The George

Chichester North, Chichester, 20-30£
18/06/2018: Great food, great atmosphere, worth booking. Really tasty vegetarian options - the truffle mash is awesome. The nearby walk sounds good too, but I haven't done it yet. Just being done up in June 18.
18/06/2018: It was a long weekend and we had friends over from California who wanted to enjoy a traditional English pub lunch. Needless to say the place was packed on a very hot and sunny day. The staff were brilliant and coped magnificently. The food, in spite of the numbers was excellent. And the Californians relished the atmosphere of an English pub at its best.

Field & Fork Restaurant

Chichester North, Chichester
17/06/2018: This is bang next door to the pleasant Harbour hotel, tucked into a little side street. Dinner was a set menu of very good value, enough choice but not too much. Service was efficient and friendly and the meal was unusual and delicious. A great evening.
14/06/2018: The restaurant is tucked away off North St and adjacent to Priory Park. We booked for dinner at the last minute on the strength of the menu on the board outside. Wow! We were not disappointed. Interesting food combinations, and beautifully presented, made for a culinary delight. Don’t be fooled by the size of the portions, they are indeed substantial. Service was excellent and at no point did we feel rushed or pushed to leave at the end of the evening. We sat in the conservatory for dining which, although only a brick wall view, was a lovely place to dine at the end of a warm summer’s day. Thoroughly recommend.

21/06/2018: The food was amazing and the service was faultless, couldn’t have done better to help. Nothing was too much trouble.
21/06/2018: Delicious food, and a wonderfully cheerful waiter. Couldn't fault the food or the service, made a nice evening out.

The Royal Oak

Chichester North, Chichester
15/06/2018: Incredible location and beer and food at its rustic and simple best. Beautiful garden and having been around the world this place is really special. Make the effort and get yourself here, truly special place.
13/06/2018: My wife and I recently had the pleasure of enjoying Royal Oak hospitality three days in succession, the first two visits covering researching a circular walk for our walking group and the third was to share a post-walk lunch with the group. Because the pub is out 'in-the-sticks' it does not enjoy 'passing trade' opening hours are not standard, but this adds to its charm. On our first two visits the weather was fine and we were able to take advantage of the traffic free beer garden, which is well populated with benches and parasols. On our third visit our group of twenty one almost fitted into the nice, quiet dining room.

Lanes End Cafe

Chichester North, Chichester
26/05/2018: Lovely little cafe in a little remote alley way makes its so relaxing to just sit and enjoy the breakfast. Lovely food and staff and the little doggo that came to say hello:)
26/04/2018: We stopped here and had a cooked breakfast. Freshly made to order the owner gave great service, some of the salt and pepper pots could do with a regular wipe over. We would have recommended this cafe to all our friends IF the neighbouring gentleman had not of came in and helped himself to a cup of tea then walked over opened the fridge and took a hand full of cheese and ate it in front of us. To which nothing was said.

The Anglesey Arms

Chichester North, Chichester
17/06/2018: We ate here for father's day following a walk in Halnaker and chose the roast dinner. The overall service was slow and we actually got forgotten with others arriving after us being served first. Our meals were just ok in temperature but certainly not hot. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt on top, only two small roast potatoes that could have been cooked a bit longer, very little cabbage and I had only five peas with my daughter having none at all. These were the only green vegetables on the plate. There were no carrots but a little bit of mashed Swede. The meat was thankfully well cooked. We chose the crumble for pudding, but again we were disappointed as it wasn't as hot as it should be and was actually just stewed fruit with a crumble added separately on the top.
19/05/2018: Sat night of the Royal Wedding & empty! 1) Asked for Wine list & told problems with suppliers so no list & no prices when told what they had & Rose wine was not cold as busy at lunchtime. 2) Ordered a starter & told it was off the menu. 3) Told there were problems in the kitchen that day ! 4) Ordered a platter which came without one of the main ingredients ! 5) Ordered a dish with plenty of veg & came with 1 carrot & a smear of purée as decoration! 6) No prices on the desert menu & very limited! Service diabolical & totally disappointed with the whole evening What has happened to this place ? The food we had was good but portions small & atmosphere non existent, will not return !!!

19/06/2018: Just like being in Hong Kong or Shanghai. Good menu choice, excellent service, great food. Full marks although I wish health and safety would allow the traditional food warmers back on the table!
19/05/2018: Good points: free parking, friendly staff.

