Ollivers Restaurant

Seaford Central, Lewes
18/12/2018: This place never disappoints! The owners have maintained constantly high standards of food and service for the past 15 years. This is the nearest thing to fine dining in the area. None of this modern overpriced arty farty food touched by who knows how many sweaty long haired chefs to make sure a minute portion of food looks "Fantastic?" on your plate.
02/11/2018: Long established restaurant in Seaford , excellent food, fantastic friendly service , have never been disappointed and have been there many times .

Church Lane Tea Room

Seaford Central, Lewes
03/12/2018: What a great find, we were told about this great cafe/tea room and we were not disappointed, we went the other day in the week and we had a very friendly greeting from the waitress and chef (he even had his name on his jacket!) we had a mixture of Benedict/Royals and Toasted Sandwiches with Tea (with strainer) great latte's and Capps. the waitress was very attentive and the chef brought out the dishes with a smile and served us with dressings, we couldn't manage any cakes but we were told that all the cakes and scones were home made, we will return!!!!!!!
17/11/2018: Often have coffee here and always like the atmosphere but yesterday we had lunch. Delicious toasted sandwiches on homemade flat bread served with a great salad. The Bakewell tart and the coconut and cranberry cakes were superb.

The Cock Inn

Ouse Valley and Ringmer, Lewes, 20-30£
10/12/2018: Amazing pub! Beautiful setting. Food is amazing with fab portion size. Staff are lovely and polite. Only down side is if you are going in the summer months! Inside of the pub gets extremely hot!
09/12/2018: We had an amazing meal from the Christmas menu today. Really great service in a lovely country pub. We will be back!!

Seaford Central, Lewes
10/11/2018: We popped in today to give the Sub-Station a try after seeing the reviews on trip advisor and were not disappointed. Daryl and his crew were very welcoming, especially as we turned up when they should have been closing, and gave us the best eating out experience ever. Not only were they charismatic and had us cracking up laughing, the food was totally amazing and really hit the spot. The coffee was the nicest i have had out for a long time and I now cant wait to go back and work my way through the rest of the menu. Thank you loads.
04/11/2018: Me and my boyfriend have always heard amazing things about sub station people always raving about it so we thought we would give it a try & wondered why we haven’t been there before . Amazing food and very friendly service . For a one man band he does a very good job and looks after his customers very friendly and chatty, foods spectacular and huge menu to choose from. Will definitely be returning

Padella D'oro

Newhaven Valley, Lewes
26/10/2018: On our way to the ferry at Newhaven, we wanted to eat so drove into Newhaven to see what was there. Saw a very small Italian and thought we'd give it a go. The food we had was amazing. Traditional Italian style pizza was fantastic. A great find, and we were told to book if we went back on a Friday or Saturday. We'll be going back for sure.
07/10/2018: Fantastic, family run little gem of a place. Fresh, tasty, truly authentic Italian food. Very friendly staff, amazing atmosphere. The specials board is well worth a look. I recommend it to an Italian friend and he loves it!

The Green Man

Ouse Valley and Ringmer, Lewes
04/01/2019: So I had the ribs. A full rack, with wings, rings, chips and salad. A monster meal. And for under £13 you almost can't say no. Also the banoffee pie was to die for (again giant). My only hesitation is that the ribs were just okay. I've had much better and these lacked something. But overall it's good quality meat/food at amazing prices and good service. Recommended .
03/01/2019: Stopped of here after an afternoon walk. Never been here before despite driving past for years. Still had it's amazing Christmas decorations up. Three of us had the Steak and Kidney pudding mash and veg,OMG I've never had such an amazing pudding absolutely fantastic.Staff were welcoming and cheery. Will definitely return.

Frankie's Beach Cafe

Seaford Central, Lewes
11/12/2018: A stroll along the promenade. Want a coffee and a piece of cake by the beach? This is absolutely the place to go.
09/10/2018: I'd been the told that the toasties at Frankies were good and I thoroughly agree. Had just completed a morning's walk with friends and we stopped here for a light lunch. My toasted sandwich had cheese ham tomato and red onion. Delicious. Great location on a nice day. Comfy deck chairs.

Roebuck Inn

Ouse Valley and Ringmer, Lewes
03/01/2019: Four real ales plus Budvar and Rothaus on draft, the Burning Sky Plateau (vegan) was particularly good
23/12/2018: Worth making a detour to find this pub. Quirky Steampunk decor with a decent menu and lots of choice. It is our local and when so many pubs are closing it is great to have this on the doorstep. The food is reliable and sourced locally. The beers are the best though - try Zamzama from the Gun Brewery or a pint of Aurora from Firle-based Burning Sky Brewery - but make sure your friend can drive you home.

Cup A Cabana

Seaford Central, Lewes
04/10/2018: We were recommended to visit this cafe, and we were not disappointed.A friendly welcome as soon as we stepped in ,all food cooked to a high standard. We will definitely return.
02/10/2018: Went there on a Saturday morning after a heavy night, found the staff to be very friendly, place was busy but well organized, ordered a big breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Left feeling very full.

The Abergavenny Arms

Kingston, Lewes, 20-30£
29/12/2018: Met up with friends just before Xmas for lunch and as we had not been there for many years thought we would visit the Abergavenny Arms again. I have to say we were not disappointed. The fixed price 2, or 3 course Xmas meal was excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and helpful and we will certainly be visiting again in the New Year. I recommend you give it a try.
28/12/2018: We visited for a quick lunch just after Christmas. I had read that this is not a family friendly pub as the landlord was not good with children but the place was very busy and there were two groups that included several young children all of whom were well behaved and quiet. Obviously the parents realised that others do not want to see and hear badly brought up brats screaming and running round when they are paying to eat out. We found the landlord to be friendly and welcoming and the food was absolutely fine, hot and tasty and there is a good selection of beers. We only had time for one course but will be back for an evening meal in the new year. Staff friendly and service perfectly acceptable. Yes is it is a little pricey but still in my view good value.

The Rights of Man Pub Lewes Sussex.

31/12/2018: Great pub and food. Booked for a busy Sunday and was very pleasantly surprised. Welcomed when we arrived and the service remained throughout the meal. Good to see that the kitchen and front of house were working as a team. Will certainly revisit.

Pelham Arms

Lewes Castle, Lewes
02/01/2019: We visited the Pelham Arms on Sunday for a family roast. The food and service was fantastic and genuinely cannot be faulted. The rest of the menu looks really good so will be returning very soon (without Children) to enjoy it even more.
08/12/2018: Lovely atmosphere, happy staff. Obviously popular with locals. Met up with friends, chose different burgers. All enjoyed food. Conversation lost on noise. Only one female toilet? Free parking opposite in County Hall grounds.

Lewes Bridge, Lewes
28/10/2018: Definitely visit here if you enjoy nice wine, cheese and charcuterie. The owner knows A LOT about wine and we went for his recommendation and loved it. A great atmosphere too. We went on A friday evening about 6pm and very lucky to get a table. Most were booked and I would recommend this to avoid being turned away. The mixed meat and cheese platter was great at £11. Delicious bread, oil too.
04/10/2018: It never seems packed, like wine bars used to be. And that's good. It gives you the chance to chat to the proprietors, who are happy to dispense from their vast knowledge as well as their very wide range of wines, that they know very well. Additionally, they have examples of gins, whiskies and some incredible sakes.
