The Yew Tree Inn

Boxley, Maidstone
19/03/2019: What an absolute little gem of a place. Tucked away through the lanes. Great roast dinner and excellent service here. Could not fault it. The portion was excellent for the money. Will definitely go back
19/03/2019: A table was booked for a Saturday evening at 6pm. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was of very good standard & the portion sizes were very good. We ordered a mixture of starters , mains & puddings , all very good. A larger selection of Vegetarian & Vegan dishes wouldn’t go a miss in order to keep up with the changing demands, other than that, well worth a visit for families, solo, couples etc , nicely tucked away and I particularly liked the rabbits in the front garden under the tree. Very cute.

La Taberna

High Street, Maidstone
10/03/2019: Went for an amazing tapas last night, was just lovely. Felt like we were actually in Spain!! If you’re thinking of going here, definitely do it! You will not be disappointed. Staff are so friendly too. Love the fact that it is all family run and not a chain
10/03/2019: We had booked a table for 8pm, and when we arrived the table wasn’t ready. However we were seated on the sofas and offered drinks while we waited, as well as being given the menus to look at. We waited about 15 - 20 minutes for our table.

Narai Thai Palace

High Street, Maidstone
03/03/2019: The best place we have eaten Thai food outside of Thailand! Very authentic. The staff are very attentive and friendly.
17/02/2019: I visited this restaurant a couple of months ago, after booking a table for 18.30. As we were settling down on arrival, we were asked by one of the waitresses 'can you leave by 8?'. No please, no thank you, no explanation. I considered this very poor seeing as we had booked a table and had not been informed of this in advance. However, we were able to be finished 'in time', and as we had enjoyed the food, decided to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt a second time. We booked for a table for 19.00 for a special occasion last week. On arriving, we ordered two courses and wine, and on finishing these, were asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. When we declined this, we were presented with the bill before we had even asked for it. As we rounded up the evening and began to pay the bill, we were approached by the waitress again and asked 'can you leave as we have the table booked for 20.30'. Again, no please, no thank you, and no prior warning. We had declined desserts and coffee as above, but does this mean if we had agreed we would have been even more rushed due to the additional table booking? It seemed once we had spent all the money we planned that evening, they wanted us out. Extremely rude and poor treatment of paying customers. As we left, there was no acknowledgement of our custom or goodbye. We have also been to another Thai restaurant in Fremlin Walk, where the food is equally good and the staff much more respectful and obliging. We will be going there in future and not returning here.

The Kings Arms

Boxley, Maidstone, <20£
14/03/2019: We went to The Kings Arms ... as we do whenever we visit Boxley to see my ancestor’s church. I ordered the Daily Pie ... which was a delicious pork with mustard pie with chips and veg. The meal was done perfectly, but I decided to take about half home with me. I wanted to wrap it at the table and asked for a container or aluminum foil, but the waitress insisted on taking it back to the kitchen. She came back about 2 minutes later without my food!!! I was shocked ... she said that her manager had said that I could not take the pie home because it contained pork and that one could not reheat pork! I asked where my food was?!?! My food was not returned so that I continue to eat my meal. I asked for the bill ... when it was brought I asked to see the manager. She went into the kitchen and when she returned she asked what it was about because he was cooking ... I said it was about my food ... that I would have continued eating had I known. She went back into the kitchen and when she came back out she signaled that he was coming. When he did arrive ... he again told me that he could not allow pork or chicken to leave the restaurant that is was the law in England and that he could get sued and he could not afford that. I asked how other restaurants allowed me to take food? I asked about the rest of my food ... my chips, my veggies ... he asked what I wanted to make it right ... again, I asked about my meal. He finally decided that taking the price of my drink off (£2.40) was what he would do to compensate me for losing half of my £18.50 lunch. I wish I had demanded another meal ... I can not believe that a restaurant would take your food and not return it to you! As I told them ... I would have eaten more had I known.
12/03/2019: Great country pub, 4 of us just rolled up after 3 hrs on the motorway, We were welcomed by very courteous staff upon entering the pub. We only wanted baguettes each and some chips ( lunchtime ) but the variety of meals served around us all looked great, as did the options on the specials board. We sat next to the roaring real fire, and enjoyed a pint ( shandy for me ) and our meals. Though we only needed a " pit stop " before our onward journey, it was a pleasure to visit your pub. Food was brilliant and the staff a credit, we weren't local, but if we are down your way again a stop off at your pub would be a great idea. Keep up the good work :-)

