Bellamy's Bistro

Sandown South, Isle of Wight
29/08/2018: My husband and I enjoyed a lovely meal here. I had the battered cod and chips for main course and I have to say it was the crispiest and tastiest battered cod I’ve ever had. This is not a haute cuisine restaurant but I think that that is part of its charm. My husband and I left having had a delicious meal and feeling like valued customers. I would definitely recommend this place if you ever find yourself in Shanklin.
27/08/2018: Wonderful food and friendly and helpful people. Clean and pleasant atmosphere. They always do their best to accommodate us.

Pizza Calzone

Banbury Grimsbury and Castle, Cherwell, <20£
04/09/2018: I love Italian food and often crave pizza. My husband and I moved to Banbury 2years ago and didn’t see this gem until recently. I am a vegetarian and my husband is a meat lover so Italian food is a perfect blend. Well,,, oh my goodness it was totally amazing,, we had a mozzarella garlic bread to start and it was divine. I had the vegetarian calzone and my husband ordered chicken melanazie. Everything was delicious. Served hot and totally freshly cooked! It was so gorgeous. We enjoyed every mouthful... totally. The size of my calzone was too much for me but I am going to eat it tonight and can’t wait!! The service was so lovely, so friendly and happy to look after us. We were served by Ishmail and Jay. They were brilliant. Funny. Attentive and happy that we enjoyed our experience. This is definitely our new restaurant of choice. YUM.
04/09/2018: We visited Banbury today and after a good walk around the town decided on Pizza Calzone for lunch

Hillside Bistro

Ventnor East, Isle of Wight, 20-30£
19/08/2018: On a wet August Sunday, we struggled to find much open in Ventnor. The Bistro came to the rescue. Despite having lunch bookings, and it's only wanting a coffee, they couldn't have been more welcoming. And the coffee was the best we've had on the island, too. Superlative quality, prepared with care, delivered with a smile. The food looked great, too.
19/08/2018: The food at The Bistro is freshly made to order by Andy, and is presented beautifully. There is an excellent variety on the menu, from a light meal at lunchtime to a larger meal if wanted.

Restaurant 27

St Jude, Portsmouth, 60-100£
28/08/2018: I think this must be one of the best in whole of Hampshire has to offer....The moment we stepped into the restaurant one would think you could be anywhere in central London!
27/08/2018: We had a warm welcome and seated quickly. We chose the 10 course tasting menu and everything was lovely from the drinks to the perfect food and each course was explained. The restaurant ran like clockwork, however we didn't once feel we were being rushed. Can fully recommend.

Ami Cafe + Bistro

Heene, Worthing, 30-45£
27/08/2018: Came here for the second time this year as was in the area on business. I wrote on trip advisor about my previous visit earlier in the year and I have to say second time around did not disappoint and the food was equally as good. I had raved about Ami to my colleague and after tasting the food he totally understood why I rate this bistro so highly. The king prawns with chilli were cooked to perfection followed by monk fish Thai style. OMG my mouth is watering as I type. Starters ranged between £5 and £8 and I think my main was around £16. VERY good value for the quality of the food. Place is clean and the staff are friendly but professional, will definitely be going back.
15/08/2018: Wandered in from the rain and was very happy to discover a new place for us to eat. We had the lunch menu, two courses for £15. My husband and his Dad had the baked Brie followed by the burger, which my father-in-law raved about. My mother-in-law and I had the summer chicken and a dessert. The chicken was succulent, came with fresh peas, green beans and tasty corn fritters. I had the panacotta - not normally a dessert person but I wanted more! Excellent value, looking forward to checking out breakfast and dinner next time we are in town.

Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons

Great Milton, South Oxfordshire, >100£
18/08/2018: Since seeing Raymond Blanc on television I had always wanted to go to his restaurant. I was not disappointed. The setting of the manor house and the gardens is like a stage set with manicured lawns and flourishing vegetables. The staff are very attentive but not irritating. We had the non vegetarian tasting menu. Unfortuntely the whole table have to choose the same menu - I would love to have tried the vegetarian tasting menu but felt it was mean to impose it on my husband. This was my main reservation about the experience. We had five courses which were about the right size. My first course was superb [risotto of garden vegetables] and was swapped from main menu for the scallop course. My final course of an apricot dessert was delicious. The middle courses were less exciting - the cod was bland, the egg course a bit salty and the lamb too fatty - though this is quibbling as the whole meal was extremely good. Definitely a one off treat to remember.
17/08/2018: We took the garden tour and lunch. It was perfect in every way. For the garden tour there were only six of us and the gardener was excellent at explaining everything and answering questions. We were spoken to by Raymond Blanc. Canapes and drinks were followed by a superb lunch. The service was perfect and one was made to feel welcome.