The Kennels

Chichester North, Chichester
18/06/2018: Annoyingly the Kennels was somewhere between "not bad" and ordinary, so 3.5 please Trip Advisor. We ate here as a large party which meant a set menu, not usually something that allows chefs to express themselves but which can lead them to being less than attentive to each and every dish. Such was the case with the asparagus and poached egg. The asparagus was a little hard and the egg undercooked a fraction. The lamb with beans was again OK but the lamb lacked taste and the beans were, well, unrelenting and a chore to eat. The lemon meringue was the size of a house and again, OK. Probably the best dish nevertheless. Staff were great - friendly and on hand when your wine needed a top up. Whilst the Kennels is on the Goodwood estate, I woul advise getting a taxi from the hotel as this is one helluva big estate that only serious walkers should attempt on foot!
16/06/2018: I have been a member at Goodwood racecourse for 30+ years and have watched changes in behaviour, some good, some bad, over this period.

The Minerva Brasserie

Chichester North, Chichester, 20-30£
17/06/2018: A smooth operation - we were served by a delightful student. The limited menu gave us plenty of choice and the meal was a perfect prelude to the play.
14/06/2018: Came here for dinner before seeing a play. Very impressed. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was served quickly and was very well presented. I had the salmon which was delicious and my friends had the chicken which was also very good. The bar was very clean and airy and a pleasant place to eat. Would certainly come back.

The Park Tavern

Chichester North, Chichester
17/06/2018: We spent a very enjoyable few days in Chichester (7th - 11th June). The weather was excellent. We were staying near to the Park Tavern and popped in a couple of times as we were passing for a relieving drink on a hot afternoon. Obviously a very popular place; most of the customers were outside enjoying the sunshine. A traditional bar with a range of ales and very friendly staff.
17/06/2018: Lovely location opposite the park - worth leaving the main shopping area. Pub is traditional and unspoilt. Staff friendly and the food was excellent. Four of us had the sea bass which was lovely, the burger was highly praised too. Would def return

The Royal Oak Lagness

Chichester North, Chichester
20/06/2018: Have eaten here on and off over the years in fact started coming when the new owners first took it over. The food has always been great, good value and lots of it. In recent times they have had a bit of a refurb and it looks good, they have a big back garden/ patio.
20/06/2018: Having not been to this pub for over 20 years we decided to try it for our wedding anniversary. The pub has not changed at all.

Little London Cafe

Chichester North, Chichester
08/02/2018: We ate here for the first time today to have Sunday lunch on the invite from my Mother-in-law. First of all I must say it was probably one of the best cuts of beef that I have had for a long time. Two big slices!! The food was very good indeed. From the starters through to the desserts. I have had coffee here ages ago and did not realise that it doubled up as a restaurant as well. Good traditional surroundings, atmosphere and good traditional food. Friendly staff. Definitely worth a look.
15/12/2017: Chichester is awash with restaurants and cafes of every type from the usual chains to independents. If you are coming to the city for the day head straight for Little London Cafe (just off East Street) for your lunch. You won't be disappointed. No tea bags or foil wrapped butter portions here. A fine selection of loose leaf teas is available and you get proper butter in a butter dish. This attention to quality is evident throughout the menu which always includes some excellent and tasty home-cooked hot dishes on the specials board. I am at a loss to know how other reviewers can fault the friendliness of the services. We have been regulars for years and never had less than a warm welcome.

Murrays

Chichester North, Chichester, 45-60£
14/06/2018: The menu is very heavily fish orientated but with a relatively inventive menu. On the upper end of mid range for both food and wine, it was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and the ladies were very attentive. However, the music was not conducive to dining! I suspect the music was chosen by the 20 something’s bar staff for their own pleasure, so high octane percussion didn’t go with intimate conversations and supposedly fine dining. Fast, high pitched music tends to make customers eat faster - yet they didnt exactly have a queue waiting to eat so what was the point? Most of the diners were 40+
01/06/2018: Having been given a voucher for afternoon tea as a gift we expected something a bit special. When we arrived promptly for our 4.00 pm booking we were told our table was not ready and asked to wait. Fifteen minutes later we were seated but then waited a further ten minutes before a waitress appeared and another ten minutes before our food actually arrived. It didn't help that whilst were were waiting for our table the only reading matter was hubristic company literature telling us how amazing they are. We were told more than once that they were short-staffed. One doesn't expend high-end hospitality providers to trot out that feeble excuse. The tea itself? Some very ordinary ham and egg sandwiches, some dry over-baked scones and petite fours instead of pastries. There are a dozen more modest places in Chichester that could have done a better job than that. Are Harbour Hotels all style and no substance?

Wyevale Garden Centres

Chichester North, Chichester
30/05/2018: as one would expect lovely surroundings in this garden centre all the plants or the vast majority have been well kept and nourished but as in most place some plants have seen better days but you will always get a reduction on these....Great for a Cup of Tea and a natter and to pass away a couple of hours..
14/12/2017: Christmas lunch, starter lovely prawn cocktail, main Turkey with ALL the trimmings, which was ok but it would have been nicer if the veg was in bowls so we could help ourselves, there was to much on the plate!! Also not very hot. Dessert we had the strawberry roulade, not enough strawberries!!! The really good thing was it was cooked fresh.
