Fox and Goose

Fressingfield, Mid Suffolk, 45-60£
07/02/2019: A celebration for one of us, this restaurant provides a fantastic gourmet menu and extensive wine list. A serious treat for foodies
18/12/2018: Started with lovely warm rolls and butter, followed by amuse Bouche of Celeriac foam with crumb topping, very buttery and light. Followed by fillet of beef with delicious beetroot puree with a touch of fennel in it and sumptuous fondant potato, beef cooked to medium rare perfection. Berry and strawberry foam with popping candy then dessert of chocolate mouse, aerated chocolate, honeycomb and lime gel, well balanced and scrumptious. Great service and a serious wine list make this an absolute treat for a meal out.

11/02/2019: I was one of a group of 15 on Friday evening. The table d'hôte menu gave a good choice of dishes for this group booking. The food was excellent; cooked to perfection, hot on arrival, and delicious. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and there was a very good selection of wines, and other drinks, on offer not to mention the delightful surroundings in which we found ourselves. A real gem of a find !

02/02/2019: Lovely pub. 10 of us for a truly lovely night out. No pre-order, everything ordered at table, starters and mains. All came out together, nice and hot, good food. Staff very friendly and helpful. Already recommended to others.

The Cross Keys

Rickinghall and Walsham, Mid Suffolk
07/02/2019: This community owned pub is getting better and better. Great beer and friendly service. Could be a bit cosier in the lounge area but it is a thriving village hub that deserves the support it is now getting.
26/01/2019: Called into The Cross Keys after a walk at the nearby Fen. Been walking with a friend and her dogs and was pleased to find dogs were not only welcome but several were already there. Had really nice, strong coffee and a game of pool. Lovely woodburner, very friendly and clean. Good looked lovely, we will definitely go back again.

Thornham Coach House

Gislingham, Mid Suffolk
30/09/2018: Took my parents here for lunch as a treat after getting them lost due to my poor map reading on Thornham Walks. We didn't have a reservation, but they managed to fit us in anyway. The customer service was excellent, the food was well presented and great quality (the pork crackling was perfect!). Would recommend booking as space is limited. The prices are very reasonable for such a lovely setting.
27/09/2018: We were lucky enough to be able to hire Thornham Coach House as our wedding venue in September. We booked well in advance and Louise helped us with our preparations. I couldn't recommend this venue highly enough. A family run business who are so happy to help both on the lead up to the wedding and on the day. The venue itself is beautiful and decorated in a vintage and stylish decor. The food was tailored to our theme and absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a small to medium size venue that will give you a personal, friendly and tailored service in beautiful surroundings then I would highly recommend.

The White Horse Inn

The Beehive Inn

Ringshall, Mid Suffolk, <20£
12/02/2019: Down a long country lane in the heart of Derbyshire’s stunning scenery you will find this little gem. A country pub in every sense of the word with food to die for AND at a reasonable price. They serve a wide menu including swordfish NON of your ping cuisine here. We took my parents on a Sunday and booked in advance , service was good and the staff very pleasant. My only regret ! That I hadn’t found this place years ago!!!! We will be going back again and again and AGAIN!
09/02/2019: Booked for one night and ended up booking for another! Food was great value for money and all homemade. Staff were very helpful and friendly and were able to accommodate a gluten free member of the group. Definitely need to book.

The Kings Arms Haughley

Haughley and Wetherden, Mid Suffolk
10/02/2019: Great venue. Cosy fireplace and beautiful old pub setting. Very friendly staff. Sunday lunch menu looked very promising. Usual roast and mixed veg nicely presented. Portions were small. Skate wing looked lost on the plate, with child portion mashed potato and some samphire. Think this dish needs a bit of padding out. Maybe some salad, more potato or some peas?? All very tasty but NOT what I would say, “value for money” came home still hungry
10/02/2019: We’re glad they could accommodate us the service was quick and friendly. The portions were minimal skate wing was actually half a wing and a quinnel of mash spoon full of samfire. My wife’s Roast beef was slightly better. There were sausage rolls on the bar asked if I could have one at the table as I was a bit hungry. Was told it would be warm it was not and the water for the table never arrived. So for close to £50 for two i do not expect to leave hungry. The puddings were very good. A couple on the table behind us came in and decided to play dominos the clatter of them and persistent dropping on the flor did not lend itself to a quiet lunch. It was obviously their Sunday routine.
