Verveine Fishmarket Restaurant

Milford, New Forest, 45-60£
11/03/2020: A sublime experience from service execution to the gastronomic delight of the food. We enjoyed the 6 course taster lunch and were returning with family who we were keen to introduce to this delightful restaurant. We were not disappointed with our recommendation and the team delivered their usual excellence. The taster menu is a superb experience and the mystery of what you will receive adds to the experience. It also introduces you to fish dishes which you might not order but yet are superbly crafted. Make no mistake this is the restaurant experience to beat in the central South. Well done the team at Verveine!
11/03/2020: Went here for my wife's birthday and had a quite superb lunch and dining experience. The service was exemplary and the choice for food served was sublime. We decided to leave the choice of food to the staff as this is one of their specialities (tell them any allergies and things you don't care for and leave the rest to them). I would recommend this to anyone, the selection of food ingredients was adventurous, unconventional but boy did they deliver - on every course. To top it all the final bill was extremely good value for money. We are already setting down plans to return. We drove a 170 mile round trip to eat here and it was worth every mile!

The London Tavern

Ringwood North, New Forest
16/03/2020: Went for Sunday roast and booked a 5pm table. Enjoyed roast beef with all the trimmings followed by apple and rhubarb crumble - amazing cauliflower cheese! Whilst eating watched an amazing singer Acoustic set and then entered the sunday meat draw at 7pm and won a gammon joint. We travel 1 hr to visit this pub regularly as the food, staff and general ambience is everything we want. A great pub
14/03/2020: The pub has the perfect combination of a friendly local pub with high quality food of a high end restaurant.

The Elderflower Lymington

Lymington Town, New Forest
18/03/2020: The Elderflower as ever lived up to our expectations. We have regularly lunched /dined there over the past couple of years. Sunday lunch tasting menu was superb, - crab, cod, pork belly and of course the wonderful soufflé, and the staff are delightful. I am glad they are exploring all the menu options in these difficult times. I will certainly continue to support this team.
17/03/2020: A friend and I met for lunch here, as we have before. I chose St Austell Bay Mussels with Frites, which were nice. My friend had Crab, Scallop and Lobster Lasagne which looked lovely, if small, for £28.50. I was surprised that they charged her extra for a slice of baguette. Service was excellent. I’d like to come back for dinner.

Peggy Mays Cafe

Lyndhurst, New Forest, <20£
15/03/2020: Amazing dog friendly place, we came in on a rainy day and had cream teas all round. Good service and friendly staff.
10/03/2020: This is a lovely cafe in Lyndhurst, offering a good selection of sandwiches and lunch items. Service was good and food was very tasty.

The Monkey House

Buckland, New Forest, >100£
08/03/2020: What a roast!! We went as a large party for my sister-in-laws birthday. Everyone’s food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. Highly recommend. Just fantastic. Lovely pub!!
07/03/2020: We phoned on the spur of the moment and were able to get a table for 19:45 on Friday evening.

Lymington Town, New Forest
09/02/2020: My wife and I were staying in Lymington and we looking for a local restaurant for an evening meal. We were recommended Lanes by a shopkeeper and after hearing her glowing report we just had to try it. And Boy are we glad we did! Nicola is a perfect hostess and greeted us like old friends. This is so nice to see these days. You are dealing with someone who obviously loves the restaurant and is an absolute pleasure to talk to about the history of the restaurant and its superb food. My wife and I shared an Avocado cheesecake as a starter - sublime. My wife had Collops of monkfish which she was overjoyed with and I had the Guinea Fowl which I can safely say was the best that I had ever eaten. The red pepper sauce was to die for! We finished with Wild Berry Charlotte and Lemon and Lime Syllabub. The presentation of the desserts was show stealing and the taste divine. Total cost with a glass of red wine and a Maciato was £72 which we both felt was amazing value. This is a restaurant where the staff are justifiably proud of their food and the dining experience.
02/02/2020: We had a fabulous dinner here during our weekend break to Lynmington. Very friendly service. A fantastic menu which made it very difficult to choose. Everything was delicious and impressively presented!

