McHalls Bistro

Claremont, Blackpool, <20£
17/12/2018: Just had an excellent experience at this very cosy restaurant for dinner, cannot believe it's taken me so long to visit, even though everyone speaks so highly of it. As the other reviewers are mentioning, the service is really second to none, very warm and welcoming. My roast lamb dinner was excellent!
09/12/2018: Warm welcome, very comfortable and homely restaurant. Chose this as an alternative to chains and pub grub.

Cheetham, Manchester, >100£
06/01/2019: Came here last Saturday to celebrate my sons 21st as this was where he wanted dine. We chose our own variety of sushi to start with followed by the Special sushi platter. All the sushi was good and fresh and it was nice to be able to eat and enjoy good quality fresh fish. Service was good as well and I may just book again for the wife’s birthday next month, so would certainly recommend Trying this Japanese restaurant in Manchester.
04/01/2019: The sashimi was incredibly good! I would definitely recommend. The sushi was good, but not different or better than other restaurants.

Squires Gate, Blackpool
12/12/2018: Not been to the restaurant for some time due to the fact it’s always busy .
25/11/2018: Family birthday meal. Staff very attentive, great atmosphere and fantastic food. Highly recommend this hidden gem.

Food by Breda Murphy

Whalley, Ribble Valley, 20-30£
14/12/2018: My wife and I had lunch last Saturday. Neither of us had been there before. Top class food which is beautifully presented. Reasonable prices. Would love to go back - perhaps this time using the restaurant upstairs. Thoroughly recommended.
12/12/2018: This is a lovely place with fantastic food. Today however, the slow service let them down.

Windermere Bowness South, South Lakeland, 20-30£
03/01/2019: Went for lunch here on our new Year Trip to Bowness, nice small cafe on the main street.
03/01/2019: We were looking for a spot to have a coffee when we arrived and we found Grace just off the Main Street. It was a lovely little cafe with excellent drinks. We had a flat white and a hot chocolate and they were both great. They had a large selection of drinks and the food looked great too! We even saw a leaflet in there with some ideas for walks and opted for one of these - it was absolutely lovely and the instructions were so useful! Would definitely recommend!

The Maple Tree

Marple North, Stockport, <20£
16/12/2018: First time visiting this restaurant this evening and it will be the first of many visits for sure. Let me start by saying what a warm and welcoming start to our visit. Sony went out of his way to ask our names and have a chat with us. What a refreshing change from many places I have been. He is lovely and so genuine. The food was the best Chinese food we have eaten in a long time and we often go to china town in Manchester. They do take away too which is great for us as it is well worth travelling to from Romiley to pick some up. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We had heard it was the best in our local area and it most definitely is. 5* all the way. Thank you
11/12/2018: Excellent quality, well cooked, appetising. Friendly and efficient staff. Quick service. Good value for money

Butchers Arms

Crosby Ravensworth, Eden
08/12/2018: We had been on a two and half hour walk on a cold windy day. In we went+ dog to sit beside a log burning stove for our lunch . Our dog was offered a drink even before we were .
21/11/2018: I went for a light lunch here the other day. The food was delicious (with perfect portion size). I had vegetable tagine which was beautifully seasoned and full of flavor. I had just enough room for a delicious pudding which was Sticky Toffee Pudding. Excellent Excellemt Excellent. I would 100% recommend this to anyone. So sad i live far away..

Lantern O'er Lune

Ellel,University, Lancaster
16/12/2018: I was in the area visiting granddaughter at the university and decided to take a nostalgic trip to Glasson Dock, a place I visited often when I was at uni in Lancaster many moons ago.
12/12/2018: The Cafe was situated next to the lock gates from the Basin to the floating Harbour of Glasson Marina. The staff were helpful, friendly and obviously enjoyed being hospitable. The Cafe is clean and bright. The food we had was perfect a real welcome lunch.

