Nut Tree Inn

Marsh Gibbon, Aylesbury Vale
19/06/2018: This fabulous Inn is just around 20 minutes from Oxford and well worth the trip.
15/06/2018: This a chocolate box thatched pub with roses round the door but it hasn't lost the pubby feel. The bar is welcoming and comfortable with sofas and armchairs, and locals enjoying drinks and snacks. Of course local gin features, but there is also a good range of ales and the wine is not off the richter scale. The dining room is tasteful and the service we received was absolutely impeccable. Staff are confident and knowledgeable about food and, they appear to care about the dining experience of the guests.

Canaletto Italian Restaurant and Public House

Mandeville and Elm Farm, Aylesbury Vale
29/05/2018: Fabulous fish & chips; batter is always really crispy and neither the fish or chips are at all greasy. This was my local fish & chip shop for 4yrs and I can’t recommend it enough! My particular favourite is haddock which is always cooked to...

The Old Thatched Inn

Winslow, Aylesbury Vale
04/06/2018: Adstock is a quiet little village and the Old Thatched Inn is at the heart of it. In fact if you are in Adstock it’s probably because you are going there for a meal. It’s not the sort of place you are likely to stumble on passing through but I’m going to suggest it’s worth a visit. We dropped in on the way back from a day in the motorbikes and despite being the worst dressed people there, clad in leathers we were treated as well as those who were clearly making more effort. Staff couldn’t have been nicer and the food was fantastic. Lots of interesting specials and many of the dishes using fresh local ingredients, we were spoilt for choice. I’ve been before, but have to admit, had forgotten how good it is
29/05/2018: The building looked fabulous from the outside and so welcoming with hanging baskets any garden centre would be proud of. We entered the Inn and asked if they could accommodate us (a table for four) as we hadnt booked. We were told it wasnt a problem but we would have to wait about half an hour. We were seated at a fabulous table in the front window where we could see everything that was going on. It turned out to only be 20 minutes before our food order was taken. The place was very clean, the staff very attentive and the food was excellent. We ordered two starters to share which wasn't a problem and the staff brought two extra plates. We all ordered something different and I was lucky enough to try a fork full of all of the meals. They were all delicious. I had belly pork which was very moist and the mash potato was so tasty, my daughter had fish, my husband had lambshank and our friend had chicken. None of us could find fault with the food at all. We had ordered one serving of chips as a side but actually left them as we were all full. We had a selection of drinks. There were many groups of people in the restaurant, a birthday cake was brought in and the staff sang to the recipient. There are two areas of the restaurant to choose from if booked in advance. The atmosphere was very friendly and this is backed up by its popularity. Some people came in and had drinks while they waited. It was all very amiable. I would definitely recommend this place and if ever in the area would not hesitate to eat here again.

The Five Elms

Weedon, Aylesbury Vale
19/06/2018: Came here on Friday night, no prior booking, however accomodated quickly. The food was lovely, huge portions. We loved it but couldnt finish, because wanted to save space for sweets. Will reccoment.
02/06/2018: We were driving around and just happened upon this little gem of a village pub, tucked away in the lovely village of Weedon. We were very lucky and managed to order before they closed for lunch was amazing. Such wholesome tasty food, simple but with a little twist and served in excellent portions with a friendly smile and bit of banter. Looking forward to our 2nd visit tomorrow !

Looby Lu's Tearoom

Buckingham North, Aylesbury Vale
26/05/2018: Really friendly staff and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Our order was taken quickly and the delicious sandwiches arrived promptly.
11/05/2018: Visited for the first time today with a few of the family, including a 2 year old! staff where great! Very welcoming and happy to help in anyway they could. We ordered our club sandwiches, which were lovely :D best club sandwich I have ever had! Having a nose there was plenty of selection on the menu and cakes displayed on the side. I noticed a sign on the door saying "DOG FRIENDLY" you don't see that much but I like it. I cant fault this place, I think their whole attitude was fantastic and we will be back!

The Seven Stars

Haddenham, Aylesbury Vale
12/06/2018: Visited with family for my birthday and had a fantastic meal as we always do here, amazing burger and an awesome chocolate and walnut brownie to finish which came with a candle! Very friendly and attentive staff which added to a lovely lunch. Will be back soon!
07/06/2018: I took my Girlfriend here for a romantic dinner and we were not disappointed. Though we were sat in the bar area (due to it being a Monday) the atmosphere was great and gave the whole experience a very cosy feel. The staff were fantastic, very cheery and could not have been more helpful.

The Stag Inn

Wingrave, Aylesbury Vale, 20-30£
18/06/2018: We visited the Stag with friends for my birthday. The new summer menu had us all wanting to order more than one of everything. Luckily we were not disappointed and all very happy with our choices. So happy with our starters and main meals that we even ordered dessert! This was not due to still being hungry but because they all sounded and were so delicious.
17/06/2018: My partner and I used to visit Graeme and Gary at The Swan in Great Horwood and loved it. This was our first opportunity to visit their new restaurant and it was fabulous. The occasion was Fathers Day and we indulged in full three courses. The baked Camembert with honey and nuts was delicious and the roast Pork succulent with a chocolate mousse to complete an absolute treat. I can’t wait to go back to enjoy the garden and join the Dogs Day Out event. Congratulations both, you have excelled yourselves again!

The Pilgrim

Quainton, Aylesbury Vale, 20-30£
14/04/2018: The braised beef sheen was about perfect. The service was exceptional. And their wine choice amazing. We got a Portuguese wine from Alentejo that was prime cut. Will come back for sure.
02/04/2018: We were treated to a meal one lunchtime at The Pilgrim by a neighbour, none of us had ever been there before. Our summary would be excellent food, service and, in my case, beer. The menu is relatively limited but this does demonstrate that it...

The Rose and Crown

Pitstone, Aylesbury Vale
18/06/2018: Relaxing, cosy courtyard at the Rose & Crown. Arrived just after pub opened at noon, friendly bar staff made us feel welcome. Varied selection of real ales. Nice sandwiches ; fresh thick ham with apple slices and side of chips. Effortless English country pub - other pubs can learn from this one.
17/06/2018: Cannot recommend this village pub highly enough - very friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices for excellent quality food. The rice pudding is a particular favourite - better I can make at home!

The Raj

Wendover, Aylesbury Vale
21/06/2018: Indian (or Bangladeshi ) food is notoriously subjective, what some consider awful, others think excellent, but whereas it's pretty easy to to recognise the average, nothing very special ones, it's gets slightly harder the further upmarket you go, and I'm not talking just a nice modern decor here, great service and food go's well beyond aesthetics. Having been recommended this by my son and his long term partner ( her Father being from Bangladeshi and also a restaurant owner ) we knew simply because of the sheer number of indian meals they have sampled, that this would be good, and it is, from the genuinely friendly welcome by the owner and his son's, to the freshly cooked and authentic meals on offer, no problem that the premises are more like a quaint old tea room, with low beams and chintzy decor, this is an old fashioned family business in the best sense of the word, food is clearly cooked and presented here with pride, and regional dishes never seem to lack the authenticity of food on the Indian Continent itself. Never had a bad meal or experience there in over 5 years and prices are very reasonable, and not at all in the upper tier considering the quality of service and food, and we travel a fair distance to eat there, passing many other Indian eateries on the way, but for us only "The Raj" will do ......
19/06/2018: We were recommended this Indian restaurant for its fantastic food and wonderful service .

Cheddington, Aylesbury Vale
