05/09/2017: Great service. Good quality Japanese food in Manchester. It is the top one!! Recommended!!
05/09/2017: Pricey but excellent quality Japanese food.

McHalls Bistro

Claremont, Blackpool, <20£
21/08/2017: Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to McHalls, food was excellent and Daniel was very welcoming and attentive. My husband and I were glad of the recommendations and will not hesitate to book again (will mail you Daniel ;-) ) Helen
19/08/2017: This was our first time at McHalls and I am pleased to say that recommendations did not disappoint. The service was excellent as we were well looked after by Dan. The food was tasty and all our party of 7 enjoyed a variety of meals. One of the most pleasant eating experiences that we have had since we came to live in Blackpool over 30 years ago. We would strongly recommend a visit. We have already booked a return visit.

Food by Breda Murphy

Whalley, Ribble Valley, 20-30£
28/08/2017: Everything about Food By Breda Murphy is excellent!
20/08/2017: We went for an evening meal. Arrived at the table at 8. Food served at 8:45. Left at 9:10!Unfortunately, Breda took our order of lamb but didn't tell us that all we would get was a lamb and pretty much some dressing. No one asked us if the food was ok once it was served so there was no chance to ask for some veg or potatoes etc. Two small pieces of lamb and bit of garnish, as nice as it was, didn't take long to eat. She charged us for one main when we left but...won't go again. Ruined our evening. Advice to diners - have a starter, order extras with your main and expect a quiet night.

Mi Casa Su Casa

Bispham, Blackpool, 20-30£
18/08/2017: This little Gem of a place is a must for anyone who lives on the Lancashire coast or anyone visiting Blackpool but Book early .
18/08/2017: friendly quality service with fantastic food free parking just round the corner. The seafood platter was fantastic and we had the Spanish omelette as a tasty starter, sweets seem to be home made.

Cartmel and Grange West, South Lakeland, >100£
22/08/2017: I won't expand upon the long list of detailed breakdowns of the food just to add that its a slice of culinary theatre performed to perfection.Like a theatre you have to have an audience to respond and unfortunately on our particular night (9th August) we were seated next to a table of 4 who were having a really good time.... It appears my wife resembled a good friend of one of the group who rather loudly thought this a fact worth multiple mentions. This behaviour went on throughout the meal with each course rated for our thoughts particularly annoying as they were a little ahead of us.When the black maria arrived to take them on one of the party came over to apologise for having "ruined our evening" Cheers! So why say this? well it matters at £700.00 that the restaurant should intervene and ask for some calming, possibly even stop plying drinks at a person who is clearly worse for wear.We could see the staff struggling with the problem but unable to think of a response that would have not made the situation worse. Difficult I know but instead of a wonderful memory of such a lovely place its the audience behaviour that clings to the memory. I understand our close location played a part but we were not the only affected party.Scoring not really relevant but amongst the five stars it might stand out!
21/08/2017: 6 of us booked for a Saturday lunch. As it was someone's birthday we were offered the Chefs table. This was an amazing experience, the table is in a separate development kitchen and we sat in a line watching the chefs. We had Alexandra who has cooked in 3* restaurants and was so passionate and Tash who was training which was fab to see.The food was amazing as expected a mushroom and wasabi dish being my favourite. But who would have thought that a bread and butter course could be a winner too!!The wines (not the flight) were excellent too. From start to finish 4 hours later I loved every minute and at £55 it was an absolute bargain.

Duke's, Sefton, 20-30£
19/08/2017: Highly enjoyable meal at this chef-owned hotel. We had a great meal with excellent service. Coming up from London, where a similar meal would cost a lot more, we were pleasantly surprised at the great value and the high quality. We would definitely recommend Volare to anyone visiting Southport.
17/08/2017: Dinner for two was excellent, great food, service good, small, with a cozy atmosphere, and one of the best Saltimboccas I've had in a long while

Steam Bistro

Coniston and Crake Valley, South Lakeland
20/08/2017: What a lovely restaurant. They found us a table at short notice to celebrate results day. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the venue itself is beautifully decorated and has a laid back feel. What a find - will be back when we next visit Coniston.
19/08/2017: We had a wonderful night here with exemplary service and good food and will definitely be coming back. The menu is simple but cooked well with it being sourced locally...the one thing I would suggest is that the red cabbage served with the shepherds pie needs to pack more punch with maybe more wine vinegar, sugar and spices added...sorry just me putting my chef hat on...but really just sit back and enjoy as its very rare these days to receive this level of service and good food in 1 place its by far the place to eat in the area including hawkshead in my opinion.

The Old Stamp House Restaurant

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland, 45-60£
20/08/2017: We visited this place for the first time, having seen it reviewed in the Sunday Times, you need to book for sure, especially on an evening, we visited on a lunchtime and was still busy.Small place, not too many covers, down the stairs into a basement, well laid out, clean and tidy with soft music playing in the background.Very professional, polite and helpful staff, not a large menu and we chose the 6 course taster menu at £35 each. The food was stunning, every course, superb presentation and tastes, no question of Michelin Star quality. The word of caution - if you use the bathroom facilities, be careful as you go down a small staff from the restaurant area into a corridor towards the toilets, it is a different stone flooring and we both found it slippy, whilst we were there, a poor lady slipped and fell and was in significant distress, wasn't a nice thing to see as we were about to leave, we hope the lady is o k.
19/08/2017: Wow! Amazing place and great service. They allocate table timings nicely spaced out so that they can comfortable meet and great people. On seating you will be greeted by the chef who will pour you a delicious welcome drink of sorts. We had the full tasting menu and wine pairing. I am sometimes a little fussy but the food was so amazing I had no complaints. Often with tasting menus i find myself uncomfortably stuffed but I felt so pleasantly content by the end of the meal. The staff all clearly work so so hard to make it an enjoyable meal for their customers. Great experience. Give yourself atleast 3 hours to enjoy it if you're booking a return taxi!