Royal Balti House

Farnworth, Bolton, 20-30£
18/12/2018: These guys keep getting better and better! The portions are huge and always absolutely delicious . The staff are very friendly and are really attentive. The best Indian in Bolton and would highly recommend.
18/12/2018: Oh my goodness, I cannot fault this place or the friendly people that work here! We are always welcomed in as if we are family and that’s what I love about the staff here. Ordered my absolute favourite dish- the king prawns and they just seem to be getting better! Love it here and we will definitely be back soon. Thank you

The Old Stamp House Restaurant

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland, 45-60£
17/12/2018: We rarely if ever eat in Ambleside, yet the Old Stamp House must be one of if not the best restaurants in town. The service is second to none, the food likewise and the wine (and other drinks including a local beer if you fancy it!) likewise. And it's such a cosy and convivial atmosphere, none of the stuffy near silence you experience in some high end eateries. And what's more, the food celebrates local produce almost without exception - there's no sushi or 'tapas' here! For the adventurous there's a multi-course tasting menu, but the 'a la carte' comes with complimentary breads and amuse bouches too, so no matter which menu you choose you're certain to enjoy a multi-faceted treat. This isn't simply dining - it's an occasion!! #hogget
12/12/2018: What I had to eat here did taste really nice. However, it just came across just slightly pretentious. Trying far to hard to be posh. The chef has the skill, no need to try too hard.

The Pheasant Inn

Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale, South Lakeland
12/12/2018: We came here on a Travelzoo Voucher. We have been here before and had excellent meals. My husband had the Game Suet Pudding which was the best pudding he had ever had. I had the Venison which was very tasty. We also could not fault the desserts. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and of great assistance helping us to choose what to have. All in all we really enjoyed the experience. We come here when we are on holiday in the area, it is a shame it is not nearer to where we live.
23/11/2018: The food here is always amazing and we decided to try out the burgers on the new lunch menu .... and they were delicious, best burgers we’ve had in a long time

Steam Bistro

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
03/01/2019: Best place to eat in Cumbria, been to steam a few times and never failed to give 100% in food and service! Went to steam last night and was the best meal we had had! Couldn’t recommend enough! Thankyou very much, atmosphere was fab!
02/01/2019: We have just returned from a Christmas break in Coniston and tried Steam for the evening, how glad we were. They catered perfectly for vegetarians and the service was attentive and efficient even though they were extremely busy. We had plentiful choice as non meat eaters and because we had notified in advance they also let us know what dishes could be adapted. Would highly recommend.

Stockton Heath, Warrington
18/12/2018: we were let down by another restaurant at the last minute we had booked for my Grandsons 18th they got a better offer of a party of 28 and there were only 10 of
16/12/2018: A bunch of colleagues and I went for a works doo, the food was bang average and then they tried to charge us an extra £60 on drinks saying we had ordered way more than we had. The service was terrible, the waiter trying to over charge us didn’t even say sorry and was extremely rude the whole time, we were being very calm about the situation even though they were trying to rob us. After we’d finally sorted the bill out, the waiter tried to say we were £30 short for no reason, we worked it out in front of him and he still didn’t even apologise at all, he just kept quiet and looked extremely shifty. The whole bill ordeal lasted about £20 minutes. Do not go here, there are plenty of better Indians in Warrington where the food and service are significantly better and they won’t attempt to rob you.

The Green Housekeeper Cafe

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
16/11/2018: A ly tea shop with generous portions and lots of options! Would definately come again if I was in the area!
15/11/2018: An excellent little caffe, that serves one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time, with two slices of toast that were proper 'door stoppers'. Very friendly and helpful staff. Their coffee exelent! 👍

The Brasserie

Poulton, Lancaster, <20£
19/12/2018: I have been coming to this restaurant for several years and have always been pleased with the food, prices etc. Unfortunately, the portions are now so mean that one leaves feeling quite hungry.
27/11/2018: We went as a large party of people, the service was good and friendly. Everybody enjoyed their food with no complaints at all, I had two starters and then had kleftiko for my main course. The food was excellent.
