Delkery - Dale Street Eatery

Central, Liverpool, <20£
09/09/2020: Just back from a few days break in lovely Liverpool. By far, Dale Street Kitchen is the best breakfast we have had. My other half is a huge fan of the traditional full English (he loved it!) so it was a pleasant change for me, not a big breakfast/meat eating fan to see an alternative and try their 'build your own breakfast' option. I chose Halloumi as the protein option, mushrooms, avocado and hash brown with poached egg. Both our plates came out very quickly, piping hot and beautifully presented. Very reasonably priced, our meals set up us for the day and we were full until our evening dinner. This lovely place is a little gem, will be top of the list for us next time we are in Liverpool. A special thank you to Hannah for such friendly, attentive service.

Cowshed

Riverside, Liverpool
16/09/2020: Ate here over the weekend with my partner and I have to say it was perfect. We both had the fillet steaks with the blue cheese sauce. Both were cooked to perfection and the blue cheese sauce was to die for, it was amazing!! The service was friendly and professional and the restaurant itself is really quirky and unique. We will definitely be returning next time in Liverpool!
14/09/2020: This restaurant feels really unique, like you are dining in an old friends house. A comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. By way of Covid measures, the staff wore masks or shields and there are screens up between tables. To start, we had the Halloumi bites with chilli and soy dipping sauce and the croquette special (Mac and Cheese). Both very moreish, it would be a crime if you didn’t try the Halloumi. The main was the aptly named Greedy Cow. This is a true sharing feast consisting of the Flat Iron, Ribeye and Rump steaks. All cooked perfectly. For £43 this is incredible value. The Ribeye is the star closely followed by the Flat Iron, the Rump brings up the rear if you’ll pardon the pun. That cut is naturally more chewy than the other two.We chose the bearnaise and the blue cheese sauce. I would highly recommend the blue cheese sauce, great with the steaks and for dipping chips into.To go with the fries we picked the Savoy Cabbage in chorizo cream. This is as delicious as it sounds with bacony bits mixed in. We also tried the Bone Marrow, this was nice but has an interesting texture. I’m not sure my girlfriend was a fan. We were politely reminded of our two hour window, which was enough time for the two courses and an after dinner cocktail. I would recommend the Salted Caramel Expresso Martini to anyone that will listen. This was a memorable meal and I felt we made all the right choices. Our waiter was charming and the service we received was excellent. A birthday well spent.

13/09/2020: Food is amazing and the service is second to none. The all day breakfast has to be the best in Liverpool without a doubt.

20/09/2020: Gorgeous food, friendly staff and even better cocktails!!! Love the atmosphere in this restaurant. Highly recommend
20/09/2020: Visited this very busy Turkish restaurant a 10 minute walk from the very centre of the city. Had made a booking three weeks earlier. I didn’t contact again until we arrived at our scheduled time. I’d recommend visitors to reconfirm nearer the visit day. Although there was a que outside we were accommodated. Staff very efficient at bringing drinks and taking food orders. Excellent range of menu. Everyone in our group of seven enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

20/09/2020: My partner and I came here for a meal and it was fantastic. Great selection of food and the prices were very fair

The Floating Grace

Kirkdale, Liverpool
06/09/2020: We should have been on The Floating Grace on Easter Sunday but as we all know, our lives got severely disrupted earlier this year. However, it was an absolute pleasure to join Peter and the crew for a little jaunt around the network of docks adjoining the Royal Albert Dock. I am reasonably knowledgeable about Liverpool’s maritime history but Peter had a mixture of witty and well informed dialogue. The roast Sunday lunch was brilliant, particularly the beef which melted in the mouth. The potatoes, veg and Yorkshire pudding were all lovely and lots of gravy (mmmm). The drinks on board were very reasonable, we has a nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. Simply put, what is not to like. We had a great time and we will be returning soon. Thanks to Peter and his team.Ian & Lesley.
06/09/2020: Yesterday was our 52 anniversary we have visited a different restaurant each year. This year’s was a brilliant cruise around the dock complex .All members of the crew made sure we had a good trip. Nothing was too much for them Thank you.

The Art School

Princes Park, Liverpool, 60-100£
20/08/2020: first sit down meal since restrictions lifted. been here numerous times, and heard good things of their post opening regime. a few changes. all staff taking all precautions, including full face masks. if early, you can sit in the reception/lounge area, but you can't drink there, at present. if you do want a drink you just go straight to your table. the tables are already well spaced, so no problems there. pretty much business as usual. on the night we went for the excellence menu. starting with champers, and chefs snacks, then onto the other courses. i went for the pork cheek, then the salt aged duck. for dessert, the rum poached pineapple. pre-meal I'd gone with a v & t, and during, a nice bottle of rose. as ever, all the food looked, and tasted fantastic. a very good meal. one slight niggle though. English style, I ordered the optional cheese board after our desserts. a good mix of 5 beautiful cheeses. however, it was the size of the portions of the cheeses, they were very small. I've had the cheese course on previous occasions, but don't remember them being this small previously. and at £17, i couldn't help but feel a little short changed on this. that aside, a really good time had by all, and we didn't stop there. following the meal we popped down to their cellar bar for cocktails to round off the night. a beautiful and relaxing space, well worth a visit, partic if you're in no rush to get home. my cheese gripes aside I will most definitely be back.
19/08/2020: We chose the art school as our first post lockdown meal not just because the food is always superb but we knew that they would go the extra mile to make the restaurant covid safe. I don’t think it needs me to say that the food is great, just read the other reviews! Restaurant and staff fantastic as usual with chef askew coming out to say hi!