Burger Brothers

St. Peter's and North Laine, Brighton and Hove, <20£
28/08/2018: Popped in for a bite after a busy morning in the Pavilion. Had the chicken bazinga burger - very tasty and not at all dry, the marinade flavouring is delicious.
28/08/2018: I thought these bois might be gassed on their own hype, but tbh it does not get much better than this. EPIC. Either this or Trollburger for the best burger in the UK, tbh. Big tings. Respect. Kind regards, Burger Snob

Compass Point Eatery

Queen's Park, Brighton and Hove
19/08/2018: Perfect - new location is great. Been trying to get to the kemptown one for ages but this is way more convenient. Staff were lovely too!
19/08/2018: Visited here on a very rainy day in Brighton, it was a great place to escape the rain and eat some great food. We ordered the veggie breakfast burrito, the pancakes with fruit and a smoothie and juice. We were so full, the portions are massive but delicious. The owners are really friendly and their dog is very cute.

Cheese & Cheers

St Jude, Portsmouth, >100£
16/08/2018: Popped into this little shop in Southsea whilst on a day trip from our holidays on the Isle of Wight. Menu is limited and all French cheese based. To be honest I loved it and my wife hated it. Food was superb and service excellent. One for the maybe again list.
16/08/2018: Cheese and Cheers is a lovely little restaurant. We asked a member of staff for advice on what to order, he was extremely friendly and helpful, making sure the cheese they were going to bring out to us was to our preference and taste. The cheeses came out on one big board with meats, chutneys and other garnishes. We also had basket of white and brown bread which were delicious and soft. When the cheese came out a lady talked us through what each cheese was, where it originated from and what order to eat it in for the best taste. All the cheese we tried were delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant not only for the quality of the food but also because of the attentive and welcoming staff.

Nino's

Pangbourne, West Berkshire
16/08/2018: The current Mrs C. has three sisters and one brother. The brother, his wife and two daughters were over from Tasmania. No 1. daughter was down from Leeds with her boyfriend, Errant Son and his girlfriend were also around. To add to the mix two of the Aussies are vegans and one is glutton free. As I do the vast majority of the cooking in our house, and I'm very much a carnivore who's not entirely sure what a vegan eats (If it hadn't been so dry recently I'd have stuck them in the garden to chew on grass!) we thought we'd take them to Nino's, as I recalled seeing that they have glutton free pasta available and I was sure they'd be able to do something vaguely veganish......
15/08/2018: I know it is difficult to make you love my mum's kitchen and therefore I feel not really competent to review restaurant were I go 4 times a week :-). If you like original Italian food cooked by Italians and perfect customer service then this is your choice. For prices which are really genuine considering quality ingredients, service and most importantly great gastronomy experience.

Knoops

Rye, Rother, 30-45£
20/08/2018: Our party of children and adults were all initially blown away by the flavour of both the hot chocolate and the milkshakes we chose, however, the richness soon became very sickly. It’s a shame smaller cups at a lower price were not available as we couldn’t get through them, so a fair amount ended up in the bin. Quality choc fest but consider sharing unless they start to offer smaller sizes.
17/08/2018: Knoops is simply sublime. Whatever you order is made with consistent care. I have visited several times and would recommend it to anyone. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Go there now!!!!

Waterside Inn

Bray, Windsor and Maidenhead, >100£
27/08/2018: Always the same superb food and service. Whether the simply excellent taster menu which comes at a michelin price or the relatively good value lunch one thing is for certain no-one leaves disappointed.
27/08/2018: Just awesome.. the set menu almost makes the price bearable. Simple touches all the time which turn a 3 course meal into a dining experience.
