Restaurant 27

St Jude, Portsmouth, 60-100£
28/08/2018: I think this must be one of the best in whole of Hampshire has to offer....The moment we stepped into the restaurant one would think you could be anywhere in central London!
27/08/2018: We had a warm welcome and seated quickly. We chose the 10 course tasting menu and everything was lovely from the drinks to the perfect food and each course was explained. The restaurant ran like clockwork, however we didn't once feel we were being rushed. Can fully recommend.

Cheese & Cheers

St Jude, Portsmouth, >100£
16/08/2018: Popped into this little shop in Southsea whilst on a day trip from our holidays on the Isle of Wight. Menu is limited and all French cheese based. To be honest I loved it and my wife hated it. Food was superb and service excellent. One for the maybe again list.
16/08/2018: Cheese and Cheers is a lovely little restaurant. We asked a member of staff for advice on what to order, he was extremely friendly and helpful, making sure the cheese they were going to bring out to us was to our preference and taste. The cheeses came out on one big board with meats, chutneys and other garnishes. We also had basket of white and brown bread which were delicious and soft. When the cheese came out a lady talked us through what each cheese was, where it originated from and what order to eat it in for the best taste. All the cheese we tried were delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant not only for the quality of the food but also because of the attentive and welcoming staff.

29/08/2018: Thank you so much to all the staff at Agora.

Sant-Yago

St Jude, Portsmouth, 20-30£
25/08/2018: 5 of us had a table full of lovely tapas. Interesting, well presented menu which would suit most palates. The atmosphere was great and the staff couldn't do enough for us. This is a hidden gem in Southsea. I can't fault it.
19/08/2018: Tapas was divine, more than enough. We chose the 20£ per head and had some fancy 2-1 cocktails. Great atmosphere and the duck waffle, divine.

The Wellington

St Thomas, Portsmouth, <20£
27/08/2018: From start to finish could not fault this place. Mario the manager made us feel like VIPs and went out of his way to accommodate us. The food and wine was 1st class, along with the evening entertainment of live backing music. I would most certainly recommend this place to those looking for a cosy but sophisticated evening. Will definitely be back!
27/08/2018: The staff were brilliant and looked after all 13 of us really well. Food fantastic as usual look forward to going again

Bodrum Restaurant

Charles Dickens, Portsmouth
27/08/2018: We were in Portsmouth for one night and thanks to tripadvisor found this family run restaurant. Really good service, very good food especially the moussaka and lamb ribs. Freshly cooked, generous portions and good vale. Definitely well worth a visit.
22/08/2018: I don't understand the good reviews. Must be a lot of advertising in it.

St Jude, Portsmouth
15/08/2018: I have waited a long time to come to this restaurant and was not dissappointed. The food was all very lovely and tasty and well timed. Never felt rushed and the staff were polite and attentive. I would highly recommend Sopranos and will definitely be eating here again. Be sure to book in advance as it gets booked up quickly
12/08/2018: A place to meet friends. Tasty food and a fun atmosphere. We were able to sit and have a drink before we were shown to our table.

Spinnaker Cafe

St Thomas, Portsmouth, <20£
17/08/2018: Welcoming cafe in Old Portsmouth. Parking could be problematic in the height of summer but worth the effort. Two or three tables in the street and comfortable seating inside. Freshly cooked breakfast (all day) and sandwiches, paninis, home-made cakes, jacket potatoes and a kids menu as well. Excellent value.
16/08/2018: It's a cafe. The sort of thing you might find on any sea front or parade. It has all the necessary cafe features and functions, a fair menu, a good range of cakes and all types of soft and hot drinks. It does what it has to do, does it well, is clean and the service is just fine. In fact the service is better than just fine, it's very good.

The Kitchen

St Jude, Portsmouth
30/04/2018: We stayed at the nearby Statton Hotel which is part of the same group (The Mercer Collection) and so we wanted to try this fine dining restaurant option. My husband has quite a few dietary needs so I rang ahead a week prior and the lady I spoke to over the phone was brilliant. She took time to take down our requirements and even called back to check some details to ensure all my husband's needs could be met.
29/04/2018: Delightful, welcoming front of house lady Delicious food , really cleverly presented and tasty to die for

Pie and Vinyl

St Thomas, Portsmouth
19/08/2018: First time here and we thought it was great. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the place had a nice vibe. The main reason for going was record shopping but being able to also sit and have a delicious pie was an added bonus. We both thought our pies and mash were very tasty and I also enjoyed my cream soda served out of an old ceramic teapot. We will be back I’m sure.
12/08/2018: Smells a bit like boiled cabbage when you first walk in. Kind of cool decor, walls filled with 'stuff' and good music. The smaller tables at the back of the cafe are a bit uncomfortable as you can't fit your legs under them but we moved to another table when it came available. We paid just over £27 for 2 hot chocolates, 2 pies and 3 sides (mustard mash, sweet potato mash and mushy peas). Our drinks hadn't arrived 20 minutes after ordering as they had forgotten. When they did arrive they weren't great, just tasted like warm milk and definitely not worth £3.50 each. Pies were tasty and had a good amount of filling however they did serve us the wrong pie. We ate it anyway as we were so hungry and didn't want to wait any longer. We noticed another couple were also not happy by how long they had to wait for their food.

Southsea Coffee Co

St Jude, Portsmouth, <20£
08/08/2018: There are too many good snack options. My lady can’t eat gluten so we seldom scan find any more than one or two treats. Here there are more options than we could imagine and all look great. Enjoying the vegan gf chocolate raspberry cheesecake right now and it’s delectable. The coffee is also very good and so is the service.
07/08/2018: This lovely coffee house situated in Osbourne Road is lovely to idle away a few hours, people watching or to have a quick bite to eat.

Shenanigans Irish Cafe

St Jude, Portsmouth
26/08/2018: Popped in for a couple of drinks yesterday.
20/08/2018: Sunday morning. You had a lie in. You fancy a late, lazy breakfast with friends. Maybe you had a few drinks last night and you want comfort food, something tasty and satisfying. Look no further than Shenanigans. You can get a traditional full monty or veggie breakfast but the three of us went for something with an Irish twist and chose soda farls and a breakfast boxty (homemade potato pancake). We added a couple of 'extras' in the form of a little haggis/black pudding and loved every mouthful. The coffee's good too. Guiness optional!

Havant Tandoori

Cosham, Portsmouth
16/08/2018: This restaurant produces excellent flavours in their dishes, not just the standard curry flavour. They are also very willing to “spice up”, or “spice down” their standard menu to suit you (even added fruit to my dish). Only soft drinks are available on site but you are warmly invited to bring your own wine/beer with you and there is no “uncorking” cost.. You’ll enjoy your visit to this friendly Tandoori.
28/05/2018: Had a takeaway which I loved from this restaurant when at my daughters. Went on Friday with my sister and husband and loved my meal plus all the others I had a try of. The main dishes come in attractive lidded pots. You take your own drink at this restaurant which made the meal so much cheaper too. Will be having my takeaways from here in future. They did warn us that it could take an hour ,just need to order earlier no problem

Montparnasse

St Jude, Portsmouth, 45-60£
31/08/2018: Restaurants come and go, but very few are as consistently good as Montparnasse. The intimate setting of the restaurant, combined with a warm welcome, all add to a great ambience when wanting to enjoy great food and wine. Very attentive service, always quick with the little things such as bread and water, and a good selection on the menu. Our recent visit for a special occasion was excellent, with a wide ranging menu, very good food, and a great wine list to choose from. Recommended for any special occasion or just when you want to treat yourself to delicious food with friends.
30/08/2018: We here on the 10th August for my birthday.
