West House

Biddenden, Ashford, 45-60£
18/06/2018: We had lunch for 2 and we chose from an excellent and wide choice menu. The options were; a la carte, tasting, vegetarian tasting and a set lunch menu. We chose the a la carte option and we were not disappointed with the pace of the meal, the food was excellent and it wasn't massively expensive either, I particularly like the fact that you could order a 500ml carafe of wine rather than pay for a full bottle.
17/06/2018: Went with two friends to the West House restaurant for the first time. Very pleased, the service was impeccable and the food delicious. We had the lunch time menu which was good value. The restaurant is a little pricey but well worth it. About £40per head including a good bottle of wine including a discretionary service charge. Don't expect large portions, it's not that sort of restaurant.

The Ferry Inn

Isle of Oxney, Ashford, 30-45£
14/06/2018: The service was great, but my glass of port was just a single spirit measure and I have since found out that it should be a double measure similar to a measure of Sherry. They must be making a really good mark up on this and I feel a little cheated. A sherry glass is just a bit smaller than a wine glass. Mine looked tiny. I should have mentioned it at the time but was unsure, hence the four stars.
04/06/2018: A lovely, beautifully situated pub with superb views, ideal for photography fans.Friendly, welcoming staff and locals.. what's not to love?

Rose and Crown

Weald North, Ashford
19/06/2018: Lovely country pub with excellent menu and attentive staff. The service is swift and the food is lovely and hot. My one criticism is that the tables are quite close together, so anyone on the large side would struggle to get in and out!
18/06/2018: Had a really lovely experience here Sunday early eve (Father’s Day) super friendly lady at the bar very helpful and sincere with it which really made you feel welcome. We had a quick drink in the garden then sat in the pub area for dinner. We went for 3 courses and a few drinks each total bill was around £85 which was really great value for money. I had roast lamb dinner which the lamb was cooked amazingly well and certainly a grown up portion of meat! My partner had roast beef and seemed to enjoy it. You aren’t over faced with loads of options either the menu had about 4 different options for starters mains and desserts which I like. Will certainly return and would highly recommend to others

Everest Inn

Victoria, Ashford, <20£
21/06/2018: I have been to this restaurant many times both as a couple and with family and friends. It’s one if not the best restaurant in Ashford. The staff are very responsive and I have always enjoyed the curry dishes. There is a lovely atmosphere there usually due to it being very busy and the open seating. I particularly like the more intimate private tables towards the back of the restaurant. If I was to add a minus point, I have asked for a doggie bag before and been charged 50 p per take out box which I actually think is a bit paltry when you have eaten in the restaurant and paid restaurant prices. I have had take away meals from here as well before but it’s a tad pricey when compared to other takeaway meals.
03/06/2018: Fantastic experience, from the initial booking with Jeeb, to the warm welcome and fantastic service and food. The staff could not do enough for us, and a very short waiting time for food to arrive, There was 8 of us in our group, and no one had a bad word or experience to say. Thankyou all for making our evening a Great one, and for the 10% discount you gave us, when you found out we do these meetings to raise money for our Charity. +++++

The Farriers Arms

Wye, Ashford, >100£
21/06/2018: This was recommended by a friend and I visited with 4 friends at lunch time and the pub was not busy. We had 2 courses, which took about 2 hours. That said, what we ate was delicious. Fair prices for the quality and a really nice selection on the a la carte menu. The pub is much bigger than it looks with nice outside space if the weather allows, but parking is very limited and you have to be prepared to leave your car on the road. Would definitely go again.
20/06/2018: We were recommended to eat here by the owners of the B&B; that we were staying at just along the lane (Caroline & Geoffrey of Stone Green Farm).

13/04/2018: We stayed in Biddenden for a couple of nights and although our B&B; included breakfast, we decided to have breakfast here instead. What a treat! Friendly service, very cosy atmosphere and the best eggs benedict I have had in many years. These guys take an...

The Woolpack Inn

Weald South, Ashford
05/06/2018: Sunday Lunch with my daughter and husband. My daughter had a fish pie which had very little seafood in it, mostly potato with very little flavour. My husband and I had the Roast beef. Again very average . Beef was very tough. On another occasion that we went I had the liver. This again was very disappointing. I love the atmosphere of the Pub and just wish that the food was better as this is a place I would love to come to again and again and bring friends. Lots of room for improvement.
05/06/2018: This has turned into a favourite haunt. Curiously, when I first came here a number of years ago it looked like so many other gastro pubs; someone had come along, knocked all the internal walls down, cleaned it up and carefully washed away anything meaningful and characterful about the place, leaving a nice old building detached from its past, its ghosts, its timeline and any kind of atmosphere. Since then, Ramblinns have come along and have retro-fitted it. I say retro-fitted, but as I don’t know what it looked like before I’m not sure that this is the right term. It may never have looked like it does now, can never be re-connected to its past, but at least the décor and atmosphere have been addressed. Gone is the minimalist open plan Farrow&Ball; look and in are the internal walls, nooks and crannies, cosy seats, bonkers steam-punked bits and bobs in glass, wood and brass (up-turned half champagne bottle candle holders, chain and copper pipe loo roll holders etc etc) and the atmosphere now warm, welcoming and convivial. It’s a bit restauranty, but you can still have a good pint here – well kept Tonbridge ales and a central pubby area. It has a gin menu and the wine I am told is good. The food is a big draw and the main earner (the days we live in I fear). But the food is also top notch and locally sourced. The staff are immaculate, there has been a bit of a turnover over the last couple of years but whoever comes in is always very very good, very attentive and friendly. Throw in the bucolic little village and the views of the church and across the marsh and the local walks and this place really hits the spot. Someone has worked very hard to make this place work and it shows.
