03/2019: I have been to Nino's 4 times now and everytime i leave i feel i have had a perfect evening.

Speen, West Berkshire, >100£
12/03/2019: I was invited to a business dinner here, the food had been pre ordered, we ate a five course menu finishing with cheese, however the venison meat main was the stand out dish. Service was impeccable and a great selection of wines. Undoubtedly worth a visit.
09/03/2019: Smart and modern dining room, very friendly staff and comfortable chairs but...

The Catherine Wheel

Victoria, West Berkshire, >100£
17/03/2019: This pub has a great selection of real ale. During my stay in Newbury the Catherine Wheel had five ales on tap which included Cry of the Upstarts (Wild Weather Ales), Macchiato stout (Bingham Brewery) & Flack’s Double Drop (Flack Manor Brewery). The “Cry of the Upstarts” and “Macchiato Stout” was my favourite. For evening meal I had the “Matador” pie (“Pieminister”) which was delicious – I have never had olives and chorizo in a pie before! There is also a great selection of vegetables (which you help yourself too). We thought the beer choice was so good, we came back here another two times to drink here.
02/03/2019: We had our dog with us and were struggling to find somewhere to eat with her one evening.

The Blade Bone Inn

Bucklebury, West Berkshire
15/03/2019: Have run past during the day a few times. Finally got round to stopping by of an evening for food. Nice atmosphere. Vibrant and busy. Ordered one braised beef one pork belly. Food flavoursome and rich and well presented. Camembert for starter was awesome, came really nice chutney. Friendly waiting staff. Let downs, ordered a side of fries which were massively undercooked and could have done with a wider selection of beers
07/03/2019: We chose the Saturday before Valentine's Day to go out for dinner as a couple. The staff were cheerful and welcoming amidst a very busy bar/restaurant area. We were seated on a lower floor that is level with the back garden that was a little removed from the bar and quieter. All tables appeared booked and waiting staff (3 or 4) were all busy but cheerful. Getting our order placed was rapid. The menu is quite extensive and would suit many tastes. We had three courses and left feeling comfortable, the courses are modestly sized. What impressed us was the quality and flavours. The food is well presented and attractive but the flavours are there and have depth. The recipes seemed quite sophisticated and impressive, worth taking time over. For a busy restaurant the experience is relaxing, the waiting staff take it in their stride and its stress free. There are many good restaurants in the Bucklebury area but this is a favourite.

The Pot Kiln

Bucklebury, West Berkshire, >100£
03/03/2019: Yet to try the food but have heard great things as well. This is the local of a friend who has frequented the place for years. The only disadvantage is being the designated driver as you will struggle to get there on foot, this is by no means a criticism as the solitude is blissful. Probably my favourite pub in Berkshire and I consider myself a connoisseur.
09/02/2019: Excellent in every way. Location to die for, great staff, a cosy factor that goes beyond the scale and scrumptious food. A real treat that just makes you feel so welcome and is always a sure bet. Good fun to go for a walk pre your meal. I'm not a desert person but they have some killers here and entire menu is always original and opulent.

Tiy Tea Bar

Victoria, West Berkshire
04/03/2019: Great little place for lunch, I've only had the the noodle soups there and can vouch for their quality, it is amazing. They are great, made with care and attention, real homemade food that although can take a little while to be prepared, is worth the wait. Have visited several times and will again. Highly recommended.
02/03/2019: We were Visiting Newbury and saw the good reviews on TripAdvisor. We weren't disappointed we both chose noodle soups from a good selection on the menu. Lots of tea to choose from too, we had Jasmine. We shared an excellent pudding to finish. The service was exceedingly friendly. Although we don't live in Newbury we plan to visit again in the summer to sit outside next the canal.
