Truffles French Restaurant

Fareham East, Fareham, 20-30£
12/11/2018: The restaurant was cosy, but enough space between tables for private conversation. They had art for sale on the walls which made an interesting and colourful ambiance. Service was friendly and effiicient and when the starter arrived the hostess was able to describe the dish in detail. Presentation was very good, and the flavours exceptional, thought had been given to every dish. I had the vension which was cooked to perfection and very tender, my sister had lamb which she thoroughly enjoyed too.
09/11/2018: The food was delicious, tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. Lovely presentation and service. If this place was in London, it would have been heaving, extremely good value for the quality of the food we ate. Fareham, you are lucky to have this on your doorstep, make the most of it.

Nook And Cranny

Warsash, Fareham
12/11/2018: Very pricey. We were curious to see what it was like now. Had read good reviews however nobody mentioned the portion sizes, not enough food for a man. I personally had a nice meal but I like fish and wasn’t very hungry that night. Didn’t like that they apples a service charge automatically for a party of six, our service was no different to a party of four! Can’t see us revisiting anytime soon.
15/10/2018: Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here the food was amazing and the staff were efficient and helpful even swapping dishes for us .I will definitely return .

Villa Romana

Fareham East, Fareham
13/11/2018: This is the most magical restaurant. Every time we come here we are treated like family and made to feel special. Rico and Maurizio are so welcoming. The food is absolutely faultless consistently and this is one of our favourite places to eat. 10/10
06/11/2018: Friend took me here for a birthday meal my birthday was 24th of Oct, I was on annual leave from 27th of Oct. We visited on 29th Oct and we welcomed in, in a friendly manner. We had the lunch time menu. The non alcoholic drinks we had where refreshing we had another with our meal. My friend had roast pork and I had the duck in a redcurrant jiu which was absolutely gergoeous, if I had on criticism didn't think there was enough, potatoes and vegetables to share between two. The waiter was very intensive and made sure we where okay. without being too much. We had pudding I had the most delicious timiusu and my friend had profiteroles with ice cream.which she said was lovely. I'd definitely go back again. The waiter even said to me enjoy your birthday and enjoy the film and have a nice split time with your friend. we where going to see bohemian rhapsody. Yes my friend treated me to a meal and film I was made so welcomed I'd definitely come back to this restaurant.

Salt Cafe

Portchester East, Fareham
08/11/2018: We have come here often since this wonderful café opened. No longer living locally and this was a trip down memory lane whilst we had a one night stay in the equally delightful close by and co owned Salt Cabin. Gorgeous waterfront location and despite this the food is excellent. I say "despite" in all seriousness as so often catering can be disappointing in waterfront locations as the owners feel they don't have to try. Yes, the menu is short which is great because the food usually and does benefit here. If a menu is too long and generic the food suffers. Needless to say food and coffee here is excellent and well prepared and different to the standard norm. I have repeated some of your ideas at home! Love sourdough. Ordinary bread when toasted is like eating cardboard! Delightful young team. Dog friendly, easy parking. 5 plus rating. High level Auckland Aotearoa/New Zealand standards! It goes without saying that this is a successful business as I notice that you have needed to extend the café space!
04/11/2018: We were back in the area and having a dog walk and though we would swing by - our previous visit was a little underwhelming but am very happy to report it was definitely back to fighting form. Coffees were fab and the food was hot, tasty and well presented - staff young cheerful and smiling and very accommodating.

02/11/2018: Me and my friend went to Cackleberrys on a Friday and it was a really lovely visit. The waitress who served us was really friendly and helpful & the food was delicious. The cafe was very clean and well decorated. It’s nice to find something unique and different in Fareham .
28/10/2018: Visiting my sister in Fareham we had breakfast here. Found it to be a welcoming atmosphere, pretty decor and a relaxing hour was spent here on 2 mornings . Staff attentive, polite and smiling. Food tasty and time and effort spent on presenting it was really appreciated. I think my sister must visit regularly !

15/09/2018: I always use this cafe its above and beyond food great only to be matched with great staff win win they dont do chips but the rest of the choice is really good
27/08/2018: I have visited this lovely cafe twice now and both times the food was excellent. First visit i had a chicken salad . On the second occasion i had a prawn jacket potato both meals were good value for money. The staff are very helpful. I will definitely be making a third visit.

