St Jude, Portsmouth, 60-100£
10/03/2019: This was our second visit and having recently changed to a vegetarian diet I was amazed by this menu. Who knew vegetarian food could taste so delicious? Highlight was the pumpkin and thyme risotto. The whole experience was faultless - great staff, atmosphere and, of course, the food. Now can't wait for the Spring menu!
03/03/2019: I booked here for my partners and my own birthday whilst visiting family in Portsmouth. Never even knew this place existed but was recommended it. We had an amazing menu full of small but filling dishes. My favourite was the sea bass and my partner loved the steak. The service was impeccable and we even tried our first Romanian wine and it was delicious. We will be coming back the next time we visit!!

St Jude, Portsmouth
13/03/2019: We went for an early dinner, pre theatre . The staff were friendly, and the food superb. The restaurant was just about full when we left at 7:15 on a cold March evening, that tells you how much the locals love Soprano's
12/03/2019: 4 of us visited Sopranos whilst staying in Portsmouth for the weekend. We were initially disappointed after reading all the great Trip Advisor reviews and then unable to get a table on Friday night! So we opted for an early table on glad we did!

The Wellington

St Thomas, Portsmouth, <20£
19/03/2019: Quiet when visited, never the less, welcoming.Food good, ambience good, the establishment had a cosy and comfortable feel about it.Music at weekends, clientele a mix of locals and visitors especially in the holiday season.Slightly away from the water front but all the better for that.
17/03/2019: We went here intending to eat but thought the menu was expensive. The drinks were well priced and the real ales kept very well. Comfortable seats, but limited space.

Cheese & Cheers

St Jude, Portsmouth, >100£
08/03/2019: Visited here again last month as we had won a competition for a free breakfast last year and really loved it. Again, we were not disappointed. Such a lovely and different breakfast, Everything is so fresh and presented very well. The sweet french toast is delicious and we ordered extra! I can see there have been a few bad reviews on here lately which is a shame. This is a lovely little restaurant. Something very different. Yes it is a little expensive but that is because it is quality food, all cooked fresh. The cheeses and wine come from France, not the local supermarket. Its not somewhere we go often, but as french food lovers, it's a real treat. The only thing I would say would be that it would have been nice to have some calm French music on in the background. The music choice was a little strange and heavy for that time of the morning. All in all though it s lovely place and we will certainly be back!
03/03/2019: Persuaded my friends to try this restaurant. Didn’t check the prices (are they even online? Site was not mobile friendly so couldn’t see) but as it was my birthday I thought it’d be ok - something different for a special occasion. The fondue is £18pp (far too much for a few bits of baguette to dip in cheese) and the cheese board itself in this pic wasn’t really enough to feed one mouse, let alone 7 of us. See scale of cheese samples vs small cherry tomato. Why didn’t we order more? Well, we wrongly assumed for the price that it would be substantial. We paid for extra cornichons and as you can see in the photo, we were given just 2 of these on the board. The wine starts at £27 per bottle. We had to book at 5.30pm or 9.30pm as it’s a small place and very popular - I can only assume this is with first time diners like us or far richer repeat customers. I had to have some toast when I got in as I was still hungry. Also, the atmosphere was lacking and we had to ask for music. The French owner kept replying to me in English which was annoying as I went there to speak French Quelle domage fromage!

Bodrum Restaurant

Charles Dickens, Portsmouth
19/03/2019: Nice place to eat in good Turkish food. I went with my colleague after work and they all love it. Portions were huge.
19/03/2019: I came here for a friends birthday. We were warmly greeted and sat at a beautiful long table. The entertainment was great and it was such a fantastic atmosphere. Lovely music playing and easy conversation with delicious food and drinks. Definitely a place for a party and chill out.

St Jude, Portsmouth
14/03/2019: Very friendly restaurant serving very tasty beautifully presented food. Do not hesitate to book here, you won't be disappointed.
10/03/2019: 15 of us had dinner on a Friday night at this Greco Turkish restaurant.