Squires Gate, Blackpool
18/08/2017: Returned to Ambrosinis tonight and had another excellent meal. Shared starters of garlic bread with chilli, calamari, Italian sausage and anti pasto, all of which was delicious. Had lasagne for my main, the best I've ever eaten, and managed to squeeze in the homemade sticky toffee pudding for dessert. If you haven't eaten here yet, you need to.
14/08/2017: Visiting Blackpool, having lived here for years, I was not up to speed on where to eat. A friend had recommended Ambrosini's and finding that we would be free on a Friday night, we were lucky to obtain a booking. It is ideally located near the end of the Promenade at Squires Gate, so we jumped on a bus.On arrival, we found the small restaurant to be delightfully appointed. The friendly service was amazing and very attentive. All to often, when you dine out, you wait for service, order your meals, then wait for your drinks to appear with the meal. Not here, they serve them up-front resulting in us in enjoying more than one bottle of wine at realistic prices. Our starters of Insalata Caprese and Salsiccia were absolutely beautiful..I loved the spicy Italian sausage, particularly! The Linguine Broccoli & Prawns was devoured by my wife and the Sea Bass dish on the Specials menu was top notch with very tasty ingredients. As it was a night off from grandchildren minding we went the full hog with tiramisu and coffee. A complimentary limoncello capped off a fabulous dining-out experience.Italian restaurants, during my years in Blackpool, were always great places for a night out and Ambrosini's provided the very welcoming experience you associate with good Italian restaurants, matched with food quality. We will look to revisit on our next visit.

Amigos Cafe & Bistro

Haydock, St. Helens
06/09/2017: Beautiful place great coffee and service😊
25/08/2017: Had a fantastic lunch at amino today with 3 friends food and service great would definitely recommend to others

Duke's, Sefton, >100£
21/08/2017: We only had a one night stay in Southport and stayed just around the corner from this little gem. Despite a tripadvisor map it is not easy to find but well worth the effort. We booked days ahead and I would recommend you do this if you want a table at this cosy and intimate bistro. The menu is limited but adequate with something for most people. We opted for the taster menu which was beautifully presented and offered an insight to the menu if we were to visit again. We were given a lovely welcome, I can understand why they are number 1 on TripAdvisor. Outstanding!
20/08/2017: We had a family sharing menu at this bistro, the food was terrific, staff outstanding, I can not recommend this restaurant enough.. It is a small restaurant, however if you are in southport, you must book in and try the food.. Top notch...

The Art School

Princes Park, Liverpool, 60-100£
22/08/2017: I went to this restaurant for my birthday with my husband. The staff were so welcoming and attentive from start to finish- the lady who welcomed us, the gentleman on the bar who made us delicious cocktails and the waiting staff. The food was delicious. It would be lovely if this place had some background music as it would have created a much more relaxing atmosphere, even if it was some classical piano music- something very soft in the background.
19/08/2017: What an amazing restaurant to have in Liverpool. We chose the 3 course menu the lambs tongue with the amazing black pudding was a great starter. Main course we both chose the duck breast which was perfectly cooked. Great wine list. Only two issues I did tell one of the waitresses it was my wife’s birthday and she said they could write happy birthday on the desert plate. No happy birthday. Also maybe they could change the music to something more suitable for this great restaurant.

Dining with Distinction

East, Bury
22/08/2017: My wife took a half-day off from work to experience this. We travelled on the train and tram and arrived with 30 minutes to spare. We then hung about for 40 minutes waiting, then got told that the generator had broken down and the trip was cancelled. It was a birthday treat for me that our daughters had bought and paid for. The advertisement states that they are beautifully restored pullman style coaches, but it is all for show if the basic structure is not being updated as wellWe were offered an identical menu on the future date of 18th November. Their blurb states. "Journeying through the charming Lancashire countryside soaking up the picturesque panoramas as you go"...... At 7-30pm on the 18th Nov all you will see of any "panorama" is pitch darkness. No! not for me, it's same time next year or our money back. I would advise anybody booking this trip to make sure that the generator has been replaced before they part with any money.
16/08/2017: We visited for midweek luncheon on Wednesday 16th August. The whole experience was so enjoyable. Very comfortable seating, delicious, well-prepared food and excellent service from the ladies and gentlemen of the catering team. Thanks for a lovely afternoon.

Rattle Gill Cafe

Ambleside and Grasmere, South Lakeland
20/08/2017: My husband and I are vegan and visited the Rattle Gill Cafe a few times during our two week stay in the Lake District. The food was absolutely delicious, very reasonably priced and served quickly even when it was busy. The staff were warm, polite and very accommodating. We will definitely come back when we visit Ambleside again!
19/08/2017: We had coffee and cake which was average. The flat white was boiling temperature and not enjoyable. My scone was ok but not as good as others in Ambleside. Worth noting it is cash only. The location is beautiful but cake and drink didn't live up to expectations.

Windermere Bowness South, South Lakeland, <20£
21/08/2017: Excellent, friendly and quick service. Good food at a good price. First time visit. Lots of choice and well prepared meal.
21/08/2017: Was so good here we came back twice, amazing milkshake and wonderful cake too.The place is clearly popular but tables were cleared promptly , staff were very friendly and the price I though was very reasonable for the best milkshake ever .