Mu Mu

East, Maidstone, 20-30£
17/03/2019: What more can you want when you are treating your self to a pamper weekend after fabulous cocktails in the cocktail bar. The best gin and tonic fish and chips served inot the best location and the best service from the entire mu mu team
16/03/2019: I came for my birthday shenanigans with a group of gal pals and we were served by Mary Poppins. She was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Our whole meal plus unlimited Prosecco went down like a spoonful of sugar. We will 100% be back on another jolly holiday for another chim-chim-chiree cos we love to laugh when we step in time. I hope one day Mary will join us to go fly a kite. Thanks again for a fabulous fun experience.

The George Inn

Leeds, Maidstone
17/03/2019: Popped down this old pub for a meal and was delighted with the service and hospitality of the staff the food was spot on and a nice selection of ales
10/03/2019: It was a really good choice of venue for a works evening out. There is a lovely atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. Some nice choices for starter, mains and pudding. Several of us chose fajitas and they were delicious. The staff were happy to top up the ingredients for the wraps. Everyone was happy with their choices. The service was perhaps a little slow but it was very busy and as we were talking it didn't matter too much but I think if you were a couple it might have been more of a problem. It was a very enjoyable evening though and I would definitely go again.

The Blacksmiths Arms at Wormshill

North Downs, Maidstone
09/12/2018: We came from Suffolk to Kent for the weekend to visit friends (sons gf parents) so this was a late notice choice booked blind - the sat nav appears to have taken us through the country lanes ‘sleepy hollow style’ but the pub is well situated on the road with good parking and reasonably quiet. Entering takes you back centuries, hops on the beams, wood burner and antiques bric-à-brac hanging abound - some quirky pieces all labelled and priced we think for sale, clocks, porcelains, pictures. The menu has some great choices and specials ‘good wholesome food’ slow cooked lamb, brisket , fish, pork etc all served hot and with accompanying trays of properly cooked vegetables.
27/10/2018: Very large (too large in fact) portions of wholesome home cooked food but nothing extra special. The staff were "entertainingly inefficient". Overall rather pricey for an 'adequate' rather than special evening out.

The Plough at Langley

Bridge, Maidstone
15/03/2019: One of the best restaurants we’ve been too, the steak is amazing and cooked exactly how you like it!! Beautifully presented food and a lot of work put in from the chefs. The staff , Dawn, Mercedes and Becky were amazing, very friendly and welcoming and they couldn’t do enough for us. This is a great pub and restaurant, and if you visit Maidstone or live near here I would definitely recommend a visit, you will need to book as it’s very popular. Most definite a 10/10!!
12/03/2019: What a waste of time, ordered a starter with olive bread and came with a cheap French stick but worst of all, we both ordered Pork belly and got pork chops then they tried to justify that was a pork belly. I would avoid at all costs and being lied to is un-acceptable.

Frederic Cafe Bistro

High Street, Maidstone, <20£
08/03/2019: If you want to go somewhere that never disappoints, then Frederics is the place to go. Great service, great food and great ambiance.
08/03/2019: Went to cafe Fredric for the first time for a rare lunch for just the 2 of us, not a single child to slow us down! We had no reservation but were warmly welcomed and shown to table. The restaurant was busy but our orders were taken and quickly enough and we didn’t have to wait long for our orders. Croc monsieur and a smoked salmon tartine from the lunch menu both were delicious and generously filled.

09/03/2019: First and last visit, food was disgusting one of my party sent her main course back I tried to eat mine but it was like a plate of salt.
20/02/2019: Husband and I visited for a Wednesday lunchtime. Service was very friendly and efficient. All the food was tasty and cooked to perfection. Orchard sharing platter to start. Local duck breast and cod for the mains and the Raspberry Creme brûlée was the tastiest I’ve ever had. Will be returning again and would highly recommend.
