The Poet

Brenchley and Horsmonden, Tunbridge Wells, 20-30£
16/12/2018: Went for Sunday lunch, food tasted lovely but small portions. Set menu 3 courses not bad for £27 but one of the chaps on our table was still hungry after 3 small courses. Food superb and will visit again.
11/12/2018: We've recently tried The Taster menu which was delicious and the Steak Evening where the steak was very tender.

St James', Tunbridge Wells, >100£
16/11/2018: We called in last night without having booked and were warmly welcomed and seated.
29/10/2018: Isn't it always the way - you read wall to wall amazing reviews of a place and then get that tinge of disappointment when it doesn't quite match up to the lofty expectations.

The Spice

St James', Tunbridge Wells
20/11/2018: Dinner last night at Spice , Tunbridge Wells was absolutely fantastic.
19/11/2018: We love eating at The Spice. Delicious food and excellent service. Would definitely recommend to friends.

21/11/2018: This is an outstanding pub, ideal for getting together with friends. Warm, friendly and always fun it's always a pleasure to visit.
16/11/2018: A very warm and cosy afternoon spent here in front of a log fire with a fantastic selection of vegetarian meals and even biscuits for dog visitors! Wonderful service in beautiful surroundings.

The Black Horse

Pembury, Tunbridge Wells
17/12/2018: We were very impressed. Sunday lunch, be sure to book, was exceptionally good. About 4 different meats to choose from, loads of vegetables and gravy.
11/12/2018: We had not been here in years but what a surprise- excellent food, extensive menu, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere

Kai's Kitchen

Park, Tunbridge Wells
01/12/2018: Now this place really surprised me. My wife kept telling me there was s cafe almost opposite Tunbridge Wells rail station, and I kept replying, “No way!” That’s because Kai’s Kitchen morphs from a Thai restaurant in the evenings into a great British brunch establishment during the day. It’s a kinda hectic place. It has lots of regulars that are quite evident by being welcomed by name. Now being basically a Thai-run place, you’d expect little intricate details in a British lunchtime meal and you wouldn’t be disappointed. Our jacket potatoes came with lettuce, carrot spirals and some white vegetable spirals (probably cabbage or turnip maybe?) and with 2 beautifully crafted decorative carrot flowers. Now you don’t often see that in your average greasy spoon, do you? The spuds were cooked perfectly and my chilli con crane was perfectly spicy. And at less than a fiver, brilliant. £13.85 for 2 filled spuds and tea and a coffee. And in ROYAL Tunbridge Wells too! And right there opposite the station. What’s not to like? They do panini, breakfasts, sandwiches, you name a Thai menu if that’s your lunchtime desire. As I say it’s a busy, hectic place but clean, good service and nicely decorated.’s hard to find unless you really look for it. But take my advice.....go look! It’s well worth stopping by. We’ll certainly make it a regular stop next time we shop in TW.
19/11/2018: Small place with most tables reserved when we went for Saturday lunch - so book. Very friendly. I thought that the food was very good - I had a great noodle soup, my wife had a Pad Thai. My children are both Thai food aficionados and they both said it was very good. Recommend.

Sofias Colombian Kitchen

Park, Tunbridge Wells
12/12/2018: Colombian food at it’s best. I was told We were going to someone’s house to eat Colombian food with about 20 other people!!?? I didn’t know what to except. You bring your own drinks (so that works out cheaper) and find the venue down a side road.
09/12/2018: I have visited Sofia’s Columbian Kitchen twice now and thoroughly enjoyed myself each time.

St John's Fish Bar

St John's, Tunbridge Wells
20/10/2018: Always reliable, good fish and chips, excellent service. Good new sized portions - great for children, and light meals and for greedy adults!
14/09/2018: So the choices are small cod and chips or standard cod and chips. I order standard and the piece of fish I received was small. Not exactly a complicated order. Wouldn't like to see the small fish! Not impressed,

Juliet's Cafe

Pantiles and St Mark's, Tunbridge Wells
27/11/2018: Great service, delicious cakes, yummy brunch, great variety of salads and fun relaxing atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit
18/11/2018: The choice of homemade cakes made it difficult to make a choice, so my two companions and I all chose something different so that we could compare. My favourite was the courgette cake, but the others were equally delicious. My coffee was also good. This very popular cafe is almost always full.

