Restaurant 56

Faringdon and The Coxwells, Vale of White Horse, 60-100£
16/06/2018: I always love coming here so jumped for joy when my partners parents picked here for the second night of their stay. A true test of a restaurant is how well they cook a food I don't like - I hate lamb but I couldn't...
12/06/2018: This is a fine dinner restaurant attached to a hotel. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Even on their Choice menu( 3 courses for £40) I still got the canape's, complimentary pre-starter and palate cleansing Kombucha. The food itself was well presented and...

The Greyhound Inn

Greendown, Vale of White Horse
18/06/2018: We go to the Greyhound quite often because it's a cut above the usual freezer to fryer pub grub without being a pretentious gastro pub. The menu changes very regularly but there are the standards that are always available. Dogs are welcome in certain areas...
12/06/2018: The Vale of White Horse is one of those places that England does so well - beautiful, unspoiled and not overflowing with tourists. There are some lovely market towns and villages, in one of which is the Greyhound. We stayed overnight in a very comfortable...

The Woodman Inn

Faringdon and The Coxwells, Vale of White Horse
17/06/2018: Last minute choice but glad to have found this friendly and welcoming pub restaurant. Our starters were soup of the day (Potato and Cauliflower) and the garlic prawns. Mains were the Duo of Pork and the Lamb Shank. Large portions and well cooked. Staff were...
14/06/2018: Since The Woodman had new tenants my husband and I have returned having experienced good food and atmosphere. Their Tapas night on Thursday is very good and well worth a visit. We went this Tuesday for steak night my husband had the Rib Eye which...

Grocer Chef

Hendreds, Vale of White Horse
11/06/2018: We visited on a Saturday morning. What a find! A beautiful small but perfectly formed eatery in a beautiful village. 2 x full English with toast and coffee for £8 each.
24/04/2018: We came here after a morning walk having preordered our food at 10am. They were well able to cope with a group of 15 for lunch without putting off their regular customers. Most of us had main courses, which are reasonably priced at about £7 to £9. The food is of course café style with most courses coming with chips and salad, but it was served promptly, and the service was friendly and attentive. We will be back!

Bella Napoli

Abingdon Fitzharris, Vale of White Horse
17/06/2018: First visit to this gem of a restaurant and it certainly won't be our last. Food was excellent and service also excellent. Highly recommend.
13/06/2018: How is this place not packed. The food is soooooooo fresh and amazing. Staff so good and fantastic atmosphere. Not our first visit and will NOT be our last. So accommodating. The best Italian I/we have EVER had......Ever anyware

The Brewery Tap PH

Abingdon Ock Meadow, Vale of White Horse
11/06/2018: great choice of lunch, massive portions, maybe lacked a bit of subtlety. Sat outside on hot day, spoilt by smelt of toilets Lack of car park great staff
21/05/2018: Whilst staying in the Abingdon area we were very fortunate to come across this pub/restaurant. The food was excellent with ample portions. The real ale was also very good and the staff friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Java & Co

Abingdon Abbey and Barton, Vale of White Horse, <20£
19/06/2018: Fantastic location on the Market Square, friendly helpful staff and great coffee, pastries and cakes as well as a fab lunch menu too. Lovely place to visit.
03/04/2018: Java & Co is an independent cafe conveniently located in the centre of Abingdon. There are lots of cafes in the town centre, but I always go to Java for the great coffee, food (including delicious handmade cakes) and the wonderful and friendly service from all of the staff. The cafe is always spotlessly clean too. They also provide newspapers for customers to read and blankets for people to borrow if they choose to sit outside on a chilly day.

The Eagle Tavern at Little Coxwell

Faringdon and The Coxwells, Vale of White Horse
12/05/2018: A local pub which has been upgraded into a fine restaurant. Good, friendly service; an interesting menu with delicious food at reasonable prices.
02/05/2018: Two of us had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner here after work one evening. Everything was competently cooked and well presented, with some good flavours and interesting local ingredients. The service was fine, too. But everyone in the place was very quiet - almost a hallowed atmosphere! - and although our combined age is close to a hundred, I think we were the youngest people in that night! So very good, but would be much more fun if it were a bit livelier, and I wouldn't hurry back. Maybe we just hit a quiet night.

Sadlers Catering

Faringdon and The Coxwells, Vale of White Horse
03/03/2018: A beautiful old building full of character. A super varied menu for us to choose from. Our young waitress was friendly and polite. We had Indonesian soup to share a BLT and Brie on toast with walnuts and Honey. Very happy with our food. Only...
27/02/2018: We thoroughly enjoyed a party friends of ours hosted here. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was original and different - though all with a Mediterranean theme. It was a great venue for a party.

Bay tree Pub

Grove, Vale of White Horse, >100£
13/06/2018: Had a great time at the Baytree the staff were really helpful from start till the end and the food was great the children had a great time would go there again I had the steak cooked to how I asked for and the kids polished there off and the deserts
10/06/2018: Sullen customer service, ordered food not available, tepid when delivered to the table although fresh made rather than reheated meals were good. Very limited non meat food options filthy wine glasses

The Chequers Inn Restaurant

Longworth, Vale of White Horse
05/06/2018: Came across this pub while out on a bike some weeks back.
25/04/2018: We were staying locally and came across this gem of a pub, a beautifully set out interior and the food is simply amazing, nothing was a problem and the service was exceptional. We had steak and both were cooked to perfection, we loved every minute with great wine. Thank you for a loverly evening. 10 out of 10.

The Packhorse - Eating Inn

Hendreds, Vale of White Horse, 20-30£
20/06/2018: Nice Gastro pub. With a great ambience. It has been recently revamped. Offers a huge menu, so lots of choice for the entire group. The pizzas are always a highlight for me. I would say pricing was in line with similar establishments in the area.
04/06/2018: This place has a lot of ambience and seems to be very popular. Almost every table was filled. I had a nice rump steak and my partner had a tasty pizza. There is something to look at everywhere in the Packhorse and wished it had been warm enough to eat outside. Desserts looked great, but service was a bit slow and we were tired. It's very convenient to Didcot and on the road to the Rutherford Appleton Lab. I think that makes it convenient for business meetings.

Star Inn Restaurant

Craven, Vale of White Horse
19/06/2018: Three of us came for lunch having heard about this pub/restaurant. What a pretty place and how beautifully done up. Loved the colour scheme and simplicity of the table settings, clean and shiny cutlery and glassware an how lovely to have proper linen napkins! The menu was interesting - especially the desserts which were just amazing - lovely house wine and great service. But, what a lovely place, so quiet and peaceful - would like to return to try out the barn accommodation.
03/06/2018: We had a fantastic stay for 2 nights with our dogs, staying in the beautifully converted Barn. Comfortable, relaxing and of a very high standard. The breakfast was superb, hats of to the chef. We even indulged in having our evening meals there, wow, we have eaten in many restaurants in our life time and this hits in the top 3. The staff and management were exceptional polite and courteous at all times. We will be going back again next year with our dogs as this was just as much a break for them as it was for us.

The Eight Bells

Appleton and Cumnor, Vale of White Horse
09/06/2018: Lovely friendly village pub. Traditional pub games, Aunt Sally and a darts board. Well kept outside. Traditional pub food and Thai dishes cooked by a lady who is actually Thai. There is a takeaway menu, but no delivery, Thai food is very tasty and popular.
28/05/2018: Lovely old fashioned pub in the small village of Eaton. Friendly Landlord. Good selection of drinks. Nice atmosphere.
