07/04/2020: This is our favorite restaurant. The food is varied and delicious. The service is friendly and helpful. We always have an excellent time and wonderful food.
07/04/2020: Came here as a late valentines day visit. Food was absolutely delicious, service was fantastic. There is parking on the road outside but not much, can see it being a problem on a very busy day, but for us it was fine. The room had a nice atmosphere. Enjoyed very much.

The Lunesdale Arms

The Brasserie

Poulton, Lancaster, <20£
02/04/2020: Visited Morcambe for the first time in Feb this year. We love Greek food so were pleased to discover this little restaurant. What a gem!The staff were wonderful, extremely welcoming and friendly. The place was fully booked, we were lucky to have been offered a table when we walked in. The menu had some great choices for starters and mains. This was the first time I have seen a vegan option for a moussaka at any Greek restaurant, which was extremely tasty and worth the five star rating alone. Owners let us wait inside for our taxi after the meal due to the heavy rain outside, such lovely people. This place is a must for anyone looking for tasty Greek food, served with a smile. We will definitely be back if we visit the area again.
14/03/2020: My husband and myself visited this restaurant on Sunday 8th March. We read about it on trip advisor and decided to try it. WOW we are glad we did! The service was great. The food was very greek and very delicious. The owner was really pleasant and welcoming. Would book again on our next visit to Morecambe.

The Eagles Head

Kellet, Lancaster
21/06/2020: Compliments to the Chef and the rest of the team. We ordered the Beef and Ale Pie, The Gammon and the Beef Dinner. The meals were sublime. Not only were the veggies perfect, my beef was melt in the mouth. The pies are individual and they are delicious. The portions are plentiful. The containers are on point. Totally Delicious.
11/03/2020: Called in for a couple of drinks after playing badminton in the village. Quiz night was in full flow so we kept things a bit quieter than usual. Seems they do a buffet meal for all those taking part in the event. There was some food left after everyone had taken what they wanted at which point the landlord asked us if we would like to partake. Well yes, brilliant! Fabulous steak pie, Shepherd's pie chips and roasters with pickles! We felt this was a really nice, friendly inclusive gesture that deserved recognition. Many thanks.

Upper Lune Valley, Lancaster, <20£
28/02/2020: Another perfect evening at The Highwayman. Aimee, Nadia and the team are the best hosts and always make us feel so welcome. Food is outstanding; can’t recommend highly enough. You will not be disappointed. Can’t wait to return.
27/02/2020: Last minute choice to go out for an evening meal but the food here made it a fantastic idea. New menu every day (so I believe) and the choice was superb. Halloumi fries for starter were phenomenal and the crispy beef salad was incredibly tasty. Fantastic hospitality and a lovely location, great place to eat highly recommended from us!

The Three Mariners, Lancaster

Castle, Lancaster
08/03/2020: We always enjoy coming up to Lancaster for the odd day out - such a pleasant city with lots of places to visit and enjoy a drink or two however this place is our favourite stop - such a lovely pub tucked away from the roadside and just far enough to be away from the mainstream city centre. The pub looks lovely both inside and out and we've enjoyed both sitting on the benches on a summers night or warm and cosy inside on a winters afternoon. A great selection of beers (although no Titanic plum porter this time on my last visit - pity!) and lovely home cooked food all very reasonably priced - we had the burgers on our last visit - served with hand cut chips, relish and side salad and the portions were both generous and delicious. The staff are most welcoming and polite making this place arguably the best pub in Lancaster. Well worth a visit.
06/03/2020: Good food staff and ace pub plus very good food in oldest pub in Lancaster.quite dead but definitely worth it

Dalton Arms

Ellel,University, Lancaster, 20-30£
10/03/2020: Very friendly pub, sadly we couldn’t eat as they weren’t serving food tonight despite their website saying the opposite. Locals helpfully gave us directions to local alternatives!
06/03/2020: We were staying locally to Glasson Dock, so phoned and booked for dinner. We were welcomed by the owner and had a great dinner. Friendly and efficient service . Cheers 🍺.

