Maison Bleue Restaurant

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
17/04/2019: Had an amazing evening meal here to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Service was exceptional and the food was nothing but perfection. We both opted for the 3 course set menu, which had 5 each of starter, main & desserts to choose from, plenty of variety and an excellent price at £36.50 per head. All the staff were very tentative from start to finish. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Fine dining at it’s very best !
17/04/2019: We visit Maison bleau so many times and every time we come away saying it’s fab . Each course did not disappoint, wine at very reasonable prices. Service as always polite , helpful and there when you wed them but not in your face . We will be back

Pea Porridge

Eastgate, St Edmundsbury
14/04/2019: My friend and I like to treat ourselves to a meal at Pea porridge as often as possible . Our meals were so good and the service excellent. I always feel that I've had enough to eat too . They really have it just right.
14/04/2019: My wife and I booked this restaurant for our wedding anniversary. There is absolutely no doubt that it came up to the standard as reported by other guests. The menu had some really unusual choices all of which appeared mouthwartingly good. Our choice of snails for starters and muncjack for our mains were exceedingly tasty. And oh the chocolate pudding was almost too much (I jest).

1921 Angel Hill

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
09/04/2019: This restaurant serves lovely food present in a very artful way - truly first class. The serving staff were fantastic - very professional but very friendly and funny, they made our evening! Would definitely go there again
07/04/2019: The ambition of this restaurant is palpable. Not that that’s a bad thing but care must be taken that the look does not take precedence over the eating pleasure. Don’t get me wrong this is very very good food but imho some details could be improved.

Casa del Mar

Eastgate, St Edmundsbury, 20-30£
28/03/2019: Me and my partner went for early dinner tonight and Casa did not disappoint. Lovely friendly vibe, quality service and the most yummiest food. Go for the prawns and the chorizo in red wine! Thank you so much :)
28/03/2019: Had a great night. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Personal service and fab cocktails. Loved the after dinner mint....

Leaping Hare

Stanton, St Edmundsbury
14/04/2019: Just went along for coffee and cookies (served warm) which were very good, friendly service too. A very nice setting and a good shop with an interesting range of stuff too.
09/04/2019: Very nice country style Café and Restaurant - the staff where very gracious and attentive

White Horse Pub

Chedburgh, St Edmundsbury, <20£
14/04/2019: Caught the roadside sign and followed it on a Sunday lunchtime. Sign of a good roast pork is always extra gravy and good crackling. Wonderfully served and presented.
13/04/2019: We have visited the White Horse on several occasions and always found the service and food to be very good.My one complaint is the dogs,I know it is a dog friendly pub but not everyone likes dogs in the eating areas and I think they could resolve this by having one room dog free.

Baileys 2 - Coffee and Tearooms

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
24/03/2019: Lovely place to relax and have a drink of coffee or tea and a bite to eat! Food is prepared on the premises and very tasty. Service is always prompt, very friendly staff, No 1 cafe in Bury St Edmunds, without doubt! The cafe has won many awards. Would recommend this cafe to anyone.
09/03/2019: I recently visited Baileys 2 with my sister for light lunch. We had the most delicious cheese scones (and I’ve tried a lot of cheese scones over the years!)

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
15/04/2019: Fantastic, locally sourced produce, expertly cooked, with great service. The menu is seasonally based and usually has at least one meat that is direct from the owners' own smallholding. This was served in a lamb pie which was probably the best I've ever eaten!
09/04/2019: Having visited Bens a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, we thought we would try it again.

The Wickhambrook Greyhound & Twenty One

Wickhambrook, St Edmundsbury
18/04/2019: Went to the Greyhound for lunch, glad we booked as a beautiful sunny day and we sat in the garden with our dogs. Great selection of wines and drinks, particularly loved my Seville Orange gin with elderflower tonic! We had the full 3 courses. And without exception cleaned our plates. The top ticks went to the homemade pies, steak and ale, the beef was meltingly soft served with a gravy pot. Sausage and mash, sounds ordinary, certainly wasn’t, served on a huge plate with lots of vegetables and gravy surrounding the perfect mash and sausages, also a ‘trio’ of pork, including fillet and belly, cooked so well. Deserts were varied and we chose waffles in maple syrup and the white chocolate and raspberry tart. Scrumptious! We're just disappointed we only visit the area once a year, but will be back on our first day! Thank you.
15/04/2019: Found this place a while back and have been there every Sunday since and our party is getting bigger bigger. Not only is the food amazing, the staff are great and they also cater for coeliac and diary intolerance. And that's a lot coming from a fussy foodie. Honestly couldn't fault the place.

The Plough Inn, Rede

Cavendish, St Edmundsbury
01/04/2019: Stayed here with family and friends...The food was excellent and reasonably priced with friendly service from all the staff...
23/03/2019: Regular visitor to the Plough It is a proper old fashion pub with exceptional landlord...Brian and great food

Slates Restaurant & Carvery

Eastgate, St Edmundsbury
02/12/2018: Had our X-Mas party here last night and couldn't have wished for a better night. The food was fab, tasty, well prepared and plentiful. The evening was so well organised and all the staff were on it. You can tell this was not their first rodeo that's for sure. Karaoke and disco were just what we needed and a good spread of party classics helped keep the dance floor rocking all night. Drinks were very reasonably priced so we didn't have to take out a mortgage to help lubricate the proceedings either. All in all a great night. Thank you!
23/11/2018: What an awesome place. The food was the best I’ve ever tasted in a restaurant. The disco in the evening did a very good job in keeping the floor pretty full most of the time. I would and will be recommending this place very highly

New Maharajah

Haverhill East, St Edmundsbury
31/03/2019: Tried this Indian Resteraunt out last night and enjoyed it very much. The service and staff are excellent in a warm cosy environment. The food can't be bettered anywhere absolutely 100% wonderful! It is very inexpensive too! Just one word of slight warning it is a little cramped as there is not much room.
20/03/2019: Took our friends here for an evening meal. Food was great and arrived very quickly. Great portions and lovely flavours and colours . Will be back very soon.

Theobalds Restaurant

Ixworth, St Edmundsbury
17/04/2019: First of all I will admit to being biased as I am a regular here but, that being said, Theobalds is a wonderful experience.
19/03/2019: Lovely small restaurant. Made to feel very welcome. Excellent food and ambience. Rey good food and service.

Cote Brasserie - Bury St Edmunds

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
19/04/2019: I was meeting up with friends for lunch in Cote. We were all seated within 5 minutes of our appointed time. With the menu selection my friends went for a starter and main - I went for a main & dessert.
13/04/2019: Cotes is similar to Prezzo with subtle improvements to quality of glasses, cutlery, food quality and service. In particular, you receive one to one service as each meal is well presented to you by two people. Too much you may think but it works and shows the pride taken in delivering you good quality service.

The Bull Inn

Barrow, St Edmundsbury
15/04/2019: We returned to The Bull Inn for Sunday lunch yesterday and we're so glad that we did. The Sunday roast is AMAZING! Between us we ate the lamb and the vegetarian sweet potato cakes both were delicious and were cooked to perfection. These were accompanied with enough veg to feed a small nation. We finished with cheesecake for dessert which was delicious. They serve a locally produced artisan coffee which was excellent. All in all a fabulous Sunday lunch. The service was first class and the company wasn't bad either.........
10/04/2019: I stayed overnight as part of a work visit. The room was lovely, cosy, clean and comfortable. The service was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great. Burger and beer in the evening was also lovely. I would recommend and stay again.