The Village Coffee Pot

Milford, New Forest, <20£
09/03/2020: The gentle babble of customers can break out into infectious laughter at times and you know they feel very comfortable in their surroundings. The cafe looked so pretty this morning with the table flowers and a welcome greeting from Leslie and Alex as we went through the door. Coffee is spot on and the 'medium' (breakfast) and tea cake just the thing on a Monday morning.
07/03/2020: Went in for breakfast, good menu and extra specials such as bubble n squeak. Really lovely ladies that are welcoming and friendly running it. Chose the veggie breakfast which was the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time, really good and my friend loved her large breakfast too, she said bacon n sausage was delicious. Paid £8 each and worth every penny with toast and drink. Definitely nicest cafe in Milford!

La Perle

Milford, New Forest
03/03/2020: We went to celebrate my wife's birthday and, by coincidence, it was 'Tasting Tuesday'.
02/03/2020: We ate again at La Perle on Sunday after seeing that they had a jazz Sunday lunch advertised. So very glad we did it was such a lovely meal and the Jazz duo lady and gentleman were brilliant. Compliments yet again to the Chef as the food was excellent and must also mention the staff who were so pleasant and attentive.

Inger-lises Coffee Bar

Milford, New Forest
21/02/2020: Exceptional food. Lovely atmosphere and great service. Our food was exceptional. Very fresh ingredients prepared with skill and knowledge. Delicious. A rare treat to find such quality. Also great coffee. Highly recommended.
18/02/2020: Lovely place! Family friendly! Great Smoothies :-) would visit again any time. Friendly staff. Comfortable and nice!

The Cartwheel Inn

Downlands and Forest, New Forest, <20£
12/03/2020: We took a group of 18 walkers for lunch. The management were very accommodating allowing us to pre order our meals on the day of the walk and use their toilets etc. On returning from our walk, no sooner had we sat down than piping hot food appeared. The service was excellent although our waitress admitted it was her first day! A great venue, good food, excellent service and a good car park! Thoroughly recommended. We need to find another walk in the area!
08/03/2020: Fantastic warm welcome, great hospitality and an exceptional pint of real ale. Great selection of local real ale Quadhop from Downton brewery was just perfect.

The Trusty Servant

Bramshaw, Copythorne North and Minstead, New Forest, <20£
16/03/2020: We have stayed here a few times and as expected this weekends stay was as great as ever.
12/03/2020: We stopped off for lunch last week

The Thai Corner Restaurant

Dibden and Hythe East, New Forest, 20-30£
03/03/2020: Good selection from the menu. Order taken in good time and food was delivered promptly. Meal was very tasty and drinks were replenished quickly too
22/02/2020: Visited this restaurant for the first time for a Saturday lunch with my husband and Dad. Food and drinks served in a very friendly and timely manner. The starters were good mussels and chicken livers. My Dad had the hot and sour duck which he enjoyed. My husband had the parang with chicken. The chicken was tender but the sauce was a little lacking in flavour. My green curry with prawns had a lovely flavour, however, the aubergine was missing. I did mention this but nothing was said. The desserts were excellent, sticky toffee pudding and banana fritters. We would visit again as overall we really enjoyed our visit.

The Three Tuns Inn

Bransgore and Burley, New Forest
17/03/2020: I have spent much of my life travelling back to my home town of Christchurch in Dorset and am so pleased how well Nigel and his crew have managed to bring the Tuns to rise well above the field in terms of quality and service. Well done, keep it up.
14/03/2020: I had good expectations following my previous visit where the food and service were commendable. This time round the worm had turned to my disappointment. I visited with my father and started the meal with the pubs self proclaimed ‘worlds best snails’ which tasted bland and rubbery without any real flavour.

The Cliff House Restaurant

Barton, New Forest
12/03/2020: Three of us ate lunch on Monday, food was excellent as was the service. Christophe in particular developed a rapport with us and took out an umbrella to one of our party who had decided to brave the rain for a ‘fire stick’ outside. All in all we were extremely satisfied. I bet in the summer it is a lovely spot.
11/03/2020: Had 2 course deal and it was very good. Meal was hot and tasty. Would recommend the restaurant.

Les Mirabelles Restaurant

Bramshaw, Copythorne North and Minstead, New Forest
10/03/2020: Lovely location and perfect if you're looking to do some walking in the forest. Food quality, presentation and flavours were excellent. The meals we had were excellent as well, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Would definitely return if we are ever in the area.
28/02/2020: This french restaurant set in a delightful location on The New Forest provided us with a delicious two course lunch. The wine list proved somewhat challenging to navigate which was surprising as the owners pride themselves on their extensive range. Regrettably the waiting staff did not exude warmth and some of our party felt somewhat patronised. However, if you can accept a somewhat less than friendly service, the food is worth the visit.