Quays Fish and Chips

Duke's, Lancaster
03/11/2019: Whilst visiting Lancaster and the Light Up Lancaster event we were in search of a good take away. A bit of a trek out of the main High Street but worthwhile. Staff very friendly, nice and clean inside and the fish and chips were good size and tasty. Would recommend.
19/09/2019: Tucked away a bit down a side road off the main road into Lancaster from the south is Quays Fish and Chip shop. Clean and tidy inside with friendly staff, also licensed to sell alcohol with a range of beers, larger and wines, what more can you ask for?The fish and chips were great best I have had for a long time, it also sells gluten free fish and a wide range of pies and specials, definitely worth a visit.

Precinct Westgate

Westgate, Lancaster
19/03/2020: Not only was the shop spotless but the staff polite and friendly. Food cooked freshly and still warm by time I got home. Fish, chips, halloumi bites and curry sauce were delicious
24/02/2020: Very friendly and spotlessly clean. Loved our meal. Thank you will definately be back. The kids ate all theirs too as they really enjoyed it.

Elaine's Tearoom

Lower Lune Valley, Lancaster
16/12/2019: Wonderful, helpful, delightful. Staff cannot do enough to accommodate customers. You will not be disappointed
16/10/2019: This was our first visit to Elaine's and we were really impressed by the great home-style cooking on offer. A huge array of delicious looking cakes and desserts greeted us as we entered, which certainly whetted our appetite for what was to come. We visited for Sunday lunch and most of our group opted to sample the beef roast dinner, which was delivered with additional gravy and a good selection of vegetables. Despite the generous portions, this soon vanished and was declared to be delicious! The steak and ale pie was also sampled - again a generous portion supplemented by beautifully crispy chips. We enjoyed the informal cafe atmosphere and the efficient and friendly service we received. What is more, all this came at great value for money. Full marks all round! The cafe was very busy so if you intend to visit, it's probably best to book in advance.

Casa Pepe Tapas

Duke's, Lancaster
31/05/2020: I ordered from Casa Pepe as a lockdown treat for me and my partner....I can honestly say that the food was absolutely delicious! Authentic taste, great service, good portion size, well presented, delivered on time and hot! We will definitely order again and are looking forward to visiting Casa Pepe once they re-open. THANK YOU !
11/05/2020: OKLet’s start with an observation. Tapas to my mind means “little plates”. Trust me there is nothing small about the size of these portions. We have a salad dish we bought which is saved for tomorrow’s lunch , such was the size of the portions. Obviously, in the current climate we had a takeaway(delivered) by the most affable driver. If you only try two dishes the garlic prawns are Tolbert closest you will come to those served at the Spanish beach bars but the house special meatballs are just incredible. You should be arrested for not trying them. I’m very much looking forward to restaurants re-opening and trying the dining experience. In the interim we will be ordering a takeaway again.

The Butcher and Tonic

Duke's, Lancaster
18/03/2020: The food here is amazing. Good selection of starters which are all tasty and served fast. Soup is really lovely especially in the cold weather!Mains are lovely too. Would definitely recommend the steak, cooked perfectly and comes with the nicest sides, especially the onion rings!Staff are super friendly and work hard to deliver good service, also good at recommending new gins and cocktails. We tried one of the new gin cocktails which was a lovely break between courses.I had the bread and butter pudding for dessert, others in the group had cheese boards or opted to have one of the sweeter cocktails instead of a pud. We all loved them and stayed downstairs for a while to have more drinks and watched the band.I had a look at some of the weekday menus while I was there and it seems they have some amazing offers on so we've booked in to try these out!
15/03/2020: We started downstairs in the bar and tried some of the new cocktails, they were delicious! We were escorted to our table at our leisure.I had a starter of duck leg which was lovely. We both had steak which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. There is a wide choice of side and sauce included in the price. I chose the peppercorn sauce which was very tasty, I ended up ordering some more.We had a break before our desserts and enjoyed one of the lighter cocktails - The Butcher? For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding and trio of ice cream - both delicious and served promptly. We headed downstairs and managed to squeeze in a gin as there was some live music on.The staff are very helpful and attentive and happy to assist in giving allergen advice. The building is lovely, an old Masonic Hall I think, the first time I've dined in such a lovely place. We booked a table to return for my birthday!

Merchants 1688

Castle, Lancaster
13/03/2020: Fabulous food and service. Just passing through but if I lived closer this would be a regular haunt! Loved the environment and the service was exceptional!
09/03/2020: 5 of us went for lunch. Sandwiches, fish and chips and a special of bacon chop - all great but service was extremely slow. Building is fabulous and cosy. Only thing that let it down was the slowness of service and disinterest of staff
