The Glasshouse

Kew, Richmond upon Thames, 45-60£
04/12/2019: Sunday lunch for my partner's birthday. Joined by her daughter and son-in-law. (Their recommendation.) Outstanding! Right from the warm welcome to when we were given our coats at the end the service was excellent. And the food ............ Wow! between the four of us we had Tandoori mackerel, artichoke velouté or roasted cauliflower to start followed by pork belly (wonderful) stone bass or roasted cod and finished off with roasted pear, malted custard tart (with an outstanding stout ice cream!) or hot chocolate croutard. The quality and presentation were both tremendous. (Forgot to mention the bread; walnut or sour dough. Both very good.)
27/11/2019: We went for a meal on the spur of the moment on a Tuesday eveing and were very lucky to get a table. great service, very thoughtful staff and the food was fantastic. Enjoyed every minute

Awesome Thai

Barnes, Richmond upon Thames, <20£
05/12/2019: The food was very good and the staff are very friendly. Thai fish cakes are extremely tasty and the steak was excellent.
03/12/2019: Saw the good reviews, and booked for a post-cinema dinner. We were not disappointed, in fact the restaurant was even better than we'd expected. Truly one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to in London (where I live) ; I have also visited Thailand several times on business and found this local Barnes place to be seemingly quite authentic. It was crowded, but the service was faultless and friendly, and helpful with advice when we asked. The food was tasty and sufficient; the recommended wine complemented the food and the price was modest. If I lived nearer, I'd be going there very often.

Al Boccon Di'vino is Non Solo Vino

South Richmond, Richmond upon Thames, >100£
09/12/2019: This is a restaurant that I have visited 5 - 10 times now, and always enjoy my afternoon/evening there.
02/12/2019: We went to Richmond a few months ago and read about this place before we went and decided to pop along and see if we could get a table. Silly me. It is pretty well booked up all the time and you need to book in advance. We were going back to visit kew Gardens Christmas lights last weekend so we decided to book here on one of our nights. There is no menu, and no prices, but not knowing what you were going to eat was all part of the charm. Very small cosy restaurant, 38 covers, and so you do sit in very close proximity to others but again no worries. The owner invites you in sits you down and gives you a little information as to what to expect and take your drinks order. We had house wine, which was the cheapest option at £30, but was very pleasant anyway. I fancied a beer and the 'artisan' beer was recommended. it was a 75cl bottle and was lovely so I had another one!! The food was amazing, we lost count of number of courses but they were all good, different and very tasty. The main course was a succulent piece of pork. This was a great fun night, great food, nice atmosphere, great beer, good wine and all in all a great night out. I would highly recommend booking to go here and can not wait to go back. 'Artisan' beer, £15 per bottle. I am glad I enjoyed it so much. The house wine as I say was £30 per bottle and the meal was £60 per head and well worth every penny.

01/12/2019: Great food and excellent service everytime I come here for a Sunday Roast. You can get a small plate or Large plate; I have what I like to call a healthy appetite so I go for the Large plate, well worth it. Excellent value for money.

Chai Naasto - Hammersmith

Barnes, Richmond upon Thames, 20-30£
04/12/2019: Disappointed, not as good as when it was Chai Naasto, so now overpriced and not as tasty.
01/12/2019: Tasty Indian food with a little original twist. I ordered 3 dishes because I was starving and ate 2 1/2 of them. Good service, nice staff, warm atmosphere. Good food. A bit pricey, but a nice treat.

Umame Restaurant & Bar

Hampton Wick, Richmond upon Thames, 20-30£
05/09/2019: I would like to be able to say our group of 12 work associates ate dinner here and had a great tome but I have called several times and there is no answer and all five of my emails to request a reservation have gone unanswered. So, we’ve booked at Browns and I’m sure we’ll have a great time!!!
31/08/2019: Went here for a evening out celebrating my wife's 40th birthday. We decided to eat from the tapas menu, which was an extension of the starter menu. It's a very pretty restaurant with good service. We had 6 dishes plus bread followed by a shared dessert, which plenty of food for our appetite. The lamb, chorizo, ham croquets, and tempura asparagus was excellent. We also had the chickpea dish and the green beans, which weren't quite at the same level. The green bean dish was supposed to contain sun-dried tomatoes but instead they were cherry tomatoes which made the dish taste very different. The chocolate brownie for dessert was also excellent. The only other minor let down in hour mean was that we paid £4 for bread to start and it was 4 thin slices of bread, albeit very tasty with the butter.

Dysart Arms

Ham, Petersham and Richmond Riverside, Richmond upon Thames
09/12/2019: We booked for one of the Sunday evening piano recitals with dinner to follow. Having arrived a little early, we had fun at the bar discussing The Dysart's well-curated selection of gins with the charming staff (as well as drinking an expertly prepared G&T;) The set dinner which followed the amazing & intimate concert, was outstandingly good. Pickled mackerel with fermented gooseberry, roast hake (possibly the best we've eaten) with chestnut puree, sprouts & celeriac then verbena creme brulee & a silky chocolate bombe. There were also little extras - amuse bouches light as a feather & fine petit fours with the excellent coffee. We loved the inspired wine list, great selection by the glass too & relatively sensible pricing. The room is perfectly lit & cosily atmospheric. Service was spot-on & the staff all absolutely charming. We had the most magical evening & can't wait to go back; the newly awarded Michelin star is so well-deserved, a great credit to a fantastic team.
30/11/2019: We enjoyed a wonderful weekday lunch from the 3 course £29.50 menu.

The Voujon

Mortlake and Barnes Common, Richmond upon Thames
02/12/2019: Came here on a recommendation. However the food was sub-standard. Dishes were too heavily spiced and inedible. Chicken very dry & the lamb tough as old boots. The waiting staff kept coming to our table too often and interupting our conversation with too many personal questions. We wanted to catch up as friends not share our life story with the staff. They try too hard to impress and fail miserably. We wont be back anytime soon.
17/11/2019: A great meal with friends. Good service throughout and made to feel most welcome. Did our best to drain the bar too. Food all enjoyed and followed recommendations from our waiter. Felt fine later and next day, not a bad thing. The chef came out and explained how he tries to keep fat content low thanks to tips from his mother.

The Mute Swan

Hampton, Richmond upon Thames, <20£
01/12/2019: Absolutely superb food and spot on portion sizes rather than loading up a giant plate of roast. The suet game pie was perfect - good strong winter flavours, particularly well matched with red cabbage.
30/11/2019: Wonderful Extremely busy great staff We booked a table for four of us food amazing Parking is a problem but apparently there is parking over the bridge by the train station Recommend you go and try it book a table
