Maximo Italian Bistrot

Prince's, Lambeth, 20-30£
11/01/2021: Great food, very helpful staff, great prices! Recommend!
17/12/2020: Don't judge a book by it's cover, this place may not look like much from passing, but we were pleasantly surprised with the place once entered. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, although this is hardly surprising as we visited mid pandemic, the decor made up for this, with a very homely ambiance. The food was overall appetizing, the starters could have had a bit more oomph to them but were enjoyable none the less. The mains, however, did not suffer the same fate, we had no complaints and left us feeling sated. Cheap and cheerful, would recommend for fun little meal out.

Halo Burger

Coldharbour, Lambeth
29/03/2021: The food tastes good but seriously how can you justify two tiny burgers and 2 tiny sides for over £30... I dont believe the pricing reflects your ingredient/sourcing. The "double patty" is more like a normal vegan burger sliced in half and the £7 chicken nuggets are so small you could fit all of them in the palm of your hand. Its shame most vegan places are over priced but this one really takes that to the extreme. I'd have given 4 or 5 stars if I didnt feel so ripped off
26/03/2021: Is delicious! Better then a normal burger. Loved. Delivery is very fast.

Trinity

Clapham Town, Lambeth, 45-60£
18/12/2020: I spent my birthday here and I could not choose a better place.Let me start saying that covid 19 is not a problem, they take all the right measures to keep you safe but be sure that this doesn't affect the service, you can see the waiters smiling through their eyes.Ralf took care of me extremely well, he wasn't to intrusive and he was just the best; Trust me I can be a really nightmare for waiters considering that I am a manager who works in hospitality :)When he realised it was my birthday he gave me a card with written happy birthday from all the staff in their own language, I really appreciate it.The food was amazing, there are no words to describe chef Adams and his team.I loved everything, expecially the starterDuck Liver Parfait, Chilled Christmas Consomme, Aged Madeira which was just amazing. The rest of the lunch set menu was incredible.Once again thanks chef Adam and Ralph to make my birthday so special.I will come back.
07/12/2020: A visit to Trinity Restaurant had been a long time coming so therefore I'm now delighted to say that after today I can finally cross it of my list. I'm also delighted to say that the expectations I had before were not only met but surpassed in every department as the food , wine & service was excellent. I'd seen chef Adam Byatt on the television many times and had become a big fan. Then with hearing amazing feedback from friends I have in the hospitality industry only enhanced our decision to visit his restaurant. So on a chilli sunny saturday we headed from essex to south west london. We arrived at Clapham Common and made the short five minute walk to the restaurant. We entered the restaurant and received a warm and friendly welcome before first having our temperature taken and then sanitising our hands. We were then escorted to our table which was just in front of the reception desk and gave us a great view of the open kitchen. We were then given the drinks menu to order an aperitif. We decided to order a beer and the Trinity gin & tonic which we enjoyed while look at the food menu. Then it was time to meet manager Ashley who came over and welcomed us to the restaurant before asking if we had any questions regarding the menu. On that front there was a choice of two menus the four course lunch or the six course tasting menu. Our decision was to opt for the lunch menu with an addition of a cheese course. Then it was time to meet the sommelier to choose some wine and after a little chat in which he was very helpful and made some great recommendations we finally came to a decision. We started with a some homemade crackers and a small selection of charcuterie. This was followed by our first basket of bread and butter.First CourseThis led us onto our first course where we chose the Warm Salad of Chestnuts , Jerusalem Artichoke & Black Truffle that was a rich yet fabulous dish. For myself I chose the Beef Tartare with Pickled Mushrooms & Oscietra Caviar which was absolutely stunning and definitely one of the best tartare's I've ever tasted.Second CourseIf the first courses were a delight then two more amazing dishes were about to follow as I ordered the Warm Goose Terrine en Croute with Pickled Walnuts that was simply heaven on a plate. My wife decided to go for the supplement dish and a favourite the Cacio e Pepe with White Truffles and the verdict was an outstanding success.Third CourseNow it was time for the main course where my wife opted for the Blanquette of Cornish Monkfish that was beautifully cooked on the bone. I decided to keep my rich dish theme going with the Short Rib of Beef , Duchess Potatoes & Smoked Bone Marrow that once again was another amazing plate of food.Cheese CourseBefore moving on to dessert we decided to opt for a cheese course where you had the option to pick three out of the six cheeses available. We chose the Westcombe Cheddar , Beaufort Alpage & Cromwell Bishop Stilton. These were accompanied with a side salad , small baguette , apple & chutney.DessertWe now moved to dessert where we had already pre booked the Apple Tarte Tatin. Well let me put it this way when it was offered there was no way I could refuse. It came with Prune & Armagnac ice cream that really complimented the tarte and of course some cream. I have to say it was absolutely delicious. So that's it and after finishing with tea & coffee our first visit to Trinity had come to an end. The food from Adam and his talented chefs was amazing as every dish was just bursting with an abundance of flavour , the sommelier was very good and the wines he recommended were perfect , the service led by manager Ashley was excellent as everyone was so friendly & professional. So it will now come as no surprise when I say that I would highly recommend a visit which is something I will definitely be doing again in the new year.Thank You Adam , Ashley and all the team for a fantastic lunch and look forward to seeing you all again soon.#SupportHospitality

Locale - County Hall

Bishop's, Lambeth, 30-45£
14/12/2020: This place really is a fabulous little "locale", We had wonderful service, delicious high quality food and a wonderful bottle of pinot as suggested by our waiter. Relaxed and lovely atmosphere all in a very COVID secure environment. Sometimes you just find a little gem and we certainly will be returning. I forgot to say if you like a chocolate dessert go for the "fondante al cioccolatto" - DELICIOUS. Grazie Mille locale..
11/12/2020: Fabulous Restaurant which I visited shortly after the second lockdown with my husband. Delicious high quality food accompanied by a bottle of Prosecco.Staff were friendly, welcoming and restaurant followed all Covid secure protocols. Please support the independent businesses and not the chains! Fernando was our waiter and service was impeccable and the owner was charming and helpful. Happy Christmas to the team and good luck for 2021!