The Mount Edgcumbe

Broadwater, Tunbridge Wells, 30-45£
03/12/2018: Whilst our room (3) was lovely, I was disappointed when we turned up as the lady behind the bar said they had run out of bacardi and did not know when they would be getting any in. Unfortunately I do not drink anything else and was surprised that no effort was made to obtain a bottle as we had intended to stay at the hotel that night to have a meal and a drink. When I enquired about a table for us, the lady behind the bar said that they could not accommodate us unless we sat upstairs next to a large Christmas party table. We declined this. I then asked if we could have a table for Saturday lunch but again was told there was nothing but we would have to sit upstairs next to a large Christmas party again. I got the same response when I enquired about Saturday night to which we declined. We were therefore forced to venture out in poor weather which was not ideal. It is a shame as we had read so many good reviews about the quality of the food but could not take advantage of this. I would like to say that the breakfast was amazing but we are disappointed that we could not eat lunchtime/evening as non-residents had booked in. If we had known this was the 'norm' i would have booked a table when I made the booking months ago. As stated, we could not fault the room which was lovely, as was the breakfast. The fact that no effort was made to replenish the Bacardi was a disappointment too as we were there for the whole weekend. I would like to add that the staff were very friendly.
22/11/2018: Amber was lovely she served us with a smile, she was friendly, the food was very nice too, Give Amber a pay rise!:)

Benenden and Cranbrook, Tunbridge Wells, >100£
12/11/2018: What a privilege! We decided to have four 'half' dishes and each one was a tribute to taste, attention to gastronomic detail and care. It was a straightforward pleasure and an unforgettable birthday treat for me very gratefully received! Highly recommended
11/11/2018: We discovered this restaurant after trying the other so called Kentish stars (Sportsman, West House etc.) within a reasonable driving distance of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Apicius is a true revelation. It so happened that we also dined at Apicius Paris (not related), but that was many years ago. Here, the Menu allows you to pick full or half courses from four choices, thus making up your "appetizer" from a main course and your main course from an "appetizer". Indeed there are no "appetizers" or main courses here. You can simply choose half or full portions from all dishes of equally weighted importance. What a clever idea! Worth considering by other restaurateurs!

Arte Bianca

Pantiles and St Mark's, Tunbridge Wells
11/11/2018: After moving to Royal Tunbridge Wells a couple of years ago, this is the place which sees us most. For a good reason: shopping for the finest Italian ham, prosciutto from Parma or Mortadella, all cut paper thin and then packaged most delicately in waxed wrapping paper and individual A4-sized plastic bags, and a vast array of other Italian goodies: rare wines and Flamigni Pannetone from Piemonte. All your shopping may be pleasantly combined with sitting down to eat: the dish of the day, a vast selection of finger-licking tasty pannini, wonderful cakes and the best Italian espresso in town. One cannot find any flaw here except the closing at 5:30pm. One hour more would be most welcome.
17/09/2018: Making our way up from the Pantiles to the top of the town, we decided to grab a quick coffee here.

Fuggles Beer Cafe

Culverden, Tunbridge Wells
22/11/2018: I visited Fuggles for the 1st time and I was amazed by the high level of service and knowledge by the staff. It’s always busy and you can see by the customers in there it’s a great place to go and enjoy lunch or drinks into the evening. The choice of beers/ales were excellent and I was offered to try one before I purchased it. I bought some beer sticks and a cheese board. All were of excellent quality. The music set the right tone and wasn’t too loud. I will definitely be come back more regularly. Well done to the management and all the staff for getting this level of service so right
22/11/2018: We arrived in Tunbridge Wells and went looking in town for lunch. So glad we stumbled upon this place. My wife had a toasted cheese sandwich and a pot of tea. I opted for the 2 items chopping board. I had salami and Lincolnshire Poacher cheese served with a pear chutney and pickles. I selected a light red wine to aid digestion. It was a lovely all round lunch and experience.

Weeks Tea Room

Goudhurst and Lamberhurst, Tunbridge Wells
16/12/2018: We stopped off here on our way through Goudhurst and had a nice coffee and very nice cake from an excellent selection on offer. The staff were very friendly and the service was good, a nice relaxing place to stop off.
24/11/2018: What a lovely lunch we’ve just had at this tea room. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the food was very reasonably priced, varied tasty menu and nicely prepared. Customer service was excellent. If we come to Goudhurst again we will definitely return

The Imperial

Southborough North, Tunbridge Wells
18/11/2018: What a great experience we had. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The chef is super talented, the Zuppa de Pesce or Fish Stew was absolutely brilliant! I could eat this everyday and still want more. I can’t wait to come back, really lovely on every front.
18/11/2018: I have never left a review before. This was FANTASTIC. Probably the best Mussels I have ever had and it’s something I have eaten all over Europe my wife’s and daughters meals were equally good and the starters excellent. Beers great and good choice of everything else. Great staff and would recommend and we will definitely be back 5/5.
