Read's Restaurant

Watling, Swale
18/06/2018: What a lovely place! The food is exquisite and the waiters very knowledgeable about what wines to drink with your diner choice. The taster menu was absolutely lovely. We’ll come again thankyou
13/06/2018: Lovely courtyard for before dinner drinks some of the seating more comfortable than others. Food was a mixture of excellent and very ordinary. The bread and deserts were very good and the service mostly good. The pate starter was tasteless and served with one piece of toasted brioche. My main course was a small sliced duck breast slightly tough and once again lacked seasoning the bean cassoulet was OK. The raspberry soufflé was a triumph probably the best I’ve eaten. Overall I considered the meal overpriced at £32 compared with the quality etc at Chewton Glen . This was not our first visit to Reads but I did not feel that the food today lived up to it’s past reputation.

The Plough Inn at Lewson Street

Teynham and Lynsted, Swale
09/06/2018: Visited this evening for a meal.lovely pub, meal was beautifully cooked and presented, staff were friendly, informative, all in all I highly recommend this restaurant/pub . You won’t be disappointed.
03/06/2018: Obwohl es Personal-Probleme in der Küche gab und nicht die ganze Speisekarte angeboten werden konnte, war es wieder ein Erlebnis:

The Three Tuns

Iwade and Lower Halstow, Swale
16/06/2018: We've been here twice now, both times we sat in the garden and had something to eat. Really lovely food, friendly staff and as it's a freehouse there's always a new beer to try. We will be back!
15/06/2018: This is our favourite place locally for lunch. Food is always excellent! Varied menu and food is always fresh and hot. A big bonus is that dogs are welcome and our boy always gets a treat from the staff when we go. The only downside...

The Carpenters Arms

East Downs, Swale
08/06/2018: We visited for Lunch with friends we were given a very warm welcome and quickly shown to our table, menu offered and drinks order taken. They had the usual pub favourites but also a variety of dishes you would expect in a top restaurants. We lunch out on on average four time a week and I would put The Carpenters in the top five in Kent. All our dishes were delicious and would highly recommend you to eat here. I would like to make a special mention of the young Spanish waiter he could not have been more attractive and our wives thought he was charming, we will certainly be going back.
04/06/2018: This is a Shepard Neame pub in the village of Eastling. We went here for an evening meal, and found the atmosphere of the pub welcoming as were the hosts John an Amy, who were very polite and attentive.

The Plough Inn

East Downs, Swale, <20£
19/06/2018: The menu is a bit eclectic (some pub standards, but Chicken & Wild Garlic Wellington?), and as it's cooked to order things can be a bit slow.
17/06/2018: Stayed here as has a camper van and caravan field. Food was very very good and there was a great selection of beer and spirits. The van field had lovely views over fields , no faculties other than those in the pub. We stayed for live music outside in the beer garden which ended up being very good and we will definitely keep a look out for other events here. Staff were excellent throughout. The journey out is slightly off the beaten track and very lovely in itself. Would highly recommend a visit.

The Yard

Abbey, Swale
20/06/2018: Turned up for a Saturday morning breakfast on a recommendation from a friend, greeted with the aroma of great coffee and the sight of mouthwatering bakes, scored a table in the rear garden in the glorious Kent sunshine.
17/06/2018: Very disappointed. Phoned a month before we visited to book & ask about the menu as I am Vegan, was promised had a wide selection. Visited today group of 7 for Father's day. Very cramped environment. Menu was either Breakfast or Sandwiches. They had run out of mushrooms so had to wait a long time. Staff were lovely & price was good. Would not visit again though.

