The Artichoke Restaurant

Amersham Town, Chiltern, 60-100£
17/06/2018: My wife and l visited with a friend for a ‘big birthday’ celebration and decided on the five course tasting menu. Frankly, l have never had a better lunch. Each course was a taste sensation and exquisitely presented. The staff were attentive without being overly...
17/06/2018: This is the place where you can discover tastes, textures and flavours you did not know existed. I rarely write reviews but have been moved to do so as this restaurant provided such an all round wonderful experience. I went for the lunch tasting menu;...

Gilbey's - Old Amersham

Amersham Town, Chiltern, 45-60£
20/06/2018: This is a restaurant for a special occasion. Our group of 8 people thoroughly enjoyed a very pleasant and unhurried meal in this olde-worlde restaurant in Old Amersham. The menu is diverse, with most starters being around £10 and mains about £18-26; desserts are all slightly less than £8. The wine list is quite extensive, but certainly not cheap, although this is a common trend in the UK. Note that there is a service charge of 12.5% automatically added to the bill.
17/06/2018: We were staying in Old Amersham and decided to try to eat at Gilbey's on a Friday evening. On telephoning late afternoon, we spoke to a most welcoming and helpful lady and we were lucky enough to be accommodated. From arriving at the restaurant our whole evening was most enjoyable, from the welcome to the food and the service.

21/06/2018: Wow....food, service and atmosphere was incredible. I will be returning again very soon with a lot more friends to show them this absolutely amazing hidden gem....
19/06/2018: Tom Yum is just the kind of eating place our family love. We've been here as a couple, with family, for Mothers Day and most recently to introduce two sets of friends to our favourite Thai restaurant.

The Jolly Cricketers

Seer Green, Chiltern, 30-45£
11/06/2018: Delicious Sunday lunch. Beef was tender, (served pink), full of flavour served with perfect yorkie, fresh veg and lovely roasties. My Dover sole with jersey royals was also very good.A small mishap occurred that was dealt with promptly and proffesionaly by Kirsty. Her caring approach and undoubted wine knowledge will ensure we will visit again before the end of our homesit.
04/06/2018: Just returned from a rather disappointing meal with my daughter. Greeted and served by very pleasant staff. First course of Buffalo Mozzarella was delicious but the main course of Pork Belly in a Yuzu Dressing was not pleasant at all. Extremely overpowering mustard sauce and we both could not finish our meal.

The Little Orchard

St Mary's and Waterside, Chiltern
13/05/2018: I recently held my husband’s 40th birthday party at LO. It was a Saturday night and Danni agreed to let us have the whole venue. The evening was arranged as a wine tasting with (substantial!) nibbles. It was a great success. The venue is perfect for parties of circa 30-50 people. Danni was really accommodating with regards to how we wanted to arrange the evening (they’d never done a wine tasting before) and the food was excellent - and commented on by many people!
05/05/2018: Splendid little place. Amazing service. Great food. A great choice of food to choose from. Sat outside in th sun.

The Ivy House

Chalfont St Giles, Chiltern
17/06/2018: Met a friend here this evening for dinner. Noisy restaurant full of babies and children. Starter- prawn cocktail, served on a hot plate! Hot prawns and hot, limp lettuce!
15/06/2018: Have not eaten at the Ivy house for about five years so thought it was time for another visit. I have always liked the food here in the past and enjoyed the meal again last night. They seem to have themselves a good pub chef the cares about and takes some pride in his work which translates itself to the food. The other thing I like about it the portions are small enough that you can easily fit in three courses which is a pleasure in this age of over largely portions. Most restaurants nowadays you have to skip you starter, are fairly full by the time you eat your main course and have to struggle through dessert (if you have any room left for it). I would far rather have smaller portions and get to sample more of the menu on a visit than get bulked out on one course, specially when they overfill the plate with the cheep items like chips.

V's Kitchen

Amersham Town, Chiltern
18/06/2018: Popped in whilst passing through Amersham. A lovely little venue with friendly staff offering a nice range of traditional fayre, including scummy homemade cakes, all at reasonable prices (an healthy portion sizes). Nice to have proper loose leaf tea too. A real gem of a find and will definitely return when back or passing by in the future.
03/06/2018: Popped into V’s on a Sunday evening, hoping to grab something before closing time, only to find a rude man claiming to be the owner had already closed the shop. He threw around some wild accusations about me and my wife and asked us to leave. We’ve been enjoying V’s Kitchen since it opened, I really hope this was a bad dream because it’s not the type of service we’ve come to expect from our previous visits!

Barracuda Cafe

Amersham-on-the-Hill, Chiltern
21/06/2018: I often visit Barracuda for a leisurely breakfast. Lovely breakfast served with lively staff. Generous portion and great coffee to top up. Must try
15/06/2018: I have enjoyed this place since it opened as a treat for a good English cooked breakfast. The new layout was different and I thought the way it was before was much better. But I had gone there to eat not complain about the layout and so tucked into a great English breakfast and a great hot cup of tea. Well done team Baracuda, another great experience.

26/03/2018: We went on a Friday evening and I was glad I'd booked as it was very busy. Buzzy atmosphere, food seemed good quality and was very tasty. The onion salad with the popadoms was particularly good. The wine we ordered had run out but they offered an alternative at a similar price.
