The Market Place

Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan, >100£
12/08/2018: This was my 2nd visit to The Market Place and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent (I’d strongly recommend the Confit Duck Leg). Despite having a party of 40 and a full restaurant, the service was impeccable. Will be visiting again very soon!
06/08/2018: This is one of our favourite haunts. The service is second to none and we are always greeted like the most important customers there. This time Martin (one of the waiters)

The Highwayman Inn

Rhoose, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
18/08/2018: I love eating at the Highwayman, food is always delicious which is directly a compliment to the chiefs. The service is always good. lots of smiles, maybe a little slow from time to time but its understandable with the huge amount of work the front of house staff obviously have.
15/08/2018: Went for a meal at the Highwayman with friends last weekend. We hadn’t booked & were lucky to get a table (Saturday at 5pm) so would book in future. We all had different meals and were all very happy with our choices. My lasagne was delicious & everybody loved the chunky chips!! The burgers, coleslaw & pickle also got the thumbs up from our party. Prices were not overly expensive & staff were helpful & friendly. It’s quite a way down the road & you think you’ve missed it but suddenly it’s there so keep going, you won’t be disappointed.

Llanerch Vineyard Restaurant

4 offers
Peterston-super-Ely, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
13/08/2018: Met up with a group of seven old school friends to eat & drink & reminisce.
05/08/2018: I recently visited here for a meal with a group of friends and although the surroundings of the restaurant were beautiful, the food was sadly very disappointing,m. Being coeliac I have to check the ingredients in the food and was assured that the meal that I chose was suitable. Unfortunately within an hour of finishing my meal I was incredibly ill which I know to be gluten poisoning. Two other members of our party also complained about their meal due to it being burnt, one requesting another meal which returned uncooked. It is a shame that I have to write such a bad review as I have never done with any other place before! Just a warning to any coeliacs who are visiting this restaurant, make sure that you request the ingredients for whatever meal you choose as clearly they need educating in this area!

Restaurant James Sommerin

Plymouth, The Vale of Glamorgan
16/08/2018: Excellent food and staff for a special evening or celebration. You expect to pay a high price but it is well worth the money.
12/08/2018: We had an overnight stay and loved it all. The 6 course taster menu was one of the best we have had with well balanced flavours and textures., beautifully presented. We particularly liked the fact that the young chefs presented and explained the courses they had cooked.

Johns Cafe

Baruc, The Vale of Glamorgan
18/08/2018: After reviewing TripAdvisor a short walk we came to the Cafe, excellent choice of food available and at a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and we even had to make room for an icecream too!
06/08/2018: Never fails to serve up a fab breakfast in a fabulous location. Their fish and chips are pretty good too!

Nicola's Juice and Coffee Bar

St. Augustine's, The Vale of Glamorgan, <20£
26/06/2018: Have visited Nicolas on several occasions recently and on recommendation from my son tried one of Nicolas chocolate bar shakes. This comprises a chocolate bar of your choice, I chose a four finger Kit Kat, multiple scoops of ice cream and milk which is liquidised. This is then topped off with squirty cream and sprinkles.
11/05/2018: Back again on a warm Sunday - shared coffee and Welsh cakes with excellent service and views to die for. Not sure what more you could want!

St. Bride's Major, The Vale of Glamorgan
19/08/2018: Visited recently for lunch. Service impeccable and not intrusive and food of exceptional quality - lunchtime special menu good value. Difficult to find anything to criticise but a petit fours with the coffee would have been nice to round off a lovely occasion. Will definitely return.
14/08/2018: Spent a lovely evening in a Frolics! First visit and what a gem it is! Franco was the perfect host and the food amazing!

The Hare & Hounds

Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan
16/08/2018: booked for lunch having read several reviews recommending this establishment and have to ask who actually writes these reviews. Ordered the duck only for this to be served, not pink as one would expect, but served completely raw! Drew this to the attention of a member of staff who returned it to the kitchen. no doubt it was then flashed under the grill as it was returned to us within minutes with the outside cooked but the middle again completely raw. I have no doubt that this meal would have made us ill had we eaten it. Also the potato served with the duck had been seasoned with so much rock salt the potato was inedible! Was also surprised to see that there is one unisex toilet which is situate in the dining room, the door to which was absolutely filthy. No wonder they only have a hygiene rating of 3, in my opinion they are lucky to have that!!
12/08/2018: This is a Pub with a difference. The restaurant is run with great enthusiasm and imagination by a young team led by a chef who has great talents. From the moment you walk into the bar till you leave you see staff who obviously enjoy working there. Great food, beautifully presented and a good wine list. I could not fault our lunch.

Rhoose, The Vale of Glamorgan
07/08/2018: I really like this pub . The food is both varied and portions are huge . Extremely good if you are hungry . The Sunday lunch is really good and you epwill not go away disapointed .
06/08/2018: Fabulous meal.. very friendly staff.. with great Management.. definitely recommend a visit either lunchtime or an evening meal!

Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan
19/08/2018: First time back here in about 2 years and very happy to report that it's back on form. Kept it simple with a couple of pizzas and some wine, all of which was lovely.
18/08/2018: Had lunch here today and thought the food was really good especially the pizzas cooked in a proper oven. Had a thumbs up from the whole family which is not an easy achievement so well done Arboreal we will be back.

The Six Bells Village Pub & Restaurant

Rhoose, The Vale of Glamorgan, 30-45£
18/08/2018: We came here for dinner on Friday having visited 5 or 6 years ago. The Six Bells is a country inn in the small village of Penmark located just over 3 miles from Cardiff Airport.
10/08/2018: What a wonderful venue for our reception. Plenty of space and loads of parking. James and his team helped us from start to finish- nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. Food lovely and plentiful. Decorated tastefully. Weather was great so we had doors open onto the patio. It was a Monday so we had the place to ourselves. Everone enjoyed themselves. Top quality food and service.

Compass Coffee

St. Augustine's, The Vale of Glamorgan
12/08/2018: Came here for coffee and cakes. Wow! Amazing service and food. Will definitely come back again soon.
06/08/2018: My parents had heard of this cafe, so when I was down in Penarth decided to take them there. It is in an excellent position, we sat outside for breakfast.

The Bush Inn

Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan
01/09/2018: The hours drive to meet a friend for lunch was well worth it. Oldie worldly Inn. Staff very attentive, menu & specials board varied & interesting, food was delicious, we were not rushed in any way. Option to eat inside or in the garden.
30/08/2018: Rang for a reservation last minute, no problem at all despite arriving 45 mins before closing. We were not rushed at all and staff couldn’t do enough for us.

Star Inn

Llandow/Ewenny, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
20/08/2018: Lovely quaint pub beautiful food, the grandchildren loved the dessert menu, staff very polite and helpful
20/08/2018: Beautiful pub with a thatched roof situated in a village location. Beautiful food in lovely surroundings. Highly recommended

The Fig Tree

Plymouth, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
19/08/2018: For a place in such a great location, that offers fantastic views and courteous service, It is such a let down when the food tastes on par average. You expect a pork belly to be popping with flavour, yet it was bland. My girlfriend had the lamb and showed a reaction similar mine. A massive shame for two food lovers!! However, thank you for the great service. Although next time, we will most likely enjoy the view from a restaurant down the road.
18/08/2018: Booked for a Saturday night. On arrival greeted by friendly staff and seated straight away. The whole restaurant has a great view over the Bristol channel.