Maray

Riverside, Liverpool, 20-30£
29/08/2020: If you like your independent restaurants, and more importantly, amazingly good food, then Maray is simply one of the best places to eat in the city. I’ve eaten here numerous times and each dish is always thoughtfully put together with interesting flavours and extremely tasty. Maray serves small plates so I would recommend 6 dishes between 2 people. The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere as it’s all about the food. I would highly recommend their signature dish, the disco cauliflower. It might sound a strange dish but trust me, you won’t be disappointed. Maray has a sister restaurant just south of the city centre on Allerton Road for people who don’t fancy venturing into the centre.
27/08/2020: We cane here as a family on an EOTHO evening and not only did we manage to get a table we were also in the little downstairs room which we loved. We had a great night. Food was lovely as always with the favourite being the beef and cauliflower. Staff very attentive but not OTT and it felt like a real treat. Thank you and can not wait to come back. This place always delivers.

Cucina di Vincenzo

Church, Liverpool
29/08/2020: This visit was for our friends special birthday. Last year pre-covid. It's set in a lovely area amongst several other independents. There's reasonable on street parking and local buses in the area for access. It was fabulous from the moment I stepped through the doors. The warm welcome we received, the look of the place was excellent. After being escorted to our seats at the rear of the restaurant, you could feel the buzz of a bustling hive of activity between the kitchen, diners and the lovely people serving us.The gentleman and his family that run this place are clearly proud of the time and effort put into this gorgeous place, and it shows from the service, the look and especially the food. What and absolute delight.Savoured every mouthful, very tasty and a great choice of wine to accompany our meal was chosen by Vince. Who was extremely warm and charming right throughout our evening. It was like being taken on a journey with snippits about pride he has of his family and the evident success of this place is apparent. This is without doubt a must to dine at, if you get the chance. I will definitely be looking forward to going back.
24/08/2020: A little bit expensive but food was quality, we had the seafood pasta and sausage pasta and thoroughly enjoyed. Good Covid measures.

Silk Rd Liverpool

Central, Liverpool
15/09/2020: I went for a meal for my housemate's 21st birthday and we had the loveliest evening. We were served by Matt and he made sure we understood the menu and also made some excellent recommendations which really added to the whole experience. We will definitely be returning and recommending Silk Rd to all of our friends! Thank you so much to all the staff for a wonderful evening!
13/09/2020: 12th September. I was looking forward this this meal as the menu looked really interesting, but perhaps the restaurant should stick to one cuisine. We ordered 6 tapas size dishes, beef rendang (which my partner said was ok), massaman (far too sweet), nachos (too much salad), halloumi (dry and too sweet), calamari, mango chicken(which tasted & looked like a sweet & sour stir fry). We we're very disappointed and won't be returning. If you're looking for a place to drink all night and perhaps have a couple of dishes to soak up the alcohol this might be the place for you. Considering current covid19 issues, a large party of 13 people arrived towards the end of our meal spread over 3 tables but still doesn't seem within the he government guidance. From Monday 14th I believe this will be illegal.

churrasco steakhouse

St Michael's, Liverpool
20/09/2020: During our recent stay in Liverpool city centre four of us went for a meal at Churrasco steak house which is a short (and cheap) taxi ride just outside of town. I would advise booking in advance. Writing this review is so easy because this is a fantastic place to eat. Sometimes when visiting a specialist steak house you leave somewhat disappointed because your food just does not live up to your expectations, well not at this place. Our meals were large and every one of them superb quality with melt in the mouth meat and delicious sauces on the side. The sharing platter, at £22 a head consists of two large steaks, half a chicken, garlic prawns, sausages, fries, corn on the cob and apple coleslaw all of which was absolutely great. I have a large appetite and even I could not finish my share of the platter alone (read 'greedy'!). Staff were very attentive without buzzing around you un-necessarily. Drinks are not the cheapest just so you are aware BUT do not let that put you off coming to this place as you will not be disappointed. Also, do not let the £5 taxi ride from Liverpool City centre put you off as you really will have a great meal if you make the effort. Top marks for top grub
16/09/2020: visited for the first time with my husband recently. This was our first evening out after sheilding and we were nervous about dining out but had no need to be. We were super impressed. We ate in the cabin and the booths are ideal for socially distanced dining, super cosy with heaters for each table should you need them. The staff are superb they all wear masks and everything is extremely clean. Food was excellent i had the chimichurri steak, the flavours on the dish were amazing. Husband had the ragu pasta and he loved it. Cant believe we havnt been before. Cant wait to return!!
