Saint Smokeys Bbq House

Westgate, Canterbury
29/08/2018: Loved the food, warm carrabian flavour and welcome, refreshing to have a place to go to for this kind of food, reggae music playing which adds to the atmosphere and friendly service
29/08/2018: My friend introduced this place to me as she had been wanting to go so we decided to go together, the staff were all very friendly and polite and their was a nice range of options to choose from at a good price. We did have to wait a while for our food but the wait was worth it we throughly enjoyed every bit of it!! We definately intend to go back!

Kathton House

Sturry South, Canterbury
28/08/2018: On visit from Australia found the food & surroundings excellent good atmosphere, waiters very attentive and new owner with very nice personality nothing was to much trouble. The food was first class We will visit again on our next trip to the UK
27/08/2018: We went for my friend’s birthday. It’s rare I’m moved to write reviews for things, but having been assured upon asking beforehand that they could produce vegan friendly food, the scraps we were served infuriated me enough to come and warn others off. My starter was ‘tofu salad’ - bits of uncooked tofu (literally. Raw. Not even seasoned) with three leaves and a blob of beetroot, and then pasta with tomato sauce that tasted like it was from a tin (and a child size portion at that) for my main. They didn’t even laugh when they took £25 off me for it. AVOID if you’re vegan, unless you like a bit of daylight robbery and a rumbling tum by dinner

The Wallflower Cafe

Heron, Canterbury
27/08/2018: One of the best veggie/vegan restaurant I have ever imaginative well priced and delicious always just take a seat with other customers who are very friendly. My husband who is not veggie loves going here
26/08/2018: I'm not vegetarian and probably never will be but I love the wallflower cafe. The range of food is great and it is absolutely delicious. The service is friendly and the place is so relaxed. Perfect lunch spot

Cafe des Amis

Westgate, Canterbury, 20-30£
05/09/2018: We love this restaurant and are regulars. Great food, great atmosphere, great service and excellent value for money. There's nothing not to like. Even better the taxi rank is opposite, so after a couple of frozen margaritas (a house speciality) and a glass of red wine you can nip across the road and get a cab home.
05/09/2018: An absolutely amazing Mexican meal in a great restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. We had the pork nachos- defiantly the most amazing dish. We also had chicken fajitas, calamari, paella and chicken burrito: all great too. Ella, our waitress, was lovely and couldn’t have been more accommodating even considering the restaurant was rather busy. Definitely a credit to the restaurant team! We also got student discount which was an added bonus. Thanks again.

Chapman's Restaurant

Westgate, Canterbury
04/09/2018: We ate here upstairs the first time as there was no room downstairs. We enjoyed the food but there was not much atmosphere as we were on our own. So, when we went back we asked for a downstairs table. The service was good and the food was nice but not sure it was special enough to justify the high prices. For Canterbury it is expensive, there are a lot of other restaurants nearby that I think offer better value for money.
30/08/2018: very good sea food restaurant thogh a bit expensive. however fish and chips as buy on e get one free was excellent even if 8 slices of bread cost £12

Cafe du Soleil

St Stephens, Canterbury, 30-45£
29/08/2018: This is one of my favourite restaurants in Canterbury. Always excellent service, in nice surroundings and atmosphere and the menu has a very good range of choice including a daily fish special/set menu. Pork belly was amazing. You can purchase gift cards too which make a lovely gift. Will definitely visit again
27/08/2018: Excellent food and staff. House wine was good but Rose was quite expensive when compared to house white and red. Nice atmosphere.

The Beach Cafe

Tankerton, Canterbury
28/08/2018: The cafe is dog friendly, most are not now days. The Food Is good a little pricey, but don’t let this put you off. Staff friendly and we would use again.
27/08/2018: We came across this cafe today and such a gem

The Haywain

Little Stour, Canterbury
16/08/2018: My husband and I were having a few days away in the caravan and was travelling out for the day. We needed a spot of lunch and came across "The Haywain" we hadn't booked not knowing where we would be, it was very busy but to our amazement was offered a table for two, sadly all the roast was allocated owing to a large booking they were expecting but there was still a lot to choose from on the menu. Decided on Cod with lemon butter and side salad. The Cod was cooked to perfection and presented well, this was accompanied by a summer beer and followed by Strawberry Pavlova. Trust your mouth is watering!!! The menu prices along with the beer prices were very reasonable. The Licencee was very welcoming and when I paid the bill was offered an organic cucumber that had been grown on site. Certainly a place to revisit, not just for a cucumber but the hospitality and food were par excellent.
15/08/2018: We stay near this Inn most years in July/August and 2018 was the first time we have been able to get a reservation for Sunday Lunch, I believe that say's a lot about this establishment. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, the food is just great and not expensive and the overall atmosphere is relaxing. The "Grumpy Old Mans Club" is a joy to watch!!