Cafe Ishaq

Bishop's, Lambeth
31/10/2020: We came here as a family of four on Thursday night. We were visiting London and had seen the reviews and thought we would try it! We were not disappointed - we found a lovely authentic Indian, staff were fab and very friendly, it is obviously a very difficult time for restaurants and they really do need the support. The food was fantastic, full of flavour and good portions. We will definitely visit again when we come back down to London!

Metro Garden Restaurant & Bar

Clapham Common, Lambeth, >100£
09/11/2020: We were in the area, which is not our usual stamping ground, for a show. Had a pretheatre meal here. Excellent food, lovely lively atmosphere, great service. Unfortunately it is too far for us to frequent it. Such a pity. The only downside was that the food took so long to arrive that we had to take it away. However the restaurant was very busy and the bottle of wine we drank whilst waiting was taken off the bill and the staff were extremely apologetic. I certainly wouldn't hold this against them.
02/11/2020: We’ve been coming for Sunday lunch at Metro fairly regularly over the years but realised I haven’t ever left a review for it before. Just wanted to say that, yet again, yesterday’s delicious and generously-portioned roast lamb, crunchy roast potatoes and AMAZING homemade jus were all fantastic. The ambience, environment and atmosphere are always superb, whether in the garden, the marquee area with fireplace or inside the actual cosy restaurant. The owner, Fran, and her whole team are so friendly and attentive; nothing is ever too much trouble despite us often being a rather raucous and demanding bunch! We don’t bother with any of the other pubs in Clapham for Sunday lunch anymore because Metro actually costs a bit less and you get proper, good quality, well presented cooking in a gorgeous setting with the wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. See you on the other side of lockdown!

The Clapham North

Larkhall, Lambeth
04/01/2021: It’s been a while since I’ve been able to attend the Clapham North, I’ve been only about 4 times that was around 2019-2020 before the covid happened. With everything going on I wasn’t able to write any commentary until now, and as I have nothing better to do with loads of time on my hands I thought I should definitely write a review. Anyway I’ll get to the point, on the four occasions I have visited the pub, there was one particular lady that stood out to me and my family the most, I think her name was Nadia? Very stunning looking lady, she had the most beautiful long locks, kinda looked like Lisa Bonet, Zoe kravits Mother? Was always immaculately well put together and really stylish. Anyway I digress, I have to say although it’s a pub and on the occasions I came in for brunch, lunch and dinner, Nadia was our server, she was consistently on point. Nadia always had great energy, always made us laugh, even creeped me and my family out (in a good way), with guessing all of our star signs correctly, as there was six of us at the table, we were blown away by how thorough she was. Nadia made sure our water was constantly topped up, she made sure to ask if we needed extra drinks, anything we needed she was on top of it already as she was super attentive. Unfortunately for me the food wasn’t that fantastic, as I found everything bland with not much flavour, however my family loved the flavourless food. The top notch service from Nadia made the vibe always welcoming, fun and memorable. I can honestly say Nadia provided a service that belongs in a TOP Star hotel, or restaurants in the West End, Clapham North are lucky to have her, as she made all of mine and families experience an awesome one. I’d give a 2 out 10 for food, 10 out 10 for service, vibes, and good energy from Nadia. Lastly before I finish we wanted to tip Nadia a hundred pounds, but Nadia turned the money down, she stated she enjoys what she does, and it was a pleasure to serve us, and insisted if we wanted to tip, to put the money in the tip jar at the bar, so that she can share with her colleagues, now that was very admirable, and very sweet because I wouldn’t do that if I was doing all the work on my own. Oh one other thing we didn’t really care for, was the bar manger, not sure of his name, I just remember he was very short, black straight hair, very miserable, and had a weird sounding voice, kept on interfering with our table when Nadia had everything under control already, that kinda annoyed all of us. Aside from that will be returning when covid is over with the family, and we all hope Nadia will still be there. 💞
14/12/2020: Had a great night at the Raclette pop up restaurant. The food was excellent, the staff were attentive and despite covid restrictions on capacity there was a great vibe and buzz about the place. It was such a treat to be 'out, out' and I was happy we went to The North!

The food is really good, portions more than generous and the service is excellent. The menu is extensive and my wife had fish and chips. The fish was flaky and beautifully cooked. La Barca Ristorante

Bishop's, Lambeth
12/12/2020: We had been to The Imperial War museum and were looking for lunch - with an 8 year old. While there was no children’s menu they were happy to serve a half portion of whatever he wanted. The pasta was fabulous, quick and friendly service. My son even got three lollies at the end so was very happy! You would t go wrong at La Barca
05/12/2020: We were staying close to Waterloo and didn’t fancy travelling too far for dinner. We stumbled across La Barca, so booked a table. Honestly, the restaurant was just fabulous. The food and service was wonderful. We have been to many Italian restaurants over the years and this rates up there as one of the best. Thank you so much to all of the staff for giving us such a great night.