The Wheatsheaf

Titchfield, Fareham
28/10/2018: Thank you to all the staff, they are so hospitable. The roasts are amazing, so fresh and tasty. The price is so reasonable too, two courses for less then £14. We will be back.
28/10/2018: Friday evening at the Wheatsheaf. Three of us met for dinner and enjoyed the tagliatelle with prawns, salmon and the creamiest sauce you can imagine. Really hot, very filling and perfectly cooked. The table service was not rushed and, as the three of us were meeting to catch up, it was lovely to be able to chat. We all decided to go for a dessert and the date and sticky toffee pudding was light and moist with just the right amount of ice cream. Although the prices are not as keen as other pubs in the area, the atmosphere is friendly and informal but not intrusive and the quality of the food, certainly of the choices we made, justified the price. Will be returning.

The Miners Arms

Fareham North, Fareham
21/10/2018: We have just visited the Miners Arms for Sunday lunch. From the moment you arrive you are made very welcome by the landlord and his wonderful staff. My wife ordered the Roast beef, which she said was excellent, I for a change tried the Burger and chips, which I must say was also very good, but served up on a wooden board which is rather small, meaning it was extremely awkward trying to keep it from falling off the said board. If I had known I would have asked for a plate which is more hygienic. All said, it is a very good pub, and the beer and food is rather special, but please use plates. !!
14/10/2018: As part of Landlord Andy's charitable work at The Miners Arms they held a Charity Race Night for Stand Up to Cancer and as I work as a manager of a Cancer Research UK shop I was invited to get involved.

The Buccaneer

Fareham West, Fareham, <20£
07/11/2018: Nice meal with a friend, we were able to sit and chat enjoying our meal without being rushed. Staff attentive without being in your face, so nice not to be rushed over our meal.
04/11/2018: Me and my partner visited for a nice drink and were served by Emma and Gareth and the service was fantastic, they made us feel welcome and recommend the them and we will had. Will definitely be returning and recommend

The Cormorant

Portchester East, Fareham
11/11/2018: We went today as a large group of 12. Service was very good and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their roast. We also went 2 weeks ago on a Friday evening with another couple. We sat in the bar area and had a lovely meal. The atmosphere was very cosy and relaxed will definitely return and recommend to others.
07/11/2018: Poped in here for refreshments after going for a long walk ,very pleasant surrounding and great service. I was surprised by the amount of people in here at lunch time mid week. We didn't eat on this occasion but the food looked amazing.

The Roundabout Hotel

Fareham East, Fareham
07/11/2018: We booked Sunday lunch for 5 people but were surprised to find place almost empty. Was this an omen? We ordered starters of garlic mushrooms (nice) and pate (OK but poor presentation). All had Sunday roast except one (pasta dish, which was nice). Vegetables etc were served on a “last suzy”. Overall food was OK but vegetables were overcooked and potatoes seemed re-cooked. Service was fine but coffee at £3.50 was pricey. Deserts were OK. The Pub needs serious adjustments to attract new customers with better presentation and a warmer feel to the place.
02/11/2018: We were given a voucher as a Christmas present for a meal for two, so we booked a table for 2 for Friday 02/11/2018, 19:00 hrs. Well we arrived very much looking forward to a rare night out - just the two of us. We were shown to our table which was strangely out on its own, this is easily explained as there was a large 70th Birthday party taking place this same evening to the left of our table. To the right was the DJ's table complete with flashing lights, right into our eyes, and behind us a party of 15, obviously a club of some description, sat on tables that would only normally seat 12! Had we known, been told that there was a large birthday party and another party of 15 and we were the only other diners then we would defiantly have booked another night! We could not hear ourselves think let alone have a conversation, it felt like we were just added on, it may have been because we were using a voucher who knows. Having said all this, and it did totally spoil our evening out, the service was very good, friendly staff. The food was good, no complaints, although the spring vegetable soup definitely have something hot in it. Should have been a pleasant experience, but it was not, we arrived just before seven and left before eight o'clock.
