Field & Fork Restaurant

Chichester North, Chichester
08/11/2018: Well worth visiting, Field & Fork offers food the way it should be - fresh with a menu that changes depending on what the owner has bought that day. Service from the staff is just right - attentive and friendly. The atmosphere with an open fire as well as a light and airy conservatory if you prefer is all you need. This was our first visit but now knowing they can cater for pre theatre as well as normal evening and lunch bookings means this won't be our last!
04/11/2018: We went to "Field and Fork" for the first time on Saturday evening and were very pleased we had decided to try it. The restaurant has a cosy feel to it and is surprisingly big inside, comprising a number of different areas. The meal was excellent - I had the ham hock followed by brill. Puds were good too, though I didn't have one.

The George

Chichester North, Chichester, 20-30£
09/11/2018: Stopped here for an early dinner on our way to Chichester Festival Theatre. A very warm welcome from their amazing staff who fussed over our two dogs. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the decor is quirky and fun.
07/11/2018: Lovely atmosphere, very clean, roaring fire. Food absolutely marvellous but long wait. Apparently some people turned up late and it all went pear shaped. Very popular place but probably best to visit on a week day. Staff very helpful and so cheerful even under difficult circumstances. Would definitely recommend.

The Royal Oak

Chichester North, Chichester
10/09/2018: We enjoyed a relaxed evening at the Royal Oak with friends. The restaurant is a typical cosy English pub with a good atmosphere and lovely food. We most enjoyed the mains, especially the steaks and fish and chips. They have a great winelist with very fair prices. We would definitely go again.
28/08/2018: Thank you Dave and Sarah for making us welcome and squeezing us all in for food even though you were busy This was our third visit over the last few years as we are not local Really live visiting when we are passing through.Well done and hope to visit again soon.

The Royal Oak Lagness

19/10/2018: Great food, very welcoming and friendly service. Food is good value, and always very tasty. This is one of our favourite pubs to go to, and never disappoints. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone to try, highlight for us is the steak & ale pie.
13/10/2018: This is the second time I have been here recently and have not been disappointed on either occasion.

Little London Cafe

Chichester North, Chichester
16/09/2018: This little gem of a cafe tucked away from all the modern outlets is a little oasis serving excellent snack lunches and main meals. The surroundings and atmosphere will take you back a few years, the staff are friendly, cheerful and efficient and all the customers are sitting around just enjoying a quiet chat over a good meal.
03/09/2018: I haven't been here for years, but went with a friend for some lunch as I had a 2-4-1 Meerkat deal. Lovely, quaint little place. We chose from the Specials board and had a goat's cheese and red onion tart with salad. It was very nice, and the coffee was good. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.

19/09/2018: Wandering down some of the little side streets in Chichester, we happened upon Jay Walk and saw this café. We were looking for somewhere we could sit outside for lunch as we had the dog with us and this looked like the perfect spot.

The Bell Inn

Chichester North, Chichester
14/10/2018: ..Had the Bell Inn bopping & boogeying once again!
27/09/2018: We had a pre-theatre dinner here with friends. The Bell Inn is right opposite the Chichester Festival Theatre and well used to catering to playgoers so it was able to ensure that we were away in time to take our seats. Great food, good local beer.

John Lewis Cafe

Chichester North, Chichester
03/11/2018: We visited the cafe for a brief family lunch while doing some shopping. The cafe was clean and tidy, we ate a variety of tasty sandwiches which came with a green salad, all well presented. Service was very good with the waiter being friendly and chatty.
29/10/2018: Use this café a lot - spend far too much time in JL!! - and I find the section and service for a store café to be pretty good, everything is always fresh, much is made up to order, always tastes good and pricing is not bad ether. Certainly if you are pekish on that retail park, you can safely go there and get something nice. The only thing to watch is when it gets close to closing time they can shut the ovens / heaters down about 20-30min before the café closes.

The Kennels

Chichester North, Chichester
01/11/2018: The Kennels is a members club, so we were delighted when our host invited us to have lunch. It is certainly a beautiful setting with excellent friendly service, but it does not live up to the Goodwood slogan "Here at Goodwood our passion for perfection is very much reflected in our food philosophy with Estate-reared produce featuring heavily in our menus at The Kennels allowing the chefs to produce sublimely memorable dishes."
26/10/2018: Everything about The Goodwood Estate and its fantastic sporting experiences is 5 Star... Except one... Dining! The Kennels is a stunning location... and as a golf member I greatly enjoy this fabulous venue... But they really need to up their game when it comes to dining. It has never been at the level of the other Goodwood activities and I don't understand why the Duke accepts this. Last year we ate here and found the food was much better then previously... It’s been ‘ok’ but not up to the quality of the venue. However, then at a private party in the ‘Penguin’ library, we enjoyed an excellent dinner of smokey pumpkin soup, delicious (if a little too salty) hake and an excellent cheese board... all helped down by a great choice of Rhône wines... We were impressed and thought we should give the main restaurant another go.... But recently he were again with a crowd in a private dining room beyond the main restaurant and although the venue, company and service was excellent... the food was again below par. Some of those who chose the beef were happy enough... but the smoked salmon was very ordinary and the sea bream was swamped by a very salty crab sauce ... at least the crumble was good. So many of my fellow-members feel the same way and really, really hope to enjoy food here of the quality of the rest of the Goodwood brand.

The Park Tavern

Chichester North, Chichester
07/10/2018: The weather was cold and damp and we decided we needed a good dose of a friendly pub atmosphere with good food and chose this establishment due to good reviews. There was a fire in the main restaurant area that looked warm but did not convey any heat leaving the room cold. Service was lacking in many ways: my 25-year-old daughter was ID'd, the law around IDing people was explained, however, the law also states a person over 16 can have wine with a meal, but this was not considered or provided. Service was slow and the food looked potentially good on arrival but the bread that accompanied the camembert was burnt and the underside of the steak was totally burnt. These issues were pointed out at the end of the meal, the waitress admitted the steak was burnt and provided a refund for the camembert saying this was the best she could do??? as this was a family lunch for my son just starting uni, I decided not to complain at the time but feel the need to feedback this disappointing experience. Would not visit this pub again.
16/09/2018: Visited the Park Tavern today with my family for lunch. We all had the Roast and it was absolutely lovely! Thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to come back again soon!
