The Fighting Cocks

Littlebury, Uttlesford, <20£
26/01/2019: Popped in after walking with dog. Had lovely table and great customer service from the young man.
26/01/2019: How pub grub should be, unpretentious great tasting food. The pie was to die for and a desserts that were too tempting to resist.

Rose and Crown

Stansted North, Uttlesford, >100£
08/02/2019: The Rose & Crown is listed on a local dog-friendly FB group, so we went for lunch with a friend & our dog & so happy that we did.
06/02/2019: Fantastic lunch, good choice on the menu, best chips ever tasted, very friendly staff,we would definitely recommend.

Fleur De Lys

Newport, Uttlesford
07/02/2019: We found this place accidentally and had such a wonderful evening and brilliant food and drink. The owners fantastic customer service is just what you need to make the difference from a good to a memorable experience.
07/02/2019: Considering this charming little pub/restaurant is tucked away in the countryside, it is always busy . And small wonder given the setting on the high street of a characterful, medieval village, in a building that has been a pub for hundreds of years . As you enter there is a warm welcome ,as well as a log fire, beamed ceilings, uneven floors , all the trappings to create the ambiance for a hearty , relaxing repast . You are not disappointed. The menu is unpretentious, but with interesting specials board. The venison is full of taste and cooked as requested. My pigeon breast is perfect, with a well-matched sauce .

Samui Thai Cuisine

Barnston and High Easter, Uttlesford, 30-45£
03/02/2019: I must be getting boring with this but another visit last night and yet again food and service was excellent. Highly recommended
27/01/2019: Had been a while since we had visited, not disappointed a delicious meal, I had forgotten about the range of dishes. We shared everything, some lovely tastes. We were looked after by a few of the waiting staff, all very friendly and happy to help. Won't leave it so long next time.

The Crown Little Walden

Saffron Walden Castle, Uttlesford
14/02/2019: This was a return trip to this very busy pub for lunch. Good atmosphere and nicely cooked food. Lovely open fire as warm as the welcome. Very friendly staff ,it was very busy but they did not make you feel rushed and we will go again.
07/02/2019: My brother and I were driving back from Birmingham and decided to come off the M11 to find somewhere for dinner.

Clavering Lakes & Lodge

Littlebury, Uttlesford
15/01/2019: Sadly, this wonderful place has closed down, as of 2 Jan 2019. It is hoped it will reopen again soon, with new management. A gem of a place, in a beautiful setting, that I and many family & friends have visited since it opened. Thoughts and best wishes go to previous management. So sad.
06/01/2019: This place has become our regular group bike ride destination. Its great for coffee and bacon roll or cake. What sets it apart from other places is the location. It's off the beaten-track with lovely view across fishing lakes and open fields. Prices are reasonable and the staff are always helpful and welcoming despite us showing up in cycle shoes and lycra! :-)

Tea Amo Cafe

Saffron Walden Audley, Uttlesford
03/02/2019: This is truly a lovely tea shop. A little gem in Saffron Walden, where the food is delicious and the staff attentive and friendly .
24/01/2019: Had warm cheese scones (come with salad, cheese and pickle) tea and coffee absolutely delicious! Lovely little tea room with warm and friendly welcome will be back to try more of the yummy looking goodies!

The Three Willows

Birchanger, Uttlesford, <20£
13/02/2019: We looked at reviews for a meal near Stansted airport and thought we would give it a try.
03/02/2019: Went here on a Saturday evening without booking as we were going straight from Stansted airport and weren't sure about arrival time etc. The restaurant was full but we were told we could have our food at a table in the bar area which suited us fine. The man behind the bar was really friendly and bought our drinks over quickly. The waiting staff didn't quite seem so efficient as they took a long time to come over and take our order even though they appeared to be standing together chatting. That said the food was delicious, especially the home made steak and ale pie which had big chunks of meat in. Would go here again either on the way to the airport or on arrival as it is so close and the food 100% better than airport food.

Saffron Walden Audley, Uttlesford, 30-45£
07/02/2019: We were here early, and felt as if we were an inconvenience, despite having pre-ordered. There was no warmth in the initial approach, and not too much in the food, which I can only describe as adequate.
25/01/2019: There are half a dozen tables in a cellar. Access is via brick steps down to the cellar. It is a quiet, intimate space. The menu is influenced by north-African recipes, so expect a tangine to be on the menu. There is usually a fixed price menu and an a la carte menu. Excellent range of wines at modest prices. Wine by the glass also available. Friendly, efficient service. Last night: three courses, bottle of wine and coffees for three came to about £100.

The Spotted Dog

Barnston and High Easter, Uttlesford, 30-45£
07/02/2019: 24 of us were booked for Sunday lunch last week and we couldn't have had a better time. It must have been tough for the kitchen and waiting staff to handle all of us together but we never had to wait for anything.
10/01/2019: Arrived early with my wife and dinner and settled down for pre-dinner drinks whilst I open my cards and presents. We were shown to our table after sometime and chose our food. I had spicy fish cakes for starter and steak Diane for main which was delicious. Sweet was the huge cheese board which I shared with my wife. We came and went in a taxi so I also enjoyed a pint earlier on and a bottle of Merlot with the meal!

Fulton's Chop House

Great Dunmow South, Uttlesford
30/01/2019: Had a great evening celebrating my 60th birthday here in one of the private function rooms.
29/01/2019: After a 3 hour journey we arrived in Dunmow.

The Gate

Saffron Walden Shire, Uttlesford, >100£
13/02/2019: This is the second time I have been to the Gate and was as good as the first. The lunch menu is very good. We were a party of twelve but didn’t have to wait too long for our food. Staff very attentive and friendly.
10/02/2019: We met friends here for lunch the other day, nice warm open fire greeted you plenty of seating and good parking. Nice menu plenty of options including traditional pizza oven. We all had different selections from the menu and we all enjoyed our food. The waiter and waitress lacked a bit of personality they were not really friendly at all, not rude, but just not engaging. Overall we enjoyed our meal and the place was busy so quite a nice buzzy atmosphere. The pizzas are good here.

The Butchers Arms

The Rodings, Uttlesford, <20£
22/01/2019: Went with my husband and granddaughters on Friday.Enjoyed a very good meal. The landlady was extremely friendly and accommodating. Both food and service were really good. We have been before in summertime for a meal with the family one time and just sat outside for a drink the second time. There is a very good outside play area for children also. This is an excellent pub for family meals.
17/01/2019: I love coming into my local pub The Butchers Arm. It’s such a lovely environment and great atmosphere. As a vegetarian I often struggle to find Pubs that cater with a good men-u choice. I had the vegetarian lasagne on my recent visit - Spinach and ricotta with pine nuts and it was the best vegetarian meal I’ve eaten out before. All the staff are very welcoming and I enjoy coming here for food and drink for these reasons.

Lower Street Brasserie

Stansted North, Uttlesford, 30-45£
30/12/2018: I visited with my sister in October and in November with a friend and on both occasions we had a really lovely lunch. I have been many times before but have not written a review for some time. It is such a lovely setting and the staff are always helpful and friendly and the food is always very good.
11/12/2018: Not been for a while but the restaurant is lovely . Attentive staff, very well cooked food. Especially loved the fish and chips for lunch . I always recommend people to go . And other people do too.

The Cork House Bar Bistro
