The Highwayman Inn

Rhoose, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
16/06/2019: This is a great place with great food. The food is amazing and the portion size is really great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable. Would recommend to others.
16/06/2019: Amazing food and great staff. We visited as my husband didn't want a traditional sunday lunch. Although not cheap, the portions were huge! None of us managed to finish our food, even my son who has a large appetite. This was no reflection on the quality of the food, just the quantity. Would definitely visit again. Also our thanks to the guy in the secure carpark next door who showed us where to go to see the aeroplanes landing and taking off at the airport. A lovely afternoon out.

Compass Coffee

St. Augustine's, The Vale of Glamorgan
10/06/2019: Fantastic cafe set in the beautiful surroundings of Penarth marina. Breakfast is served using all local produce. It was presented beautifully. Staff are really friendly. It’s a pleasure to visit. Will definitely call again
30/05/2019: Enjoyed lunch here. Managed to get a car parking space right outside. My partner enjoyed a warm chicken roll and then we both enjoyed the Beth’s Bakes brownies. We enjoyed the brownies so much, we bought more to take with us! Looking forward to returning especially with the restaurant expanding upstairs. Lovely staff who make you feel welcome.

Llanerch Vineyard Restaurant

4 offers
Peterston-super-Ely, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
16/06/2019: Extremely disappointed with the appalling behaviour of a staff member!!! Definitely would not recommend, absolutely ruined the afternoon for all us! Left a voice mail to complain and haven’t received the courtesy of a reply.
14/06/2019: I appreciate you pay for quality over quantity, but when the desert is larger than the main course, enough said. Glad there was a "take away" close by on the way home. The "front of house" staff were certainly lacking in etiquette training, waited for us to pass her our finished plates, served us the wrong drinks and one meal, leaned across whilst eating to remove empty glasses, not good. Would I recommend this restaurant? Certainly not.

Johns Cafe

Baruc, The Vale of Glamorgan
05/06/2019: Had Sunday lunch last month with a friend and highly recommend it. Gluten free gravy was provided for me too. Going again on Sunday. Hot plates and hot food. Fantastic. Staff very friendly too and prices very good
05/06/2019: This is the place to go for a good old fashioned cooked breakfast . Also the milkshakes are really good . But even the snacks are well cooked and presented . Friendly staff . Waitress service . Reasonable price

St. Bride's Major, The Vale of Glamorgan
17/06/2019: Frolics was recommended to us by a relative. We popped in on a Thursday evening to book for the Friday. We were greeted with smiles and a handshake. When we arrived on the Friday evening we sat downstairs. Very intimate and private. A lovely setting. The food was amazing. Only one draught lager (Peroni from memory) and 2 bottle beers available. I was driving so just had the one pint. My wife had the house white and deemed it so delicious she had more!!! There is a wine list available too. The service was outstanding. Attentive but not overpowering. The perfect balance. Would 100% recommend and if ever Im back in South Wales I will visit again. A great evening. Thank you to all at Frolics.
16/06/2019: Yet again all five of us had a wonderful lunch for Father’s Day. Frolics under its new owners have retained all of the wonderful features and menu from their previously run Market Place restaurant in Cowbridge. The location, decor and attention to detail and guests was superb. The food was sublime with the Roast beef seeming to have just beaten the sea bass to best meal. Definitely a tie between the lemon roulade with raspberries and the vanilla panna cotta with champagne and strawberries- both were exquisite.

The Six Bells Village Pub & Restaurant

Rhoose, The Vale of Glamorgan, 30-45£
14/06/2019: Myself and 3 friends called in the Six Bells for lunch. Food was delicious, staff friendly and courteous and nothing too much trouble. The crunchy cheesecake was scrumpy!
12/06/2019: The pub is nestled in a small village about 1 kilometre from Cardiff airport. The pub is quaint and is the home watering hole to many local characters. The menu has much to offer especially the salmon. There is a daily offer ( an appetizer and a main for 12£s ). The food is delicious ,the service impeccable and all the meals came piping hot. A great bar with many taps featuring local beers. Kudos to Anika the helpful and very interesting server. Fresh eggs are available thanks to the henhouse at the back of the pub.