Beckett's Wine Bar

St Thomas, Portsmouth
15/03/2019: Arrived to stay overnight for work. I was greeted within seconds, shown to my stunning Room ( No.3). Once settled I was given a glass of prosecco on the house. The room had an amazing bed, stunning linen, huge tv, underfloor heating in the bathroom and a brilliant rain shower.
11/03/2019: We stayed for 1 night in one of the 6 six rooms at a Becketts. We were in room 6 which is at the top of the house so you don’t get any foot traffic passing the room. The room was really well decorated, plenty of light and had the most comfortable bed !

St Jude, Portsmouth, 20-30£
10/03/2019: I’d heard Sant yago is good, so booked for Friday night treat with family and friends. Had trouble booking, as there is no online booking service, or email address, so I had to keep calling until I eventually got through. I was pleased that I received a confirmation of booking call, because when I’d got through to make booking, it was extremely busy and I was unsure if my call had been heard.
20/02/2019: My wife has visited many times before but this was my first visit. Simply wow! The food was superb. Think we chose 8 tapas dishes which turned out to be our limit as we were well and truly full. We had just enough room for a dessert which once again blew us away. A memorable visit with quality food and a lovely ambience. Highly recommended.

St Jude, Portsmouth, 45-60£
19/03/2019: I booked this delightful restaurant for my friend's low key hen do on recommendations of many Portmuthians. I was warmly greeted Nd offered a delicious cocktail before perusing the menu. It was tricky to pick which courses and which food but after much deliberation I managed it. I was not disappointed. The food was stunning to look at and delicious and filling. A true experience in a beautiful setting.
15/03/2019: This restaurant is a real hidden gem! The service is excellent, the venue is lovely; however, the food is simple excellent! Wild garlic amouse bouche! What is not to love! The speciality breads were fantastic! I had the lamb, which was simply awesome. My partner had the bream fillet, of which I tried some which was incredible based on what I tried! I’m definitely heading back to this restaurant! Why wouldn’t I?

Havant Tandoori

Cosham, Portsmouth

16/02/2019: The Irish breakfast was my choice, which was cooked as I requested, with sausage and bacon well done. I had never had White Pudding, and would not seek it out, but if offered it is a tasy change. The meal arrived quickly and along with the others ordered. Better half had the potato pancake with a breakfast inside, which was different, but was enjoyed. The mondter ate his, and then scrounged from our plates. What 14 year old doesn’t do that when they have enjoyed something. It makes a change to go out for breakfast to a cafe of any type and be able to pay using a card. Other places always have a sign stating the machine is broken, and cash only. Strange that the signs sre fading with sunlight. So that was a pleasant change.

Istanbul Restaurant Barbeque

St Jude, Portsmouth
14/02/2019: Another short break in Portsmouth and yet another visit to this fabulous restaurant . Why would we ever go elsewhere ?
13/02/2019: Excellent menu choices. Love the BBQ Kalamari which is grilled whole and stuffed with prawns, vege and rice. Another perfect chouce is the Prawn Guveq- layers of aubergine, courgettes and prawns all smothered in a cheesy garlic sauce. We were brought a slice of cake with a candle which was a nice touch for my husband after donning some fez hats as it was his birthday. The pistachio turkish delight given at the end with the bill is delicious.

The Kitchen

St Jude, Portsmouth

The Eastney Tavern

Eastney and Craneswater, Portsmouth
19/03/2019: Wow ! What a fantastic Sunday lunch ! Plenty of fresh home cooked good quality food ! Staff were very polite and a nice atmosphere ! Only downside is you have to book in plenty of advance as it’s a busy restaurant but worth the wait !
19/03/2019: We went to the Eastney Tavern to celebrate my wife's birthday. Great food, attentive, efficient, friendly staff and a reasonable price. Would throughly recommend the puds. Go try it.