Three Horseshoes

Boughton and Courtenay, Swale, <20£
23/04/2018: We were overdue for a return to our Birth Place. Last time the Goat Curry was great. Thus we needed another treat and it was a Punjabi Chicken Curry this time. Hit the spot in more ways than one. Plus good Beer as normal with great service from the fun, charming, helpful and efficient staff. On street parking is normally fine. They have some great music sessions and special events. The most famous being the wheelie Bin races about July time I think. Keep eye open for the event its good fun and amazing Bin conversions. We have seen steam engines and all sorts. Plus costumes can be outrageous. A great local. Highly recommended. We will be back. Check their site for info.
14/02/2018: Lovely historic local, great local beers and always welcoming. Well priced home made pub food always good.

The Sun Inn Restaurant

St Ann's, Swale
13/06/2018: My second trip exploring faversham so wanted to try a few pubs hadn’t been to yet! I’m not sure what I was expecting but it beat all expectations.

The Red Lion

West Downs, Swale
12/06/2018: Excellent Food , starters (Pate' , Pea & Mint Soup ) outstanding , then Rib-eye Steaks both perfectly cooked to our tastes . The Food never a disappointment, always delivers.
30/05/2018: We’d not visited The Red Lion for several years - not sure why - but we enjoyed a superb dinner there last Friday. The service was first class - friendly and attentive - and the food simply superb. It’s true that the decor could probably do with a little attention but the cuisine more than makes up for that. We’ll certainly be returning before too long and will be happy to recommend in the meantime.

The Dairy

Boughton and Courtenay, Swale, 20-30£
19/06/2018: We’d been here before and were a bit disappointed, mainly with the service, so was some time before we chose to try again. Much happier this time and would recommend a visit.
17/06/2018: We visited the Dairy on our way to stay in Kent on holiday, being encouraged by the great reviews on Tripadvisor - and we were not disappointed! The staff were very warm friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble and the service was very prompt and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious - we had chicken in a cream and wholegrain mustard sauce and it was cooked beautifully and really tasty. There are some very tempting puddings - we sampled the apple and sultana sponge and the sticky toffee - both were scrumptious. We enjoyed it so much, we made a return visit on our trip back and sampled the filet steak - which was cooked to perfection and the cheesecake, again all first class. We highly recommend a visit to the Dairy - it has wonderful staff, ambience and food - you will want to return.

Plough & Harrow

14/06/2018: We walked in on Friday evening with no booking, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was excellent, and reasonably priced. Will definitely return with family and friends.
12/06/2018: We had a lovely family meal here no complaints at all. We adults had the Meze and was so full after defiantly worth the money. The kids meals are huge and went down a treat. Being half Greek i know my Greek food and i can say its spot on and the quality of produce was excellent. We will be back.

Tudor Rose

Borden, Swale
18/06/2018: Since Sheppard mean has taken over this pub it has gone down hill rapidly altho the carvery is good it is expensive but there everyday menu for the conservatory is boring and repetitive
15/06/2018: Me and my family have visited a few times now on a Sunday and it is one of the best Sunday lunches we have had. There is so much of it and at a great price. Staff are very attentive and food is always served with a smile.

Hartlip, Newington and Upchurch, Swale
15/06/2018: WoW amazing time, Very attentive The Prosseco brunch felt special, Couldn't wish for a better venue to meet friends. Thank You
10/06/2018: Been here more times than I can count and I’m certainly not stopping! The food is excellent and there’s such a variety - bottomless Prosecco brunch on a Saturday is definitely a great start to the weekend! Highly recommend to anyone - there’s something for everyone!

The Three Mariners

Teynham and Lynsted, Swale
19/06/2018: Well I have to say it's not as good as it was the last time I was here. But the food is very good. The staff are really helpful. Good selection of beers. And some great seating out side on the decking.
19/06/2018: We visited the Three Mariners for dinner last week. I agree with an earlier review that the food was not as good as we experienced a couple of years ago, nevertheless it was still in the main good cooking. It worked out about £25 a head which was not bad for the quality of the menu. You would pay the same for eating at a chain restaurant where the quality of the food would not be half as good. Belly of Pork was delicious, as was the vegetarian gnocchi. For the desserts the Venetian bread and butter pudding, the Chocolate Fondant and textures of chocolate were all delicious.