East Coast Dining Room

Tankerton, Canterbury, 30-45£
09/08/2018: Walk here from the other side of town as my daughter had been recommended the food but we got there at 3pm and they had just closed the kitchen
02/05/2018: Unfortunately it seems this restaurant has permanently closed down. Such a shame as it seemed to be in a good area near to the beach.

The Sportsman

Seasalter, Canterbury
30/08/2018: Excited to visit The Sportsman and left disappointed. Found it very over rated. Steak was chewy and grisly, fish heavy menu and not good for children, as no variation for little ones which when you are offering quite rich dishes, leaves very little option. Seems wrong for a very expensive pub.
29/08/2018: Long time ambition to visit the Sportsman and we were not disappointed as it started with a nice welcome from the owner and his helpful suggestions on food and wines. This restaurant operates a black board system and what a choice and tasting each dishes was delightful. I completely understand why this is Number 1 Gastropub and would definitely be back.

Pork & Co.

Westgate, Canterbury
28/08/2018: We visited the Canterbury Cathedral and were walking in the town centre looking for a place for lunch when we stumbled upon this restaurant. Good service and the food was delicious. Good value for money.
27/08/2018: order our food and turned up in good time liked cider thought will have few of them but when Rib melt and scrathings and pulled pork roll turned up looked big portion size and was really nice with good flavour but could of do with more tissues and was very filling i struggled to finish my cider wife was shocked i struggled to finish my cider going back there for sure when in canterbury

The Ancient Raj

St Stephens, Canterbury
18/08/2018: Na de goede reviews hier gereserveerd
13/08/2018: Not one to give 5 out of 5 but couldn’t actually find any faults here. The service was very good, just the right balance. The food was absolutely wonderful! Being big Indian food fans and having a really great local takeaway, when visiting other areas restaurants generally don’t match up to what we have back home, until now! Everything was spiced and cooked well, the lamb was so tasty and tender, the sauces delicious. The only issue was we couldn’t actually manage it all! With popadoms, starters, 2 main courses one nan and a rice and a bottle of wine it came to £60.00 which we thought was very reasonable for what we chose. The portions are all good sized. Whilst there a couple came in not having had an Indian before ( really!) they we guided and advised and we noted they ate it all! Ensure booking to guarantee a table here it was packed on a Sunday night! Enjoy! Car park just a little

A Casa Mia

Heron, Canterbury, 30-45£
26/08/2018: Best Italian food on this stretch of the Kent coast. The pizzas are the genuine article and the pasta dishes are fresh and delicious.
25/08/2018: My husband and I visited for the day and managed to get booked for 8.30pm for a table tonight but arrived earlier and got seated at 8.15. Staff were very attentive and food arrived at a good pace considering we were advised it could be a long wait as we saw how busy they were. Delicious food and great service cannot fault the place.

Westgate, Canterbury
30/08/2018: There is a lovely friendly atmosphere in this restaurant, the staff are all really helpful and the food is good and reasonably priced.
29/08/2018: Pinocchio’s is a strange blend. One the one hand the food is of a high standard and freshly prepared. I had the tagliatelle du mare which was excellent (although the portion size was slightly small). The main menu pricing was reasonable though maybe a ‘tad’ on the high side (more noticeable with the desserts) and the wine offering was very good and realistically priced.

Wheelers Oyster Bar

Harbour, Canterbury, >100£
29/08/2018: It's tiny, and you can eat in if you book, but a crab sandwich to takeaway couldn't be beaten. Tripadvisor wants me to say more, but I don't need to.
27/08/2018: This place is r commended to us by our Friend who stayed in. London. The seafood ( we ordered oysters, prawns etc) are fresh. Service is good.
