Pelham Arms

Lewes Castle, Lewes
03/11/2018: Had a lovely meal in the restaurant side of this pub. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff and delicious food. Would like to see more gluten free dessert options as there is only one(and cheese) but not that exciting! Definitely go back though!
28/10/2018: 5 of us had dinner here recently. Well located in the centre of town. Nice atmosphere in the pub, with friendly staff and good service. Reasonable menu and wine list. Enjoyed the gravlax and smoked haddock, with good priced wines. Enjoyed it

25/10/2018: What a lovely charming little tea room in Church Lane, Seaford. Excellent friendly helpful staff. Nice menu. Great place for a coffee, relax and a chat. The cakes are brilliant, wholesome and tasty.
25/10/2018: We were lucky and had the last available table in this small, cosy cafe.

The Cock Inn

Ouse Valley and Ringmer, Lewes, 20-30£
31/10/2018: It was our first visit to this pub/restaurant and will not be our last, a friendly greeting upon our arrival drinks delivered to our table and our orders quickly taken with a minimum wait , extensive range of dishes plus a specials board, two of our party chose roast lamb, two selected chicken dishes while I and a friend chose liver, bacon and mash smothered in onion gravy and were not disappointed, lovely. Full plates of food cater for a bit appetite !. a very good choice of sweets, ices or cheese and biscuits to finish a excellent meal. Highly recommended.
31/10/2018: Stopped here on the way to Brighton in half term week. Most of the seating is away from the bar but it does mean it has a reasonable capacity. The menu had a wide range of choices however there was no sign of much on the lighter side such as sandwiches etc which was probably my only disappointment. That said there were some interesting items on the menu such a venison burger and boar and a chorizo burger. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The service was good and the food was very good - excellent chips. Overall I thought the prices were good.

Roebuck Inn

Ouse Valley and Ringmer, Lewes
04/11/2018: Had a lovely meal, food good and inexpensive, service ok but lovely atmosphere in the pub. Good choice of food on the menu and a large selection of starters. Great environment super choice of drinks , and does not break the bank.
29/10/2018: We had a large family Sunday lunch with nine of us. The room we dined in was the large hall to the side of the pub, very grand, avoid the wicker chairs though! The roasts were very good and came quite promptly. The staff were all friendly, but either it seemed to be their first day, or they were teenagers, and there was much confusion about what we were supposed to get for our money. I had to debate the young man serving our vegetables to persuade him that his 'one serving between two' formula didn't match the number he'd given us. Later when we ordered tea we were given a single small tea pot for three people which only had just enough tea for two cups. When I asked the young woman serving for more tea, she said they'd run out of tea pots! Eventually more tea appeared, but we shouldn't have had to argue for it.

Symposium

Lewes Bridge, Lewes
28/10/2018: Definitely visit here if you enjoy nice wine, cheese and charcuterie. The owner knows A LOT about wine and we went for his recommendation and loved it. A great atmosphere too. We went on A friday evening about 6pm and very lucky to get a table. Most were booked and I would recommend this to avoid being turned away. The mixed meat and cheese platter was great at £11. Delicious bread, oil too.
04/10/2018: It never seems packed, like wine bars used to be. And that's good. It gives you the chance to chat to the proprietors, who are happy to dispense from their vast knowledge as well as their very wide range of wines, that they know very well. Additionally, they have examples of gins, whiskies and some incredible sakes.

Frankie's Beach Cafe

Seaford Central, Lewes
09/10/2018: I'd been the told that the toasties at Frankies were good and I thoroughly agree. Had just completed a morning's walk with friends and we stopped here for a light lunch. My toasted sandwich had cheese ham tomato and red onion. Delicious. Great location on a nice day. Comfy deck chairs.
31/08/2018: Living near by I love to visit Seaford. Amazing toasties but I miss the bacon! Great value with free deckchairs. Lovely friendly staff who bring the sandwiches to you!

Sub-Station

Seaford Central, Lewes
04/11/2018: Me and my boyfriend have always heard amazing things about sub station people always raving about it so we thought we would give it a try & wondered why we haven’t been there before . Amazing food and very friendly service . For a one man band he does a very good job and looks after his customers very friendly and chatty, foods spectacular and huge menu to choose from. Will definitely be returning
27/10/2018: Possibly the greatest sub available on earth. Also inside comfy and comfy warm just like the sub. (Can also be cold...the sub ;)).

The Rights of Man Pub Lewes Sussex.

5 offers
Lewes Castle, Lewes, 20-30£
29/10/2018: Visited with a few friends, food was so tasty especially the sticky toffee! However the only bad thing was the bartender waitress she never smiled. Hence the 4 stars
28/10/2018: Went here for dinner on Friday night. The duck was amazing! Not really a fan usually but the reviews where good and I wasn't disappointed. We sat in the back and it was more a pub than a restaurant.

The Green Man

Ouse Valley and Ringmer, Lewes
27/10/2018: Excellent values or money. Portion sizes are great if you are a big eater. The steak & Stilton pie is delicious and the banoffee pie is amazing. You will not leave this pub hungry whatever you choose. Highly recommend.
10/10/2018: It is wonderful to go to a pub where you get fed so you are not left hungry after a meal! So many pubs have reduced portions and not worth the money, be assured the green man gives you a good meal and very good ingredients. Staff can’t do enough to please! Food was very hot and tasty. If we had to comment for an improvement it would be: tiger prawns in sweet chilli sauce, a compliment of a few prawn crackers on the side would make the starter first class for the money.

Padella D'oro

Newhaven Valley, Lewes
26/10/2018: On our way to the ferry at Newhaven, we wanted to eat so drove into Newhaven to see what was there. Saw a very small Italian and thought we'd give it a go. The food we had was amazing. Traditional Italian style pizza was fantastic. A great find, and we were told to book if we went back on a Friday or Saturday. We'll be going back for sure.
07/10/2018: Fantastic, family run little gem of a place. Fresh, tasty, truly authentic Italian food. Very friendly staff, amazing atmosphere. The specials board is well worth a look. I recommend it to an Italian friend and he loves it!

Le Magasin

Lewes Bridge, Lewes, >100£
27/08/2018: A rainy Sunday, a chance return to this small, untrumpeted cafe/restaurant. Two of us arrived just after noon, before they were officially due to start serving lunch. Most of the tables were occupied by Lewesians finishing their mid-morning coffee. We were made very welcome, promptly served with water, lunch menu and wine by a courteous waitress. We were lucky to have arrived ridiculously early as the local conoscenti arrived by the dozen over the next half-hour. My kohlrabi and red cabbage soup was excellent, the salmon crostini were generous with the fish and very good. Cake and coffee top notch. Crowded premises, buzzy atmosphere, limited menu, doesn't cost a fortune. Recommended.
26/08/2018: Always busy, always friendly and food always of a great quality, it’s a genuinely tragedy that it will permanently close September 1st.

The Abergavenny Arms

Kingston, Lewes, 20-30£
07/11/2018: We had a selection of yummy starters followed by Rib Eye steaks all cooked to perfection and were tasty and tender , a couple of us then enjoyed a very tasty dessert. A good selection of beers and wines were also available..
28/10/2018: Opened the restaurant for us as we arrived late. Three of us ate magnificently. Best pork belly in a long time, with tasty cabbage and mash (just perfectly cooked.) The onion soup went down well too. Would eat there again without hesitation. Friendly staff too. The Harvey's bitter is a further attraction.