Restaurant James Sommerin

Plymouth, The Vale of Glamorgan
14/06/2019: I don’t usually like fine dining restaurants. They make me feel a little uncomfortable. However, somebody had bought me a voucher for my birthday. It was due to expire And not wanting to waste it we booked for a lunchtime visit.
11/06/2019: The food, ambience, service and location of this restaurant are all superb. The dining area is beautifully appointed, creating a relaxed, modern and sophisticated ambience. This was enhanced by the whole restaurant team from front of house right through to Mr Sommerin himself. The food more than lived up to all the awards the restaurant has so far accrued. We stayed overnight in their wonderful rooms above which elevated our experience to an even higher level.

Nicola's Juice and Coffee Bar

St. Augustine's, The Vale of Glamorgan, <20£
06/05/2019: Friendly Welcome to Penarth Pier , Freshest Filter Coffee and No nonsense Tea ,, at a reasonable Price ,, clasping warm drinks overlooking the outgoing tide , sat on the pier ,, Can not beat it ,, MUST VISIT !!!!
02/05/2019: We always use this café for the tea because she is cheaper than the others on the pier, with a large carton of tea. We also like the old photos of the fish that has been caught on the pier.

Bar 44

St. Augustine's, The Vale of Glamorgan
16/06/2019: Lovely place (premises, decoration), good quality wine and food, however, the staff isn't necessirily helpful enough, smiles and transparency can go a long way with customers; prices aren't advertised properly. We found some members of staff acting petty for no reasons at all. Overall disappointing experience - Given the amount of money spent there, customers should expect a 5-star customer service experience: Bar 44 waiters/tresses can still do much better!
27/05/2019: Great staff, great food, what more do you want on a BH Monday? Always a lovely welcome from the boys behind the bar, watch out for the Sangria, too good!

Star Inn

Llandow/Ewenny, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
11/06/2019: A nice pub in the outskirts of Bridgend. Very pleasant welcome. The food was correct but could be easily improved.
02/06/2019: Absolutely awesome the food was out of this world x. When it’s home made it is the most comfort food. Kim was outstanding at delivering the sensational service along with the perfect team. I was recommended the beef Wellington and it didn’t disappoint not to mention the mad hatters tea party dessert was in another dimension. Can’t wait to go back X

The Market Place

Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan, >100£
24/05/2019: Looking for a place for quick drink and lunch next to bus station. Found this place and just ticked all the boxes for cheap, quick eats and drinks.
25/04/2019: Good food, using local produce. Attentive staff, atmospheric surroundings and a menu that takes advantage of seasonal produce. The only real negative is that the menu has become more restrictive than in the past. Good location in a very attractive market town, easy parking.

Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan
08/06/2019: Warm welcome, great service and a lovely menu for all. We're have a low carb lifestyle and found that we had a good choice of foods. Hope to see a low carb dessert choice next time :) Had to come home for my berries and cream but didn't bother us too much.
10/05/2019: Amazing lunch and cannot wait to go again All enjoyed our meal in a lovely relaxed atmosphere , It was the best sandwich one of the staff had eaten!!

The Windsor Restaurant & Tea Rooms Penarth

St. Augustine's, The Vale of Glamorgan
13/06/2019: Return visit to Penarth,so had to visit the Windsor tea rooms.
29/05/2019: Went for the fish (cod) with a choice of sides or baked potato which was so big the chips were brought in a another dish.....the plates were hot as was the food ,well presented by attentive waiting staff...after my fish arrived I looked over at a roast of the day being served and on my next visit that will be my choice.....If you are in Penarth you will not be disappointed when you dine here......................

The Fig Tree

Plymouth, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
09/06/2019: Just sitting out the cafe. Scones available but no jam. Rediculous, who eats a scone without jam and cream on a sunday afternoon
06/06/2019: Spacious ambience, attentive service. Scallops tender and perfectly cooked, Haddock fresh with light crispy batter and morish hand cut chips. Arancini with salted caramel ice cream was special. Fair priced wine list. Very good value overall, will return.

Seashore Grill & Cafe Bar

Sully, The Vale of Glamorgan
13/06/2019: Fabulous food with an amazing view of Sully Island. A perfect way to start the day’s coastal path walk.
12/06/2019: The foid here is very good. A range of dishes to choose from and cooked well. I do wish the staff were a bit cheerier though. Yhey are very good, just hardly ever a smile between them.
