The Richmond Arms

Funtington, Chichester
07/11/2018: Had another lovely lunch here on Sunday once we were able to gain access. One door had a “Please use other door” sign and the other door was locked. Sat outside patiently waiting but got cold so returned to our car. Another couple turned up and they couldn’t get in either. Finally a waitress opened up and said that they didn’t realise the door was locked – funny that as the clue was that you had no customers!
06/11/2018: This restaurant has definitely improved its game. The choice was very interesting and lots of choice.

Hare and Hounds

Funtington, Chichester, 20-30£
22/09/2018: Found this great little Pub when visiting the local area.
19/09/2018: The only thing setting this place apart from the rest is the delightful waitress who was always on hand with a smile. The food was nothing worth noting, but wasn’t bad either. I have eaten in many worse places. So if you are nearby and don’t want to drive anywhere (which you would have to do, nothing in walking distance for miles) this place is more than adequate (But not worth the drive all the way to here).

Funtington, Chichester, 45-60£
01/11/2018: Spurred on by this restaurant's good reputation we took our hosts out to dinner. The entrees and main courses were excellent - tasty and elegant. The summer pudding though needs to be made with blackcurrants not peaches, so that it's sharp and flavoursome, and the bread must be a dense German type. Using supermarket sliced white bread produces slime. How could the chef not know that?
20/09/2018: Went to Hallidays for our anniversary having only booked the day before. The menu looked good and the reviews were generally positive but as I have found in the past this is no guarantee of a great meal.

The Fox and Hounds

Funtington, Chichester, 20-30£
24/10/2018: Lovely Sunday lunch here, parking can be a problem but so far have been lucky on our visits. One aubergine dish as main with salad, very good but little small for a man. Carvery excellent and thoroughly enjoyed but if I had to find fault it was not over hot!
21/10/2018: The decor was nice and there is a beautiful well inside with a glass top that you can look down. No vegan options on the menu though. Otherwise good selection.

Victoria Inn

Funtington, Chichester
04/11/2018: The pub was impressively decorated for Halloween. The food was freshly cooked and staff were very welcoming. The slice of steak and ale pie was truly delicious and the fish and chips were well cooked, with a huge piece of fish. We also enjoyed the beer.
30/09/2018: Visited last night with my husband and children. The pub was having a 'cider and sausage' evening, with live music too (which was very good). Children and dogs are welcome, and they're very accommodating for food intolerances. I had the gluten-free fish and chips (proper freshly made battered fish), and it was absolutely amazing. Husband and children had the sausages and chips/mash (there was a long list of sausages you could chose from) and they all said their food was fantastic. All round a great evening. Would definitely recommend.

The Coach And Horses

Funtington, Chichester
02/11/2018: A great stop on our circular dog walk. The guys Dave and Paul are so welcoming and friendly that we stayed longer than we intended as we had great conversation and banter. It’s a lovely pub in a lovely village. Well worth a visit.
14/10/2018: This village pub has recently been taken over by Dave and Paul, both enormously enthusiastic and warm. They've refurbished the bar, new furnishing, new lighting and a great range of ales, lagers and everything you could want. The menu is as yet relatively limited but our group had burgers, I had bangers and mash (gravy was first class) and my wife had lovely crisp scampi and chips; all were excellent.

Woodfired in The Alley

Funtington, Chichester
21/09/2018: We booked for the tapas menu, and we were just disappointed. Selection was tiny, portions were tiny (yes I know, it is tapas) and price was not tiny! Service was indifferent to say the least, and we won't go back. Shame because we were really keen to try it.
21/07/2018: The pizza van was a very welcome addition to this lovely restaurant, giving families the opportunity for an informal and tasty meal. Sadly the 'pizzas' and tapas dishes have really gone down hill. I was shocked at how empty the place was when it used to be buzzing on Friday and Saturday nights - have others had the same experience as we had recently? The pizzas (which were already expensive at £12.95) have recently been replaced by flatbreads which at the same price are ridiculously expensive and very poor value for money as they are tasteless with mean and meagre toppings (as if they are trying to cut costs or save money). The fabulous, juicy squid fries, have been replaced by squid bits i.e a few crumbs lacking flavour or texture, in a paper cone, which at £6.95 is a real rip off and just not worth it for price or lack of taste. The selection of tapas dishes is very limited - green padron peppers or tandoori cauliflower? And quite bizarre. Has the usual chef left? Was it his night off? Come on The Richmond Arms - you need to maintain your standards and be more generous with your dishes or you will lose customers such as ourselves - you may already have lost us based on our recent experience.
