The Highwayman Inn

Rhoose, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
12/03/2019: This place has a fantastic reputation so is always busy and generally fully booked on lunch and dinner times. The Fishcakes are so good I’ve had them 3 times now it’s my go to meal! The portion sizes are huge but the price is great as you’ll pay the same elsewhere for less! There are pensioners deals Too so my Mum is happy to join me :) not much room for manoeuvre with pushchairs or prom so if your taking a baby only take a car seat in. Sometimes I think the music can be a little loud for me but the people who work there are so friendly and helpful they are accommodating and turn it down if requested. This is a great place for a date, for Family Dinner and a group lunch, there’s a park outside for kids to play too and is very close to the airport. It also backs onto the Highwayman Airport Parking so if your using that stop here for food!
10/03/2019: Sadly should have kept waiting. We have not been here for many years , when we found out it was still open we had to revisit.

Llanerch Vineyard Restaurant

4 offers
Peterston-super-Ely, The Vale of Glamorgan, 20-30£
12/03/2019: Just returned from a lovely afternoon tea at Llanerch.
12/03/2019: Just had lunch in bistro. First class. The venue, food and staff was excellent. Will definitely be returning soon.

Johns Cafe

Baruc, The Vale of Glamorgan
26/02/2019: Only recently started to visit and its become a family favourite already.
03/02/2019: Quick service with a smile. Lovely ham egg and chips served fresh which was delicious. Great value will come again.

The Market Place

Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan, >100£
20/02/2019: Lovely decor, great service and outstanding food. A 3 course meal was very reasonably priced. The only thing that I found weird, was the bottle of wine we ordered was placed out of reach. We were told that the waiter staff HAD to pour our drinks! Rubbish. If I order a bottle I want it next to me, so it can’t be tampered with.
18/02/2019: We visited here on a Saturday night and although the atmosphere was a little flat, the food and service definitely made up for that.

St. Bride's Major, The Vale of Glamorgan
13/03/2019: Lovely food and settings A VERY FRIENDLY WELCOME AND SERVICE. Good choice on a varied menu' Will return soon
02/03/2019: We visited here for dinner on Friday night, the restaurant is nicely laid out and was busy even when we arrived relatively early at just past 7pm - always a good sign. We arrived and Franco sat us at our table, we were served our drinks and invited to read the specials board. Spoilt for choice, some lovely sounding dishes of seafood and meat. We were served some lovely garlic toast and then had our starters of mushrooms and scallops. The mushrooms were filled with ham and cheese and served with a tasty tomato sauce. The scallops were served with a simple side salad and cooked in white wine, garlic and chilli - absolutely superb. For mains we had the monkfish wrapped in parma ham and tagliatelle with salmon and prawns - again beautiful and tasty - my wife commented that it was the best monkfish she had ever had. Service was friendly and swift and the restaurant remained busy and vibrant during our visit - a great atmosphere. Franco is a superb host and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Will definitely visit again and would highly recommend.

The Six Bells Village Pub & Restaurant

Rhoose, The Vale of Glamorgan, 30-45£
04/03/2019: I went here for Sunday lunch and I was blown away, the portions were massive and delicious. I often find that Sunday dinner in a restaurant is a tricky thing as one prefers what one has at home. At this pub I was glad to see homemade roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings (not frozen) they were also accommodating to my tastes toward s sone of the vegetables and I thought it was the best restaurant Sunday dinner I’d ever had I shall visit again.
15/02/2019: Another fantastic meal at the six bells in penmark bar staff and waiter staff as so friendly and your made to feel very welcome and the food and service was 10 out of 10

Restaurant James Sommerin

Plymouth, The Vale of Glamorgan
14/03/2019: Had the 6 course tasting menu and every course was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was very good and the restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Wish I could go there every week but then I would be bankrupt! Recommended for that special meal but worth finding an excuse to go there anyway.
11/03/2019: Stayed over with the wife, having wanted to try James Sommerin's food for a long time, and we were not disappointed . From the welcome, to the food, service and wines, room, breakfast; everything thing was excellent . Brilliant Vespa martini to start off with, followed by delicious wines. We went a la carte, had the GBM pea starter and crab with cauliflower, had a cheeky lobster middle course which was the standout dish. The beef and the chicken were both top notch, as was the cheese selection and the raspberry soufflé

16/03/2019: Really good atmosphere and a lovely, relaxed place to have coffee or a meal. Pleasant, friendly stafff.
16/03/2019: Yes I am a fan of this local and independently run restaurant. But it is because it keeps doing things well.

The Windsor Restaurant & Tea Rooms Penarth

Caffe Nero

Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan
20/12/2018: I’m not generally a lover of chain coffee shops
22/10/2018: Not to mention a great outdoors space where you can sit and watch the world go by in the sunshine - even dog friendly both inside and out. Given it's a chain, you wouldn't really know!

Il Vesuvio

Llantwit Major, The Vale of Glamorgan
17/02/2019: Fantastic meal last night proper authentic Italian food, friendly staff ,and owners ,would definitely return and recommend to others
29/12/2018: Visited with the family on Christmas Eve. I had the il Vesuvio pizza. I can honestly say it was the best pizza I’ve ever eaten. Added to that the friendly staff and feel of the restaurant- it was a top evening.

Compass Coffee

St. Augustine's, The Vale of Glamorgan
11/03/2019: We walked from Mermaid Quay a cross the barrage about 2 miles and stopped here for lunch. It was warm enough to sit outside next to the marina and enjoy a light lunch with coffee, both of which were excellent. A good place to stop if doing the walk right round the bay.
11/02/2019: Once again The Galley and it’s crew knock it out of the park! Excellent breakfast and coffee. I had the First Mate breakfast - perfect for a sunny cold Penarth morning!

Pier 64

St. Augustine's, The Vale of Glamorgan, 30-45£
12/03/2019: Lovely smart venue great location staff friendly and accommodating food mixed reviews but manager handled the situation very well expensive for what was on the menu. Top marks to the lovely servers!!
11/03/2019: I visited the restaurant a week before to discuss my fathers requirements . He is a war veteran , Cardiff city supporter and a very proud man and I wanted him to have a special night . I asked for a small bright table and requested he had small food portions due to his age as he worry about food waste ( We would be happy to pay full price ) Was advised all on the computer and no problem. I was told no need to bring a cake as they would arrange a special birthday card which did not happen.

The Plug

Dinas Powys, The Vale of Glamorgan
06/03/2019: The coffee is amazing, the people, the atmosphere and music even better! Homemade sausage rolls to die for. Always a warm welcome.
16/02/2019: My wife had been on about going here for lunch for some time so popped in yesterday. Was starving and when saw the menu, thought we'd made a mistake. The selection of food is very small and mainly consists of something on toast.
